I really debated writing this review, because the owner and his wife are very nice people who are doing their best, but my experience with them was so disappointing and I don't want anyone else to go through the same thing unawares.
I brought my car in in 2022. To be fair, it was a hard time because post-pandemic everyone was having supply chain issues. I was told it could take several months to receive the parts my car needed (clutch replacement and transmission rebuild). It was a big job, so I understood that it might take some time and I was ready to be patient.
The issues started when I would verbally confirm details with Boris or his wife, Sandra (the receptionist), and then nothing would come of it. I would be told that I would hear back from them in 2 weeks about when they could get the parts and an estimate. I never received an update. When I called to find out, I had to play phone tag with them for several days before I could get any information. Sandra didn't know any details and would tell me that Boris would call me back. He never did. So I would call again and wait to hear.
They were eventually able to order some parts for my vehicle, but others were still question marks. Again, every time I called I would receive promises about timeline and details being updated, but I would never hear anything back for weeks. Then I would have to start the phone tag again to try to get an update. It took over 3 months and many, many phone calls for them to send me an estimate.
At one point during this long process, I was once again calling to ask for something they had promised me several weeks before (I'm not sure if it was the estimate or an update on parts, or perhaps whether the work could begin soon). I reminded them that they had given me a deadline of when they would contact me and had not followed through, and the response I received was, "well, I lied. "
At this point, I was seriously considering going elsewhere, but I didn't want to have to wait again for another company to order the parts and take another 3 months for them to arrive. So I stuck it out.
Later on I was told that the parts were arriving soon and work would begin, but I was uncertain about trusting that. There was one part that hadn't arrived yet, so they were still waiting for that part. Finally, I decided to just head over and talk to them in person (not the first time I had to do that). When I arrived, I was told that the work was done and my car was nearly ready to go! I asked about the part they said hadn't arrived yet, and they said there was no such part and they had everything they needed. I was particularly concerned when at the end of everything, Boris said "I really hope that the clutch was the problem here, because I just had this thought that maybe that wasn't the real issue. "
So, I drove away with a fixed vehicle that continues to run fine (albeit, with much more stick shift "stickiness" in certain gears than it ever had before). The price I paid was under what Boris originally quoted me, and he did put in extra effort to smooth out the flywheel so we didn't have to replace the original. But ultimately, I'm not sure it was worth it. The amount of stress and constant back and forth I had to do to get information was so frustrating. I found the mixed information and lack of follow-up to be very unprofessional. Nearly every time I called (and believe me, I called MANY times), Sandra would ask for my phone number to take down. This made me feel like I was unimportant to them as a customer.
I think Boris and Sandra are trying to run a very relaxed, family business, and maybe that works for some people who don't mind these kinds of hiccups. But for me, it was a nightmare that lasted for over 4 months.

Had my truck towed in, got a quick response from the owner. He gave a thorough explanation of work being done, all in all a great experience. It’s been about a 2 months since being to the shop and my truck runs better than before.

Don't bother with this business. All I was looking for was a quote and some information before bringing my vehicle in for some transmission work. However, after multiple calls with reassurance of a call back, and even an email, I still have not been replied to. It is clear to me that this business has no interest in even providing the most basic of decencies towards customers. Don't waste your time and don't have any expectations, because they will be sure to disappoint and let you down.

Had an ongoing transmission problem of hard shifting, talked to Boris about it he said to bring it over and we would go for a test drive, Of course it ran perfectly while trying to replicate the shifting so Boris said run it till it started to act up about 2weeks later it started to act up and backing into the garage it was making weird noise and the check engine lite came on

So the next day took it back to Boris but the check engine light had gone out went for a rest drive the there was one hard shift and it ran perfectly so it was decided to put the scanner on it to see if there were any codes there were 2 codes relating to the throttle positioning sensor/transmission
They recommended to replace the sensor he said I could replace it myself as I have a mechanical back ground so twenty minutes and $100.00 dollars later the truck was running perfectly
We have delt with Dots transmission over the years l have found them to be able to explain things in layman’s terms, they do not try to up sell, they do great work at fair prices and they back their

I went to 2 other places being told i had a leak they couldnt help with, came here and was told there was no leak! The staff was very kind, respectful and i 100% recommend this place.

Dot Transmission are truly the BEST! Boris is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and most importantly honest. We took our 2009 Toyota highlighter for a check up (our mechanic of 20 years said there is noise that is most likely a transmission issue and recommended Boris), I was told by our mechanic to expect an expensive fix. Boris checked the car and concluded there was nothing wrong (it turns out the noise was coming from the wheels). Long story short, there was no bill and no fixing needed (he could’ve charged us anything, we know nothing about cars). Thank you Boris, I hope I never have transmission problems, but if I do I’ll come to you! Thanks again, honesty is a virtue…

I give 5 star for quality workmanship and honesty about work needed. But only 4 stars for communication, id phone for updates and Borris was hard to get hold of, I understand he's very busy and not available. However I never got a call back.and any information I did receive was vague and not much help.

Right from my initial phone call I was pleased with this company. I could tell they cared about my issue. Everything fixed and I am so happy. I absolutely recommend this company. Thanks for all your help!

First time customer, will now be a returning customer. Excellent business to deal with. It will be a shame when Boris retires. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience.

I took my vehicle to Dot Transmission because they specialize in transmission work and because they have great reviews. They said it was gonna cost about $1000 to work on it and it might not even fix the problem but they will go from there. I refused because I wasn't going to pay for something that "might not fix the problem. " When my brother picked up the key they charged him $120 just for looking at the car. For $120 they could've at least put the oil back that they drained out.
