The only good thing is the location - forget the rest. A big disappointment and way too expensive. Yes, it seems to have an old charm, but to be honest I think it should have been renovated years (decades) ago. Rooms way too small, broken window, bathroom smaller than some toilets.not enough sockets.and again much (!) too expensive! We had much nicer hotels and motels for a third of the price.
You just can’t beat the location! We arrived late at night driving from the airport, woke up early and enjoyed a wonderful *free* buffet breakfast (see photo for view). [bacon, ham, eggs, waffles, toast, muffins, yogurt, tater tots! ] we were able to leave our car in the parking lot until the afternoon - which is so convenient compared to getting to the Lake Louise parking lot by 8am before it fills. It’s a super short walk down to the lake. The rooms are just okay - it’s an old lodge so don’t have high expectations - there are photos online and they are accurate. My only issue was the shower water was cold and then scalding hot! Finally got a medium temperature but very annoying. The front desk workers were very kind and helpful answering questions.
Renting a room with not only a broken window, but also another that doesn’t close properly…. IN NOVEMBER with -12c.who in their right mind would do that? !? !?
This hotel is located next to the Fairmont, a few minutes walk from Lake Louise. We paid $250/night on Thanksgiving weekend, which was steal for the location!
The floors were a bit squeaky, and the lock needed to ne replaced. It took at least a minute of fiddling each time we went back to our room (as if we were trying to break in), which was frustrating.
The cleanliness was adequate, but you could see thick layers of dust behind the cabinets and on the edges of the wall. The balance was so old that the lights were out in the bathroom the whole night because of my use of the hairdryer supplied in the room.
Buffet breakfast was also decent for the price, we liked that the breakfast menu changes daily. Service wise, half of the staff seemed to be diligently working- clearing tables and filling up the buffettable, but the other half would chat loudly continuously by the entrance without making eye contact or greeting the guests.
"Historic" hotel in a fantastic location very close to Lake Louise. A bit of a mess at breakfast but perhaps due to a contingent problem (vah, the cook had been fired?) Overall absolutely to be recommended
This hotel is located a short walk away from lake Louise. Hotel has antique feel. Easily get lost with lots of stairs up and down. No elevators, no tv, and no fridge in the room. The hotel doesn’t have a microwave on site for customers. Breakfast is decent. Some dinning staff are unfriendly and not very helpful. Room has a balcony. The hot tub is on the rooftop which is nice. The price we paid for the room doesn’t justify the experience we had there.
My wife and I were booked to stay at the nearby Fairmont Lake Louise in 2020 but our trip was canceled when the Canadian border closed due to COVID. When we rescheduled the trip this year, we decided to try Deer Lake Lodge. We couldn't have been more pleased with that decision. Besides paying about one-third of the cost of a stay at the Fairmont, we found Deer Lake Lodge to be clean and quiet, within an easy 5-minute walk of Lake Louise. We stayed two nights (9/6 -7) and received a voucher for breakfast both mornings. The buffet selections, both hot and cold, were excellent. There was no TV in our room but we considered that a non-factor in an otherwise excellent stay. Thanks to Deer Lake Lodge for making our trip to Lake Louise a memorable one.
Comfortable rooms, good location within walking distance to the lake and trails. My room was not ready after checkin time at 4: 15pm which was disappointing, since I was tired from a long day of travel. But otherwise good. Hot tub was closed unfortunately.
One location is really good. It takes less than 5 minutes to walk to the lake. Breakfast was also great. Above all, I asked to park first in the morning on the day of check-in, and they gladly checked in.
Everything was good. Except for the fact that the building is old and that the soundproofing is too poor~
Great location and convenient parking lot to access Lake Louise. Rooms are small but you won’t be spending a lot of time in them with so much to do in the area. Breakfast included in the cost of the room.
Location is everything! Minutes walk from Lake Louise makes this an awesome location. Especially considering it's next to impossible to park at Lake Louise unless you get there like super early (I saw it look full at 6am!). Staff was super nice and accommodating. Room was very clean, which is really what matters the most. It was quaint and charming. Some complain it's small but you have to set expectations considering location and price. We could sit on the balcony and see the mountain view. My family loved our stay. Breakfast buffet was standard items but seem good quality. Thick bacon slices, actual individual fried eggs, etc. Most importantly breakfast was convenient. For those intending to visit Moraine Lake, absolutely book the Parks Canada ones in advance as soon as you get the room. They sell out fast and it's a sight you don't want to miss. Other private bus options exist but at significantly more so if you are last minute, that may be your only hope. Don't do the public bus Roam option, that absolutely requires you take the first 8x bus from Banff. While I read elsewhere they may let you on if you are staying at Deer Lodge, it's not guaranteed.
A very beautiful and special building, very close to Lake Louise, a 5-minute walk away, the room was very comfortable and spacious.very clean We had a great time.
The location is perfect, just a hop skip away from the Chateau and Lake Louise. Manager was very generous and accommodating to change rooms for my situation having a relative with me who had accessibility issues. I was unaware this hotel had no elevators. Also it’s a hotel made to enjoy the outdoors, so it makes you feel the history and outdoors while staying there.
They call it a heritage hotel but doesn’t look like it. The rooms are super cramped and the restaurant is okay. We were extremely suffocated inside the rooms as there was no ventilation/air conditioning. Additionally, the staff are not friendly or helpful. Location is great (just near lake Louise and can easily board the shuttle to lake Moraine) but if you’re looking for a comfortable stay then this is not your place.
Small and old rooms. Sometimes it feels stale. It was ok for one night, I wouldn't stay longer.staff was very friendly. Location to Lake Louise very ideal.
Book somewhere else. Old room. Tricky management and rude by a supervisor at front desk. He is so arrogant and rude and asked me if I cannot afford to stay at Chareau nearby, I am supposed to accept the room he provided which is not as I had gotten. No service mind and the most rude hotel staff I have ever found.
Very old rooms, expensive with all the fees added. Breakfast is very good, 5 minutes walk to lake Louise. If you drive an EV you can only trickle charge, so make sure you have enough charge and couple of hours to go to the village for tesla free destination chargers at 50 Amps to get to closest supercharger
Great place to stay by the Lake at a decent price, we found the employees to be helpful and friendly from front desk to wait staff they all went above and beyond which is unusual these days in the customer service industry. Would recommend!
Location is fantastic with it only being a 5 minute walk to Lake Louise. Rooms are a bit on the dated side but more than satisfactory. Our room was on the 3rd floor had a balcony with a view of the mountains. There is no elevator so you do have to haul luggage up steps. There is a road that runs right next to the hotel but the creek running along the road drowns out the car noise well. One of the best things about the resort was the outdoor hot tub with a great view of the mountains. Breakfast buffet that came with the room was average. An added plus- If your looking to visit Moraine Lake, you can catch the shuttle that leaves from Lake Louise and not have to worry about parking.
***ONLY REVIEWING RESTAURANT*** Food was well worth the price! We got the ratatouille, tenderloin, burger and mushroom pasta. Excellent food and creative menu with multiple vegetarian options for such a small menu!
I am so incredibly disappointed in the customer service found at this hotel. My husband and I were staying there for my best friend's wedding, and well I will never stay here again. The beds weren't very comfy, but the biggest issue was the fact that our roof started pouring water at 5: 30am the morning after the wedding. Instead of apologizing and offering a discount or something the staff did nothing. Small rooms, no tv in the room, no fridge in the room, tiny tiny rooms. So we were forced to leave at 6am for home, missing the breakfast we paid for and not actually getting to finish our stay. So incredibly disappointed. This was not worth almost $350/night. We will never be back, ever.
This is strictly for the restaurant. The risotto was good but the burger is literally a frozen grocery store 50 cent patty for $24. Straight out of a high-school cafeteria.
