Visited on a Friday at 5 pm. Most tellers closed their tills an hour before the scheduled closing time, leaving only one open. Despite a line of customers, we weren't assisted until 5: 55 pm, and unfortunately, the help provided was limited. Overall, the service was very poor.
Of all the CIBC locations I've been to in the city, this one has to be the absolute worst. With the exception of maybe 2 tellers there the rest of the staff (including the manager) are a bunch of rude and lazy, sad examples of what's lacking in customer service these days. Do yourself a favor and keep your money in a coffee can, you'll be glad you did.
Worst CIBC location in all of Canada. Tellers are incredibly slow, never have enough staff, and all seem miserable. Waited in line for 30 mins just to have a bill verified. This is a disgrace. Should close the location or hire more staff.
Unprofessional tellers with no proper anti-fraud training, no effort to protect customer's money from fraud. Can't believe even the manager said "it is your bank information, your account, your responsibility at the end of the day" during our conversation. I used CIBC over 10 years, always loved it but now done with this bank because of this location.
I don't write reviews but seriously. Stay away from this branch. They only love you when you deposit your money, but when it comes to other issues they treat you not right.
Very bad experience. Had an appointment with an advisor, after nearly 30 mins wait, went to the teller, she told me the advisor’s computer is not working! How come that I still saw she had a cx sitting in her office. Such a terrible time management and totally waste my time for waiting, will never come back for this branch ever
Wife's credit card put on hold due to a "requirement to verify personal information" despite CIBC having up to date information. Tele agent tried to verify but in the end, after a 20 minute conversation, could not do this. So, their mistake (which was not for security reasons) becomes our inconvenience.
Went to this CIBC branch in person to confirm, 30 minutes before close. Got there, and security person had locked the branch. We were told the line is too long, we have to cut it off here. There were 5-6 people ahead of us.
We asked the bank security person why they would close the branch, when they are supposed to be open. No reply apart from "we have to cut off the line now".
Running a business means that you stay open when you say you're supposed to be open. If not enough staff, stay late. Make it work. Its literally your job. When you're entertaining the bank by showing up in person and taking your own time to rectify a BANK ERROR that's not fair.
CIBC ("Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce) : As a Canadian, I'm embarrassed that you use the word "CANADIAN" in your title. You should just stick with "Imperial Bank of Commerce", as the "Imperial" part certainly feels correct.
Had a great experience at my banking appointment today with Harish. He was very helpful and direct with his explanations, and very kind to my partner and I. I highly recommend his services for anyones banking needs!
Had an asian guy teller that was very unprofessional and seemed like he doesnt want to be there. Went in last week with a family member for some banking needs. Today i went to another cibc location with better customer service. Ill be going there from now on. Giving this bank a big thumbs down.
I've been going here a while and the tellers are usually fairly quick and helpful. I had an uncomfortable situation today where I was cashing some cheques and the manager, Alise, was dealing with an unruly customer. When she was done dealing with situation she interjected herself into my transaction, without being asked to by an employee only rudely inform me of a piece of information for the teller could answer my question. I understand that she had just been dealing with an unhappy customer, and that she was upset herself, but she did not have to do that and it made me extremely uncomfortable. Nothing serious, but rubs me the wrong way.
What a disaster, the branch is supposed to close at 5pm I come here at 4: 58 and they are closed already. I am trying to tell them the stuff is important, it’s just an envelope I need to pick up, nothing else is needed, it’s just 30 seconds job as they had called me saying it’s ready for pick up, but they are shooing me away as if I am some kind of beggar. Will never ever bank with these guys.
There are nine front desk stations, but only two of them were being used by their staff. I thought for a second I was in Walmart when I entered this bank. This is some of the worst customer service I have ever seen a business offer. Their was no reassurance to the customers waiting in line that help would be granted soon, instead we were met with relaxed and lazy bankers on the end chit chatting away because their shift was about to end in less than an hour. From what I have heard they only have five people hired to work in the front desks. This bank needs to get its stuff figured out and hire some more people, their is zero "Now Hiring" signs and zero request for help when the line gets too long.
Terrible customer service. Messed up my transactions several times and the clerk managed to mess up my banking accounts despite me trying to be as clear as possible about what I wanted to accomplish while I was there. Long waiting lines and the glorified mall cop security guards carry more self-importance and authority than necessary. I have left the line-up to do my banking another day, sometimes even elsewhere because it has taken so long to get through.
I went to the branch on 8th of July thrusday, I was having a very serious issue with getting my draft cleared because a different banking instution messed my draft which was issued by CIBC, I was asked by other banking instution to visit CIBC even though they were in fault and I have to admit that the help and support I got from NEBYU ELIAS was outstanding and amazing. I am so impressed with the way help was offered even though i am not a Cibc client, the gelp and level of customer service was outstanding. NEBYU ELIAS thanks for your help and support once again, you rock.
Worst management team, cause me so many nightmare. For sure the attitude that they treat me is “abuse”. Don’t work there, don’t go there to line up forever.
Making an appointment does not matter here as you end up waiting anyway. I m taking time off work to be here and I made an appointment. Whats the point of making appointments.
All my interactions at this 116 St & 104 Ave locations have been 5 ***** plus.since early 2018. I was prepared to close out my Mom's acc'ts at CIBC after trying to get established as EPOA for my Mom at both, Capilano, and Main branch on Jasper & 101 St. Nothing but frustration at those locations. The manager at the 104 Ave ATB Branch recommended that I try this 116 st location. The service I have received from Anagha, Rahul, and Bali has more than met my requirements, but also their input and advice has been most helpful. Thank you to all that serve here. Rick
Banks continue to experience record profits, the highest ever recorded, and yet here I stand outside in a line of 15 waiting for service at a bank in Canada. With a security guard. For what I expect will be no less than one hour. A bank that I have been a customer of for 30 years. Unacceptable. Hire more staff.
Employees did a good job (by doing a terrible job) showing to the management that it is time to bring laid-off tellers back to work. All the recent 1 star ratings show that. Now, bring the employees BACK! 10-15 minutes per person dealing with a client. Line ups are brutal.
Lineup and drive thru seem to move pretty well in heavy traffic. (Compared to other locations with drive thru) Only been inside a couple times with no issues
Management should check to make sure there's envelopes on weekends so customers can actually deposit cheques at the ATMs! No envelopes just garbage everywhere!
Over charged me by accident over the past 4 months and wouldn’t refund me. They said I should have noticed the first month, so they would only refund the last 30 days.
Really don’t appreciate how they put the blame on me. EDIT: the whyte ave location was much more helpful! I would recommend them.
It appears that everyone else seems to be annoyed with the "wait times" I find that coming to this location around 3-5 is the worst and it does tend to be a bit busy. I dont mind it, they have free wifi (as most CIBC locations do) the tellers are really polite and warm. The longest I've waited in line was about 20 minutes. They should have a "business" line, like the other locations. I often do deposits and it only takes less than a minute to do.
Really slow, I waited for the front desk for around 50 minutes, they don’t have enough staff, every body is tired and lining up and just standing, no place to sit. Very awful!
Some of their cashiers lack basic problem solving skills. I was very disappointed with my visit there as they failed to acknowledge a loyal CIBC client and refuse to address my legitimate issue. I have been to CIBC branches all over the country and this by far was the worst. It looks like just a bunch of disgruntal employees working out front and especially in their management. These people here are doing a poor job representing the core values of CIBC and should consider taking some initiates to improve their way of effectively dealing with CIBC clients.
This is the worst Cibc branch that I have been to, I was facing a huge problem with my banking and rather than being compassionate towards my concerns, the employees at this branch were extremely rude. They did not even listen to my concerns and told me to chose weather I wanted to bank with Cibc or not. This is no way to treat your clients I am extremely disappointed, I had never faced this kind of behaviour at any other Cibc branch. The management and the teller lacked interpersonal skills.
If I could give zero stars I would. There’s always 2 tellers working and line ups are down to the door. Management needs a serious turnover, as they are rude and incompetent. Hire more tellers, this isn’t fair to customer or your staff.
Friendly service but there is always a line. And there is only ever 1 person working, maybe 2 if you’re lucky. I’m not sure why they haven’t dealt with this issue, I see lots of the complaints are the same. I feel bad for the 1 employee trying to help everyone, I can’t imagine they love their job having to deal with upset people all day. Please staff appropriately.
How is this place even open? It needs a big management overhaul given the lack of proper management. Minimum 1 hour waits, the staff are always on lunch or their breaks when it is prime time (Lunch and afternoons). The line was 20 people deep today at 12: 45pm with only one teller while the rest were in the backroom laughing which could be heard to the front. You are better off driving 20 minutes to a further location and getting serviced there.
Whenever I phone and leave messages they never call me back. I requested for my RRSP GIC to be rolled over into my RRSP before it automatically rolled over into a new GIC on the 8th, and my advisor assured me it would not roll over into a new GIC.she never did the transfer and won't take my calls. I've also had a situation where I gave the teller several thousands of dollars in cash and she took the money but never deposited into the account and I had to go back. These people are useless.
Horrible customer service. Went there with an issue on my TFSA, they ddnt take my name or even card number at all to see the problem that I was describing, they kept just telling me we can't do anything for you. The teller told me to wait and she will find me an advisor. I waited and the advisor comes and tells me rudely that he has another customer and that he can't do anything for me. Excuse me I am a customer too, and I ddnt tell you to come to me, I was waiting for an advisor like the girl at the till said. Perhaps if you have another customer then let another advisor come and see me. Very disrespectful and rude. It makes sense after checking this place's reviews tho.
Worst branch ever. They need to hire more tellers. Always waiting for 30 to 40 minutes. Today I had to put review because there were 2 old people standing line with walker. Really CIBC? This is how you treat customers! Tellers walking out for print all the way to some cabin. They do not even have printer to print. Wow! I do not wanna take names of tellers but please teach them properly before giving them customer to handle. Really took my almost 30 min.for 2 min.print. Its just statement print. That does not take that much time. Thank you for wasting my and other people who were in line.
Terrible customer service, average wait time is 30 min +. Usually only has one worker to two customer service representative at a time for a line of 9 +. Absolutely terrible. Word of advice go to a different bank if you need service right away
