I actually am obsessed with this small out of the way diner. The food is amazing the staff are amazing and super friendly and attentive. The prices are amazing for the quality of food you get. Feels just like home with a retro twist.

The food is so good, and the service is excellent. This most recent visit even had live music on a Saturday morning.

For many years I've been seeing this restaurant along Jasper Avenue and heard nothing but great things, however due to my busy schedule I never found time. Today was finally my chance due to an appointment nearby and I was met with warm greetings by the staff. The place has a warm comforting vibe from classic 90's era diners due to the simplicity. I ordered the Liver and Onions for lunch with fries and butterscotch pudding on the side. It was amazing. Almost forgot to mention the pea soup was also very delicious. Haven't had a lunch this good in so long. I'm aching to come back in the weekend for the good eats, good vibes and good service.

Came here for breakfast/brunch. Place is clearly a local favourite so we decided to try as we are visiting.

Very cute diner-looking place and frequented by locals. You can walk in and sit anywhere that’s free. The staff are very friendly and menu is easy to navigate.

We tried the omelette, French toast and hot cakes. Omelette was good, would recommend getting that as it’s your best bang for your buck. The hot cakes were pretty standard and well-portioned. The French toast was unfortunately underwhelming. It didn’t have the powdered sugar and wasn’t sweet at all.

Great service, all day breakfast. My wife loved the Banana Bread french toast with bacon and glazed banana was outstanding. I enjoyed the homemade corn beef hash, great flavours. This has become a weekend favorite for breakfast with unique decor. Old fashioned diner.

Went here for breakfast and I will never visit again. Don't understand why people like this place. The part of my meal that I did eat was flavorless, which I'm thinking was a good thing because, the part that did have flavour was stomach turning. I usually withhold my bad reviews but when I leave a restaurant trying to stop myself from getting sick I have to speak up.

When I walked into the Commodore I was reminded of the warm and familiar memory of those good old Zellers restaurants. There were only 4 customers when I arrived and I was greeted warmly by the waitress. I’ve always loved those “greasy spoon” restaurants that serve simple yet delicious food at a surprisingly reasonable price. I had one of the specials of the day (coffee, corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and gravy, a starter side of beef noodle soup and vanilla ice cream with chocolate drizzle) for only 13$. I used to eat the same kind of meal as a child, and I loved it! The restaurant started filling up with customers whom the waitress greeted by name, and for most of those customers she knew what their order was going to be. For a family run business to have lasted for over 75 years you know they are doing it right. I will definitely be returning to the Commodore to eat again and again… and again.

If you want enjoy an unfussy meal in a diner straight out of last century, this is the place for you.

Good food with friendly staff. They must be doing something right since they have been around since 1942. I think last time I was there was 50 years ago. Still good food.

Such a cute little place! Food was great and affordable, the staff were super friendly and it just generally had an amazing atmosphere.

Food here is home cooked. I love the portions. You can eat a full course and have coffee and a pie and ice cream for all under $18.00. There potatoes are like how us Aboriginals like then fried. Mmmm the food is so good. It's a lil hidden secret dive on Jasper Ave. I love the coffee lol I love this place. Always a pleasure to eat here plus it's barely ever packed and the food is out to you fast. So if you like small conversation or to read the news paper and relax with good people, this is the place.

Amazing place.hand-pressed burgers very rare to find. I ate two of them. Roxanne is an awesome server she's on top of the game. I will bring my child there for milkshake.there is so much history in that building compltely positive.thank you again. Very very courteous service

Good little lunch spot. Price is great for what you get. Serving size is smaller then most places, but perfect to not feel over full. Service is great never have a problem getting in and out in the hour I have for lunch.

Hands down best food and service! You need to try it now. Go find yourself some parking and get in there. Also, they do accept cards. Enjoy!

No question about it that the Commodore is where I go when I want great food at a very reasonable cost. The service is superb. They make you feel extremely welcome. I love this place.

I have eaten here a number of times and have always enjoyed the food.
We normally come early Saturday as the doors opens for breakfast. The price is fair and the quality is excellent. I really need to try the lunch menu soon.

I find the service differs greatly depending on who you get. Having said that I will pay closer attention to my server next visit.

On the morning of our visit there were 6 people in the restaurant. We were 3 of those 6. After waiting for 45 minutes to get our order I finally asked were it was. Our server told us she had forgotten to place the order. Really? That certainly puts a damper on the meal. Most of the negative reviews on this site refer to service. This may an area to address.

Quirky and nostalgic, The Commodore serves up straight forward food at amazing prices. The service is pleasant and no nonsense. A great place for breakfast.

Favorite Diner! The best place to hang out with cool, friendly non-hipsters, fun, no-nonsence servers, and have great value for money. Now with entertainment! I wish they would open earlier on Sundays, and had more bicycle parking.

If you live in the city and haven't been, you're either vegan or really don't live here. My favorite diner in the city. Locally owned by the same family since the beginning. Support local and travel back in time to a 60's diner.

This is the oldest business in Edmonton. The husband and wife owners are amazing. If you want a true diner feel with great homemade breakfast at a fantastic price point. Come down check out the live music every weekend all local artists.

Neat old school place. Food was great and prices were good. Live bands on Saturdays makes for a good weekend lunch spot.

Food is excellent and well worth your money. However, I have a few criticisms. One of the wait staff seemed angry and was kind of snippy during one of our interactions with her (fortunately not the one that was serving us). I'd say that the decor was disappointing for a place with such rich history and potential. I had to wait until after my meal until my cup of water was refilled. And lastly the voluntary live musician was sort of painful to listen to. I would still come back if I was hungry, the hamburger steak was really well made.

Our waitress was very nice but the food was not good at all. I thought it was a diner with great food.nah! And the waitress with dirty black dress might wanna invest in some laundry soap.and shampoo before your handling food. Just a tip!

I really liked the breakfast food, especially at its low prices. The vibe was pretty great as well, though parts of the interior could probably use some refreshing. Some of the decor made it feel old rather than old-school. Still, the service was great and friendly and I am excited to go back to try the lunch menu.

If you want a really good meal full of comfort food, this is your place. Very unassuming place that has the feel of a classic diner. Excellent selection of food, very reasonable prices, and great portions.

We went at lunch during the week, and it was almost full. Speed of service was as expected, and the food was good quality. I work close by, and will definitely return again.

Ok, don't come here for fancy. Come here if you just want an honest to God, regular old burger or sandwich done the way it was always intended with a side of crinkle-cut-fries. It's a diner in the purest sense.
