It wasn’t my first time in the detox centre. First time was a breeze. Staff was amazing left feeling amazing. Had to go again. Pretty much all new staff. All the girls would rather sit behind the desk and gossip about who’s dating who. I knew something was wrong with my symptoms and they didn’t care. Checked out. Went to emerg and sure enough I had other issues. Didn’t feel very welcoming and they looked down on you. Wanted to go back after my emerg sitting. And I was told I gotta wait 2 weeks minimum. When I was there 3 out of 7 beds were occupied. Not happy. Will be going somewhere else
Visited the hospital for an emergency and experienced a 4-hour wait to see the doctor after my assessment by the triage nurse. While I didn't mind the wait because of my situation, I couldn't help but noticed that individuals with more urgent medical needs were also waiting, and there didn't appear to be any immediate attention provided to them. Upon speaking with the staff, they explained that they had only one doctor available, which was causing the extended wait times. While I'm not an expert in these matters, I observed that other hospital departments seemed to have an excess of staff engaged in administrative tasks, chatting, and socializing, with minimal workloads. It struck me that reallocating resources / funds to where they are most needed departments could ensure that people receive timely care before emergencies escalate.
This hospital met our needs very well. The doctors and the nurses were accommodating and even allowed a patient from colon surgery to have hospital visits with his beloved dog in his room on the 3rd floor. Diligent and flexible staff. Outstanding. I disagree with many of the sour grape reviews here. If it takes time to see an emergency medicine doctor that's not the fault of this hospital or their staff, or any other hospital across Canada. We are overloading the population of this country, which is having impacts to medical care everywhere.
Absolutely zero urgency. I stood at the reception desk for five minutes, listening to Nurses and doctors laughing standing around and talking about tv shows, talking about what they are gonna do on the weekend while I stand there waiting to check on the doctor while the person I love has been laying in a bed waiting for hours with a concussion. Our hospital is a joke. If I walked in with my guts hanging out, I bet they would still make me go through triage first.
Wonderful people doing solid work, yes it's slow sometimes but thats life, they still will do their best to accommodate you even when they're short staffed and that's all you can ask for
I had to wait 5 hrs to not even be there while i was having the worst time ever.the receptionist was horrible, yelling at me and my mom bc we were impatient although waiting for so long to the point we were so exhausted. Especially not taking care for the ppl that need mental help.never going to this hospital again after that experience 0/5. The service was horrible, the staff aren't taking care of ppl with mental health and such, especially others who have been in pain.do not go here unless you want to suffer.
People are suppose to heal and get strong fast while their in hospital, well when the food is so disgusting. You are not part team of healing. Pretty sad to call family to bring food.
Staff is very disrespectful to callers asking about wait times. Broken bones are placed on a back burner. Wait times due to lack of doctors is unreal could take up to 5 hours for a broken arm to even be looked at. Just go to Raymond.
You’ve to wait forever in emergency. I waited 7 hours to see the doctor. I’ve been throwing up 7-8 times a day, and doctor literally came for 5 minutes just to give me Advil.
Horrible waiting in the emergency room to see a dr. Sat there for 5 hours in pain and the nurses didn’t care at all, they rather take someone else in who came in after you and still wait. Could be dying and the nurses don’t care.never going there ever again.
Every experience is horrible, staff will say one thing then another staff member will contradict them. They are disrespectful to those who make personal medical choices they dont like yet support those who put themselves in danger by life choices than cause harm to themselves and others. Like anywhere else in this world there are both good people and bad people. Sadly its like russian roulette and not helpful when seeking medical attention.
I am waiting for hip replacement surgery in Calgary and required an xray. I phoned ahead and was told to walk in the following morning. After navigating large distances on a deteriorated hip, I was told to come back in 2 hours and will now have to walk even further the second time.
The lady at the triage June 18th around 1-4pm wasn’t listening to me when I was trying to explain my symptoms and the medications I was on. I was extremely sick and needed medical attention as I was literally puking blood all day. No one called me in to see a doctor and at least 8 people who came in after me got in to see the doctor. Also overheard a few patients getting upset at some of the staff and the staff talking back to them rudely. Would not recommend. Worst hospital I’ve ever been to.
This one is for labour & delivery. I had my daughter in January and they were amazing! They took very good care of us. Although when we moved to the recovery ward. There was one nurse that really wasn't that great to my hubby. But other than that it was overall a great experience.
Despite the lacklustre reviews, my time at Chinook Regional Was really quite amazing. Was in & out in less than two hours. The nurses & Dr. Kwan were excellent. I’m really impressed with the level of care I received.
Extremely rude staff. I think out of the 6 staff members I talked to (3 nurses, a doctor, the guy at the desk for triage and a paramedic standing in the halls) the paramedic was extremely nice to my son.
My son went for stitches. He was terrified and they only made it worse while being heartless, rude and honestly.treated my son like a dog. Slapping his hand away from his mouth when he was trying to spit out a "chill pill". Completely unacceptable. I would be so ashamed. Go stalk shelves if you're unhappy TAKING CARE OF PEOPLE.
Recently took my 5 year old son into emergency for what turned into to be a ruptured appendix. The care we received and staff were outstanding, we spent a few days in pediatrics after surgery and had the most amazing caring nurses and staff, my son had so much fun he almost forgot he had surgery! A special thanks to Katherine (sorry if I didn't get the spelling correct) in pediatrics! My son says he wants to give you another hug! Thanks so much to the staff, the nurses and doctors and surgeon and everyone!
This time was the worst I have seen. I cant walk and in severe pain but apparently I'm not sick enough. Triage puts me way down the list because I'm not showing enough discomfort. Coming up on 3hours and still in main reception I get it sicker and.ore serious people first but this is crazy
This hospital saved my life and the nurses took care of me night and day. Forever grateful for the bedside manner. I couldn't imagine doing their job for even a min with all they have to deal with. Not all hero's wear capes. Much love and respect.
Failed to ask the most basic questions in triage and I was not even spoken to once I got a room to actually be questioned about what was going on with me. Just a doctor that came in, told me “good luck” and wouldn’t even refer me to a specialist after failing to diagnose me with a dangerous infection that I was hospitalized for 5 days later. Nurse in ER also failed to help a man laying on the floor unable to move because he “wanted to be there. ” I was in genuine shock. Do NOT go here. Wouldn’t take someone’s pet hamster for healthcare at this “facility. ”
All I can do is pray because nobody cares! Just shut up put your mask on and follow the rules. The doctor would not help me because he didn't know me.left a message for patient relations, hope something can be done for our future health care system because this is abuse! I think maybe some of the staff has mental issues and should be treated before treating our community.in other words “the blind leading the blind” great help guys you should be so proud you are better than everyone ️
Worst hospital I’ve ever been to, the nurse don’t know what they’re doing at all and are just plain rude and the doctor in the ER was rude, incompetent and just trying people through without addressing the problem or even willing to help find a specialist. Plus wouldn’t even try to get to the bottom of the issue when this has been a recurring issue, I would rather go get treated at the veterinarian than by these horrible people
I have been to this hospital many times and they refuse to treat me. I have gone in with broken bones and tons of other issues. In over 50 visits I could not even get a blood test even after I asked for one many times. This is the most pathetic hospital I have ever seen. The doctors just leave me in a room alone for 9-12 hours then discharge me without running a single test. My health has been declining badly over the last 3 years because they refuse to help. DO NOT GO HERE
I have taken up space here on several occasions, and all I can say is thank you to everyone who works here, they have a tough job to do, and they do it with a smile, patience, generosity, and cool heads, even during difficult times, each one person there has a job I don’t know if I could do, so my hat is off to you, and a special call out to the individuals from the orthopaedic department, between the nurse (Marsha) and a gentleman (Hugh, recently retired) who have made my trips there bearable, and funny, plus the Doctors (MSK clinic) who have worked tirelessly to help me, you are all amazing.
Very nice staff thank you so much to my nurse Taylor on the 3 rd floor and all staff who helped me after my motorcycle accident. You all are making my recovery a lot easier. Also thank You to dr storey and dr. Page for your fast response and amazing work.
This is the worst hospital that I know the nurses are inexperienced rude and disrespectful no mercy they treat people like animals and the doctors aren't any better whatsoever it's all about making money for them or for the hospital please don't go there you won't get proper care anyway go to a hospital near by
I was at the Emergency department, for what turned out to be nothing too serious, thankfully. The whole process was very smooth, reasonably quick considering the business at the time, and the staff was very professional from start to finish.
Terrible hospital. Nursing staff in the OR were rude and insulting to my condition. The surgeon Dr. Lavins was very late for my operation and totally botched the whole thing. Failed to treart my condition and made it much worse with his poor skills. Ive been left in chronic pain and have spent a small fortune at this point trying to find relief from the pain that man has left me in. Worst experience of my life.
I understand the hospital is a basically a training facility i was told by 1 of the head nurses to keep my personal belongings my personal belongings close beside me as there was thievery going on this is very alarming last time I was there the guy next to me was missing his wallet and car keys he went through emergency no one could find his stuff too many students coming and going
Gave birth at the Chinook Regional Hospital. All nurses and doctors were phenomenal! Very knowledgeable, caring, and friendly. We had an amazing experience! Thank you!
My nurse megan from labour and delivery truely made the most horrible day of life more bearable! I couldnt be more thankful for the support and care she had for me! Truely the best nurse ive ever had in my life!
The staff here were very compassionate, kind and professional. I was initially afraid to seek medical attention, but the team that helped me always went out of their way to make me feel comfortable through a tough time. If you feel like something is wrong, please let these amazing people help you!
I was admitted to the hospital in September, I was treated great in emergency and also in the ICU. The staff are absolutely fantastic, they are extremely hardworking and put up with a lot most of us would never have to experience. Thanks to each and everyone of you.
Everyone harps on the health sector, but people need to realize that the health sector could be a whole lot worse than it is; we should be happy we have one as good as we do.
If I could give zero star review I would. Lethbridge emergency is a absolute joke. Second time being here. Five years ago came in with bad chest pain at 2am, sat in triage for four hours because I looked to young for heart attack or serious complication. Ended up being an infection around my heart. Last night come in with severe leg and back pain, ct scan and blood work showed blood clot, drugged and sent home. Come back in this morning with bad pain, sit in agony for three hours not to be seen. Good thing blood clot in a leg is not a big deal. If you can make it to Calgary I suggest taking the drive, Lethbridge emergency is absolutely horrible
Having a constant pain in my chest. My physician set me down to ER for xray ECG and blood work. The female that hooked up my ECG told me to lay down and hold still. I had an attack which shakes my body. The females bitterly ripped the cords from the sticky pads and walked out, my ECG was not done. This female should not be in RR. People don't come to the ER because they want to. They are there for a reason!
The doctors and nurses come off like they dont want to be there and are unsympathetic to your pain. When I had to get a morphine shot in both arms the nurse basically stabbed me so hard my arms are both bruised. The only bonus is the wait times are alot faster then Calgary.
Are hospitals is always so clean and such nice good caring people that work they. They all now there jobs well. We are very lucky to live in Canada. My brother moved to Zambia Africa. You don't want to even know. We need to just all realize how great we have it and be nicer to people that are helping us.
Thank you so much for the great care the nurses and doctors are so caring helpful and friendly. And thank you for letting my husband and my 6 month old stay with me the whole time. Really great hospital
I had several stays at the hospital over the last 3 years. For a variety of maladies. From a quick emergency room visit to a 3-day stay. I have been in hospitals in other countries. I have been to many hospitals in Canada. That being said the Chinook regional hospital and their staff excelled in all aspects of healthcare. I want to see a special mention to the food. This isn't your daddy's hospital food. The doctors and support staff nurses orderlies were very professional and compassionate. The emergency room is well thought out, comfortable and well-appointed. There's an information screen listing wait times. Everything's computerized it's brilliant. Other provinces could learn a lot from Alberta. I have one negative to make. I had one doctor nurse combo that was less than sympathetic to my situation as I was homeless, in pain, scared, and was met with hostility. I was made to feel like I was just in the hospital so I can have a place to sleep I don't go to the hospital unless I'm injured believe me. Other than that the services I received were exemplary. Keep in mind we are full throttle into an opiate crisis this hospital does not only serve Lethbridge but all of the surrounding communities. I've seen Lethbridge EMTs desperately trying to revive someone who's just overdosed on drugs right there on the sidewalk. I've seen people refuse service angrily even though they were injured.and a personal story I had a bicycle accident and I was severely injured and EMTs who showed up put my bike and me in the ambulance and brought it and me to the hospital. I have no way of securing my bike so the EMT went to the store and bought me a lock so I can lock my bike. I'm sorry but that is way Beyond job description and an incredible to see such dedication to the art of service to humanity.
At labour and delivery area nurses don’t know anything. My sister was in labour for 8hrs asked to push until babys heart rate went down. Had to to emergency c-section. They have a 0 skills. They are the meanest nurses in the whole world, talks behind your back, eye roll and mostly they are there only for money. They don’t have any humility. They sit at nursing area talking and when you ask something looks each others face. Rudeeeeeee!
Out of the 5 or 6 times I’ve gone to the ER here, I’ve only had 1-2 decent experiences. The nurses are awful. I have complaining that I was having trouble breathing and my boyfriend went to go ask a nurse to check on me because no one had talked to me in hours.and he said “oh, you mean the girl in there who is breathing just fine? ” No one had come to check on me in HOURS. After the doctor came in, he determined I was have an allergic reaction to the new medication I was on, and WAS having trouble breathing as a result. An awful place.
I had day surgery yesterday. The staff were wonderful! Lots of warm blankets and they let me stay to recover a while. The surgery went great as well. Everyone was kind, efficient, and all of my questions were answered with dignity. Thanks to the group who saw me through!
Calgary's South Health Campus hospital is like going to a Lexus dealership and Chinook regional Hospital is like going to Canadian Tire. No professionalism. They treat you like lint or bottle cap. The reason two stars PACEMAKER CLINIC is close to the parking lot.
