The Park is Amazing, with BBQ, Picnic and Camping areas, you can enjoy a variety of activities there. Must visit to the Christmas Tree Trial. Stunning view and you find peaceful by walking there!
Parking is a hassle. A Very narrow road leads to the park. Toilet is badly maintained, stinks to the high heavens and not fit for public usage. The park should be shut down till when d roads are expanded, enough parking is sorted and more toilets are erected, even if they are mobile toilets! And they should be cleaned properly and frequently!
What a lovely little escape in the middle of the city! So nice with all of the nice pathways and the river. Lots of picnic tables and even a place to rent for bigger parties. Also a huge bonus is the amount of washrooms.
Did a lot of hanging out here growing up. Used to have fires every weekend and enjoy a BBQ at the picnic areas. Hang out under the bridge enjoy a bit of fun in the sun. Angels is an alright spot for some grub during the day. You can also access the Douglas fur trail here.
Perfect place for an urban trail run with your dog. You can piece together a satisfying back-and-forth half marathon if you are creative with the trails.
The dog park is about 1km end-to-end and perfect for big dogs that like to run and play - despite the recent news story the dog owners are generally really chill.
Also great to hang out with kids by the river/bridge/picnic area and the river is easily accessed.
What a beautiful beautiful park. It’s my favourite place in Calgary. Lots and lots of picnic benches with space to bbq. A lovely walking trail and a great place to sit by the river and watch the world go by for hours on end. Highly recommend
This is a great dog park! Very large with open areas as well as shaded paths in the trees. In the winter people hang xmas ornaments from the trees allover the paths, it's magical! My daughter loves it. Keep in mind though when it has rained or in spring the paths get VERY muddy.
Edworthy Park is built on the former site of a sandstone quarry. The land was purchased by the City of Calgary in 1962 for the development of the park.
Prior to the mid-1990s, the City of Calgary intended to eventually replace Edworthy Park with an extension of the Shaganappi Trail freeway. The extension would have linked Shaganappi Trail, Sarcee Trail, and Bow Trail at a major interchange that would take up most of the southwest part of Edworthy Park. During development of the Calgary Transportation Plan (also known as "The Go Plan") in 1995, public opposition to the roadway led to it being removed from future consideration.
It was nice, based on the Canadian government map this is a safe place to fly my micro drone. That's why I went. Lots of dogs off leash. After all its an off leash dog park. So be careful for landlines, left by our 4 legged friends.
Great park offering everything from trails in the woods, paved trails, along the water, children's areas, picnic areas with fire pits. Walking along the south side you can go almost 6km! A great gem in the middle of the city. Highly recommended to check out as all the locals know how great it is.
Beautiful family friendly park! Perfect for walking, bike riding, dog walking, fishing, and picnics. Head out there to enjoy the peace and quiet, fresh air, and gorgeous scenery. It's a haven within the city!
I love this park. There's just so much to do from going on long walks, hiking at Douglas Fir Trail, going for picnics by the lake or grass, bike ride, picture taking, etc. It can get very busy on weekends during the day. There's even an ice cream shop nearby. It's a park that's got everything!
I love this park. For me, the best parts is the great walking trails through the treed valley. You feel as though you've left the city behind when you're on the trails. The trails and BBQ sites are well maintained and kept tidy. This park is a wonderful asset to the city.
A place to walk, to run and even work. Douglas fir trail is great for a day hike or run when you don't gave time to get to the mountains. We are so lucky to have this in inner city Calgary. Things to do if you are out of town: 1) walk the Douglas Fir trail and CEE some awesome city views 2) Stop for lunch or ice cream at Angel's cafe 3) walk the river path 4) have a picnic in the park 5) relax on the rocky beach (across from Angel's cafe) 6) find all the rocks with wise quotes on the beach (super fun) 7) make a stop at the fitness playground.
One of the best parks in the city! Make sure to make a detour over to the Douglasfir trail and hike up the stairs to the lookout that will give you amazing views of the city.
On a hot day be sure to bring a lawn chair and a towel so you can frolic in the river.
This is a great park, lots of little shops to visit, so many trails, and lakes on the way. I would recommend during spring or mid summer as that's when most of the wild life are out and is truly a great place to be in the evening.
Lovely large park by the bow river. New playground facilities. Ample parking. Great views. Only annoying thing is some speeding cyclists. But they are to blame
Parking available for biking to downtown and outdoor fitness equipment on the North side. Bridge to South side with picnic areas, access to river and a couple playgrounds. Great area and come here often.
Beautiful Park by the Bow, where all ages can explore and get your daily steps in. There are also multiple playgrounds for the lil peeps to burn some calories.
Excellent place to spend outdoors right in the middle of the city. Family friendly, nice picnic areas, playgrounds and working paths. I liked the ability to reserve a picnic area for a private party. Plenty of parking even on a sunny weekend.
I've grew up close to this park, so I am a bit biased. It's a great place to go for a walk or start a trip down the Bow River (remember to wear your PFD's! I'm glad that the café (Angel's) on the North side of the park has had an update. It's a great place to have a picnic on a sunny day!
Another - and one of Calgary’s great parks. Good parking.to start your run.or bike ride on either side of the bridge - north or south. Paved trails on both sides of river & many bridges heading East make for a nice run or bike loop of any distance. Also the hill heading from South side of parking lot is perfect for run or bike intervals. Great & fast group of Cyclists (road riders) meet at top of Edworthy Hill (Near Spruce Drive SW) most Wednesday’s at 6pm for the Wednesday Night Jam! It’s a hammer fest drop ride. 50 to 90km depending on the day light (time of tear).
