I recently had a friend die of an undiagnosed cancer, and wanted to be thoroughly screened. Based on their claim of “advanced diagnostic screening” I had a Preventative Health Check done. The cost to me was just over $2000. The result I received was basically the same as an annual checkup with my family doctor.
To be fair, this assessment would provide value to someone who had never had an annual checkup, or had no understanding of exercise (that it’s good for you), or no understanding of basic nutrition (that fruit and vegetables are good for you and too much meat and sugar are bad). For normal people, the information was basic. They interviewed you and if you mentioned any concerns, it was regurgitated back in the report, saying this should be checked.
I indicated I was not satisfied with the result and spoke to the manager (CT). I asked about “advanced diagnostics” and she indicated they did more of that in Calgary, but not Edmonton. JN then called, and I asked her about the same thing. She apologized, and said they were looking at changing the wording. In their final word on the matter they used verbiage such as “in depth comparative health recommendations” for what I thought were the most basic of points. Their billing breakdown appeared to be about 50% administratively oriented.
I rated an extra star because everyone I spoke or interacted with were very polite and nice. My experience with this PHA was it was a waste of money, but if I didn’t have a doctor, or have any knowledge of basic nutrition or exercise, it might have been more informative.

I have sent in the new client form twice and have called twice. Are you no longer taking patients? Have been trying for 1 month to see you guys.

First off, the reviews from when this was Copeman should be reset and not carried over. Ever since Telus Health took over, the quality of care has gone downhill, even the staff there have admitted to this. Their current 3.8 rating is not a true accurate rating. There is no consistent follow up for annual checkups, they refuse to see you if you are sick (isn't this the point of seeing a doctor?), yet they are more than happy to take your money every month. Front reception has been rude at times, messed up appointment times and then have the nerve to deflect it back to the customer. They can only referrer you to specialists (they don't have any themselves) and you'll wait just as long to see one as if you general doctor referred you. What do you think happens when a tech company tries to capitalize on health care?

I started with Copeman Health now Telus Health. I can not thank them enough for the care that Dr. Keys and the whole clinical care team. They were instrumental in diagnosing a condition I had developed, but with persistence I have made a great recovery. The health care plans offered are worth every dollar in my opinion! A great plan that covers it all in a convenient location.

I paid for Copeman because I suffer from a complex medical problem that was not appropriately treated through Alberta Health, but when business as usual at Copeman failed to solve my problem, the staff at Copeman did nothing. Yes, I was ill and in pain, but I did the research, I networked with professionals, and I identified and paid for treatment from healthcare providers other than Copeman. So if you wonder why I paid $4,650 for a LifePlus Membership of consistent mediocrity, you have keener diagnostic skills than anyone I encountered at Copeman. I will also note that Copeman never had a fully functioning computer system the entire time I was a client there, and given that they are owned by Telus Health, that is another troubling point to ponder.

This clinic believes it is appropriate to fax a 300 page document with irrelevant information when a one page referral document would suffice. After replacing my fax ink cartrage and having my staff spend 30-45 minutes of time to ensure that no other relevant fax information from other clinics were sent to my clinic I began to understand how poorly managed this clinic actually is. I realize now that that this group cares nothing about other physicians in the region and does not take responsibility for their actions. After speaking to the reception and the clinic manager it is clear that "it wasn't my fault" and "mistakes happen", but clearly this type of thing is commonplace at this office. I would warn to everyone that mistakes in health care costs lives, if this is the way that the management and clinic treats patients and patient care issues I would stay away from this clinic for the sake of you own health.

A huge thank you to all the staff at Edmonton Copeman Healthcare for their excellent care! They went above and beyond helping me through a very difficult diagnosis. Dr. Plucinska is an excellent caring doctor and I would highly recommend her to anyone as well as Joey from Physiotherapy. I will definitely be a life long patient of theirs and would recommend them to everyone!

I am always blown away by the quality of care at Copemans. Everyone is so kind and Dr. Plusinska is an angel. Low wait times if at all. The facilities are beautiful.

From reception to the doctors, first class service. We have been members here for a little over 4 years and never have had to wait to see a doctor, if your assigned doctor is busy there is always someone there to help you.

My personal doctor is Dr. Friesen and she is one of the most kind hearted and compassionate Doctor I have ever met, and very knowledgeable as well.

Yes a little expensive but I don’t find you can put a price tag on health!

Well done Copeman!

The one star review posted previously is almost laughable, you couldn't ask for a better healthcare provider then what you will find at Copeman Healthcare.

Copeman will almost always see us the same day when we call in sick or they will call us back promptly when we're in need of assistance. After being patients for a few years now, our family feel the staff at Copeman genuinely care about us and our well being. Worth every penny!
