I shopped at Chintz & Co many years ago in Edmonton.
Was online and saw two garden stools - emailed and prompt reply from Amanda who offered to hold them for me which was great. I noted I would be in to pick them up the next afternoon.
Arrived today and the door was locked yet a quick call had someone come to the door. I did state two items were on hold for me.
Once inside I had to provide the name of who held the items… usually it is the name of the customer required.
Amanda arrived and we chatted while she showed me the items (both marked with hold tags which is appreciated) I wanted to look around.
At first I thought Amanda was being helpful (which she was!) yet I just wanted to browse. I quickly realized that browsing is not how Chintz & Company wants customers to experience.
Suspect it is store policy to follow the customers around. I do not feel that is the best way to treat customers - especially ones only carrying a small Lululemon pouch - where the hell would I hide anything in that?
Awkward as it was, I will consider a return for topiaries and florals BUT the owner of Chintz & Company is truly in need of a wake up call on the staff stalking. I will end up spending less money in the store now and from other reviews it appears others feel the same.
Spend the money on security cameras and hire skilled surveillance operators to watch the store. Other than the very small items, no one is going to stuff a sofa in their purse!
Beautiful store so it is worth a visit all the same.

Stay away! Locked doors to be 'allowed' in to be stalked and followed by staff still wearing masks!? !? Creepy, distopian tools wondering in way overpriced weirdness. Was just completely creeped out, don't recommend for anyone alive and alert.

This store is stunning. I’ve been going for years and have never left empty handed. The customer care experience is always good so this comment is really for the owner. While I can understand the appointment policy during pandemic times, it is simply not an appropriate policy now. I can’t count the number of times that I have actually had some spare time and wanted to stop in but low and behold, I can’t. Time to normalize.

Get over yourselves. "by appointment only". Absolutely ridiculous to demand this. You are not that special, just arrogant.

A once friendly, beautiful store that I’ve spent 10s of thousands at over the years. 5 posted signs at the front door and also throughout the store warning me that I’m under surveillance. A store clerk followed me around all three floors while I browsed. This is a first.

What's with this new "by appointment only" policy? Went to buy some fabric and the door was locked. There was another lady trying to get in and she had no idea either. I definitely won't be making an appointment!? Just to shop here, hard no.

My new favourite home decor store in Calgary. Beautiful selection of unique textiles, lighting, art and furniture. It is worth taking the time to book an appointment for a walkthrough.

On 3 occasions I have stopped in on whim over the past year with the intension of purchasing fabric. I thought their appointment only shopping was just due to Covid regulations but as it turns out they are still operating on an appointment only basis. I stopped by this past Saturday and the doors were locked, there was a lady behind me who had an appointment I started to walk away they opened for her and watched me walk away and made no effort to ask if I’d like to come in the store. Appalling customer service! Don’t waste your time or money shopping here, 90% of the store is filled with over priced goods all manufactured with cheap materials made in China!

Very surprised to find that you can not shop in this store? When we arrived we found out that you must have an appointment to shop in here. When we called we were told there was 4 people in the store and we would have to wait 20 min to enter. If they are wondering why sales are down I would go with the fact they wont let shoppers in. So disappointing

Drove an hour & a half to shop. Was turned away at the door…. It’s only by appointment b/c they are still implementing restrictions (on themselves). That’s ok, I can spend $ elsewhere and I’ll never be back. WARNING BEFORE YOU TRY AND GO! ***

Duing the pandemic guests are required to book an appointment. The staff was attentive and made themselves available when choosing items or answering questions as needed. I was surprised as to the lack of Christmas decor available. I purchased some red honey candles. They burned beautifully without any dripping. I found the store prices after 2 visits in the last 4 months to be quite expensive.

I have shopped at the Calgary Chintz since it was called Chintzy’s, buying furniture, lamps and a lot of custom window coverings. Recently I went in and got a very poor reception. Once the snotty (heavens knows why as she didn’t appear to have any style herself) saleswoman discovered I only wanted a custom cushion cover she perfunctorily showed me some choices, attempted to pressure me to buy something expensive and then couldn’t get rid of me quickly enough. It’s clearly no longer about service there, just about the dollars. Save yourself a trip and go elsewhere.

I used to really love this place. I have spent a lot of money here. Customer service has gone downhill and now everything is final sale? It was so refreshing when they would let you try something in your home. Now they are very happy to keep your money rather then let you bring it back if it doesn’t work. Very unfortunate. Going to be hard for these local businesses to continue to compete with the Restoration Hardwares of the world where they allow you to bring things back. I am all for local as long as their policies are fair and Chintz’s no longer are!

Almost everything you need to beautify your home is here. I cannot wait until they reopen for full browsing. I especially love the selection of fabrics and wallpaper. There are items of quality and selection you cannot easily find, and here you can look in person and touch. Online is not the same. There are beautiful decor too.

Great store and people, hard working and nice. Hope you get some new accent tables, art work, pillows and decor stock this Spring:) Always checking in to see whats new.

Incredibly helpful staff who will work to find exactly what you are looking for even if it means recommending somewhere else (though they were able to figure something out for me that worked better and was less expensive than elsewhere).

Have purchased from them a few times and overall it has been a good experience for both my wife and I. Be prepared to spend a lot of time here as they have tons of stuff for your home. The customer parking lot is nice so you don't have to pay for street parking on weekdays.

Fabric selection is vast and textiles offered are very high quality. Prices, of course, reflect this. Wonderful displays, a treat to just walk around in this store.

Beautiful store and wonderful staff. I was impressed with the quality of the flowers and stems, and how realistic they looked. The selection here is unreal. Perfect for weddings, events, home decor, whatever really. The staff were kind and courteous and very helpful to my mum and I as we looked for flowers to use for my wedding. Left very happy and with even more ideas for home decor for when I return! Admittedly, some of the prices are well beyond what I can ever afford, but that's to be expected for high end furniture and decor and if you look, you can find stuff that fits every budget. Will definitely visit again ️️️

I love this place so much. Friendly staff, wonderful products. Upper and lower levels are full of creative set ups and so much variety and things to see. Only downside is the prices. So expensive but for good quality. They do have some sales though. While most of the staff are lovely, one or two can be a bit pushy. And I've never been treated badly. They've never looked at me like I was poor or rich, they all look at me like I have money to spend. No discrimination here. I'd like to see more diverse staff. Such a wonderful place to visit and get creative ideas for your space. And if you're wealthy, the sky is the limit!

Our Chintz & Co in Edmonton just closed. So I phone the Calgary store. They were awesome
We figured out what fabric I had been working with, go it off to me promptly, went to great lengths to track the parcel down in Edmonton

Brought my 10 yr old niece & she loves this store, said it was her favourite! One of my faves too!

New look to an old Calgary favourite. Much improved, clean look, easier to see your newly found "treasure". Wonderful fabrics & trims on 2nd floor. Mackenzie Childs collection, glassware, scented candles, towels, rugs. Good location for upcoming wedding season. Visit late fall for fabulous Christmas ideas.

Chintz is a beautiful store there is no doubt about that it truly is a place you can spend hours browsing.but I'm rating it one star because I witnessed the owner reprimand her staff, right in front of me.and I do not support businesses that treat their workers like children. I felt embarrassed for the poor woman and uncomfortable to have witnessed it. Very unprofessional.

Great selection of decorations for the home. I did not give a 5 star rating just due to the fact that one of their staff was not friendly or helpful. My husband had asked a question and the person behind the counter gave a very abrupt answer and went back on their cell phone. We did find another staff member who was able to help us. Other than that we managed to find what we wanted.

Amazing selection & great customer service. Very professional & friendly, would absolutely recommend this location to anyone!
