Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Calgary Downtown

Ive been a regular and staying here for years on all my visits to Calgary from BC and each time it gets worse and worse.

This most recent trip was the last straw with it. I called the hotel to inquire about a room, they told me it would be $200 for a room. I looked and booked on Expedia for $150 instead to save money. When I got to the hotel they asked for my booking and I showed them, they needed a credit card and ID for incidentals. I gave them that and then got signed into my room. I valleted by vehcial and said I had to have it out by 6: 30AM the following morning and they assured me no problem

The next morning when I went to get my car no one was to be seen. Finally tracked down my keys and by car was burried in a parking lot of tetris parked vehicals. It took over 30 minutes to shuffle the cars around in the park to get it out and it was a complete disaster. Missed my meeting and appointments because of it.

Side note the breakfast is unedible and aweful. Go to the resturant next door.

The next day I get an email with a reciept from my stay from the hotel, they had booked another room on my credit card and charged me $190 for it ontop of the room I booked with Expedia. No one at the front desk will answer my questions or help me with a refund on it now and keep directing my to the Manager there.

Ive left voicemails with them and no calls being returned. Finally had to open a complaint with the corporate office and get a case file and now will spend far to much time and engery trying to just get a refuind of $200 because of incompitence.

Every single stay gets worse and worse there and this was my last visit I will have with this Marriot.

I had a wonderfull stay at this hotel. Located in Calgary downtown with 10 minutes walking distance to Stephen Avenue and The Core shopping center. Highly recommended. About 5 minutes walk from Calgary Tower as well. My room overseas the tower.
Also, Step into the street and looke east to see sn rise.

Stayed here for work and was a little underwhelmed. They wanted my personal credit card even though my company had already booked the room. My shower wasn't draining (though they did fix it the next day)

All good except the rooms on the 2nd floor are so noisy because there is a restaurant on the 1st floor.

Honestly I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. A parking mishap on their part cost me both my car being towed and more than $200 in fines for no reason, and they weren't willing to help at all! Not to mention it's a "pet-friendly" hotel, meaning I had to deal with a neighbour's dog barking almost the whole night, which they also did nothing about. I really felt like the staff didn't care.

Look around the downtown, you'll find way better options. Pathetic.

Front desk agent was friendly and welcoming. She was quick to check me in with all the information.

Booked a stay for August 16-18th however plans had changed and I cancelled the room on August 9th (well within the cancellation window). Today I checked my card and discovered that I had been charged for one night. I called and spoke with D. R.at front desk who resolved the issue. She advised that my cancellation had not flowed through. I received no folio notifying my of the charge, and I am very unimpressed at being unnecessarily charged. How many others have experienced the same, but haven't checked their statements yet. I am rethinking future bookings with the Marriott brand

Valet parking, nice clean rooms.and friendly staff, quiet hotel with comfy beds close for downtown business.

The rooms are sweet, clean. The service is great. The breakfast, I wish had more variety for vegetarians.

Perfect hotel stay during the stampede. Very central location to the stampede and restaurants. Elevator was very slow. Reception desk is on the 2nd floor.

2 stars because of the great location, next to some of the best food in Calgary.
The rest is so poor, one elevator working for 12 floors (the second one out of service for 3 days and still not repaired), tired rooms, anemic breakfast (not even the regular offerings that all Fairfield inns should have).
The staff is very polite and helpful but an email to the manager was never responded to and an encounter with a suited executive came to “maybe you should take the stairs and get some steps in”.
Marriott; why don’t you take this hotel off your roster. It compromises your brand and made me book the next stay on my road trip at a competing chain.

Good location. Very friendly service from front desk and support staff. About a 15 minute walk to Stampede park. Taqueria next door is delicious. Rooms are what you'd expect at this price point. Only downside is parking, no self-park option but there is plenty of room on the nearby streets (we used valet option)

Stayed early July 2023 for one night in room 706.
- Overall we had a good experience here and would stay again
- Hot breakfast was above average, with cheese omelets and sausage
- Room 706 is a good sized, two room suite, 2 queens, sofa, 2 tv's
- Front desk and cleaning staff were friendly and helpful
- TV in sofa room didn't work, but we didn't ask for it to be repaired
- all pillows are same, but too soft for our taste
- space for only one raised suite case, others must be placed on floor
- one of two elevators was out of service and elevators are slow so long wait times for elevators

Everything was fine with this hotel except 1 broken elevator made it constantly take forever to get to and fro the 9th floor. Also, the towels in the room are thin and rough and should be replaced.

Great location, lots of places to eat around. You have everything you need in the room. Breakfast was ok, lots of options. Staff is also very friendly, there were stains on the bed sheets but they replaced them soon. The valet parking was very annoying for us. It is confusing when you arrive, especially if there is no space left. Next day we asked for our car and had to wait 35minutes, we ask again inside and they forgot. Day after it was no issue and then we got our car after 5 minutes. I would come here again, but only if I don't have a car.

Nice and clean hotel room wonderfully situated in the heart of downtown Calgary.
Great location with plenty of restaurants and bars in the area.
We were kindly upgraded to a studio suite which we highly recommend if you are bringing large suitcases for extra space in the room.
The only downside is that there was no safe for our passports.
One of our favourite things was the excellent valet service which is very useful when staying in downtown.
The free breakfast was also great.
A special mention to Angela who checked us in and gave the most wonderful customer service!

Good option in Calgary if you need to work in Downtown. One elevator with issue during entire week and it was causing 2-4 minutes waiting time to get the elevator. Breakfast good, could have more options of Ham and Cheese

Nice hotel but rooms are small.be very careful when arriving as even though they have valet parking you are not allowed to stop in front of the hotel as there are many city parking restrictions in effect there.there is a parking lot behind the hotel so use that to go in and register and then they will park your car where it is allowed to be parked.go to second floor to register
