Nice spot, but needs a bigger dancefloor. My friend was looking for something they lost, and the bouncers didn’t let them back in, because they forgot to give my friend a stamp—even though they were outside for not even 2 minutes. The bouncers were also rather rude and impatient, even when there was nobody else trying to get in. I could get it if they were getting paid minimum wage, but they’re bouncers so I doubt they’re getting paid so little.

Edit: yes they very much happened that way. Sucks this is the only lgbtq+ spot in town.

I didn’t know I had to dress gay to attend.
Just because I looked straight everyone treated me as such including the staff. I left crying feeling like I don't belong no anywhere. I just wanted to find friends nothing more.
Nice gay bar over all. Just don't go dressed as a black stud you will be considered one of those bar creeps. I can't believe I
experienced this a gay bar. I wish I was never born I feel so disgusting just by having the assumption throw out at me.

I think the staff watch or security need a lessons on what and who to watch out for in a bar not just the assumed straight black guy.

Great dance floor, safe atmosphere, and hilarious staff. Always a great time here. Shoutout to the coatroom lady, the real MVP!

I have always wanted to come here, but hate club vibes in general. I decided to check this out after leaving the Iron Maiden concert early. I am so glad I came, the drag show that was happening was 10X better than Iron Maiden. The vibe was nothing but positive, and I felt like no one would challenge me to a fight because I accidently made eye contact or bumped them in a busy bar. Also my first drag show I attended and will be going to many more.

If more places in downtown Edmonton had this positives vibe, I would come to downtown Edmonton more often. I will be back. My only complaint was the stage is not high enough for shows, or there were too many tall people blocking my view, and im slightly above average height

Absolutely one great place to go out and party in Edmonton! Awesome dance floor. Great staff. Drink prices are decent, too!

Gay, between, or 100% straight, all walks of life are respected there. It's just a blast of a fun time! Party central!

Everyone is happy and wants to have a good time. Never see the usual drunk douchebags that want to pick fights and cause a scene. They're just not there!

Attention! No kitchen. Eat supper somewhere else! And that's ok!

My only complaint is that they used to have 2 separate rooms with DJ's. Since the "quiet room" standard came into the bar scene, the HUGE second room/dance floor is completely empty and.wasted in my opinion. Would love to see that aspect again. I totally miss it the earlier years! Those are only memories now.

I've gotten to come here for a
a couple of events and just for a night out, several times now, and it doesn’t disappoint. There's something about this safe and welcoming place with an incredible vibe. I love coming to dance here. Whether I've come alone or with friends, it’s always been a fun time with much warmth and great energy.

This place has always been my favorite nightclub I always have so much fun when I go. Whether it is to watch shows or just to dance the night away I have never been disappointed with my time at Evolution.

Evolution is always a great time. It’s Edmontons only queer bar and club. The staff and owners are some of the nicest people I’ve met. The shows are always amazing and fun. Most importantly we always feel safe to be us when we’re there.

Wouldn’t let my friend in on HIS birthday their was 8 of us, and door man said bcuz of dress code, he was dressed fine. SMH it was fine we ended up going to Shade down the road where they let ALL of us in with NO problems at all.

Went with my best friend last night and had an absolute blast. The staff made us feel right at home. <3

Always a fun time at Evo! You always feel safe dancing here and getting drinks. No one harasses you. Everyone is super nice and the staff are the sweetest people in the world! Don't go to Church of John. Come here instead! Plus, drag shows are always happening and there is a cage to dance in which is so much fun!

Came here after the Shania Twain concert with a group of friends and had THE BEST time! The staff were friendly and fun, we all felt incredibly safe, and it was awesome to see a truly inclusive space to dance and let loose. One of the best bar experiences I've had in a long time. Thank you!

I’m a very friendly person and was just trying to play the pool with my boyfriend (one of my arms is in a sling) and got called out saying I gotta play pool with 2 arms then was verbally abused and my boyfriend was physically and verbally abused and we thought this place was accepting of everyone.: (

Very Mid. A club trapped in 2004

as a first timer but bar veteran here we go:
6$highballs, no room at the entry, weird layout, quite dumpy. Is it a bar or a club?
I understand they have most people by the shorties because it's one of the only inclusive bars in E town but honestly you can do better. Just go to Beercade or GRETA if you want a wild night with a classy space and fun things to do. Staff were nice though.

Went here for a concert during JUNOfest and had a blast. The place was inclusive, the service was friendly and personable, and the drinks were yummy! Great venue and the great staff made for a great time.

Last night my friend had a bad experience with a woman working at the entrance. After my friend and I got our ID’s scanned, my friend opened the door and told our friends waiting outside that 4 people could come in. The woman then said “no only TWO people are allowed in, if you say that one more time you’re getting kicked out. ” My friend and I walked downstairs in shock almost because it was completely out of nowhere and so hostile for no reason? Apparently as we were going downstairs our friends overheard her say to her coworker “that girls definitely going to get kicked out”, which for the record, she did not. That really threw off the vibes for the rest of the night; we were confused and annoyed at how employees can greet you like that upon entering a bar.

Friendly bar staff. Fun crowd. Saturday's DJ set, however, was criminally bad. Emotion and nuance stripped pop/gay hits pandering with flat electronic overlay. The most jarring and abrupt transitions I have ever heard. We made the best of the night, but it was shockingly awful.

Such a great crowd and staff. Everyone was so friendly and there for a good time. However I'm almost upset at how Jaring the playlist was. I've never seen so many people standing on a dance floor having conversations. We'd dance for a track, then go get drinks, chat and/or leave.

There is a lot of talent in the area and what they need is a DJ that is having a good time. If they're having a good time and know what they are doing! Then everyone in the club will be having a Great time.

Went here for the first time on my last trip to Edmonton. The place was very fun and very welcoming. Not a fan of cash only bars personally though.

My favourite place to go in the city. Here I feel so safe and the vibes are immaculate. Such great people and atmosphere. Staff is very caring and observant. They had a new DJ last night and I think they were great. Did play a lot of Latin but it’s something I can boogie to. No complaints!

After going to a few bars on whyte ave,
my friends and I came here & never have i felt SO safe at a bar. I dont need to worry about unwanted advances, and all the staff & people that some party are super kind. 10/10 recommend if you’re looking for a fun, inclusive bar!
