The Go-To store for when I feel the reading bug bite. I show anyone new to Calgary this great shop that has the most helpful staff. They can look up books at both locations and are so knowledgeable. Ask them what they're reading!
This book store is amazing. I'd only ever been to the Inglewood location but this is awesome. Bright, open, and the girl at the front was able to look up and find a book for me I've been wanting for months for a steal of a deal!
Lots of used books, prices are a bit high on some books but generally ok and they will take their books back for 50% credit and they have an inventory of books on hand so you can make a quick phone call to see if they have the title or author you are looking for. I always keep fairs fair in the rotation and often find unique books I have been searching for.
I LOVE this place, The owner is awesome, the staff is awesome, Fairs fair is the bookstore of Calgary! I highly recommend this place for any and every book. Best part is if you get tired of your book you can return it any day, as long as it has its Fairs Fair price tag and you will get half of what you paid in store credit to use towards more awesome treasures. Thank you for being awesome and local.
Very nice store. It has a fair bit of parking. Has a good selection of books. I find it very organized by category. A very nice environment to browse through. They will also give you store credit for used books. I will start using them for that. I was very pleased with the store and will return.
Staff were so helpful and lovely to chat with. Super well organized and easy to search for things! Love the fact that if you bring a book back you get credit for it towards another purchase. Will 100% be back!
Every time I'm in Calgary I stop here. I'm always hunting for old books from a niche series, and almost every time I find at least one book I'm missing. Great store with lots of media formats.
100% recommend this place if you like books and graphic novels, the pricing is fare as well. Also the back Warehouse reminds me of the ending to Raiders of the lost ark!
This place is bizzare, it's like you've fallen into a different realm, so many books available at great prices. Incredibly knowable staff will guide you right to the place you need to be.
Massive location, and I loved the book warehouse.found a bunch of books here I've never seen at other locations, books in different languages, it was a great find.
I found 2 classics by the Bronte sisters, a psychosexual study, and a copy of Dante's inferno on my first trip there, will definitely be back
Great selection of used books on all imaginable genres. Plenty of stock and prices are reasonable. Bonsai for taking books back for credit to buy more books. It's like a the library without the late fees.
Amazing bookstore. Website is confusing though, makes it seem like you can take books to this location for a credit. You can’t until you bought them there.
Both locations of the store are great! The staff are friendly and helpful, product is laid out well. They have a large selection of old and new books, as well as dvds and Blu-ray (some new!)
Good prices, amazing (and helpful) staff, and an wonderfully organized selection. Found a few harder-to-find books here, so its worth a peek in if you're looking to round out your library or find that last missing book to a series!
Wow. Just WOW. I found this amaaazing used books store today. The only dissapointment i had was that i didnt have enough time to really take my time and browse. So i most definitely will be back. I did manage to take home 3 books which im oh so excited to start reading. The books here are about HALF price of the books you would buy at a chapters or online. I bought 3 books for about 30$. The building is HUGE on the inside, doesnt seem so big on the outside but i promise you - you will be impressed. You could bring coffee or tea here with u and sit and read as they have different sitting areas. It is very VERY organized and not dizzying like other places ive been to. Its really well set up. This location will NOT buy ur used books but according to the lovely young lady who helped me around, their inglewood location will buy your used books for cash (fri thu sun) or store credit on ur account (anytime of the week). I am planning a trip back once im done the 3 books i bought to lounge, read and of course buy more books! Mask mandate is in place here and hand sanitizer is available at the front door.
Useless used book store. You are better off buying a Kindle then working with them. I will never shop there again. Making people go someplace else to sell book. What a waste of time.
Always a great day when I get to come look for books. Even if I don't find what I was looking for, I never come away empty handed (empty wallet-ed yes.) and they're always willing to bring stuff in from the other store. The selection is always great, and the organization is clear and easy to find what you're looking for. The staff is always helpful and friendly, and the days the store-dog is in are just the absolute best. Last time I was in, it was great to see that masks were worn and there were barriers around the registers.
This is an awesome place to go, if you are looking for a good book. I also love that when you are finished with the books, you can bring them back and get 50% of what you spent on them and get a new book!
I love bookstores period! Super friendly staff always find just what I'm looking for! Except a copy of Outlander published by Easton Press lol! Still it's fun waiting.
Ladies & Gentlemen.there is still an awesome place to get quality used books! Reasonable prices, good condition books, multiple locations, the Ogden location is where you can get credit for books you bring in as well as exchange your purchases after you read them back in quality condition and get up to 50% credit. So it's a great business model, the Chinook location does not have magazines but i gotta tell ya, you can almost find anything in any category you desire from old to new. So bravo Fair Trade Books on great customer service, ask the knowledgeable staff your inquiries and get reading whatever your flavour or fancy!
Amazing amount of books on every subject possible. I was stung by another small private 'bookseller' in the north and ended up getting the book I wanted at Fair's Fair for half the price he wanted me to pay and without the strange behaviour! Now I go to Fair's Fair before I look anywhere else.
This was my first visit to this location and it was a pleasant surprise! It is well laid out with an unending selection of books. Very friendly & knowledgeable staff. They gratefully accept book donations with proceeds going to help people in need at Mustard Seed! That's awesome!
LOTS of books at very good prices. Not as low as salvation army, but there's a wide selection for everybody. At around 50% off the cover price, and a better selection of less commercialized books, Fairs Fair is defenitly worth checking out.
An amazing number of "pre-read"books of all kinds, types, genres for all ages. Your favourite authors and many soon-to-be me favourites ste seek there in abundance. Plus an excellent opportunity to trade in old books for credit against the next great read. Yup. You read it here second.
Amazing place to spend a few hours. Such a huge selection of every kind of book. Friendly staff, great prices. And everything is in a database so if you just can't find that one book or don't have have time to browse you can call or have the staff do a quick search. They are also able to check the other location's inventory at the same time and offer a transfer option if you want the book brought to the location easiest for you to visit.
LOVE this store! The staff are so pleasant and helpful. Mum and I are reading through the top 100 books featured in PBS's "the Great American Read" and we hit this place up for 10 books every few months and the staff are always awesome to regale their own ideas and/or critiques on the contents of the list. We spend at least an hour looking not just for books on the list but anything and everything!
Going to the Fair's Fair near Chinook is like going to see a 'old' friend! Staff are always pleasant and eager to help find something you are looking for. It is a treasure house for us who love books! If they don't have it they will check to see if Inglewood has it and they will hold it until you can pick it up.
Nice staff but not a whole lot of selections, prices are blow up from what the books are really worth now. They had some high prices for some J. K. Rowling books with writing and stains on it.
I love this book store. The customer service is great and you can find alot of books here. The ladies who always help me are also SO nice to my dog gabriel! The BEST book store in calgary. Forget indigo come here.
Not quite as good as the other location in Inglewood but a large selection none the less. Definitely one of the best places to go if you are looking for books!
You can bring your books back after reading them for a refund of sorts. You can earn free books by visiting frequently. You can also sell your books. AND- there are cozily-placed chairs around the store for you to sit and read. Fair’s Fair is my favorite book store in Calgary.
Front of the store featured major sellers, antique books, popular culture (graphic novels) and DVDs. Back end was the warehouse and it was like walking into a book lovers' dream. More books than you could imagine, for all manner of subjects. Didn't have a lot of decoration to fill space; just efficient storage of what must be one of the largest book collections in the city.
Found a few books that I was searching for. The speration of graphic novels and manga did make searching through them a bit difficult. The selection and organization of the other sections of the store we superb. Great staff too!
