Chianti

I’ve gone to Chianti’s several times over many years. It’s always been good, until the last two times. Last time I was there, the service wasn’t great and then another server who brought over Parmesan cheese grated it up so high, it was all over our laps and floor. I was so unimpressed and spoke to the manager.

Tonight a friend and I went for supper elsewhere and then found ourselves right across from Chianti’s so I suggested coffee and dessert. We went in and were seated right away by a friendly hostess. Ten mins later and nobody had come to our table yet or acknowledged we were waiting. Several servers walked by, the same manager I spoke to last time checked on the table behind us and cleared the plates.

We left and I stopped to talk to the hostess again, who was apologetic. Maybe she should be serving the tables. I’ll never return and never recommend it.

They offer gluten free pasta for $2 more

Great Italian cuisine in the heart of Old Strathcona. Home made pastas and zesty sauces. Yummo

Food was fantastic, server was wonderful! The only downside is that it was a bit loud, but what do you expect when there’s a PASTA FRENZY! Excellent choice when in Edmonton.

This is a wonderful place to eat. They have an extensive menu and will accommodate changes. They was complimentary bread and have a great Ceasar salad dressing. I much prefer this place to olive garden.
Parking is a little challenging.

Came here as a large group and experienced good food and great atmosphere. The pastas left a little to be desired given the price, however the atmosphere was great. Service was fast and efficient.

Not only the food was not good, my daughter snd I got food poisoning. Spent the whole night returning the pasta we ate. Not cool!

Been coming here for years. Best go-to pasta spot in the city.very convenient how they do half orders or sport size orders, no food waste! Come on Tuesdays for good deals. (but make a reservation.lol!)

The pesto artichoke chicken pasta was really good! Good portions. The Monday/Tuesday pasta deal is worth it! Good service.

The Server gave me attitude for absolutely no reason.and made us pay gratuity to split a bill for 3 which is ridiculous.

I want to love Chianti, I really do. The location is great, and the service is friendly and efficient. But I've been here twice in the last month and I have come to the conclusion that the food is just not good. It's bad.they've fooled me twice and it's time to give up.
The kid's spaghetti - both kids didn't finish and said it didn't taste good. My penne with sausage entree was bland.seriously lacking flavour or even just salt. I brought 90% of it home and couldn't finish the leftovers. The starter soup with sausage was ok but had frozen vegetables in it, the little cubed kind. My friend's bruschetta was bad - it was plain and again, lacking flavour and salt. My other friend's mussels were cooked ok.but the sauce was just canned tomato sauce dumped onto the mussels.
That being said, my friend loved the cappuccino and said it was perfectly made. The fried zucchini was good and I'd order that again.
Other than that, this was a major miss on the food front. I hope chianti reads this review and adds salt and flavor to their food! It is seriously lacking some love.

Our server Jeff was so friendly and personable. The good was amazing and it's such a beautiful environment.

Ordered a lasagna to go. When I opened it, it was like someone’s leftovers. It was just 2 small squares of pasta and a bunch of nasty sauce. Absolute waste of money! Never again.

Freshly made pasta in a classy but unique environment makes this a great place for a date but it's also kid and lunch friendly. The dishes usually need salt, which is fine for most pasta but I usually avoid the tortellini for this reason (since you can't add salt to the filling).

A charming Italian restaurant in the bustling Whyte Ave area.
Our waiter was Italian and provided excellent service.
I had a primavera linguini ($16). All the pastas have the option to use whole wheat spaghetti for an extra $2.50, which I did.
My dish was mediocre, but my husband had linguine florentine which had spinach, chicken, and pesto, in tomato sauce. My husband loved it and he rated it 5 stars.
My sister had fettucini alfredo, which she loved.
The waiter brought free buns to the table. They had a crisp (but not hard) crust and a soft crumb, and they released steam when you broke them open.
Desserts ranged from $7 and up. Spumoni ice cream and tiramisu were among the offerings.
Atmosphere was charming and casual.
I don't think you could beat the price for a lovely Italian meal.

Always a great place to go for dinner. The food is always on point. Our server was attentive with bread refills, table touching to see how our experience is going.

Really interesting layout in this establishment. There were 5 of us, I am sure the rest liked their meals ok (no one complained out loud), I did not enjoy mine. The chicken/cream entree I had was bland, and the pasta accompanying was extremely oregano heavy, I couldn't eat it.

Ordered fettuccine Alfredo, it was okay. The fresh pepper helped. Asked for chicken to be added, the amount of chicken you get for 5.50 is not very much at all. I couldn’t even eat it. The chicken was boiled, no flavour. The dish I got I would not recommend. If I want pasta I will go to Amore pasta. They are on point and the price for what you get is on point too.
