Commissionaires - Calgary

People nickle and dime you anywhere they can, charge out the wazzoo and have to wait 120 days for results? Naw. I know this is the industry standard but you're getting a review for it as you are the one advertising the services.

Just south of here is "Apex Screening" same trash prices, but much shorter wait times for an appointment.

Terrible experience with using the Commissionaires for fingerprinting RCMP check. I was extremely specific with the check I needed. The guy said, “I do this all the time. ” My understanding now is that he consistently does his job WRONG! They provided no itemized receipt, just the payment receipt. It’s now been over 100 days and I’ve gone to another agency and was told by them, that the Commissionaires should have provided a DCN (document control number). I have followed up with the Commissionaires multiple times and this same guy is always there. He has only said that I need to follow up with the RCMP. Who at the RCMP? He won’t say. I have no idea where my personal information has gone to. The RCMP needs to REVOKE the COMMISSIONAIRES ACCREDITATION as they are HIGHLY INCOMPETENT! STAY AWAY! Use any other provider. I recommend using Canadian Legal Resources Centre. I went there to submit a new request - since I have no idea what happened to my submission from 100 days ago! They were extremely professional and knew exactly what I needed. They not only provided me with a DCN but also the proper RCMP contact information, in the event that I don’t receive my document in a timely manner.

The man who does the finger printing and criminal record checks is beyond incompetent. I've been waiting for almost 4 months to hear back from the RCMP and they say they never received my request. As it turns out there is a DCN (document control number) generated when a request is submitted. I was never told about this by the commissionaires and as such I have to assume that they have no idea what they are doing and that they never sent my request to the correct people.

Excellent communication, courteous staff. Took the time to walk us through the requirements for a finger print and set us up with the next steps

Worst experience for fingerprint services. The staff taking the fingerprints was very old, rude, grumpy, and arrogant and was totally uninterested in listening to what the client has to say.

I had to take ink-based fingerprint impressions for some documentation but that guy kept insisting on digital ones, for unknown reason. He initially refused to see the documents I had brought to get impressions on. When I still pulled the papers he look startled don't know why. Then with visible irritation on his face he stopped digital application and then finally went for ink impressions.

I was getting "Don't talk to me just do your digital fingerprints, pay us money, and go away" vibe from him.

I am never going to come back here again. I recommend finding other RCMP approved fingerprint service.

Worst fingerprint service ever! No respect, no patience, no DCN number provided. Avoid this agency!

The old man who gave fingerprint service is very rude and has zero interest in his job. Everything he said to me showed his disdain and contempt. This is a job that does not require any academic qualifications, IQ, or work experience. Anyone with a normal mind can do this job. But Commissionaires Calgary hires someone unsuitable to do the job.

Commissionaires is Canada’s largest private sector employer of veterans and the only national not-for-profit security company.
My employer told me to get a fingerprint from the Commissionaires office.
So went to Commissonaires office this afternoon for a fingerprint service.
The receptionist welcomed me and soon a gentleman helped me with the paperwork.
It was very quick and professional.

Very professional place - I received fingerprinting for employment here this past week and the service was amazing. Very kind, patient, and knowledgeable staff made the experience effortless.

Such a pathetic security staff that works at service canada which is Located at temple Drive NE. You will always see that one lady don’ t know to communicate with next person. She is always rude to me when ever i went to that location.

**Anybody Else Experience This - I invite you to comment as well** - Approx four years ago, I applied for a position as a Photo Radar Operator. This position was understood by all applicants to be an open competition as it was advertised on Indeed and the careers section on their homepage. I was hopeful and excited to be subsequently invited for an information/testing/interview session.

At this session, all the attendees were notified fairly quickly that the Photo Radar position (s) were only for those currently employed as a commissionaire. More specifically, it was a closed competition where only current employees could apply.

Me, and others at the session kept fairly quiet, but it was obvious many of us were disappointed. Additionally, after getting excellent results from the testing and interview, I was notified they would have a position for me, but not the one I understood I was applying for.

I understand the merit of rewarding loyalty and promoting within, however many of us felt that SA Commissionaires were advertising the more desirable job postings simply in order to boost their recruitment. I recently emailed them to enquire if that is still the practice as was related to us four years ago. I have presently not received a reply.

This review is a means to notify future applicants that the position you are applying to may not be available, nor was it ever intended to be available to the public.

Needlessly rude to their paying customers. If you have other options for their services, I highly recommend avoiding them.

Needed fingerprinting for a license. They were fast and professional. No issues with going here again for whatever services they offer.

The officer who was doing fingerprints was so rude with us I took my parents there for fingerprints he was using slangs and felt so awful we are not criminals his behavior was bad.

Quick and very professional service. A bit far if you're coming from Canmore. Might want to combine with other errands in the city.

Their fingerprinting services are terrible and absolutely horrible customer service.

We were getting fingerprints done to send off to another country for background check and what we got was absolutely childish.
We had explicit instructions from immigration Canada to which the person who was performing absolutely refused to look at; the service and the product we received was horrifying.

What we received looked like a photocopy from a 20 year old elementary school photocopier that was never serviced and ran out of toner months ago.

I questioned the quality with the person who had done them and they were extremely rude and said the prints were perfect for sending away to another country.

We approached our lawyer and asked them about the quality we received and it was of their opinion that what we received is no where near the RCMP standards for doing a background check.

Commissionaires should be ashamed of their fingerprinting services, especially if they are supposed to be RCMP accredited.

Unfortunately I will not publicly post photos of the fingerprints as we do not want the prints to be floating over the internet, however I will take some clips of the pictures to show the quality of what we received.

Dennis and the staff are not very bright. If you're not a friend of management you are treated poorly even if you are ex military. HR is of no help either. Limited sites.

Top notch security firm. This is not just a security company. They are well trained and offer a superior security solution. Most of the staff are ex-vetrens and have great discipline and respect.

This Course was simply awesome for me!
Now, definitely I have more of confidence to handle any incident or issues at my next place of work.
I am really grateful to Commissionaires for making us trained security personnel.

In the Incident Report Writing scenario if Bomb Threats and Fire Fighting could be added, it would be more realistic and beneficial a course for the security guards.

I Finished the Commissionaires Service Excellence Course (CSEC) (2nd - 6Th /March/2020), with instructor Karen Holmes and with another amazing staff in Company. They was so Cooperative and answering with all my Questions in my mind. Training was very highly professional and I had the pleasure of receiving such knowledge information training with them and I am sure that I am Ready and I can face all conditions are difficult for me in the work because the training was distinguished and simulated the most difficult conditions that could be face me or happen in the future. And that training was and will be useful to me not only in practical life, but also in normal life as well. Thank you for your supporting us with such training and high professionalism. I just took the CSEC course with the Commissionaires, very great course taught by Karen. Lots of valuable knowledge gained from this course. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a security company to work for.

This company is really best security company in Canada which has distinctive and extraordinary selection procedures of the employees though online examination, objective grammar test, situational based security and compliance examination, phone interview and one week training before going to work site. Personally speaking, words of my dictionary can't address the impressive training of the trainer, Karen with whom I am indebted.

I have just finished my first week of training with The Alberta Security College. The level of instruction is very high! I have learned a lot and there is so much more to learn! I am returning to the industry after having being away from it for several years and I am confident to say that this is the best pre security training I have ever had. I have taken many classes in customer excellence, however not as well taught and full of exercises as this one. I honestly look forward to the Basic Security Training I will be attending next week. I imagine this class will be as well taught and even full of more exercises. The Commissionaires are truly a quality first Security company. If anyone is looking for honest and valuable training. The Alberta Security College developed by The Commissionaires is the place to go! Thank you Karen and Sayla for the awesome training!

Underwent the Commissionaires Service Excellence Course (CSEC) from January 6-10,2020. Karen Holmes is an incredible instructor with a vast wealth of knowledge and expertise. The Canadian Corps of Commissionaires - Southern Alberta are definitely a cut above the rest of the companies that provide contracted private security. The week-long training ensures that the Corps is producing quality personnel and providing quality service.

The great reviews are about courses.what about working here. Yes they have great courses.worth 5 stars. But. Chris in Hr does not have the care or concern in that role. Ask people who work for or with him. Lots of people have had less than kind things to say. He has no time ever to help. That is why people say bad things about the Corps. And him. Its not the company but the people there in. He may be a great guard or team lead but terrible at Hr. Charles C. Is awesome at Hq. As is Zia at yyc. And Mike Harry Hayes.and so many who work so hard. Lots of good people but a few not so good. Again one bad apple.to bad for the tree.wish i could give more.

The company itself is pretty good to work for. However, my supervisors were extremely rude and made my job extremely unpleasant. Sad to see these people aren’t dealt with accordingly.

I just completed the 5 day Alberta Basic Security Training course conducted by the Corps of Commissionaires for Southern Alberta. This is an excellent course, conducted by very knowledgable security professionals who are SERIOUS about what they do. My thanks to Karen Holmes (Chief Instructor) and others who contributed to this training. It's an eye opener and I highly recommend it to those who have a serious interest in becoming a security professional.vvv

I completed the 5 day Alberta Basic Security Training course at the Alberta Security College (by the Commissionaires Corps) two weeks ago and I must say, I highly recommend this course to anyone who has a concrete interest in becoming a security professional in Alberta.

It's the very best security training you can get around. Karen Holmes (Lead Instructor) is a really good instructor who does her best to make even the most complicated concepts as simple as possible. She is a very disciplined, knowledgable and experienced security professional who carries everyone along and ensures students understand various concepts effectively.

I am grateful to Karen and everyone who contributed to this training and I would reiterate, if you have to get your security training done then it has to be at Commissionaires.

I just got a new job and had to provide them with a background check. Commissioners were great and really fast.

I have just attended the Security licencing course taught by Karen Holmes at the Corp of Commissionaires of Southern Alberta. The standard of instruction was high. Their expectation of current and future employees can only be described as professionals. It was refreshing.

The training that I have received both during the ABST and CSEC course was second to none. As an instructor I must complement all those involved with the way they delivered the material. The material is relevant, real world and is backed up by their own personal experiences. Continue to keep expanding the program.

During the past month I have spent over 80 hours training within the corporation. I would recommend this training centre for all your training needs.

Training instructor was very focused on the topics related to course and share wide examples related to course. Videos and some expert in particular field made this course more interesting.
