Dental Care For Children - Southport

Just wanted to give a big shout-out to the awesome dental hygienist Heidi who took care of my 4-year-old daughter yesterday. They did a great job with the cleaning and x-rays, and they explained everything in a way that made my little one feel super comfy.

Their patience and kindness made a huge difference, and we're really thankful for that extra effort. If you've got kids, this place is a winner. Seriously, check it out!

Yesterday we went there for my son treatment, was amazing, the Dr Wong so patient and he did great job, the lady was in the clinc who helped us with Dr, she is awesome, all the staff there are super nice and friendly

My boys have been going to Dental Care For Children for 5 years now and they absolutely loved them. They ask monthly when their next appointment is. The staff are not only great dentist, dental hygienist and receptionist, they are also knowledgable and skilled with children. The boys feel confident and comfortable there which is a big plus for this helicopter mom.

Kids were sad not to see the bear on the roof today but it is still a nice office we always look for the bear when we drive down the road hope it will be back soon

Son needed a filling, but he didn't feel a thing! Very skilled staff with a beautiful office. Thank you. We will return in 6 months for a follow up.

Me & my daughter came to Calgary to the Surgical Care For Children, and it being a first for me and my daughter who is only 3.had the worst experience with a nurse by the name of MARY. We are indigenous & We travelled 3hours to make this appointment and the mistreatment my daughter received by this nurse was sad.with other children who were NOT children of colour, she spoke very nice and was patient.when it came to my daughter it took her awhile to wake from the anesthesia & I wanted to stay a little longer in case of any allergic reactions, but Mary was rude and tried rushing us out. When I told her I didn't appreciate her attitude she "apologized" but continued to be rude and made comments about us to other staff each time she walked past us.when I told her id complain about her she told me " Please do my name is Mary". Its disgusting that we were treated the way we did, and we didn't deserve this. All the while she was doing this my daughter did happen to have an allergic reaction and her lip was swelling.what if we left and this happened? What would I have done? Honestly it still bugs me we were treated this way.and I hope she doesn't treat anyone else in such a way. Ive tried calling to speak to someone of this matter but have had no luck. WORST PLACE AND WILL NEVER GO BACK.

My 5 year old daughter was brought in by my Mother for a cleaning. The dentist would not allow my Mother to go back with her. They decided she needed a root canal at 5 years old on one of her baby teeth and the dentist and assistant held her down while she screamed in pain. I went back and had a meeting with the dentist and I was assured my daughter was not crying or complaining about pain. The assistant however spoke with Me after and explained that the Dentist believed she was given enough pain meds for her age and did not agree with the treatment given. And she was in fact held down while screaming and crying. She was hyperventilating by the time she made it to the waiting room where my Mom was.

Unfortunately my Mom signed their forms that state if a child moves too much or flails their arms they will be held down in order to provide the treatment, or else I would have pursued this matter legally. I would not recommend this location to anyone- ever. Please If you are considering treatment here do your research on do not trust they will take the best care of your child.

Read all boxes very clearly, and beware. Do not leave your children alone or allow them to go alone with any dentist. The other dentists that were around seeing what was happening idly stood by while a 5 year old was held done to an invasive procedure on a baby molar.

Find another dentist. It is in your child’s best interest.

I want as many parents as possible to read this - after taking my son in for sedation dentistry (costing upwards of $6000) feeling good about the experience I then took my daughter for a check. They claimed she had 11 cavities and recommended sedation. I decided to get a second opinion. I got 2 other opinions in fact. My daughter has 2 cavities. The other dentist informed me that Dental care for children is notorious for over treatment and extreme over billing. They cut into healthy teeth to line their greedy pockets. They prey on stressed parents. To add insult to injury today they called with a final bill for my son’s treatment; I was originally told it would be approx $1100…. Its an additional $2600. This is robbery. Please please get a second opinion before trusting this clinic.

We have been going to Dental Care for Children now for 7 years.

I have put 4 stars because I do feel as though the pricing is quite high. It has been very hard financially to pay for my 9 y/o daughters dental work - BUT this being said, we do pay the high prices because of the type of care we have received here.

Firstly, reception is wonderful. I have had many questions in the past in regards to process of care, billing, insurance, etc. They have always been kind & taken the time to explain, no matter how busy they are. I also find it refreshing that they ask my daughters permission before taking her temp. Or taking her to the examination room.

I have met the dentist that works with my daughter once; but i do believe he is very good with his clients. My daughter has never complained about her appointments here & has always said she has felt safe & taken care of. Thank you for going above & beyond. I do wish pricing was a little different, but the cost does match the type of care you are receiving here for sure!

We have been going to DCFC for a few years for our son with severe autism. Trips to the dentist are tough and an integral part of his therapy. They have been incredibly patient and helpful and been along side us in his development. At each appointment he is able to do more and more. Can't say enough good things.

I was browsing for another kid themed dental clinic, and saw this place again.
First, let me say that I am happy with the NE branch.
My daughter had her visit there for about 3times or four?
Anyway, Her teeth cleaning experienced and her surgery with Dr Cymbalisty was a good experienced for her. Although the surgery was actually very traumatic for her but she was able to overcome the fear. She still went there for her cleaning…

We have 100% coverage from our insurance but we still end up paying every visit! So this means they do overcharge!

I moved my children to our family dentist so I don’t have to deal paying extra everytime we visit with the same service. As expected there were no extra cost but the Dental Care for Children’s we end up always paying more from out the pocket!

This is a great dental office! The staff is so friendly and so great with kids. They had my son in and out so quickly and made it fun for him. A very clean and nice place!

Been taking my daughter here for years, great team love how they have the office set up very kid friendly. If you haven’t been I Highly recommend it.

I’ve been going here for years and I’ve had nothing but the best experience. With every appointment the office is full of friendly faces and smiles, most notably Lynne. She’s always great help with anything i need!

The team at Dental Care for Children are great, Dr. Sahar takes the time to make sure the parents know exactly what the treatment plans entail. Her assistant, Irene is also great! She is comforting and understanding to each kids needs. Highly suggest!

This was the first time we have been to this office and we were very happy with how everything went. The doctor explained eveything to us and gave us some good advise about trying to brush and floss my son's teeth. Thanks everyone!

Clean and very appealing aesthetically. Very kid friendly and well equipped. Staff members were pleasant, friendly, and efficient. There was no unnecessary waiting.

Love this office! The staff here are wonderful and took the time to make sure my kids were treated with care and compassion. Dr. Sahar was great with the kids and her assistant, Irene, was very understanding and patient with my daughter who has anxiety issues. Definitely give this place a 5/5!

I highly recommend Dental Care for Children! The staff are extremely knowledgeable and always ensure our children have a comfortable and fun experience. The office is a bright and inviting space for our kids and they absolutely love the “Light Brite wall”!

Save yourself a time and find someone else. Have three children in clinic. Very unhappy with hygienist constantly cracking kids braces glue even when informed before appointment. So every single time after dentist we have to book orthodontist appointment to fix braces glue.

Also, bookings are almost impossible to made. They are either booked or they cannot book that far in advance.

Lastly, very often my children have gum bleeding after appt and they have no gum / dental issues.

Dr Saher is amazing! Our whole family loves her- friendly, welcoming, great with our kids and best of all, we trust her advice.

My experience with Dental Care for Children has always been exceptional. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist who goes that extra mile.

Dental care for children is such a nice office for kids, all staff are extremely knowledgeable with anything regarding my child. I LOVE it here!

Honestly, it felt strange being out in public after being in quarantine for so many weeks but all the extra steps they took today at Dr. Saher's office really helped with that transition.

Thank you for providing masks for all of us, it made me feel safer being at my kids appointments today.

Great place. Friendly staff. Always professional and reliable. My daughter goes there and she has never had any issues.

The dentist that treated our son for his first dental experience was rude harsh, not kind and pinned him down. The expectation for a child visiting the dentist for the first time at a facility that caters to children is to ease them into the experience. None of that happened it was appalling. I don't ever give reviews that are made public but to go through this experience after carefully trying to find a dentist for children was shocking and I need to share it. This business should not be marketing to parents looking for a dentist for their first time appointment with their child. It's false advertising. We will never go back nor recommend it.

After my kids have been patients of Dr. Cymbaliski for almost 8 years I am upset at how the booking lady treated me. I understand that they require 48 hours notice but we booked a last minute trip out of the country and I gave them 44 hours notice instead of 48. I was told they would charge my credit card to hold a new appointment when we came back from our vacation.
Excuse me? I don’t think so.
So sorry for not giving 48 hours notice but I wasn’t about to stay in snowy Calgary just because my kids have a check up.
Then the day before their original appointments that I cancelled, I get a text saying my daughter has a dentist appointment at 6: 20AM! And if I want to cancel it they require 48 hours notice. Um. I didn’t book a 6: 20 dental appointment for a 6 year old!
Hygienists and Dr C are great though. 5 stars for them.

Worst dentist I have ever seen. Extremely rude and condescending staff, very unprofessional facility and zero patient privacy, place is basically a child's barber shop. No idea who thought it was a great idea to have 6 scared children next to each other screaming.this place is ridiculous. Our appointment was for 11.we waited an hour for nothing, x rays took 5 minutes so why were we waiting around an hour for the doctor, while having to listen to the chaos of other children screaming and crying, scaring my children. We ended up leaving with no solutions. Do not go here unless you want to scare your children and waste your time and money.

I will start by saying, my child loves going to this dentist. He has been seeing Dr. Cymbalisty since 2016. However, about a year and a half ago, due to unforeseen vehicle issues, I had to reschedule my son’s regularly scheduled check up appointment. I called 22 hours before his appointment, in hopes to reschedule. I was told that by cancelling the appointment, if anything were to happen to his spacer that they may not cover the cost and that I would also be charged a cancellation fee. I explained the situation again and that I was just looking to reschedule the appointment in a couple of days, to which I was told maybe I could take the bus, train or a taxi, which were not options for my son and I, as we live outside of Calgary. After more discussion, they finally reschedule my son’s appointment. I was really disappointed in the service and lack of understanding, but because my son was comfortable going there, we continued. But this past December, my son had another appointment booked for a check up, he ended up having his spacer temporarily removed as it was irritating his mouth. They office scheduled him back in the following week to have it put back in. When we got there, the spacer was damaged and had to be sent to the lab to be fixed. So they scheduled another appointment a few days later, which we drove back in to find out that they hadn’t got the spacer back from the lab. I was a bit frustrated for the inconvenience, as they could have called to say they still didn’t have it back. When booking the next appointment, I was made to feel as though I was the cause of inconvenience. The third time was a charm, the spacer was in the office and my son left with his spacer. I was not happy with the lack of customer service, understanding and communication, and frustrated by the inconveniences of those couple situations, I have chosen to move my son to another pediatric dentist (closer to home).

My daughter had an awesome experience with Dr. Cymbalisty. She and her team of people are extremely professional and skilled to deal with children. The dentist, hygientists, assistants and front desk staff were all very friendly and efficient with our time.

The office was easy to find and I liked that the patient intake form was emailed to me so I could complete it before hand. The dental hygienist and dentist were both great. Very calm and patient with my nervous 3 year old.
My only complaint would be that they don't direct bill, and that they charge $20-$30 over the 2019 Alberta General Practitioner Dental Association fee guide. Since going to the dentist seems to make my daughter really nervous I think for now it's worth the extra money to take her somewhere that caters to children.

5 stars coming from someone afraid of the dentist office! These people made me and my kid feel welcome and safe. The receptionists are kind and thoughtful.

Everyone explained things well to me, I felt very informed to make decisions on my child's dental work.

Worst experience ever, prices are way higher than what Alberta Dentist regulates, poor and rude receptionist, total rip off.doctor come for few seconds and technicians finish most the work.try to go some where else.

My children have autism and it makes it really difficult for dentist appts. I was by myself with both kids but because of some difficulties the dentist at the beginning said he didn't want to work on either of them, said it would traumatize them too much and was still charged 300 for both. They are suppose to be a dentistry specializing in children, all kinds of children. They did nothing and still charged 300, I found a new dentist.

Do not go to this place if this is your kid's first dentist experience or if they are afraid of the dentist even a bit! They have no patience with the kids and they want to charge you even if they didn't do anything on a child that they couldn't do much on.
My 4 year old vomited (apparently he made himself do so - because we all love to vomit), the dentist didn't do anything on him and we still had to pay.
Then when they called to confirm the next appointment I mentioned we won't be coming back and they didn't even care to ask what the problem was.
So even though they have really nice facilities it is not worth it. The giant teddy bear won't make a difference once your kid is sitting in the dentist chair. Look for a better place for your kid and your money!

Terrible instructions on how to find this place. I wandered around inside the building for 15 minutes trying to find it. They need to give better instructions on how to get here and obviously that you can't get to it from inside the building. FRUSTRATED! Not to mention the front end staff are very unhelpful and just want your money. Terrible experience all around. I'll be looking for a better dentist for my children!

I took my kids there in November and there was a referral done so I went and don’t let them fool you by there quote dental care for kids because my kids are not happy to go back when I was dealing with the payment the lady actually told my kids in a rude way to go play, even though we waited an hour for her to get the treatment plan ready. Now my kids are not wanting to go back
Then a week later I got a letter from my insurance saying that they billed me for a complete dental exam that they only cover ever 3 years, now I. Stuck to pay 600 dollars. But I called them they don’t care that’s why they do the direct billing so the patients are stuck paying no matter what even though they didn’t advise me of this they just bill as they please
Worst experience with them. We’ve seen dr. Smith in the past and never had this problems he was very good with walking us through each step but not dr. Cymplsty and her helper so rude.
