I live close by and it is my go to go store. I am Mexican and I've been disappointed in the Mexican section in bigger stores but here, they have really authentic Mexican food. Even corn tortillas!
Clean store and friendly staff. We were looking for the reusable co-op bag we found in Jasper and this was when we realized that not all co-ops carry the same kind of reusable bag. Anyway, we ended up buying kicking horse coffee and chocolates to bring back to Toronto. And the best part was it was on sale too! Good place to buy groceries in Calgary.
This is my go to co op near downtown, the store is at a great location and near the bus stop. Buying fruits and vegetables are always fresh here with plenty of choices
It's on 11st SW and 12th Ave SW on one side and 11 Ave SW on the south side both one way traffic roads a big spaces parking lot great selection and a great bakery and my favorite is the kitchen that serves great food from fried chicken to Japanese food and pasta dishes and soup co-op also has a dinning table insed and outside table with a little patio and pharmacy insed in the middle and it delivered to Marlborough Dr NE on weekdays and it accept Alberta work insurance and AHW insurance and easy to deal with
Writing this review while staring at the guys behind the meat counter on their phones staring at me. Horrible customer service. Well off to another grocery store. Sure they will appreciate my business.
The butcher is awesome. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. This store has some of the best quality food you can find. I've been going here for years!
I've been here countless of times now. It is a beautiful store, very large and has a wide selection of every department. They often have deals that are irresistible. The staff has always been very nice and helpful, especially this one lady at the till, Karen. She always goes above and beyond and makes us feel welcome. I would recommend going here!
A very nice, clean, well stocked and well lit grocery store located in downtown Calgary. This location is not extremely new, but hasn't been around for much more than about 10 years, as so it is fairly modern and contemporary looking on the inside. This store is definitely worth a visit.
Taking bus at Christmas I had a large backpack for groceries. Used wrong store gift card. Had cash, said I'll put back some items as I'll get them at the other store. This CoOp WAS my favorite store. Teller at self serve fought me for my cart which I needed. She tried to take everything off mine. Felt like I was stealing as I took the items from her that I did want to buy. People looking at me, so embarrassed. Didn't even get my Christmas oranges. Days later, phoned manager. He said he saw what happened but didn't come over. I don't think the employee was ever reprimanded and I am now going back only to return my CoOp card. Every time I see Christmas oranges, I am reminded of this. Friends and colleagues want to stop there, but I always tell them about this. They don't go there anymore either.
I have always liked how this store is organized and designed. Even though I don't live nearby and there are closer Co-op stores to my home, I like coming here for a change of scenery. I wish I had a store like this in Montgomery.
It was a pleasant experience shopping at Co-op Midtown. Even though smaller in store area from other Co-op store that I shopped, still it was able to provide a good shopping ambience.
I love this co-op location, we visit weekly. They have awesome, quality produce, an amazing sushi and prepared foods section and lots of variety and options with their shelf stock. The deli, bakery and butcher are awesome too. Its clean and well laid out. Staff are always very happy and helpful. My only complaint is that the cashiers are always very slow at checkout. It's like no one taught them to hustle politely in their training. Otherwise, my favorite co-op location in yyc. The High River location is amazing too!
I like to know what happened with CCPVirus outbreak that happened here in this Grocey store and this was my usual time trip at end of the month (essential trip) and I heard they was outbreak with CCPVirus virus? Just recently and that may put a on me from coming here and go to another grocery stores like Safeway store in market mall on one ️ trip set up (set for multiple Trips) 2 essential days timeline, the big stay at home rules I follow by the set the trip. Post a update on CCPVirus outbreak that happened in this grocery store and safety issues so on
Honestly one of the nicest grocery stores I’ve been to! Tons of local options, plenty of selection, clean and well-laid out. Also really nice interior - not plain looking like a lot of the other co-ops in Calgary. It’s a go!
Was clean and nicely laid out. Watch out for large delivery vehicles off of 10 Avenue SW. This COOP has its loading dock at the parking lot entrance. Other than that fairly easy parking lot to get around in.
The midtown co-op is my favorite place Every weekends I shopping all my favorite foods. And the people who works there, they're really nice they always hard work. Proud of the midtown co-op.
Over the last several months, one of your employees, has stood out about the rest. Kat, who works in the Natural Foods/Herb area, has gone far and beyond what we would expect for customer service. One of the herbal products, that I need for my optimum health, had been backordered for a few weeks. When I mentioned to Kat how much I needed this product, she contacted the vendor to find out how long it would be, before more would arrive. She left a voicemail for me yesterday, and said that it would be the end of February. What is great, and to our surprise, she never gave up! She continued to try to source the product for me, found 3 bottles in Strathmore, and is having it shipped for me to pick it up, on Friday. WOW! #TrueCustomerService! #KatRocks!
Not the best co-op liquor store, I prefer the Richmond Road and High River locations, but this one is good. A little bit confusing to find, like lots of the co-op liquor stores, because they were added after the grocery stores were built, they are often down or across the street.
Nothing at all wrong with this go up location, items are well-stocked places clean. Staff are Family IF you can find them. I don't go here often but when I just need to pick up a few simple items this is my first choice.
In the covid world, they seem to be taking all the right precautions to sanitize, and protect themselves and the public. A little pricey, but who isn't these days.
It is hard to give this store a rating of three as I know most of the employees by name. This being said co-op charges top dollar for their product versus other stores and that being said you expect top service. For the most part the staff are extremely friendly and helpful but the problem seems to show up when it comes to tenure. There are a few departments that move extremely slow and make you feel awkward for even asking for service.
Given I have lived beside this place for almost fifteen years I know which employees have been their for a long time and it appears co-op more than likely has an issue firing them. So you see good employees move into departments and then move out as I am guessing the tenured slower could care less employees scare them away. I have literally stood at one department for ten minutes and the individual working the department saw me (made direct eye contact) and then let me wait while they cleaned their station and finally wandered over to make me feel like I was putting them out for asking for a product.
I noticed co-op removed their complaint box which managers used to be highly responsive to and made immediate changes based on those complaints.
To make things worse there is now a self check out which finally has a line label that caused chaos for years as to where one would stand to buy their groceries. On top of that no discount is offered for checking out your own groceries, when I can I try and stand in the teller lines to support their jobs and well get my monies worth. Why do I not get a discount when I do the tellers job at self check out. Also how do I know my bag is going to charity these days? They used to ask now I get mixed stories it is automatic. I wonder if the charity has seen a reduction in donations and this was a profit move or lack of oversight.
The pharmacy is also a nightmare. I do not think this is necessarily the fault of the pharmacist, I am guessing this is a volume and staffing issue. If I walk across the parking lot to another pharmacy I can sit and wait and get my prescription in about 10 minutes. Co-op you can wait for up to an hour. As well they are not fully educated when it comes to new medications and the laws surrounding those medications. This makes it very frustrating when they make you follow certain rules and pretend they are a huge deal, but they miss even larger more important rules. It lacks professionalism and just seems random.
Also when you need something from over the counter some pharmacist make you go to one window and then others ask you to go to the other side. I was scolded like a child once when I went to my normal window and the newer worker decided I should be at the other window. Maybe a sign in further detail indicating what each window does versus pick-up & drop-off is needed. This is hard to write as many of the staff are super friendly.
More recently I walked into the co op on the far right hand side of the sliding door. A gentleman was on his phone and instead of passing far away he hit my shoulder and arm. I didn't think anything of it and then he started yelling at me. He then went on to tell me he worked at coop. I asked what he would like to do. He indicated talk to a manager so I obliged. We went to the manager who was very confused and allowed the employee to keep fighting with me in front of a crowd. Instead of being like hey why don't we cool off and go talk in here the manager just let it play out in front of a crowd of employees and customers. This is when I offered to phone the police and all of the sudden things seemed to quiet down and I walked away. Was very strange to have a coop employee yell at me.
This place is a block away from where I live. It's quick and convenient, and has everything you could possibly want. It's only a couple of blocks from their competitor Safeway, but I go to court because I have a far better Deli and meat selection, how to get an overall better vibe from the staff.
Market close to home. Need a quick stuff for that dinner, need option of variety of that snacks to keep the kids busy, sitting at home to watch Netflix and need the snacks and ice cream to make the movie more interesting then here's your closest and cheapest downtown market. Accessible via public transport with 6 stop right in front, enough room for parking and u need no coin to grab a trolley for your shopping. See ya there
Hands down Midtown Market one of the best Co-op locations in the city featuring an excellent selection of product in a bright, clean, and inviting environment. They have most things on sales which compete with other stores. Parking can get busy on the weekends, but there is street parking all around the block. If you can't find the time to get in that weekly grocery run because of a packed schedule, this location is also open until midnight but also has loads of employees helping you check out.
All their vegetables and fruits are not fresh as they advertise. A lot of their fruits are already past and rotten inside. You should pay attention when they have on sale products.
