Here for globalist and the fireworks final. Nice place. Lots of people but really crowded yet. Looks like a place that people enjoy coming to$ very pretty place.
Was there for Globalfest. Well organized event. Covid protocols were in place but not intrusive. The fireworks were amazing. The venue was the perfect place for the event. Reasonable to get to. Organized parking and access. Friendly and helpful staff and volunteers all around. Security was also there but really blended in without being noticed. Overall it was a great event and I will definitely attend next year.
Every year they have the fireworks event in this place and a lot of people gather here to watch different countries perform their own fireworks. A good place to jog and bike
Beautiful park with the changing of the season. Park with wide open green space with some benches and lots of room for a picnic, surrounded by trees and in the centre is a elongated pond. We saw blue heron, ducks, Canadian geese and other small birds. Some sections are paved, while the surrounding pathways around the pond is entirely gravel. The park recently added gray rocks and gravel which isn’t packed down. It can be dusty and bumpy to bike or walk on. A new kid’s park is nearly complete. It looks like the City of Calgary staff are finishing the final touches planting the flower beds and trees. The kids will be happy!
Oh, this is also the place where Global Fest is held last month. Park is near the East hills shopping Centre and International 17th Avenue.
Global fest was fun thing to watch Elliston Park.apart from global fest park has lots to offer nice big loop around the lake plus two separate play areas. Its like little nature spot within the busy city.
Nice open place around a small lake at the edge of town for a walk, jog and very unique playground equipment. Also the site of the annual Global Fest in late August.
Why is this beautiful park pretty much deserted on a hot summer Saturday? The path is maintained, playground, lake, dog.park, and flowers and trees. The more people to use it and the safer it would be. It would be great if they could get paddleboats here and more picnic tables and BBQ options. More people means more opportunities for ice cream vendors etc.ncheck it out people of the east.
A easy to do walk that is not crowded. One park is currently under construction, but a couple of the smaller ones are still open. We often come for a picnic because it is easy to get to, also easy to take a stroller around the path
I walked through the park doing a bunch of down I went unconscious and awoke in my parking lot. This was a bad experience one can only appreciate once you've been to forest lawn
Needs some trees near water, for shade possibilities. Nice if they would create something to put some oxygen into the water. Beautiful treasure otherwise
Awesome for large gatherings, natural open areas for families, pets and outdoor activities. Walkway along the river (upriver) will take you downtown. Great access to the river for water activities. Kid friendly spots on the riverbank.
Elliston Park is a very beautiful Walk in Winter, you will not want to come here in summer though. The water can be very very stinky as it is the pond where all the street water culminates. Winter is a wonderful time to walk, especially with your dogs!
Elliston Park is a wonderful place to go for a walk, bring your children and dogs. It does get a little muddy while the snow melts so plan accordingly for that.
Always a great place to go for a walk, off-lease dog park nearby, there are several playgrounds inside and a sundial and public restrooms. Honestly it's a great place to walk a dog or go for a jog, the path goes all the around and is a solid path. Autumn is my favourite time to walk around the park, it may be chilly out but the view of the leaves changing colours is amazing.
Love this park for letting the dogs run and catch frisbees and balls but people do not pick up after their dogs. It is gross. Winter okay when all is frozen but milder days be prepared to bath your pet when you get home. Pretty gross. Maybe more garbages would help. Not enough definitely
Rite now at this time its minus 20's wind chill maybe closer to minus 27 it's to cold only the runners cold weather enthusiasts or people walking der dogs will like
The wife told me how great this park was. She went her with our last dog. Well we stopped by there today, wife says she's disappointed in the state of the park. Trail is just muck, looks like it use to be gravel. The big thing I noticed was the amount of dog doo that hasn't been picked up. Watched numerous people walk away after their furry one left a douce. Sadly spent more time dodging doo then watching my dog. Maybe if they had more garbage cans people would be more inclined to pick up after their dog.
By far my favourite dog park. Great scenery and not over run with dogs. Although only half the park is an off leash dog park it is still approx 2.5k walk. There are poop bags supplied if you are in a pickle which keeps the park quite clean in comparison to other parks. Landscaped also once a week so park is also well maintained!
A quiet place to off leash your dog its a pleasant walk only down side is the pond is street overflow with the dump next store and a petroleum plant exploded on the same lot 20 years ago! All of which contaminates the pond the city should put up small fence around the water since they made it a off leash dog park around half of it. You ever tell a dog you can't drink or swim there when there off leash playing yea right!
Don’t miss the annual fireworks competition called Globalfest. Amazing!
Each night there is a different country competing and the show is synchronized to music. There are vendors of all cultures selling food and exhibits where people from around the world share their various cultures.
I can’t say I’ve been to Elliston Park besides Globalfest. I believe it’s a reclaimed pond next to one of our landfills so I personally wouldn’t touch the water there
Went here during Globalfest. Absolutely awesome. Lots of great things to see, amazing performances. Food trucks, and pavilions. To top it all off, the fireworks shows are amazing. Parking can be hard to find and traffic moves pretty slow when it is done.
