Co-op Food Store (Chappelle)

Purchased cheese that was bad. Contacted the store the next day. Sent pictures and a copy of my receipt. They need to email too many ppl in their company to get approval for a refund of $5. Why? This seems pretty simple to me. I will not be back. This was a week ago. I’ve never heard of such absurd policies.

The only reason we used co op was for full service gas pumps. It brought the small town home feel. Always tip your gas attendant. I hope they choose to reverse this choice. I'm going to miss my attendant.

The best candy store around! And for finer high quality foods, this is the grocery store to go to.

Two weeks before D-Day, I called Janet (the bakery lady) to check on the price for the cake and cupcakes.

Then a week later, I placed my order via phone and recnfm the price but she CHANGED the price HIGHER! And she said that last week she was busy so she gave me a wrong price.
And I still placed my order via phone anyway and also sent an email as a confirmation.

A week later (on D-Day) I picked up the custom cake and 2 dozen of cupcakes. On the cashier I realized that the price has CHANGED HIGHER AGAIN for both cupcakes and the cake!
She keep changing the price for 2x!

So I did confronted her and asked why the price changed again upon the pick up time? She said this is a good price that she gave me that I wont get this price from other store.

Not only that one time she did this to me. It happened before that too (for a couple times). But I just accepted whatever price she charged me as I dont want to argue or making a big deal abt this.
However, she did it again.
This is so not acceptable!

No more Coop Chappelle bakery.

What makes this place amazing is how underutilized it is. Brand new store, and I feel like I have it all to myself every time I'm in there. It is always si clean. Employees are always so helpful. Amazing priduce section, deli and meats and bakery as well.

I ordered a birthday cake for my Daughter the cake lady went above and beyond to make sure i was satisfied. I am truly grateful to her. Everyone was asking for more. The store is so neat. I always buy cake from them and will keep buying.

The bakery is fabulous.
Their doughnuts are amazing.
And you don't have to pay over 3 dollars for a doughnut.
Best in town.
The deli and sandwiches are fantastic.

I had to get a last minute birthday cake, and being a Sunday at noon, was worried they might be out of birthday cakes. No need to worry though! They were fully stocked with tons of beautiful cakes and the woman who helped me was AMAZING. She was patient (there were a lot of options to go though lol), kind and seemed to love her job. She put the finishing touches on the chosen cake in under 5 minutes and my daughter is so happy! Thank you for the excellent service!

Generally their regular prices are higher compared to other stores, but have also found some good deals here. What keeps me coming back are the very helpful and friendly staff that work here! They also have a nice candy section with a great selection of products that you don't see in most stores.

If Coop appreciates kindness and empathy then LOUELLA - who's an attendant should be rewarded. I was moved to tears yesterday when I needed to buy some groceries and I had lost both of my cards. This lady paid for my groceries. Little acts of kindness makes the world a better place. I hope she seems this review. Louella, the world needs more people like you and I am mo than grateful, you shall be blessed on all sides. If anyone sees this review and visits coop Chappelle, pls ask after Louella and say a big "thank you" to her on my behalf. Thank you Louella. Your helpers shall not be few.

All you would expect a supermarket to have. Very clean, a great bakery, ready to eat takeaway, and good quality produce and meats. However, several times they did not have advertised items in stock.

False advertising! We enjoyed going to the Co-op due to the selection and great dry aged ribeyes. They do have a tendency to advertise items in their flyers as being on sale then when you look around and ask for assistance we are told that they haven't arrived yet. This was the case with chicken legs with back attached. We went there on Thursday Aug. 26 and the butcher told us he was waiting for them to come in that day. We went on that Sunday Aug. 28th and again were told they did not arrive. I said there were fresh legs with backs in the cooler he could sell them for the sales price of $1.79 a pound. The older butcher looked at me and in a condescending tone said "we CAN'T sell those to you for the sales price because they are FRESH! " So that's how much our business means to you that was the last straw. Last time for the Co-op no matter what the location! Very disappointed!

We love this store. It's clean and pleasant and the intercom plays "singing in the rain" whenever the veggies get misted. The staff always take care not to cross contaminate my celiac wife when she gets sandwich meat, and are sometimes successful.
The butcher recognizes us and teaches me cool stuff about cooking meat. This is a great store.

Big shout out to the bakery department. I had a design of a cake I wanted done for a baby shower. I first approached the grocery store chain that I had worked for for over 16 years at a Bc. Location. The store here said that they couldn’t do it for me at much shock to myself. Co-op is close to our new house and they said they could do it for me absolutely no problem. Not only did it look great but also tasted delicious. Thanks once again for your great service.

Lots of stuff that you wouldn't see at any other big name grocery stores but the prices are waaaay to high. Only go there for one or 2 things never grocery trip.

If meat offer, sorry we are out.
If watermelon offer, sorry we are out.
If offer cherry, sorry we are out.
Even I mentioned that to the staff, you know that and sorry we there comment.
Just wasting out time …

The bakery, local food selection, and the sale price items are great. However, multiple times the fruit or vegetables I’ve bought from this store have molded quickly. The front desk staff aren’t very hospitable. And more than once I’ve bought three pork chops and some were steaks! That’s fine for me (better value!) but if I didn’t eat beef I’d be VERY annoyed.

Staff are very friendly. They work together to accomplish customer enquiries and requests. Very professional. I needed Veggie Dogs for my diet to fit my calorie deficit and intake. And even though they had none left, they went above and beyond to make sure I did have at least 1 pack. They checked the back for me and found that the last ones were being used for the BBQ, so they went out, got me a pack, was on ice and as fresh as morning dew. The veggie dogs were delicious. If you live in the area and have not been, I highly and strongly recommend shopping here, even if it is for a few things here and there. Great prices, excellent staff and perfect customer service.

The cake they make is something I found beyond my expectations. I ordered rose chocolate cake with raspberry and chocolate filling. The outside was vanilla icing. The cake was so juicy. I just wanted to thank Janeth who baked the cake for us.

When I visited this place in the morning, a man was making pizza with his hands without gloves. I was so surprised. All toppings are raised by his hands. That's a real natural homemade pizza!

I’m really trying to like our neighbourhood coop I’ve bought so many things that are expired from this store it’s absolutely terrible! I just can’t anymore! Especially when their prices are WAY higher then other companies! And watch their stuff on sale! It’s usually past expiration dates! Produce and meat department have gone down hill in the past year as well! So sad Save your money

Excellent selection. Top quality produce and bakery. They have an awesome candy and pop shop with candy and pop from all over. I found a Rowdy Roddy Piper bubble gum drink with a quote from his best movie "They Live". How cool is that!

I always have a great experience shopping at this Co-op. Staff are always friendly and very helpful.

Today I was super grateful with how helpful Noreen at Pharmacy was. I asked them multiple questions that did not even relate to the medication I was picking and they took the time to answer what they could and what they didn't have an answer for, they looked up so they could help me. They were super approachable and spoke to me in such a kind tone. As someone who tends to worry a lot, I was super calm after Noreen answered my questions.

What a great shopping environment. One of the best! Wonderful meats and fish, amazing produce section, great selections. Bright and clean, great staff.we need Co-op stores in more parts of this city.

Thank you for getting my prescription right the first time. After 7 years Shoppers still could not figure it out. Small thing but meant a lot to me.

I'm all for spending more money on quality food however I was quite disappointed to see the jack up on food Prices that are not even competitive is the pattern of with the national brand save on save on foods across the street do everyone a favor Close your doors put something better in the community as you guys are all of our community

This is a really nice store. Upon entering the store you find it well lit and clean. There is lots of room to move around. The arrangement of the store is well presented and flows nice. My wife and I enjoyed the shopping experience here would return again. There are washroom facilities available here if needed. There is ample parking available. The produce is fresh looking and appealing. The prices are reasonable and there is lots of stock available. The rest of the store is pleasant to shop. There is a pharmacy in the store also. There is also a Co-op liquor store and gas station ️ here.

Absolutely fantastic and love the cashiers! Produce is always fresh and delicious. My only complaint is with the new butcher. I'm assuming they have a new butcher because we never had an issue with meat until recently. Too much fat is left on cuts where there should be no to little fat and the beef tenderloin cuts have been atrocious lately - too thick, too large, and he's very confused when we ask for a specific size. I grew up on a cattle farm so I know a bit about good cuts.

If it wasn't for the one small inconvenience I would've given 5 stars.

The staff are lovely and I enjoy shopping there.once I get in. Gaining access to the store from a wheelchair is challenging. Yes, there are generous curb cuts at the entrance and exit doors to get from the front of the store to the parking lot. This would be sufficient if people exclusively drove to the store and walked (or wheeled) in from the parking lot, but this is not always the case, especially given the proximity to residential areas. Access to the store from the sidewalk along 28th ave is blocked by two large steps in the middle of the path. The storefront itself has large columns out front which, in combination with the racks of plants placed on display in warmer months, make it impossible to fit a chair within the limits of the sidewalk in front of the store. For example, to exit the store and get onto the 28th ave sidewalk (the simplest route for me) I have to roll onto the road in front of the store, then back up the entry door curb cut, and then roll across the rest of the sidewalk and down the grassy hill next to the paved path that connects Co-op to the 28th Ave sidewalk. This also assumes there are no displays from foundations or special promotions set up next to the entry door, in which case I've had to ask people to move their signs so I could get by as well, and that sucks for everybody involved. From the other side of the store (coming off Chappelle Blvd) to the best of my memory as I don't have much use for this route, the sidewalk does not follow the property driveway into the parking lot, requiring one to roll along the street in a rather dangerous and high traffic part of the lot to get to the entrance. This is not ideal. I like this store, but this is a lot of gymnastics just to get to the front entrance. Even if the only change Co-op could make was reducing the size of their outdoor displays, and keeping a shopping cart-width space on the sidewalk in front of the store clear so someone could roll their wheelchair from one end of the building to another, that would be a significant improvement. I will say, once you actually get into the store, things are much easier and there is lots of space to move and mostly get to the products you want, and I noticed Co-op has one of those shopping cart-scooters which is nice to see.

Their sushi is to die for.in my opinion it has similiar taste and quality to restaurants like Mikado. I really like their chicken strips.mouthwatering is all I can say.

I love this store, they have started carrying more organic items and the staff is so lovely. The house brand organic products are excellent.

This place has gone down hill since it opened. Got rid of whole wheat bread. Expired product on shelves. 3 people working the deli, all with their backs turned to you letting you just.wait.

So, I truly like this store, it is close and reasonably well stocked. Today while I was there, I asked the person working in the butcher shop about veal, the response I got was amazing "is it a fish? " He asked. I left the store with out buying any meat.

A pleasant surprise! Store is well stocked, clean, spacious and staff is helpful and friendly. Impressed with the abundance and variety of items available (shelves look to be stocked regularly). Store is well layed out, and the isles are wide enough that you aren't bumping in to other shoppers. Impressed with on site butcher, bakery, pharmacy and deli. Appreciate the option to order online to pick up at a specified time.
Also impressed with the variety of gluten-free options!
When shopping here, you get the small town feel (with exceptional customer service) in the city.

This is the absolute worst store on the Southside! This was about the 4th or 5th time that I have shopped there that they haven't had an advertised item in stock. One would think that on a 10% Tuesday, probably one of there busiest days of the month they would make sure they have everything in stock. I have heard it all, from we didn't get our shipment on to we sold out. (What a crock). Place is so poorly managed it's sickening. I gave the store 2 stars because the cashiers are amazing!

Super amazing place to shop! My wife and I have been to a few of the other grocery stores in the area and this store is by far the best. Staff members are very helpful and super friendly. I’ve also found that the prices here are a little bit cheaper than the other stores in the area. We’ve also dealt with the pharmacy staff and they’re super helpful and very kind. We’ll definitely continue to shop here!

Just moved in the area.visited store last week, to buy something for my husband's slipped disc problem.the pharmacy just closed. A male pharmacist - he was tall - answered all my questions, his suggestions were to the point. Also went to grab few grocery items for me - i have bad knee.he saw me limping and offered to help.
He stayed after hours to help me. Never seen that happen.amazing experience.will definitely come back.forgot to grab his name.a big plus to him

Amazing store. Very clean and great food and bakery. The store always smells like fresh bakery and its displays and make you want to enjoy all they have. They have a lot of original items. Its definitely a must if your in the area and I suggest walk through the whole store they have alotnof good items. I am adding some pics of the bakery just because it is worth noting.

First time in this store (Co Op Liquor, not the food store) today. I am a Co Op member and live across the street, but haven't had the chance to pop in as of yet since if was opened. I have to say I was not impressed. After being asked if I needed help from the one worker behind the cash, I explained I was just checking out what they had and prices. After being there for a few minutes, what seemed like the manager (he was in a suit) came out from somewhere and approached me asking if I needed help again, but why? The only explanation I can see for him to come out of nowhere to ask me after I was asked previously (with no one else in the store as well) was he assumed I was a thief. I got that vibe and I visit many stores and have not felt this before. I said "no" and proceeded to leave and went across the street to the Liquor Depot where I am always treated extremely nice. No thanks Co Op Liquor. I won't be back.

Canadian grown and made foods. A lot of fresh produce (much better quality than Safeway). They have a wonderful deli with many cheeses, meats, and appetizers. The bulk section includes tea! Close to Jagare ridge, Paisley, and Chappelle.

I would love to see extended hours. Pricing needs to be worked on as it's more expensive than most.

The store is clean and bright while the service is excellent.

People accessing the parking lot are doing so by making U-Turns at Chappelle Boulevard instead of turning left or are blocking traffic on Chappelle Boulevard.

Please work with the city to reduce these problems by improving wayfinding, encouraging customers to make safer decisions to access the store, requesting a left turn bay on Chappelle Boulevard, and by asking the city to enforce the no parking zones outside the store. Doing this will make the store and the area around it safer and easier to get around for everyone!

Amazing! These guys always go the extra mile! Had them make me a 1/4 Slab Black Forrest cake and even haters were coming back for 2nd's! *The best apple fritters in the city!

Nice store. Newly opened. Great location so residents of Chappelle and Paisley have a close by grocery. Waiting for gas bar to open.

This CO-OP store is out of my way but I've been to it several times. Their customer service is amazing and far better than any other grocery store in the area. Their pricing is better than the store in my neighborhood aswell.

How do you “run out of memberships” these days when the internet exists? Not too many stores require you to have another plastic card. The cashier wouldn’t even help load my groceries back into my cart while I was paying. She left them close to her so I had to strain my shoulders and back to get them. (Ever hear of ergonomics?) The guy behind me only had a package of cough drops and there was no one else in the store. All those cashiers standing chatting in the aisle and no one would help me? Doubt I’ll be back.

To the 3 women who were working in the deli/ chicken area on Thursday June 27th around 4/5 ish; You guys are so awesome! You all went above and beyond to help me get the delicious sweet Chili wings I’ve been craving since I first tried them from co-op last week! So helpful and you know I’ll be back!

Co- op Chappelle commons is the number one grocery store I have been to, the staff is so kind and friendly. I left a bag of groceries at the till one day and came back a week later to the incredibly sweet cashier telling me I forgot my bag and that she should vouch for me to her manager to get my food back. I was so incredibly impressed by the sweet service that this is the place to go. Thank you!

A great grocery store with fresh produce and a full service meat counter. If you are on the go this grocery store stocks a full service deli plus a soup bar, sushi counter and the famous Co-op Fried Chicken. The store has a great selection of organic items too.

Great Store, not too big or busy. Lots of Perks, enjoying all the home cooked meals this week. So great to have a grocery store in Chappelle.

Fantastic store, wonderful layout. The extensive bakery is definitely a nice feature, the cut to order meat department, the ready to cook meals and selection overall makes this grocery store a 5 out of 5. The staff are very friendly and attentive, I'm so glad to have this addition to my neighborhood.
