I have recently installed a solar micro generating system on my home, EPCOR could not over 3 months figure out how to bill for this system. I spent hours on the phone trying to get them to understand their own bill.
They were charging me for both power and delivery fees for all electricity both generated and received, and then giving me a credit just for the generated power. Their billing department could not understand how a solar system works, and I kept getting told that this is new for them so please be patient while we over charge you every month.
Do not use them if you have solar panels!

I can’t honestly think of a less desirable situation to be in than dealing with Epcor. They are uniquely equipped to beat you down and kill your soul. Need to speak to someone? Pack a lunch, you’ll be on hold for the better part of the day! Oh, but the automated message said your approximate wait time is counting down and you’ll be addressed in two minutes? Well, at two minutes you just stop getting updates. Pretty sure these people went home for the night but have me on hold. At least tell me you hate me and I’ve wasted the last hour and a half of my life for nothing. That or spit directly in my face. For real, just the worst. Want to deal with your questions online but you’ve recently changed your phone number? Tough luck jabroni, the two step authentication is here to ruin your life even further! The amount of quiet rage I feel is unparalleled.

I just want to know why you would charge someone almost $300 and not tell them about the cheaper option which takes just a day longer for almost half the price, to take a limiter off after having one installed because of that someone being unable to pay that said bill. Seriously, why does it cost that much? What are you charging that amount for exactly? Flip a button? Also the limiter makes it so you can even run your stove to cook food. Like that's not a vital necessity. UNETHICAL.

I have always had a pleasant experience with Epcor over the phone, their staff are kind and helpful, the call menu is simple and you get through to someone easily. Their online My Account works very well, and again, is simple. Their bills are complex though but I think that is more of a utility industry thing. Overall, Epcor does a great job with customer experience, I really appreciate how they keep things simple for customers.

Encor is Shady company. Kicked me off my fixed rate plan because I underpaid my bill by $2.72 no notice was given. Now I’m paying 4x the amount to same company but it’s Epcor regulated rate.

Rated 1 start for the following reason:

1. This organization should be under investigation for malpractice, they make mistakes that's causing harm to the public and take no responsibility for it.

2. Power is an essential service, I've tried reason with them, they wouldn't take nothing but a full payment (2000$) of a bill that's erroneous in the first place. Discouraged and disparate for electricity, I offered a payment plan that was more then reasonable but they refused and kept our power shut.

This story goes much deeper but I rather not say too much. Let's just say I came within minutes of someone loosing their life because of unnecessary negligence.

More to come, I will start a Facebook group to put pressure on this organization to be investigated. I'm under the impression that theirs conflicts of interest between this company and some government bodies that should act as watchdog to prevent this type of careless conduct.

EPCOR likes to steal from their customers. I was overbilled by about $1100 over nine months based on an insane "estimated" water usage and the credit ultimately provided was about $300 short. EPCOR are legalized thieves.

Hung up on me numerous times as I've been trying to get ahold of them as to switch plans/move to Encor. Clearly a profit strategy as I now owe late fees as well as a ridiculous bill because Epcor refused to come and read our meter, answer my calls and guesstimate my utility consumption. From never missed a payment to dishonest billing strategy, all in one bill cycle. Terrible, 0/5 all around if allowed.

Worst service and the highest charges that you ever see.
Because of their monopoly people suffer with high billing rates.
It doesn't matter whether we use water or not we have to pay the same amount of bills to maintain the fraudulent service.
Since there is no one to compete Edmonton water charges are extremely higher than in Toronto.
Also the quality of the water is the worst. People have no choice.
Epcor plays it's game in increasing the charges.

There should be an option in these reviews to give zero stars to mark it as the worse of the worst.

My experience with Epcor. I had a leak at my main water shut off and had a plumber on site. Called the emergency shut off and they came out promptly and then the shut off was worn out so they rushed a vac truck out to fix that so they could turn off the water so I can get my burst pipe fixed and get my water turned back on. If I could commendate Drew I don’t know if he is a supervisor or what not but he was super helpful and understanding and super patient considering how stressful the situation was. He coordinated everything like a true pro. I hope this gets him a commendation or something of the sort. I do have the email of a manager so I may follow up with that as well. Thanks for the hard work and quick and timely response.

Engineering and approvals from the inexperienced staff has been crippling projects throughout Edmonton. If these problems aren’t eliminated, the construction field is doomed OR start to become extremely costly for tax payers due to the contractors increasing prices due to the transparency of inadequacy.

I thought shutting someone's power off in -0 degree weather was illegal.guess I was wrong. Should also mention there were no collections or arrears that caused this, just a 'mistake'. Now we wait up to 48 hours to have our power turned on. Speechless. Will be escalating to the ombudsman.

Customer service is garbage, they didn't send out mail and we don't know what to pay, won't give out information because my name is not on the bill even though I live at the place of billing, says wait for next bill payment so going to have to pay double because of their fault of not sending the mail, what a scam of a company.

This company holds a monopoly over energy and water distribution so naturally they price gouge and penalize you like crazy, see you as a paycheck and customer service is nearly non existent.

We were sent one guy from Epcor to change our water meter but he said he couldn’t do it because the crawl space it was in was too tight and we’d need to get a plumber to move the existing meter before he could change it to a new Epcor meter. I called back and requested someone else and they sent BRAD from meter services who, like a hit man with an amazing attitude, got right down in that tight space and changed the meter in about 15 minutes. Very pleased with Brad. Brad good.

Absolute worst service I had.we called 24 days early to request services move to a new apartment, we get here on move day and there's no power. We call them and they tell us "since you called earlier than 14 days of the move day, power transfer is not guaranteed to be on time". Absolutely infuriating, they punish you for calling early and being prompt.
The complaints department was even worse, they didn't care at all and basically told us "tough luck". We're now spending the weekend without power.get your services somewhere else.

It is practically impossible to talk to a real person, let alone find a phone number that doesn't transfer your call until it's inevitably lost and you give up in total frustration.
I spent most of Friday afternoon trying to talk to someone connected with replacing power poles on the streets & lanes of this city.
The only thing that Epcor does successfully is insulate themselves from the customers who are unlucky enough to be in this city and have no choice but to be abused by their lack of response and caring.

They now have a monopoly on water and waste water services In Edmonton, council will only protect you till 2021 for rates then expect a minimum 30 percent increase in water rates, which will only mirror wastewater rates.
Bought the utilities for dirt cheap, won't do any upkeep but have no problem charging ridiculous amounts. For a company that's all about the brand it's amusing to see a united view of how much people dislike this company.
Wish there was more choice to buy from, if you think buying utilities from them is a pain, try working for them and see first hand the double standards this company has towards its employees.

This company is a complete sham and rip off.my bills with epcor were unbelievablely high and outrageous.always paid over 200 to 300 a month with epcor so I switched to Enmax for gas and power and my bills have never been over $150 a billing cycle.even just energy my bills were ridiculous and rhe customer service with both these companies is the bottom of the barrel.just energy is worse then epcor.to bad there isnt a different company for water or Id lieave epcor all together
