Chester's Fried Chicken and Fish & Chip

Really good fish and chips.
Everything is made fresh to order so you have to wait, but it is well worth the wait.

It was my first time trying this out and I was TOTALLY disappointed in the service/ the portion size of the fries! It was like I was given all the smaller dried up shavings of older fries. When I mentioned this to the lady she said oh that's because it's the lunch special! That's why I gave you an extra tarter sauce? What does that have to do with only giving me approximately 10 small overcooked fries?

My Mom and Dad were here on Friday. They said the food and service was fantastic! They are critics when it comes to fish and chips and they said it was the best they have had in years! Everything was so fresh, hot and tasty. The prices were also very good! They said the service was so welcoming that they will drive back from Didsbury to enjoy it again!

Stopped here for a quick lunch with the family before heading to the zoo, and was sure glad we did. The service was great and the food was excellent. Our chicken strip connoisseurs (kids) thought the chicken was among the best they’ve had (and boy, they’ve had a lot). The missus had the fiash and chips. Fries were crispy and the fish was excellent. I had wings and onion rings and thought they were excellent and plentiful. I’ve paid a lot more for a lot less. Well done! This place should be busier than it is. Kudos to the owner for caring enough to serve good food, which is becoming a rarity these days.

This place serves THE best English style fish and chips! Service was fine - lots of free parking - limited eat in space- 3/4 tables. SO good!

Addictive! So I was recommended to come here instead of KFC! I am so glad I listened! 3 of us had the Cod and chips, 2 of the teens chicken tenders meal and the youngest had chicken wings meal. That was by far the best fish and chips I’ve had! Seasoning and breading on the fish are delicious! The fries are breaded too and oh my where have they been all my life. So good! The wings are crispy and juicy. The tenders are big and juicy oh and the FRIES are amazing! Lol I highly recommend trying it! It’s cooked fresh when you order. It’s a bit of a wait but I promise your tastebuds will thank you later! I can’t wait to try their fried chicken, breaded mushrooms, battered shrimp, samosas. Ugggh who am I kidding I’m gonna make my way through the menu with the addition of those yummy battered fries every time. DELICIOUS! Nobody has leftovers

Tonight my husband and I decided to try Chester's. We ordered the #3 combo. Very delicious! We are both from the cost and the fish was perfect. Fried chicken tasted better than KFC. The gentleman who took our order was very friendly. Thank you for a great dinner.

One of the best and freshest chicken I’ve tried. The skin was crispy and meat was so tender that it falls off the bone. The waiting time is 15-20 minutes which means they make and cook their food fresh, but you can also call them ahead of time to pick up orders to avoid the waiting time. Definitely recommend this place!

Came here with my friends. It was absolutely the most amazing juiciest chicken I’ve ever tried here in Calgary. The customer service here was amazing, especially the young lady working at the front. Will be back for sure!

Stopped in for lunch for the first time.very pleased! We have driven by many times and finally decided to give it a try.
Food was fresh hot and plenty.
Staff was friendly and pleasant.
Tried the fish and chips and because we wanted to check out the chicken we ordered 2 pieces. All I can say is YUM!
We will be back for sure.

What a great experience I had today with Chester's!

I grew up in the N. E, but moved away to Red Deer about 20 years ago, and yet always find myself returning to try the food. I was down for the day to see my family, with my wife and kids, and we decided we wanted to feed everyone. I typed in best fried chicken in Calgary, and Chester's was what came up in the N. E.

I'm glad we did.

We got the #2 combo and I got extra strips. I went in the storefront, which is pretty lowkey and small, not much in terms of dine-in- but I think that sort of adds to the charm. Working hurriedly in the back was Muhammad, an older gentlemen who I assume is the owner/manager. He was very friendly and we got speaking quite easily. He remembered my name, and called me by it. He also offered me some of the food he had for the special the next day, a chick pea in yogurt dish that I was happy to add to the order. I was very pleased with the experience and shook his hand afterwards, promising to leave a review.

Well, here it is: perfectly fried, juicy chicken, some of the best I've ever had.breaded, big crispy fries, delicious. You almost need to open the box in your car to prevent them getting soggy, its a shame to lose that crisp. The chicken strips and wings were breaded but not over breaded, just right. I thought the strips would be a little bit bigger, but I also ordered 6 extra just in case, and they were worth it either way, very fresh and genuine tasting, definitely not frozen. The gravy was awesome, salty and dark and rich. Overall I would say that the meal and the service were perfect. The restaurant could use a little work, but Muhammad seems busy enough focusing on the important stuff- the food.

Makes me proud to come from the N. E.that such care is put into a service many take for granted. Will definitely be coming back to try the fish!

The fish and chips was crispy and tasted great! The service was awesome too. I also got to taste the chicken and It had a tasty bread coating that wasn't too thick or greasy. I would recommend this place to anyone. We were very happy

Had Chester’s fish and chips today for the first time and they were awesome! Reminded me of how Joey’s Only used to be in the good old days. Fish is done in the authentic British style, fish was at least 10” long each and a couple of inches wide, perfectly cooked and now that I have found it; it’s now my only place to go for fish and chips. Hope the chicken is as good; I haven’t tried it yet but I will.

AMAZING, my family and I can’t stop coming here. The owner is very kind and humble! He really cares about the quality of food. The chicken sandwich is amazing, and the chicken pieces beat Popeyes. One thing I hate about fried food is the after feeling, however you won’t get that feeling at this place. I think they regularly change their oil! 10/10!

I almost don't want to write this review because the people who know about this secret gem know exactly how incredible the fish and chips here are, the serving size is so huge and satisfying its almost impossible to believe that the owner is actually making a profit, especially given the prices of things these days. The fried chicken is also quite yummy as well as the breaded mushrooms, but really im here for the best british style fish and chips ive had outside the UK. The owner is a very kind older man that is always busy but still goes out of his way to make you feel like a truly valued customer. Check out this hidden gem, you wont regret it.

We got cod fish and chips and they were delicious! And we got really hot and fresh fried that complemented the meal very well. Thanks for taking an order close to closing time! We will definitely be back to try the different fish options.

Chester's (Rundle location) reached out and invited me over to try out their menu. What I found at the Chester's Rundle Location was an owner that really cares about the quality of food they sell.

They freshly cook all their orders (which results in a bit of a wait, but also amazingly fresh and delicious food!), and are quite busy, so make sure to order ahead!

ꜰʀɪᴇᴅ ᴄʜɪᴄᴋᴇɴ ᴘɪᴇᴄᴇꜱ ᴡ. ᴡᴇᴅɢᴇꜱ: The chicken was literally right out of the fryer! It was so fresh, hot and crispy, we seriously devoured it in minutes. I was also very surprised with the wedges. They coat them in batter and they're just as crispy as the chicken but delightly soft on the inside!

ᴘᴏᴜᴛɪɴᴇ: Hot, cheesy, full of gravy, like what more could you want? !? ! I loved that their poutine wasn't overly salty, and how much cheese they put!

ꜰɪꜱʜ & ᴄʜɪᴘꜱ: We tried the fish and chips, and like the chicken it was fresh out of the fryer. It was hot and crispy! Also, the batter didn't over power the fish at all. With every bite of fish, there was an equal amount of delicious batter which I appreciated!

Overall, I really enjoyed Chester's - Rundle Location and? ? ? ? ? ? ? The owner really cares about the quality of the food they serve and you can taste it!

Always fresh, always flavourful.have tried everything off the menu but the fish and chips and fried chicken with in-house made potato wedges are a must have staple for my family everytime we visit this place.the kids especially love it!

Excellent fish for all price point even the fries are crisp and pair so well with the battered fish. Didn't take a photo but will add it next time I go. The owner and his family provide excellent customer service.

I called to place order for delivery, got told she would phone me back because she was busy. She proceeded to tell me delivery would be and hour then tells me after I give here the order a second time that I had to wait 2 hours
For my meal. If you cant offer proper delivery or service dont offer it at all no one wants to wait two hours for their meal

I use to love this place. Now the rules have changed and they don't support the customer. I give it a 2 now. I heard a new owner is there and that's why a 2.

This place is delicious! The fries are " to die for". Prices are great and the portions will fill your stomach to the max. Other fish n chips n chicken can't compare. A must try

Tried Chesters for the first time and it was way better than, I initially thought. Had the Fish n Chips. I must say this local business would definitely give a place like Joey’s Only a good run for their money/business! I’ll definitely be back in future.rod e

My wife and I tried the fish and chips and chicken and chips, both were very well cooked, crunchy breading very little grease, which made it so enjoyable thank you for a job well done.

The fish reminded my wife about the fish back in England.

I luv fried chicken and enjoyed some plus fish and chips, and a few other goodies.

The owners work there and they’re so kind!

The fried chicken was tender, the breading crispy and didn’t feel greasy. I also tried the potato wedges and fries, and the fries were definitely a winner for me! I don’t usually get fish but wow I loved the fish with a bit of lemon dipped in tartar sauce! I also tried the shrimp which I never get/try since I’m not a fan, but it’d be good to order if you’re a fan!

Chesters is the ONLY place I will go for fried chicken. Yes the wait is long but that's because everything is made fresh. If you want quick, soggy cold chicken go to KFC. The fries, chicken and fish are amazing. It's the only place we frequent at least once a month

Did not expect a food place to be closed on Monday.

All those reviews has to be fake, staff is basic nothing to impress. Food is really good, but unless you wanna wait 30minutes to have your stuff ready, go eat somewhere else, there was only 3 customer inside, we got in at 17: 26 and left at 17: 58 the wait time is unbelievable and they are obviously way understaff. You go in fastfood to eat quick. Not to wait forever to get fried chicken. No sence of urgency, they are taking their sweet sweet time and it's extremely frustrating. Will never go back or recommend to nobody. Save yourself half an hour,

I like the owner, but very disappointed in my order, paid extra for white pieces, looks like each breast was cut in half and counted as 2 pieces, cutting corners loses customers, giving 4 stars only because of the owner, not the value

This spot is the one I like best. I visit plenty of restaurants but to this one I keep coming back again and again. The stuff is very friendly and the food they place on your table is so appetizing. I would always prefer to have a good dinner in this place. I recommend this place with pleasure.

Very friendly staff that regularly checked up on us and opted to give us fresh food instead of old chicken. Ordered fried chicken, wedges and poutine. Fried chicken and poutine were pretty good and were complimented by a variety of sauces. Overall great food, place and staff.

Was looking for fish and chips and halal chicken and thus place showed up. Gave it a try with my gf and the food was excellent and the customer service was great, very very friendly.

The fish was super juicy and tasty. The potatoe wedgies were good but only got 5 which was disappointing. Charged quite a bit for it aswell.

Went there last month ordered a Karachi saffron Biryani and a chicken combo meal. Really didn't like the Biryani at all, the rice were so bland with no flavor at all and on top of it it was really dry. Chicken combo was ok nothing special about it. Giving 2 stars due to customer service only.

We went cause of the review but I have to put 1 star, it wasn't a pleasant experience at all, we had fish and the batter ratio was like 4 to 1 so much batter u can't taste the fish and was greasy from inside. The girl was very nice she offered to make us new one but we just had enough of wasting time and money and we couldn't stay longer with that taste. Fries portion was very small for paying 24$ for 3 piece fish.wish them all the best but will never go back.

Like the food but the casher is not pro, thougth he's an apprentice, our to go order was paid already, we waited for 20min, when the food was ready, casher ask us to pay again and even argue with us that its not paid yet, Thanks that we have the receipt to show him. He never say sorry or apologize at all
