Falconridge Animal Hospital

It’s taken me a long time to decide if I want to leave this review, but I felt that other people would want to know. It’s been over a year since I last visited this clinic, and Dr. Rix. The staff and Dr. Rix are very kind and they seem to care about our pets. But the months leading up to my decision to find a different vet, I had told Dr. Rix that my dog was coughing and wheezing and would fall over, but she said that this was normal for some dogs and insisted that my dog had thyroid disease instead. We did 2 different tests for this and she found nothing, but she still wanted to do a more extensive (and expensive) third test as the first two tests are not reliable to detect the thyroid problem. So I’m not sure why we did them at all. Next, during my dog’s annual check up she recommended that my dog gets a dental cleaning done, however the quoted price was way too expensive so I looked for a second opinion. When I came in for a consultation with a different vet clinic, I had told the VET TECH about my dog’s problem with coughing and falling over, and IMMEDIATELY this was a red flag for her for a heart disease and we did an xray right away. It turns out that my dog indeed has an enlarged heart and fluid in her lungs, and had we gone ahead with a dental cleaning, which required anesthesia, as Dr. Rix had insisted on, my dog would not have woken up. I am wondering why the coughing and falling over did not alert Dr. Rix, but definitely alerted a vet tech. I don’t want to say that this clinic is after the money as they really do seem to care, but I do want to say that for this situation there was definitely some sort of oversight or neglect in the symptoms that presented and a focus on other things that are clearly not there. I could have lost my dog due to this oversight. I hope this review leaves the staff to reflect on this and hopefully this oversight doesn’t happen to others.

Very nice staff - knowledgeable and kind. Great follow up and care from the staff. It was and is awesome.

The Doctor’s are all amazing. Extremely ethical. The Doctor’s all have great character in ethics and morals. Their the best. All the staff are friendly and kind. I will never take my dog to another Veterinarian. They are number 1.

The staff here are always so kind and caring. They truly do care and treat their guests with respect.

Luna was well cared for. She is very stubborn but the vet got the better of her. All was well in the end.thank you for taking such good care of our precious hedgehog.

We take all of our foster babes to Falconridge and the staff are absolutely wonderful. They are always accommodating and will do what they can to make it work with my schedule. The vets are knowledgeable and give great care. The techs are on it and follow up is timely.

A wonderful avian medical team! They were so patient with my little bird and took great care of her during her annual check up and beak/cere trim.i'm so glad I found this veterinary clinic!

Happy to have my cats back with Dr. Rix. Such a wonderful experience, all staff really care about animals and their well being. I felt like this was a true wellness visit for my cats, not just a quick check up. My cats got care, attention and I had all my questions and concerns listened to. My cats were at ease no stress here. Such a great clean caring compassionate clinic. Thank you guys! Shop cat Callie is also so lovely to visit with every time we are here. Dr. Ann Marie Rix is amazing. The staff also amazing and incredibly sweet. My pup pup went in yesterday for his neutering and microchipping and I was so nervous for him and myself. I was put at ease knowing he is in the company of wonderful people. I would definitely reccomend new pup parents to come here.

Last week my fur-baby, Trooper, had problems with his glands. I was frantically looking for many vet.clinics to bring Trooper in. Finally i was able to secure an appointment at the Falcon ridge Animal Hospital. I have no words to express my gratitude with the team in the hospital. All vet staff are genuinely concerned about pet's well-being, starting with the warm greeting and extreme gentle and skillful pet handling during procedure. If i were able, i would give 12 stars to that hospital. Every pet should have the same vet care!

Our two cats go here. One is very old. I’m never happy with the huge price tag of their services. They charge for everything and always add on a service, even when we ask for a medication refill they told us we could get to keep the old cat comfy until it dies. Skip this place. It’s all about money. Expensive care.

Finding Dr. Rix for our budgie was a huge find. Dr. Rix & her staff were so professional. She was very patient & took the right amount of time to learn all about our bird & to allow the freedom to ask any questions. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Rix and her hospital for excellent care.

I appreciate all they've done for my pups. They are very knowledgeable and will walk me through the exam very thoroughly. They are caring, sympathetic and I have no words to describe how comfortable they make myself and pups feel. Always clean, follows protocols like any other medical clinic. Reading some of the one star reviews and it seems to be about cost. This clinic has never made me feel uncomfortable about price. They always give me options and which path I want to take at no pressure at all. This clinic follows basic medical practice. Coming from a medical office myself, if you're late for an appointment and cancel last minute, it is a waste of their time and could have booked another appointment who needs it more urgently. I will always choose Falconridge Animal Hospital as my Vet Clinic. I trust them 100%. Thanks for the years of care!

I don’t think I could be happier with our recent experience at the falconridge animal hospital.
It was a routine puppy check and vaccination for my fur baby. The staff are exceptionally friendly, caring and knowledgeable! There was and still is clear communication. The clinic is nice and clean with a calm atmosphere. I felt welcome to ask all of my many questions about our new pup. My shy girl was even taking treats from the staff which says a lot! I will definitely be taking my puppers here for all her health care needs!
I love the doggy report card that she got sent home with too! A+

We had a horrible experience at this clinic. They ripped us off. They almost killed our pet through lack of experience and incompetence. Not sure if the owner is still hiring a bunch of inexperienced trainees or not. We found her to be unhelpful and uncooperative.

All the staff are really friendly and are fantastic with all of my animals. They are very gentle and caring. My cat isn't always too kind to vets and he hasn't had a problem being handled by their staff. Very patient.

Brought in my little hamster Debbie Lavoto for the first time. I was so happy with the wonderful service and kindness of the staff. I felt like my little one was so well taken care of and I'm so glad I came here. Everyone was so nice! 10/10 place.

Dr. Rix and the staff here are so helpful and genuinely care, not just about the fur babies, but about the families as well. Had my first Covid appt.today, and was very impressed at how everything has been set up. I have been bringing my pets here for about 15 years, and will continue to do so as long as I have animals as part of my family.

Recently started going here for my 3 ferrets. And while they don’t specialize in ferrets per se, they are very knowledgeable and take amazing care of my babies! Amazing and friendly staff. They also offer care at a reasonable price. Very covid smart procedures which made me feel safe, so I highly recommend if you are stressed about covid. I would recommend for anyone with a fur baby!

Incredible Vet office! The staff are always so welcoming and wonderful, genuinely love the animals and care for the well being of the animal. I have been a long time client with them and have taken all of my animals to them, they work hard to ensure the best possible outcome for the animal and are so affectionate and knowledgeable towards the animal. The staff always recognize my animals even if its been a while. I feel very comfortable and confident having my animals in their care.

Unfortunately I will be taking my dog for her second round of shots at a different vet clinic. Today admittedly I was approximately 6 minutes late and they wouldn't see my dog. She told me to rebook for the next day and when j got home and checked my email I saw that the receptionist had sent me either an email right before she came to the door and sawme or right after I left to tell me if I was on my way to call and let them know or id have to reschedule. So within 20 second thier minds changed on seeing me. I find that super confusing. And quite honestly ridiculous after I waited on THEM last time. Always glad to kick a problem in the butt early though. They said they were booked back to back as I stood outside, not a soul in sight (I realize this doesn't mean there weren't animals inside)

The most sincere and kind staff I’ve ever come across. They took care of an injured cat we bought in and cleaned him up very nicely. They are very considerate and very fair with prices. Will be coming back more in the future and highly recommend.

They did my cats dental surgery without delay. Staff was friendly. They charged me $1000 less than what another place quoted

Vets here provide a very high level of veterinary care. They are knowledgeable and try to educate the clients in order to help them provide the best care for their pets when at home as well.

Terrible experience. Been bringing my dog here for four years and the first year has been fine but now all they care about it money. If I want to get documents transfer I need to pay a fee, if I want to cancel an appointment there is a fee, if I want to change my appointment there is a fee. They do not care about the health care of the animals and pets that come into the clinic, they only care about money. They have a business model in mind they do not have your pets in mind. I would recommend any other clinic please, if you care about your pets do not go to this clinic

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS TO THIS CLINIC. They call themselves locally trained and educated but most of the vets in Calgary are locally educated. I brought my dog three times to this clinic, the receptionist was always rude as usual and Dr. Rix had no clue what she was doing with my nine years old Roxie. She offered me expensive tests and x-rays to find out what was going on with my dog. I decided to go to another clinic where they did only blood tests and figured out my dog had low thyroid and started treatment right away.i don't recommend this clinic besause MONEY IS ALL THEY CARE ABOUT.

Dr. Ann-Marie Rix is the most kind and compassionate vet I've ever met. She was absolutely wonderful when we had to put our dog down and the kindness she and the staff at the clinic showed us was never forgotten. So much so years later when I decided to adopt another dog I decided to come back even though I no longer live in the area. To no surprise, she still remembered me! I would highly recommend Dr. Ann-Marie Rix and the falcon ridge animal clinic.

Our experience was directly with Dr. Rix. It was our experience that led us to believe, like other contributors, that all this clinic cares about is getting your money, and they got it from us by subjecting our dog to an endless number of tests, and the corresponding expensive costs. After hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of dollars in tests and advising us that surgery may be required, and being no closer to determining what was wrong with our dog, we took our dog to another vet, who was able to quickly and effectively diagnosis the issue at a fraction of the cost. Our dog was treated effectively with inexpensive medication. Our attempts to "resolve" the issue with Dr. Rix were fruitless. Its too bad one star is the lowest rating I can give.

This is a great place. Always are kind and take great care of our pets for many years. Guinea Pigs are in good hands here!

I brought my dog in because of a growth on her chest. Dr. Rix was very straightforward as to what my options were and what can be done. At the end of the day, I really felt my hound got the best care possible. They also told me upfront cost before I paid. Staff is very nice and would highly recommend taking your animal here!

Very good with animals. Took great care of my fur baby and no pressure. Very informative. Was able to answer all my questions, even the ones I forgot I wanted to ask. Love them, wouldn't take my fur baby's anywhere else

I love this place! Dr. Rix and her team are very thorough and caring. When my guinea pig was sick with a rare disease she went above and beyond to research our options and to try to help him. The staff are very friendly and it's just a great place to bring your beloved pets!

I've been coming to this vet for 11 years and seeing Dr. Rix. She is always very genuine and she cares about my 2 dogs from the bottom of her heart. I feel that a veterinarian should always have the caring factor in their jobs.

I've heard so many terrible stories with other vets with coworkers and friends. There were times when I'd book appointments with other doctors and they would try to upcharge me for unnecessary things.

Dr. Rix understands during surgeries that clients sometimes has a budget and are only prepared to spend a certain amount. She does everything she can to accommodate, while making sure my dogs get the right care.

I'm always able to email Dr. Rix to ask for advice on my dogs. She takes extra time to show me how to clean their ears and shows me how to brush their teeth without the struggle.

I'm so blessed to have Dr. Rix looking after my dogs and I refuse to go see any other doctor. She's the most honest and kind human being and we're so grateful!

The vet was so thorough and so nice. Made our cat relaxed and less stressed than he is at other vets. Definitely recommend.

Don’t take your pets here! Money is all they care about! The prices at this clinic are insanely high! My husband took our dog in here as she had been sick for a couple days the quote for blood work and an exam was $400? If we wanted xrays it went up to $600! Paid the exam fee and left. Took her elsewhere and paid far less. The worst part of this clinic was when my husband questioned what these tests were for and what kind of answers we would get from them the young man (who didn’t look old enough to be a doctor!) said “so we can try and diagnose the cause of your dogs symptoms but I mean you can just take her home and let her continue to be sick and she likely won’t live much more than a couple more weeks if that’s what you want” inconsiderate and overpriced! Go somewhere else save yourself the hassle!

Very kind and supportive folks. Always take good care of my pet when I bring her in. Highly recommend. Especially their Twoonie Tuesday initiative for nail clipping.

Excellent staff and provide good quality care for our little loved ones. Prices are reasonable and I have full confidence in their capabilities.
