This restaurant always smelled good as we walked by, and we finally had a chance to try the place out. Naan was delicious - hot, fluffy, chewy. The chicken tikka Labrador and the chaat papdi was a tad bit too sweet for our taste but the flavours were good. The Mango lassi and Masala chai were delicious. We will be back to try other dishes for sure.
We are regular Customers for buffet @ Cinnamon Downtown. Papdi Chat, Samosa and Veg Pakora, Tandoori Checken is all time favorite for our Starters Ultra Crisp Garlic Naan and Gravies are must to try. Gulab Jamun is the best.
The food was amazing! Had the butter chicken, tandoori chicken, coconut rice and the naan. Service was excellent and staff was very friendly! Definitely recommend stopping by:)
Absolutely the best Indian food in Calgary. I cannot describe in words how I feel about this restaurant. Very friendly staff and decently priced food, I always have some leftovers too. I made the mistake of trying some other Indian restaurants in Calgary and nothing compares to the quality of Cinnamon. Try the CTM, Cinnamon Curry, Goat buryani, honey Gobi, samosa Chaat.
Best restaurant in calgary! I came with my family for first time, the food is amazing, they have really good drinks loved the ocean water. Must try the platters.
An Indian coworker recommended us here so I have high expectations and I was not disappointed at all. The goat Rohan Josh was super amazing- a must try! The chicken Tikka was juicy and delicious. They kept calling the chicken tikka an appetizer but the quantity was generous. After the ‘appetizer’, I had not much room left for the main dishes.the waitress simran she was super friendly.
The food was amazing! Thank you chef Nishan! The biryani and daal makhani was great. Manvir is an excellent server, soft spoken and professional! I highly recommend this place.
Sorry to say this but very slow service. Staff even don’t come to ask us if we want anything or not and even we had to go twice on reception counters to just ask for refills. Restaurant not even that busy it was hardly 2-3 table occupied. And specially for food charges it’s soooo expensive compare to other Indian restaurants… Aside from everything please improve your service it’s so slow and customer should not go to the counter to ask for something.
Hands down best service I received! I ordered UberEats and they accidentally sent me the wrong order, a butter chicken instead of butter paneer and I am vegetarian! They gladly gave me another curry as compensation for the mistake with a free coke! Love the service and kudos to whoever was closing and helped me sort my order issues out!
Overall, a decent experience at downtown for Indian food. Veg Thali - the size of platter is such that everything would just closely put in together. Raita was a little too sour. Shahi paneer was a little too sweet. Rice was little cold. Non Veg - Mutton Biriyani - quantity was good for $17 but the pieces were a little dry on the inside. Overall fragrance was good. Non veg - Malai Tikka - got in a sizzler format. Taste was good. Overall bill for 3 was $85 which is on the higher side as compared to eating in NE region. But, it's downtown, so yes.
Ordered lamb curry and it came out stale.looks like they made it week ago n kept it in fridge and served us today. Told the sweet waitress about it. But chef didn't care. Never going back to this restaurant and not referring it to friends. Btw today was our first experience with this restaurant n we went to celebrate Something special.
I've dinned at many Indian restaurants in town, different provinces and countries, and I must say Cinnamon stands out as one of the best. The balance of spice is spot on.you can taste the quality of the food simply by tasting the basmati rice. The Murg methi Malai was especially outstanding along with the tandoori chicken. Great experience!
One of the best place to visit! I recommend everyone to visit this place they have two branches one in downtown and another one is on north east! Good ambience as well as the service! The most important thing is the food it is so yummy special thanks to all the chefs
My experience was really bad, the manager/owner was so rude. The staff did not know how to handle/greet the customers. Management was really poor. Would never go again to this place and will surely not recommend someone to visit there. Nonetheless, food quality was so poor, cannot find a single thing to fulfill my appetite.
One of the fabulous restaurant in Downtown I ever visited. Food is so so delicious. Staff members are very polite. Pani puri is 10/10. Maharani thali is best here. I recommend all to try their best food.
Like I said yesterday to the lady at restaurant, I am only giving one star to be able to write this review.
I have visited North east location twice and downtown location once.
After two not so good experience at north location, being a huge “Thali” fan, thought to try downtown location. We ordered half maharaja platter and a maharani thali.
After reaching to the location, the table We were given was a real bad arrangement, every time someone pass through the plant leaning on our table was bugging me, and had water on the floor around the plant. After bringing that to their notice, the lady said, it’s only me who is gonna fall because of it. It was as is until we left. Later we waited for 15 mins for water, serving plates and cutlery, only quarter plates with fork, knife and paper napkin was given, we needed to ask for water approximately after 25 mins and spoon after getting the second order served. First order served nearly after 45 mins. And the Thali after another 20 mins. No water refills or spoons so far.
I was hoping to get the best Thali ever after waiting for more than an hour, which was the biggest disaster. We just tried things and left everything as is.
This gave me an impression of bad place and the washroom, no cleanliness, bad customer service, and the worst food experience.
When we told about the food, the lady removed the Thali from our order and did not charge us. I thank her for that, but after all the things i noticed and experienced, it didn’t help, because at the end I was hungry yesterday.
One line feedback: you need improvement in every front.
Poor service for a take out order also their food was bland and unappetizing. Save yourself the trouble and order from one of the other Indian places. Ignore the good reviews and take a look at the poor reviews because they accurately describe the quality of the food and you will see how poorly the owner responds to unhappy customers. He literally gaslights every poor reviewer.
Update: This Review is regarding the Barlow NE location, Calgary. Oct. 8th Evening
Ate at Cinnamon this evening and had an absolutely delicious meal. The food was incredible and the service was fantastic. We will definitely be back and I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone I know.
We were a group of 4, all of us really enjoyed their food. Its really nice, their service is pretty good. Do try their maharani platter. Even do they have a good range of cocktails, ambipani cocktail was yum, something unique for us.
Loved this food! Highly recommend to anyone who's craving some filling yet delicious curries, naan and biryani! We came in after 3 and were surprised to see the thali available. I tried the dal makhani thali and my husband tried the maharani thali. Each curry was so creamy and delicious, you could tell they were cooked with a lot of attention! You will not be disappointed with the thalis! The mango lassi was so refreshing to end the meal with. Yum!
Excellent place for a nice evening meal. Great ambiance, food and song selection. The chaaat section is awesome from the menu. Very courteous waiting staff. Definitely going to revisit
This is a great restaurant for authentic Indian Cuisine. We had Maharajah platter, Maharani Platter, Naana, chicken, fish and prawn curries. Food was amazing taste great.
Great service. Parking might be a biy difficult yet worth the visit.
Amazing. I tried halwa for the first time and I do not regret it at all. Perfect food /quality, customer service. Best butter chicken I've had in Calgary.
Everything we ordered was amazing, from drinks, to dinner, to butter Naan and then dessert. Will definitely be a reoccurring customer. I'd give a 20/10 if I could. The hospitality itself was on another level for a restaurant in airdrie. Everybody must try.
Mostly very good. We got all vegetarian: rajma, aloo gobi and the samosa chat with three rotis. Best were the roti - whole wheat, toothsome, just delicious- and the rajma, which I'd had before and which is a steal, a massive portion for $10.99 less my 10% discount for pickup. Less successful but not terrible were the other two dishes. The aloo gobi was fine but I've made it better myself. The aloo (that's potato in Hindi) could have been cooked more, and the gobi (cauliflower) hadn't been fried beforehand and so it wasn't as rich as I'd have liked. The chaat had potential but the chole masala simply was undercooked. The samosa part (you get three in an order) was lovely. All in all, $35 for a mass of food that was mostly very good was gratifying, especially for Indian that's close to downtown. We have lots of leftovers!
Delicious food, friendly and professional servers. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable and relaxing. Absolutely one of my favorite restaurant.one of the best butter chicken I had in Calgary
I simply loved their dishes. I always get fantastic service there. The place is cleam and the employees are always very friendly. Would recommend to others. Miss lunch buffet, butter chicken and dal makhni is the best
We actually liked the food and customer service here, excellent restaurant nearby to my apartment. The staff are always kind. Love the dal makhani here. Will come visit again.
Nice Indian restaurant with good food options. Must try Dal Makhni, its of authentic taste. Better to reserve the table in advance of going on weekend. Due to COVID-19 as settings are limited.
Great experience, the owner and the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. They have chefs from India so the food is as authentic as can be. Their paneer dishes are to die for, I am addicted to their papdi chaat (street food of India), try their maharani platter for different appetizers or the buffet. So much to recommend as every item is well made. Highly highly recommend!
Really love their indian food.one of the best restaurants for indian food in Calgary. The decor is also clean and nice and staff is also good. Great place for family dinning.love their Maharani platter and butter chicken.
The best Indian Food in Calgary, I have been stuck in Calgary for several months Due to Covid-19 and one thing I must say about this Indian restaurant that this is most authentic food you will have in Canada.
Since March till now I have been ordering almost 3 three times a week from this restaurant and every time its the best. I have tried other restaurant but no one can beat the quality as the curries are not watery and spices are perfectly balanced. Butter chicken is same like Gulati Restaurant in Delhi, other my favorites are Dal Makhani, Malai kofta, Lamb Rogan josh, dal Tadka & in dessert specially Moong dal Halwa.
The staff have very kind and in some cases they went out of the way to meet my requirement which is very much appreciated.
Its a tough time for these small business owners and I recommend other viewers to support this local restaurant as they are genuinely excellent.
Will miss them as I will be travelling next week to India and hope to see them next year with my family.
Great food, great service. Butter chicken is probably the best in town. The background music (ghazals) on Sunday night was great. Awesome food. Golgappas must try.must try Dak makhani and Pudina Parantha. Good to see that have mithai now.
Used to love ordering from here and was a frequent customer until this week. Numerous menu items were unavailable. Palak paneer tasted like rotten spinach and was unfortunately inedible, had to throw it out. Veg pakora was fried in stale oil and over-salted. Really disappointed.
We ordered take out, just 2 dishes. They added very small amount of chutney in Chat papri. Even palak paneer had no flavor. Only thing we liked was Naan.
