I brought my pup here for their pup-start class and have been bringing him in since then for Daycare. It's been four years, and I'm always so happy with how he's treated and how friendly the staff are!

The people here are great! I trust them 100% with my scardybrat dog. She is in their daycare 1 day a week and I have seen progress after only 2 visits.

Have been taking the Core class with my dog Poppy. I have used many different training methods in the past but this, by far, is the best, most thorough class I’ve taken. It is intense and requires a lot of time and effort but what you get back in understanding and dog behaviour is amazing. Poppy also loves their day school. She’s happy to go in and she comes home tired and calm. I love that they integrate the training you learn in the classes with the dogs during the day. Highly recommend the classes and day school. Looking forward to more classes!

My son went to puppy classes with his rescue dog, Odin. Odin is now 10 years old and the most well behaved dog I have known. He walks on leash, comes with total recall, and is a joy to be around. I took puppy classes with Moxie, my 8 week old golden retriever based on my son and his dogs experience. The program is the best I have ever attended. (I have been to two other programs years ago.)
I look forward to 15 years with Moxie, and the investment in Clever Canines program is the best investment for our future together. Thank you for your skilled and caring staff who have given Moxie and I a positive start to our happy life together.

Dog training is really good. Already have done two classes and have so much progression showing with my dogs. Instructor is really enthusiastic and a great teacher

We just finished JumpStart training with our very exuberant boxer Zoey. From constantly being pulled by 57lbs of muscle while on a walk, she is now almost walking on a loose leash beside us. She also sat in a stay position for 5 minutes which was unheard of before.
Rachel and Malik were our trainers and were excellent at teaching and reinforcing the basics of the training and demonstrating the required repetition and patience when training our puppies.
We have signed up for the more in depth CORE program starting in April.
We had tried a training program with another company previously that was based on treats which didn't work well.
I'd recommend the Clever Canines JumpStart program to anyone wanting to teach their pet pooch correct behaviors.
Practice makes permanent!

I love the staff there, the girls are always so friendly at drop-off and pick-up. My dog gets so excited to go to school. Most days he runs straight in there without looking back! At the end of the day, he is always so happy and pretty worn out (usually crashing during the car ride home). Seems like the pups get a good balance of play and learning time.

Highly recommend Clever Canines to everyone who loves their pooch and wants to ensure that they will thrive in human world. We are repeat customers: we brought our first dog, va Golden, to CC 12 years ago and our rottweiler girl to the puppy school last year. Both time very satisfied with the experience and the results.

Because I got sick with covid I wasn't able to finish my training class with my dog. I have been chasing them for months now and they keep promising to give me a refun but it's been over 5 months and I'm still chasing them for a refund

My German Shepherd, Luna and I just completed the Jumpstart program and couldn't pass up the opportunity to shout out a big Thanks to the training team at Clever Canines. They were very kind and patient with my big reactive dog and provided me with new (to me) tools to make walks more pleasant. This was a valuable experience.

I would highly recommend Clever Canines to anyone looking for an informative, unique, outdoor, supportive training experience. After initially completing the JUMPSTART program, I joined CORE. This 8 wk (3xweek) course included seminars, lots of online resources, and friendly, knowledgeable trainers. Best of all you get to train outside and explore the many beautiful parks Calgary has to offer. As a new dog owner I appreciated all the info I could get. Helped me feel more confident as a dog owner!

Our dog has participated in jumpstart, core, and day school. Instructors are very knowledgeable and approachable. Very happy with our dog’s progress, and the framework we now have to support his long-term growth!

Chewey had a great time in class, as did I. I was quite nervous before hand, but Bobby and Lindy were amazing instructors to work with and helped put any concerns at ease. Seeing as how Chewey did so well, I want to get him signed up for their core program. All in all, I'm taking him back, so it's worth taking yours to check it out.

Love these guys!

Only fair criticism is it's very hard to get a hold of anyone working there. Phone or email.

We've been taking our fur baby, Finn, to Clever Canines for about 2 months and we absolutely love them! Finn always comes home happy and tired from a fun day at dayschool. We have also noticed that he's much better behaved on the leash and when meeting other dogs on walks. Ohhh and the staff are amazing and always organized - love them!

I had already trained my pup to some verbal and hand signals before starting classes. By the third class, the instructors insisted on teaching down by forcing and hold the pups head almost to the ground until he gave up and laid down. They insisted that I not communicate with him by the hand signals and verbal commands. Then they made me stop before he submitted, twice. This was to give more group instruction. Poor puppy was agitated for hours afterward. Never again!

After a number of failed attempts, Clever Canines was able to help us walk our dog without pulling. As a large breed dog, walking without pulling is extremely important. I highly recommend.

Fantastic experience investing in the Jump Start Program. I enrolled my rescue pup Hazel after searching extensively across the city for a dog trainer that resonated and shared the values I was seeking. This program offered a new found way to connect with her when treats and other methods weren't suffice. I adore their insight on body language and allowed for me to observe my own energy while training with her. Shout out to Bobby, who was energetic, fun and kind to my dog. I received a compliment from a passerby with another dog who mentioned how well trained Hazel was!

The people who have a group in Bownes, unprofessional, we approached to ask for information we started the class with them, in the second activity the guide told us why we had not paid, but no one gave us information before about the payment, I think they lack feedback and professionalism, I don't think I am loving the dogs, they love money. It's sadand, it's embarrassing.

I signed my puppy up for training sessions with Clever Canines back in December 2020. With new Covid-19 restrictions put in place, we were unable to do outdoor training, but was offered online classes, or to wait. I was hesitant about doing classes online, but to my surprise was VERY glad I took them. I found it to be a better way to train with my dog, and take notes so that I can continue using those lessons during anytime I wish to further his training. I can't believe how much information and help I was given from Clever Canines during the Zoom Sessions! It was such an easy process, one that I would happily do again if need be. I highly recommend doing the online classes, because it not only allows for one on one with your dog, but is a great way to increase your bonding with it, creating an easier way to build trust for better training!:)
Also. The day school offered is something if nothing else I would recommend you look into! Not only does it allow for socialization for your dog, but they do training during the day! 5 Stars is not high enough to rate this company!

I took their puppy class and it was absolutely fenomenal. I learned so many tools, I felt really empowered to have a good relationship with my puppy. I also take my puppy to their puppy school, he was shy at the beginning and now he loves it. I can tell he is learning so much there and I get a brake. I feel that they care for him and actually love him. Everyone in clever canine is always super helpful in answering my many questions.

As someone who had never owned a dog (and was a bit nervous around dogs), Clever Canines was the perfect spot for us. They helped us understand not only our dog's behaviour, but the significant impact our own behaviours had on our ability to train our dog Ronnie. Plenty of hands-on opportunity to learn in person with very clear instructions for dog owners to consistently use on their own at home. Over the course of a few months, our dog's behaviour went from fairly unmanageable to largely controllable. With more time post-training with Clever Canines, Ronnie continues to make improvements, as does her owners!

I am going to write our experience with Clever Canines. Our vet recommended it and we thought it was the best place for our dog. First, they never asked us for vaccination certificate or any health records to take our dog there. We were very satisfied at the beginning with the day school services and we even took the pupstart classes.
Our dog tends to eat everything that it's in ground. It's easy to manage and you just have to ask him to drop it or leave it. It's an issue and we were aware about it. But, behind the day school at Clever Canines they have a small backyard with wood chips. Of course, our dog loved it and ate tons of it. The first time, he vomited a hand full of wood chips and we requested the staff to keep him away from it. Wood chips can be very dangerous for dogs, not only can perforate their bowels but it can be poison for some dogs. He is a puppy so it's obvious we should watch what he was eating.
After, a week attending the day school, he vomited again. We talked with staff and requested again to keep him away.
The following week, again the same issue. I emailed the owner (Tracie), never got an response or email.
The issue repeated again and we strongly talked with staff. The answer: We have 77 dogs to watch! The ratio of dog/ staff may be 1 staff for 20 dogs. Do they care about dogs? Of course they do, but it's impossible to watch so many of them at the same time. We just asked to keep our dog away from the backyard and they never took any responsibility.
I felt betrayed and I feel the owners may had a good intentions when they started this business but right now it's all about the money.
I will never take my dog there again and I learned to be careful about where and with who I leave my dog. I truly do not recommend this place and please keep your dog away from there.

Absolutely adore everyone here, my dog Espin had such a wonderful experience with them! I love how he got a walk report card everyday and I was always told who he played with that day! Sadly I had to take a break from the daycare but I would highly recommend anyone taking their pup here because it is truely an amazing and warm experience! Worth every penny! ️️️

We have been going to Clever Canines day school 3 x per week for 1 month and are very very impressed with how our 7 month old pup has progressed. Before day school nobody wanted to walk her because it was a tug o war, hugely frustrating. After 1 month she is now walking beside us, at our pace, and everyone is enjoying the outing (including her). Additionally she is calming herself with minimal effort from us (we ask her to sit and stay and she actually does). We loved our dog before Clever Canines but now we actually like her too:)
Can't say enough about how professional, clean and engaging the facility is. Finally the staff is outstanding and truly passionate about their job. Highly Highly recommend!

I've been a client of Clever Canines for just over two years, our first puppy, Nimbus, completed PupStart and Core in 2018/2019 and our second puppy, Bernard, completed PupStart and the online format of Core in 2020. The online format of Core was perfect for us during a very busy and difficult time. Classes were engaging and well put together for such a short turnaround and we learned more than we did during the original core because of the additional teaching time. I would recommend Clever Canines to anyone who has a dog or will be getting one and wants to learn to train them to be the best companion you could ask for. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!

This July my dog Piper and myself completed The Core dog training program with Clever Canines. I thought in these difficult times Joe did a exceptional job presenting the information through zoom. I quite enjoyed the format, and I was skeptical heading into the class. I would highly recommend the virtual class.

I am now a member of the 360 club and am quite enjoying continuing on with Clever Canines.

Thanks again Joe

We completed the Hybrid Pupstart where we did classes 2x a week on zoom and also some in-person. This fit our lifestyle perfectly as we could join Clever Canines after work from out laptops. I was originally concerned about Sophie not having the socialization, and not getting the hands on attention from the pros but, we found the online learning environment worked better for us for two reasons: 1) our dog wasn't distracted by the other dogs and 2) I could write things down and keep working with her after the training was over. We also brought Sophie to Dayschool a few times where all the training is reinforced and she had amble socialization.

Clever Canine did an amazing job coaching us through video (Tracie didn't miss much!) and they are incredibly responsive and supportive. Any questions were addressed either online, offline or in the parking lot:)
We would choose hybrid classes again.they are the best value.

I went to next door to get my oil changed and while I was there heard pups crying the hole time I was curious and took a peek and I saw other dogs caged up and crying with no one there. I have a small dog if I knew that my pup was caged up like this, I would press charges.
This isn't right.
For all you people that are taking your pups to this kind of training places and think That it's proper for your pup to be caged up all day and crying the hole time, rethink about it would you want your child to be caged up all day long!?

We took our dog Gus to both Pup Start and Jump Start. Wonderful trainers and would recommend Clever Canines to anybody looking for training for their dogs. Fun, friendly environment and highly recommended.

I just completed JumpStart with my second dog. I did both JumpStart and Core with my previous dog, Daisy. It made such a significant improvement in Daisy’s behaviour that I registered again when we adopted Penny. I plan on doing Core with Penny as well. Although she does not have the behaviour problems that our previous dog had, I think all dogs benefit from the consistent approach, mental stimulation and socialization that Clever Canines provides. The instructors are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, and although the schedule is intense, the outcome is definitely worth it. Having a well behaved dog is such a pleasure!

We took our dog to Clever Canines when she was just 10 weeks old and she completed their pup start, jump start as well as their core program. There pup start and jump start programs are great, informative, quick and fun, great for puppies plus we met some life long friends in class.

I would highly suggest doing the core program if you can. I know many people who have not done it due to the time commitment however I think it's key to invest the time if you want the tools to be able to train your dog for years to come. Our dog did fairly well in core class however certainly wasn't top of her class. That being said she left the course with the tools and knowledge we needed to keep up on her training and now she is very well trained and socialized. We get comments all the time on how sweet and well mannered our dog is. Plus the classes are a great way to get outside and see a number of dog parks and get to know other dog owners.

For training I would recommend Clever Canines.

We have also used their daycare services a number of times and if your dog is social and does well in groups this service can be handy as well.

Overall happy with our time there and the staff.

My boyfriend and I enrolled our puppy Harvey in pupstart and core with Clever Canines, and we have taken to him at dayschool as well. The staff at Clever Canines are truly amazing with the biggest hearts, they go above and beyond with their attention to detail and care for every dog they train and help. Our puppy Harvey is very high energy, and Clever Canines has given us the tools and resources to harness his energy mentally on a positive level. Clever Canines is a life saver - all of the staff in our courses has given us exceptional advice and support. Even after training finishes, you can still contact Clever Canines with questions. I have several times, and I find that truly amazing that they care even after training is complete. Clever canines not only trains your dog, but trains you! They believe in educating you to understand your dogs signals, so you can effectively communicate with your dog and build a relationship based on trust and respect. Having the ability to pick up on my dogs signals has made life so much easier, and the training we have done through clever canines truly has given us more freedom in our lives to take Harvey anywhere. For their core program, classes are done all around the city to ensure your dog gets used to different environments, instead of being trained in the same facility. Exposing your dog to different environments is key. I have recommended Clever Canines to many of my friends and family, they are in my opinion the best training facility in Calgary and area. Go train your dog here if you are looking for an excellent training facility and daycare!

I absolutely LOVE bringing my puppy to Day School at Clever Canines. Since day one, shes come home a better puppy! She learned sit by the second day. They have a controlled environment when bringing the puppy in and returning the puppy to your leash. I've used this method with people coming over to my house and it work AMAZINGLY. When I do this within 5-10 minutes shes calm and lounging on the persons lap.

Unfortunately, I was unable to start her puppy training with cultured canines until January 11, so she was going to day school with minimal training. By the time her training had started, I honestly regretted SO MUCH not enrolling her into training with Clever Canines vs Cultured Canines as I didn't find it very useful, and they were very generic so they dont work with your puppy much at all. We've already been working on everything they taught us at cultured because she had already learned it at Clever Canines and we had been doing it at home.

She is terrible on the leash, some days are better than others and she needs a lot of corrections. I am SO happy that Clever Canines doesn't see this as an obstacle they can't overcome as they take her on a walk no matter what!

I got my first report card this month, It was SO nice to see all the notes. I guess the person I should be thanking for all this is Sarah - through her report card it appears that shes been the trainer assigned to her for the most part. I am still trying to figure out which one of you is Sarah, I know my other half has spoken to you and says you are GREAT! Thank you so much Sarah for working so patiently with Honey Mocha, you always tire her right out! By the time shes coming home with me, she is completely pooped, and all she wants to do is sleep and cuddle with me.

I unfortunately was unable to take her to day school this week. I don't miss a week too often, but I gotta say it makes a HUGE difference when I do, even just taking her once a week makes a huge difference, it makes you realize how much they need that mental stimulation. Shes always so calm, shes literally glued to my hip, and she just flops down wherever i am. This week her level of energy has been UNREAL. Shes got so much energy built up since she didnt go to school, I sometimes cant calm her down enough around new people. Even if you cant do twice a week, just once a week makes a HUGE difference.

Honey Mocha loves it here, in the morning she will sleep the whole time in the car, but as soon as we pull up to clever canines and she looks out the window, she goes crazy! She just wants to get out the car, and once she is she literally just drags/yanks me the whole way in (trust me she only ever does this here) when i go out anywhere else (with the exception of long walks) she waits for me because she doesn't know where shes going.
