The lazy and ignorant tailor who doesn’t want to help customers and doesn't know how clothes should fit, so when you ask to make your pants 1 size smaller — they make it 2 size bigger.

Don't forget to call my employer, so he can threaten to fire me.

After being told not to use 5 Star Rentals, I had used them before and they were ok.
This experience started off good. I got measured up and gave all my part information some were from the UK, so I was given the email to send all the information too.
3 days later I sent all the information for measurements. I waited a week and called in after 5 attempts I was able to speak to someone. They "hadn't" received the email. I gave them the exact date and time they had received, just not done anything with it.
One of the measurements wasn't clear so I got them that the next day and emailed to both emails provided.

The week of the wedding I called by to see if everything was ok, when I arrived there was no customers and a worker behind the main counter on the phone, 5 employees including the rental manager were at the other counter all talking and having a laugh, I was stood approx 5-8 minutes and not a single person asked if I needed assistance, being a business owner myself I would of been disgusted and appalled if I heard my manager or any of my staff did not address the most important thing to us the customers. Then I found they hadn't uploaded any of the measurements I sent.

Now we go to the final fitting, some of the measurements were so out to lunch and these are the ones that were measured in house, it wasn't even funny how far off they were.

Me and one of the employees who I wish I remembered her name as she was awesome all the way through, made sure there were 2 pocket squares for my suit (the groom) as I had my own ties. Day of wedding none. I had to cut one of my $79 ties to make a pocket square.

I called on Sunday and got the one girl who was good and unfortunately had to tell her all the issues above. I am still waiting from a call back from the manager/store owner someone to take responsibility for the absolutely horrible experience and very costly experience over 1600$ on suits plus a $79 tie I had to cut. I would recommend anyone to stay away and use another vendor or buy from TipTop for less of the cost than rental.

I don't normally leave bad reviews but this one really needed to be posted as this is normally one of the most important events of a couples lives.

Would not recommend to anyone. First they failed to save all of information for the bridal party. Then they assured everything thing would be fixed, then they ordered the wrong size. We asked for a refund and we only recieved half. Pathetic period.

The suits were fine. They are quite disorganized though.

Went in to get suited up for my wedding. They were good with trying on all combinations of suits and ties and bowties and jackets and all that.

Problems started up when I asked them to set up a copy of the selected items in their calgary location for someone living in Calgary. They were unsuccessful. When my man in Calgary went in, they had no information. That person called the sherwood park location to sort it out, but it took forever. Ultimately they got the correct items.

Two weeks before pickup date I called to change to the colour on the bowties. They were successful in the SP location, and despite a reminder from me to make sure it made it to Calgary, they did not send the changes to Calgary.

I forgot to pick up on the agreed upon day. No phone call from them. Not a good sign. Went in next day, and they did not have the items ready. I stood around for 15-20 minutes while I imagine they dashed everything into the bag for me. Tried it on and made adjustments. That lady was superb in getting me dressed and ready.

Watch out for their late fees. It's a scam. They let you take your suit 4 days early, no problem. But they suddenly need it back the day after your event. And 20 dollars a day. This is how they make their money off you. They don't need it rushed back, they have a warehouse.

Overall, a mediocre experience. Other reviews have talked about missing items and forgotten orders, and I believe them.

The good: of all the suit rental companies we looked at, Mr. Derk had the best selection of suits, and the best prices. Using them, we had a better choice in colors to match our wedding colours than any other rental location we explored. And in the end, the groomsmen were outfitted as desired, though it wasn’t without some bumps along the way.

The bad: communication between stores was horrible. We initially were helped and placed our order at the Whyte Avenue location; one groomsmen went to the west end location where they fitted him with the wrong colour shoes and suit; the rest of the groomsmen went to the Sherwood Park location where we were told they couldn’t help us without an prior appointment (despite being told by the Whyte Avenue location to drop-by for fittings). On the day of the final fittings, one of the groomsmen had a wildly misfitted suit (he looked like a clown with pants double the waist size and suspenders holding them up). Fortunately, with the final fitting being at the Sherwood Park location - where the warehouse is - they were able to quickly remedy the situation.

Our advice: Go with Mr. Derk, but only go to the Sherwoork Park location. Being the warehouse, they can resolve issues faster, and there seems to be much miscommunication between stores. Book an appointment for anything and everything as they may not be able to help you if you just show up. And book a final fitting earlier enough that they can make necessary changes as it is very possible something didn’t end up being communicated correctly during the process.

Awful experience. Went in the store to get a suit and was not helped because the associates were understaffed. I waited for an hour.
Most rentals were too pricey for their quality. When I finally tried the rental garments the shirt was stained and the pants were ripped. Do not rent from this place!

I am writing this review on behalf of my son the groom. Their experience at Derks was far from acceptable and will warn others to maybe reconsider using Derks. Their suits did not fit properly and were of poor quality, to the point where one grooms did not want to bend over for fear of spitting his pants. One of the groomsman's shoes was damaged, another's shirt was a different color, white versus ivory. These are things a formal rental outlet such as Derks should not let happen and you expect more from them. May I remind them these are suits that are bring rented for events that are pictured for a lifetime.

Bought a suit for a wedding, off the shelf 3 months prior to the wedding.

After 4 trips to have my suit tailored, and the tailoring staff not cooperating with the requested alteration, causing unnecessary trips (i.e. Taking in the suit jacket, tailoring the pants too tight). I though we finally had it after I tried on the suit to go to the destination wedding. The staff checked it out and I was on my way.

On arrival at the wedding I found that some of the alterations were still pinned - they were never done!

I reached out to the staff at Derks, to request a refund for the alterations and they said I would receive a full refund for the alterations by mail in a few weeks.a month later, and still no refund? I reached out again and this time contacted and told I would get a full refund via e-transfer. Then a e transfter came in. However Derks said that they had performed some alterations to the suit and would not return the full amount.

In short, Derks sold me a unaltered suit when they had 3 months to complete everything.

I wont be returning to this store, and I recommend you don't either.

Overall I had a pretty good experience renting suits for my wedding from Derks. Service seemed to vary from one visit to the next, a couple times I was completely ignored and others I had full attention. The suits themselves looked great and I was very happy with how everyone looked. I would definitely rent from Derks again.

Worst service ever. Every time I go in there or call everyone is confused, my shirts are lost, the orders are wrong and when I called in and talked to the manager she wasn't hearing anything I said. I had to keep repeating myself and then she hung up on me. Hung up! I'm sorry but if I'm spending over $1000 at a store and you guys have lost my order and the wedding is 5 weeks away I think I deserve someone to be working on this not just putting me off continuously! Never again will I use Derks.

Had a few ideas about what we wanted for wedding suits and Dan was able to take those and make them a reality. He put a lot of thought into the wedding party look and we were very very pleased with how everything turned out. We really appreciate all his help and would highly recommend going in to see him!

I chose Derks for wedding suits because of a previous good experience, but I can not recommend them after what happened with my wedding.

Every single one of our suits was incorrect in some way. After being measured and my suit ordered in, I was told the sizes ordered were incorrect, well the associate actually said "what in God's name were they thinking" because the sizes were so off. Luckily because I purchased my suit it was able to be tailored and fixed. My groomsmen rented their suits and even after being measured (by different associates) theirs were all incorrect as well. Derks was able to fix 3/5 of them, but my best man was wearing pants that were much too large for him, cinched at the waist, and much too short for him, all because someone forgot to order the correct size for him. My groomsmen actually questioned why we were measured in the first place as each and every one of us had multiple things not fitting correctly.

I could go on and on about how people were picking threads off me left by the tailor right before I walked down the aisle, and everything else that was wrong (they didn't give me shoes, etc.), but I won't, I will just simply state that I will not be shopping at Derks again, and I would not recommend them to anyone I like.

We went in and tried, and picked out a jacket for the groom and vests for the groom's men just me and the groom. We were told they would have it in my husband's size in the jacket, and the vests we're all one colour.

When the groom's party went to go get fitted and order everything they were informed the jacket "doesn't come in his size and they would not order it in" also the vests now have a contrast colour on the back.

Needless to say no order was placed.

We returned only based on the manager. Lola I believe her name was made every we wanted to happen happen. She was one of the few staff members who I enjoyed.

Very low class! Rented my son a suit for his grad, when returning i didnt have the derks bag that the plastic ones go in, SO THEY CHARGED ME $15! For a $1 bag! Times must be tough.this place is also very run down and scummy i feel like im in a value village.dont go here unless you need a bargain on some cheap made clothes, because there is no class here.

I am amazed with the level of professionalism with Derks! Within an hour we had all of the groomsmen suits and the grooms suit picked out and tried on. Very happy!

The knowledgeable and helpful staff left me feeling well-informed. I did not feel pressured to buy anything, and they encouraged me to shop around elsewhere before committing to anything. Everything there is in great taste and at reasonable price points. Perfect place when you are looking for your first suit.

I have rented from Derks 3 or 4 times in my life. Each time has been an easygoing experience. My last experience is what prompted me to write this review. I needed a suit for a Saturday wedding but I was out of town until the Friday before the wedding. I called Derks and explained my predicament. The lady on the phone calmly said "no problem" I was stunned that they could get me a suit on such short notice. I set an appointment for the Friday before the wedding at 11 am and within an hour I was walking back to my car with the suit in its carrying bag. This establishment is a true gem as they have tailors on site to make adjustments to the suits as needed. I do not see myself ever renting a suit from anywhere else.

Just the worst suit and clothing service available. Don't get why anyone wastes their time here when there are cheaper and better options.

Upon entering, a weirdly dressed guy with a wild ponytail and extremely nasally voice sold me on the "quality" (which he couldn't explain) of their hideously overpriced suits that fit comically bad

Showed up on Sunday, fifteen minutes after it opened. There were about 6 people in front of me, but I didn't have an appointment, so first come first serve. There were only two staff in the rental area due to the bridal Show, and they were flat out helping people, very efficient and friendly (seeing their interactions with other customers). Had a bit of a wait, but again that's on me. A very nice gentleman named Mohammed (hopefully this is the proper spelling of his name) came from the retail section to help out. He was very knowledgable, extremely courteous a and friendly, and had me in and out in a very short time. The other two in the back were actually almost to me when he came back to help out. Very reasonable price for a jacket and pants, friendly staff, seem very knowledgable and helpful, and very hard working.

The experience with Derks for our Wedding Day was disappointing. The men had issues from missing pants, short sleeves on jackets, and dirty dress shirts, and wrinkles on the jackets. Someone had to drop off new stuff AFTER the guys had gotten to our wedding location. Considering rentals were $200+ a person, all they offered was a $100 store credit which we will never use. This also wasn't typical wedding season that can be sometimes a busy and chaotic time for wedding vendors, it was in March.

Great experience shopping for a Tuxedo for my Daughters wedding and the employees were very patient and helpful with us as we were a group of 6. I would highly recommend Derks for Local or Destination weddings like the one we are having as they are a long time established business that gives back to the community as well.

I rented a tux here for my recent wedding. We did a walk in on a busy Saturday afternoon, intending to look.
But they were able to help us, and guide us to making a great choice. With my pudgy body that is saying something. Everything was measured, sized and taken care of. All I had to do was pick it up on the big day. Fit was perfect and I actually looked good.
Returning the suit was quick easy and painless.
The service was great, professional and gave great advice. The only place to rent a suit for those special occasions.
