Clean with many machines. The service wasn't wonderful. We were there for about 30 minutes before anyone approached us for a cocktail or food. A missed opportunity for their establishment if they aren't on top of it.
For Jester’s Buffet…. i went there October 23,2021 im not satisfied for my cravings crabs. The only i always visit this buffet is crabs legs… the crabs legs is mushy From my experience there are things that cause crab meat to become mushy. Either the crabs were over cooked.i asked the staff about crabs legs and they said. Is changed supplier that’s why the crabs legs not Recommended to anyone now… as a crab lover.before you go to your table or before your pay. Please check it out the crabs first so you can aware of that. I won’t happened to anyone my experience. Im disappointed…
Elbow Casino is one of the least wheelchair friendly places I have encountered. No ramps at any entrance, only one of two elevators is easily accessible and in order to get out you have to ask security to buzz you out as they have the button behind the security desk
I couldn't take a cup of coffee for the coffee machine was not working. I asked the bar staff for a cup of coffee but he said "wait" only. The staffs were having chat and laughing. I and the other customer asked for something to drink but the staff came to me threatened likely to hit my face with his phone. I gave up to take coffee and returned to the slot machine to play. A few minutes later the security supervisor came to me and ordered to come in front of him. He ordered me to go out. I and the other customer only asked some coffee and I said them they are unkind. The staffs and securities are act as police officers and ordered like God. This is real and I'm a 70 years old man.
Dark, and very quiet, still they had a friendly staff to lead u thru the place, elevators from parking lot (underground) a bit confusing, still a good place to win or loose.
In the covid era, they are the only place, other than The Blues Can that could book decent bands for weekend dancing. Full house again tonight. The most asinine is Vintage, decided not to have bands until December, according to their management. As for Murrieta, pathetic booking of "un-danceable" venues. Mind you a lot bands have disbanded during covid.
Took $20 in expecting to lose it, played a few different machines and walked out with +$7 bucks. For a Casino, what are you really going to write here. If you WIN, the review will be good, if you LOOSE the review will be bad. Good way to spend (pardon the pun) your time for an hour or so. Know your limmit, play within it!
I went for dim sum brunch. The staff was friendly and the food was pretty good. The no refill policy on soda pop seems petty when most patrons are gambling so the establishment is making tremendous profit already. The food price was average, not lower as I would have expected with a casino meal. For dim sum I would not recommend going here specially. If you're in-house already and want to eat dim sum, then it's good.
I worked there only two weeks security guard They told me to work night shift 10 to 12 hours When I asked the management please can I work 8 hours night shift he told me no & fired me People who works there long time I mean security personnel they make new workers Do there job When I asked management to I can work 10 hours he still said no Anyway don't work for Elbow River Casino Not good place to work!
I hardly ever gamble these days, so I'm only commenting on the restaurants.
One is in a comfortable airy and spacious (great for social distancing) dining room sided by a long bar. The other is a cafeteria and sandwich topping bar with fast foodsuper low prices.
Both exceeded expectations. Excellent food quality, service, menu selection and below average prices. The Chinese food from the full menu
Also, the first bar (in Calgary*) I've seen stock Hennessy XO rather than only VSOP or nothing. A glass was a shockingly reasonable $23 when XO retails st over $300 a bottle in AB, which allowed me to sample this amazing cognac this one time celebrating Remembrance Day with a fellow vet**. They presented the bottle for inspection (on request) in the nearly forgotten traditional manner. Classic good manners!
They have a strange fetish for Grey Goose though, decorating the entire back side of their roughly 50' bar with identical unopened stacked bottles.
I guess they'll never run out of vodka, but it's odd that they've tied up that much money in inventory they're not selling. Perhaps the gamblers.
*As a general rule, I don't attend bars but for food or when living above one, but I make a point of asking after that and Scotch whenever passing through one. There is one restaurant on the second floor of the only indoor mall in Edmonton Chinatown with Hennessy VSOP in their display window adjacent the entrance.
If any afficienado readers (or sommeliers) would comment on this review—particularly affluent ones—I'd like to know where it is sold uncorked. I'm guessing: places requiring that this shabby, 'poor boy, ' see a tailor before admittance?
If your a smoker going outside can b very interesting because of Alphas detox and the homeless people that are around there that are constantly using drugs outside
Security here need to be te-trained in the art of RESPECT. They think that because they wear a badge that they can harass and beat up anybody, like they did to me
It was comforting knowing they check temperatures but wish they enforced hand washing. But understandable that they can't with the population that goes there
Place was dead. Very little to play in way of slots as they seem to have chosen to not put plexiglass partitions like the other casinos in Calgary. Very disappointing. Will not be returning until that changes.
Not only were the staff behind the Bar serving beverages friendly & well mannered. But also those working the register who cash out VLTs and Electronic gaming tickets we're quick very polite and helpful in regards to answering any questions you may have. The only thing negative I would have to mention about this Casino is the lack of Servers (taking drink & food orders) available throughout the entire casino. I arrived shortly after 8: 00pm and stayed till close (3: 00am) and not once was I approached, asked or seen any floor staff available to answer my questions or take my order.
Fun fact: Elbow River Casino does dim sum Friday to Sunday for lunch and it's actually pretty good! I don't gamble so this review is only about their dim sum.
A good rule of thumb for trying Chinese food in any questionable establishment is to look around you. Do you see Chinese people eating here? If the answer is yes, then the food MUST be decent. I arrived at 11 am, right when the restaurant opened, and was seated right away. By 11: 30 the place was packed with Asians who knew of Elbow River's best kept secret.
The menu is surprisingly extensive and the prices are completely reasonable. The staples like shrimp dumplings, shui mai and chicken feet were all good and fresh. Portions were generous. They even have a Hong Kong café menu with noodles, rice dishes and combos. The service is more attentive and the food comes out quick. The atmosphere is much quieter too. Caveat: can't bring the kids since the restaurant is in the casino. That's OK, it's nice to not dine in the presence of screaming children every so often.
Even if you don't enjoy the ambience or the food because you've been spoiled by other dim sum establishments, you can't complain about the price. You'll realize how much restaurants like T Pot and Forbidden City are gouging you when Elbow River serves up 6 equally tasty shrimp crepes for the low price of $4.99, compared to 3 crepes for $5.99 at the aforementioned restaurants. Almost all dim sum dishes were $4.25, not more than $4.99.
Seriously, go try the dim sum at Elbow River. It's not a gamble. Your belly will always leave a winner!
Winning or losing but i always love this place. Amazing environment and and great staff. They also have some delicious options for food. I am going with 5 star for this casino.
This place is located in the heart of the city just as you are about to exit downtown to the South and very close to the popular Calgary stampede grounds. Pretty sweet, if you are from out of town.
Mardi Gras themed with tired decorations. Has the standard tables and slot machines. There was a live band when we went which played some classic rock songs. They got mad at us for trying to take a selfie to celebrate my bday.
Came here with some friends from out of town. We were having a great time and everything was going well.until we took a picture of my friend in front of a VLT. All of the sudden we were surrounded by 10 security guards and being threatened to be removed. I was absolutely shocked!
Always a great time to go. Great staff. Every helpful. Left my phone and wallet there one time and got both items back the next day. They got your back.
I had a super awesome night at yuk yuks with all my friends. After the show we proceeded to head to the bar closest to the yuk yuk entrance inside the casino. We proceeded to have only three drinks together, and then Captain buzz kill from the bar walks over and so rudely tells us that we can't just drink at the bar all night because the AGLC will get him in trouble. So rude. I hope he is not a part of the staff in future. We had such a good night and he ruined it. I will not be supporting this casino anymore. No one was overserved. So there should have been 0 problems.
Did Chinese food one night. Best Ginger Beef I have ate. We also took in the Seafood Buffet. All the crab you can eat, shrimp, oysters. All this for $23.99. Definitely worth a try
