Been going to Comic Readers since before they moved to their current location, and I've always been treated well. Always tons of neat products and really helpful staff.
In December, they held a Christmas draft for Magic: The Gathering and based on what they charged for the event and the amount of product going around, they took a several hundred dollar hit just to provide a fun experience and show their appreciation to their customers. I don't know many other businesses that will make that sacrifice.
Used to play Magic the Gathering at this location. Over a period of six months or more, I noticed the amount of cheating going on, including other players helping each other to do it. They don't have a judge at the events, making it impossible to address it.
Other things include some items selling for double the price somewhere else. One of the workers is rude. He swears constantly, treats you like an inconvenience, and you have to force them to go check on their stock while over the phone.
I wanted an 8pack icons of the realms mini set that was on the top shelf. The guy offered to give me a boost. I laughed so hard. Great store! Great guy. I come back once a week. Thankyou!
Good selection of nerd paraphernalia. You've got your minis (big sections for Games Workshop stuff) and accessories to go with (paints, glue, modeling supplies, game mats), CCGs (Magic and others), large D&D/other RPG systems at the back, a large supply of board games, action figures, tons of comics, a large manga section, etc. If it's nerdy and you need it, this is the best place to stop in Medicine Hat!
A pretty great shop. Not cramped walking through there and has a great selection of comic’s, collector’s items and, board games. It has plenty of models and paints to browse.
Great comic books store, very good Gamesworkshop selection as well as vast selection of comics, board games, paints etc. Grrat resource to have in thr City
I just started playing Magic The Gathering with my husband and our friends and we went on a little shopping spree through Comic Readers. They have an insane amount of comics, figurines and almost every card or board game you can imagine. The staff know when to leave you alone so you can browse freely which is really nice, but also accommodating when you can't find something.
I play here for Magic events. The owner is friendly and funny. There is a good mix of players from casual to highly competative. I've always felt welcome whenever I have attended events. I used to mainly only play digital versions of the game, but having a group of players to discuss the game with has really helped me improve as a player. I definately recommend supporting the store and checking out their events.
I did think the selection was great the posted prices were not outrageous, but clearly overcharged me $10 on one of my purchases and I didn’t notice until I got home. It’s unfortunate because I would have been back for the content but I guess I’ll just buy online. I definitely won’t be back
Tons of selection - games, comics, figurines, you name it! And the staff is _always_ friendly and knowledgeable. Great for gifts from 8 to 98 years old.
