Very negative experience. I have yet to get in contact with head office to discuss my concerns and called multiple phone numbers where the automated response said the call volume was too high.
Staff were rude, and made assumptions about me as a customer.
I bought bananas from the Okotoks no frills 10 days ago, the day After i bought them I ate a banana, the banana was terrible and tasted nothing like a banana. It tasted like chemicals but slim to no actual banana flavor.
I told the lady at the till that I meant to return the bananas earlier but I had a death and funeral within those days.
The lady assumed I was returning them because I left them in my car, and seemed to forget I was returning them because they were spoiled and tasted like chemicals and not bananas.
This lady never offered me an exchange initially, and said sorry she couldn't take them back because it had been more than 24 hours.
I told the lady I'd leave the bananas then in that case (to be disposed of).
I made a completely different purchase and asked a different teller if it states on the receipt produce has to be returned within 24 hours (which is ironic because some people don't even take a first taste of their produce within that timeframe to know if the produce is spoiled or not)
We looked on the receipt and there was nothing stated about having to return produce within 24 hours.
The staff was expecting me to just randomly know that produce has to be returned within 24 hours.
I asked to speak with a manager, another shorter lady came out of the office where she looked to see if it states 24 hours, I told her it wasn't on the receipt and that I would have returned sooner had someone in my family not just passed away and that I wasn't returning them because I had them in my car, rather because they tasted like chemicals. I also know from past experiences, it's very hard to speak with an actual person on the phone at the Okotoks no frills, if it wasn't so difficult in the past I would have called to say the produce was spoiled but I unfortunately I couldn't return them right away.
She said it's head offices decision and she could not refund me my banana purchase but I could choose some different bananas, and that she would not allow me to return those bananas if they tasted like chemicals (I never once asked her to). She also reprimanded me for not calling the phone number on the receipt thus justifying her poor customer resolution or lack thereof.
She said there is a process from the sounds which involves taking a number, and it was implied I should have already known to call this number and about the uncommon process that she described thereafter that I should have done.
The staff expected the customer to know all of their processes magically. Which are not typical of other grocers in the area.
If no frills has a strict 24 hour produce return rule, it should be stated on the receipt or honored for customers who don't know they only have 24 hours to return produce. Staff at the tills should be telling customers this, otherwise how would they magically know.
Prior to speaking with the lady in the office, I heard the initial teller and a different staff member chuckling about my return, I was surprised to hear that staff ask if I chose replacement bananas (which I was never offered by the initial teller).

I'm open to updating another review depending on how the company handles and resolves these issues.
I even told the lady from the office that my family was witness to the spoiled chemical tasting bananas prior to the bananas being in my car (which I put in my car in the bag with the receipt to return them). Very dissapointed with how the Okotoks staff handled this situation. The tall blonde older lady (I say older because there was a younger more friendly teller who also had blonde hair but looked younger than the lady who was involved with the return) and the younger teller seemed more friendly was not involved in the negative events. Just as the name states, its a no frills store, they do carry a Mexican pepper (canned) that I haven't been able to find anywhere else in town though

Worst customer service I've ever had was kicked out after buying a juice was chilling in parkade as it is to hot out side

Since prices have gone crazy no frills is the only store trying to maintain proper pricing.

Good prices and great service. Always. They are consistent with their service and treat me as a valued customer. The prices are very competitive.

The staff here are friendly and helpful. Generally not too busy. I wouldn't come here if I'm looking for anything unique, but it's an excellent place for grabbing essential items. I took one star off because more than a few times I've come in looking for a flyer item and they don't have it, even though the No Frills I shop at in South Calgary has plenty.

Not the best experience.they need to mark the prices on their produce. Asked an employee the price of strawberries and she went to the back and came back with the price $2.69.at the till charged $3.99.
The cashier could have cared less about the error.

They always seem to be out of meat products and their fruits and veggies are always over ripe. I usually shop at the one in okotoks.
