Absolutely love this place and the food is phenomenal! It’s so wonderful to be able to go to a restaurant and be safe for someone like my wife who is celiac. I highly recommend this place all around! The staff are absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere is old-school cool. We will definitely be back! Thank you!
My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful date night here. The night we came there was live jazz music! What a treat. Everything we tried was remarkable and we cannot wait to come back and try more. We had escargot, dill pickle soup, goulash, salmon and tiramisu!
Great atmosphere, good food and great service. Chicken in mushroom sauce was very good. I didnt care as much for the shredded beets. Overall a very nice place.
Extremely hot in the restaurant. The food was okay - the Whyte Avenue location has better food and larger portions. I will not be going to this location again…. Disappointing: (
We have spent hundreds of dollars at Continental Treat. Their food is very good if you enjoy Polish/European cuisine. However, in the last year or so, not only have their prices have risen significantly but what is most annoying is their options for "tipping" for both "dining-in" as well as take-out. My most recent take-out order automatically added a 20% tip to the cost of the order. In my mind that is ridiculous. It encourages me to no longer recommend this restaurant to friends.
We had a lovely time here. We ordered the camembert cheese as a sharable, a bit disappointed as it was served with rye bread (would have preferred crackers) but the cheese and toppings were delicious. My girlfriend had the borscht and she loved it; I had the sauerkraut and potato soup and I was very disappointed, it lacked any flavor (I believe they rinsed too much of the brine off of the sauerkraut, this soup needed some kind of bite to it). The lovely waitress, Beverly, took this off my bill and even gave us a special chocolate cake for my birthday, which was that day. Not sure, if we will come back here.
I love this restaurant. Had heard of it but never been until a few weeks ago. The atmosphere is beautiful and the server and manager very hospitable. Also appreciate their vegan option and 50% off wine and beer on Wednesdays.
We celebrated a friend's birthday tonight. The schnitzel was very good, and the dill pickle soup is very tasty. Our server dud an excellent job of caring for us.
A beautiful experience! A taste of Europe. A very unique menu. Pricey but very good value for your money. Parking around back; otherwise very difficult street parking on a main drag.
Ordered the beef tartar which was about 50% raw onions. It was not edible. I sent it back but they charged me for it anyway. The entire $29 for the lunch entree. Also the floors of the restaurant are carpeted which probably contributes to the smell. The staff seemed nice. I was surprised they charged for the entree.
It was busy and we were there celebrating a friend's birthday but I ordered the drink special strawberry campari and didn't get my drink until after our meals were served. Not impressed and the perogie should have had a vegetable or side salad. Very plain for $23.
Best pickle soup in town. Wonderful Hungarian goulash as well. Great room with a wonderful ambiance and view of the denizens of Whyte Ave to entertain you during dinner.
Update: still rocking the pickle soup and goulash.continues to be a go to when in Edmonton.
We tried this restaurant for the first time for our anniversary and the food was amazing. Our waitress (Gwen) was super nice and helpful with questions and suggestions. I really liked the coziness of the restaurant (Whyte ave location) I would highly recommend.
A great German dining experience. As I can't compare to actual in country dining (yet) the food was fantastic. Soups are a must, delicious and hearty. Chicken and shrimp dish was great. Bread and beer was authentic. Prices vary but most were above $30 when all was said and done. On Whyte ave which is currently under some construction so it was a pain to get there. Parking is around back.
We ordered a few items for take out, one of them being the beet root salad. The first issue I encountered was the portion size. I thought there must have been a mistake and I was given a side salad rather than the full salad as the portion size was extremely small. The second issue I encountered was that I had specifically asked for the dressing on the side so as not to have a soggy salad when I got home. Needless to say the dressing was on the salad. The third issue was that in the description it clearly says there are walnuts in the salad. There was none to be found. The overall experience has left me unsatisfied and extremely disappointed.
What a wonderful little place! We came here as a party of 3 with one who is gf. We loved that she could order anything on the menu without worry. Our server seemed new but was friendly and aimed to please. Good wine selection, with lots of internationally brewed beers.
The soups were incredible, the borscht was my favourite. The appetizers were also excellent, smoked salmon and escargot. Escargot was our favourite. I would love to come back and order straight appy’s!
The mains were good, the schnitzel was the favourite, it was impeccable. Impossibly crispy and juicy. My rouladin was a bit dry and lukewarm when it was served. The tartare was a little over seasoned and salty but quality meat. Dessert was strudel. For a gf pastry it wasn’t bad, but we craved more filling.
What an awesome place. Dill pickle soup was absolutely delicious as well. Would highly recommend for to anyone and especially those who are gluten-free or celiac. The entire menu is gluten-free.
