The cupcakes not fresh and they are very dry I will never go back again. We are expecting fresh cupcakes not old cupcakes been setting there. We pay regular price and we are expecting fresh stuff.
Delicious cupcakes, nicely presented. Tried a new pretzel topped icing flavor and it is my new favorite. The customer service could improve. Otherwise, a good spot in the west side for a sweet treat.
Absolutely awful customer service today. I can’t imagine we will ever purchase from this location again, I will be sending an email detailing exactly the type of service we were provided. I hope in future, you can train your staff, on respect, patience, lying, avoiding condescending attitude and overall how to provide a decent attitude. 2 girl staff members in particular today around 1-130 pm showed the exact opposite to all of the above, so rude!
P.s this is coming from a person who used to regularly buys cupcakes from here…
I just went to get cupcakes and THE LADY wasn’t friendly at all. I normally don’t put reviews like this, but she just stared me and just put cupcakes. When I asked a question, she just shook her head. She did not say hi or thank you either. I will not go back here.
Cupcakes were awesome but customer service from more than one employee was less than desirable. It felt as if they were all miserable working for Crave and could care less about helping you.
The cupcakes are always great but the staff are hit and miss…. They make you feel like they are doing you a favour by serving you and not friendly at all…. With the exception of 1 or 2 depending on the day and the mood in there…. Remember without us (the customer) you have no business and no job!
I always pop in for a couple dozen crave cupcakes when I visit Calgary from out of province. I noticed that unfortunately they have started to make these cupcakes smaller than before. I hope this isn't a cost saving tactic. Paying a premium for a good quality cupcake only to discover the size getting smaller. Very disappointing.
They used to have good plastic containers but ever since they switched to cardboard it’s a disaster. These aren’t even recyclable because the city doesn’t allow dirty containers. No longer a nice bow or even presentable. Cupcakes get super dry instantly & don’t transport well. They fall around with the slightest bump & get ruined. Prices have gone up but quality has gone down. Staff tend to be rude. Hours are terrible. Very few flavour options even over an hour before closing. Don’t throw away your money.
Favorite cupcake shop. They offer a whole size cake as well. However I love mini cupcake size for sharing with family and friends.l tried all flavor they had. My picks are crave-o-licious and mint chocolate. Icing is not too sweet and not too much. So perfect for me.
Yesterday I popped in and grabbed 2 dozen cupcakes for probably the 30th+ time at this location. They are always friendly and no matter what time of day I have stopped by, the cupcakes are always fresh and delicious. Decorating is consistent and these cupcakes always look their best too!
The cake at Crave is always light and moist. Their cupcakes are never oily because they use butter in the perfect ratio! Their buttercream and cream cheese icings are the perfect fluffy-ness and sweetness.
My absolute favourite cupcake flavour is Dark Angel. It's a chocolate cake with cream cheese icing, topped with chocolate shavings.
I also appreciate that Crave is a female-founded Calgary business success. It is a pleasure to support in a business that has so much heart and soul.
I’ve been a long time customer of this location but started coming here more frequently the last few months. I’m honestly surprised by all the negative reviews and will just say that I’ve recently visited a few times on a whim and also pre-ordered cupcakes, and all times I’ve have been happy with the product.
The 4-star rating is because while Crave is probably THE original cupcake place in Calgary, it’s not my favourite. I love their red velvet, dark angel, and I enjoy their seasonal cupcakes like the recent Viva Puff cupcake, but I find the icing to cake balance a bit off (a bit too much icing), and so the cupcake is a bit too sweet.
Cupcakes, and most other baking, dry out in Calgary very quickly, unfortuantely. I’ve left Crave ones out overnight in the box (which you’re not supposed to), and while they were a bit crusty, they were still very good. I don’t fault the business for this and blame our climate as I have the same issue with my own baking.
I think this is a good solid choice if you need a dozen mini or regular sized cupcakes. They also do a gender reveal cupcake which I think is actually my favourite - somehow, the icing is much less sweet and overall much tastier. I also enjoy their seasonal carrot cake cupcake and wish that were a permanent item.
I was very disappointed with the quality of the cupcakes I bought on my way home from work today as a special treat for dessert. The frosting was exceptionally firm and the cupcakes were very dry - in fact hard on the top edges. Certainly not what i would expect for a $4.50 cupcake. Im surprised that they were sold to a customer - i should have been advised they were not fresh an would i like other selections that are. Can't say i will be back.
I love Craves and enjoy their cupcakes, but this location was disappointing. I brought the cupcakes home I pre-ordered online, opened the box and the cupcakes were all over the place. The girl at the front was quite rude as well. She needs to learn some customer service skills. There are several other locations in Calgary I’ll go to, I definitely won’t be back to this one.
My family loves cupcakes. However my experience is at craves cupcakes in aspen always falls short of my expectations. The people there are not polite and they ask like they are doing us a favour. Do better.
A Crave cupcake in our home is a well deserved dessert that we look forward to on many occasions. Over the Christmas holidays, I once again decided to indulge and purchased a dozen of the mini’s to have on hand. Unfortunately I was very surprised at the dryness and how hard the cupcake was. Had it not been for the icing it would not have been edible. I threw out one half of them because of the dryness. I went to tell the outlet of my ordeal and the indifference was quite shocking. The staff both stated that the cupcake is made fresh daily, and I believe them, but the experience I had suggested that they might have been left out too long as they were not the moist cupcakes I have always had at Crave. To say we are Crave groupies is an understatement. We still ended up getting six large ones hoping that this was a one of experience.
Great cupcakes and great customer service! I showed up 15 minutes before closing to grab a couple mini cupcakes and they kindly gave me 2 leftover ones for free in addition to the one's I purchased. This was very kind and I'm glad that they did not go to waste.
Meh. Not impressed with the demeanor of the girl working the front counter. The cupcakes are alright, @4 bucks per cupcake I expected ALOT better. A case of Costco mini hazelnut donuts @8 bucks taste better and you get two dozen of em. The parking out front is a nightmare to traverse thru and around, had to park illegally for the pickup. I wouldn't support you guys again. Place deserves two stars, but I'ma give it just one with everything else.
Quite disappointed. We ordered a birthday cake for my mom's birthday. The cake design was nice enough, however the actual cake leaves a lot to be desired. The filling was pretty meager inside, in fact you can't really taste the filling as there's so little of it. The dough itself was super dense, not airy or fluffy - my mom even had trouble cutting into it. At one point we noticed that some of the lower parts of the cake were under baked. We bought the cake Saturday - and it was already crusty on Sunday, even though we kept it in a dry and cool place. I honestly, would not order cake from Crave again, as the entire thing seems underwhelming.
All the complaints about Sandra the manager make her sound legendary (in the worst possible way). Sorta wanted to meet this Sandra, but alas all I received was nice service and delicious cupcakes.
I always wanted to come grab some cupcakes whenever we were in the Aspen Landing area. Luckily, we needed some cupcakes for a birthday so we placed an online order for a dozen mini cupcakes and one Happy Birthday cupcake.
Pick-up was efficient. Instructions were emailed and upon arrival, instructions indicated texting our order number. Within a few minutes, a staff member open the door and gave u our order. This was a nice addition during these covid days.
Biting into a mini cupcake, I found the cake portion was light and fluffy. The buttercream topping was sweet enough to bring on the overall flavor profile. The kids devoured them. No complaints!
Will definitely drop in the next time we are in the area.
I love picking up treats from here to bring to house warmings, get togethers etc; they make a great gift to the host and everyone loves the desserts! The only reason why I'm giving them 4 stars is because I placed a cupcake order ahead of time by emailing in and on the day I went to pick up, the order was misplaced/never put into their system. Fortunately, they had all the ingredients on hand to make my order right then and there AND did not charge me at all. So thank you again Crave, we will be back soon again!
