Family First Chiropractic & Wellness

I have been a long-time client of an RMT at another clinic, but occasionally try to branch out. Today I was booked with Li. I have always preferred a female so was nervous going in. My area of concern is neck and shoulder tension due to repetitive job-related movement. Hands down this was the most intensive (in a good way!) massage I have ever received. Li was highly methodical and offered a more "physiotherapy" type of massage (but for an entire hour!). He was nothing less than professional and pleasant. I will no doubt be booking with Li again.

Now for the office in general:
Pros:
-beautiful, clean, modern facility
-front-desk staff (Laura) was wonderful
-ease of booking; very reasonable rates

Cons:
-other front desk staff (didn't catch her name) was not so inviting. I too work the front desk of a healthcare facility in Red Deer where I answer the same questions from the public over and over again. I get it, dealing with the public is draining. However, the tone of voice you greet patients with when saying "Hi, how can I help you? " says more than the words themselves.

-106.7 The Drive was playing in the treatment room in the static-y fashion Clearview Meadows is so famous for. Not the most relaxing ambiance lol

All in all: Li gave the best massage I have had to date. For that reason, I will be back.

My pain was at 10/10. Dr. Kelly worked his magic and I left with a 3/10. I continue to get better every time

I did something to my lower back a few weeks ago and I figured it would get better on it's own. Then all of a sudden one day I could barely move. I didn't know what to do. Go to the hospital? Physio? A friend of mine said to try a Chiropractor since I had never been to one before. I had no hope to be honest, it was that bad. I was blown away after my first visit. I couldn't believe the difference. Dr Kelly was able to get me in for an emergency appointment on a Saturday morning. It was a game changer for me. If you've never tried or considered chiropractic therapy and you're having any pain, you would be crazy not to try it.

Dr. Joelle and her staff are wonderful. She is compassionate about her patients and you can tell she loves what she does. We started to see her with one of our newborns years ago to help with reflux, since then she helped through additional pregnancies and our whole family now sees her regularly. We would recommend her to anyone in all walks of life.

Dr. Joelle and the entire Family First team are amazing! From the welcome at the front door to the professional, attentive treatment this clinic takes care of all your needs. Highly recommend for every member of your family from the newborn to the senior, they will care for you all.

Dr Kelly has been working on an older shoulder injury for me. The progress I’ve make is remarkable. He understands the complexity of shoulders and their difficulty with healing. My pain and stiffness has diminished greatly. I highly recommend seeing Dr Kelly if your having any shoulder difficulties.

After being involved in a rear end accident in December 2021 and needing treatments for neck & back pain I was able to contact with Dr Kelly who took me on as a new patient after initial treatment & review which immediately relieved the discomfort he set an well thought out plan of treatment as well as a strengthening program over the course of the last year plus time which has lead to a complete recovery recovery with long term treatments I would highly recommend seeing Dr Kelly got any of your chiropractic care & advice
As well the staff at Family First is first class give Dr Kelly an opportunity to provide for any of your chiropractic needs you will have no regrets

I have received excellent care at Family First. I had spinal surgery last year and I was worried about receiving chiropractic care. Dr Kelly was very kind and addressed my concerns and together we developed a plan of care. Today I am feeling better than I have in years! My two kids also come to see Dr Kelly, they say they always feel better after their adjustments and look forward to their next appointment.

In the middle of home renovations I popped my lower back out, I was in so much pain I could hardly walk let alone continue on with the renovations. After the fist visit I could walk without pain, after the 2nd and 3rd visits I was back to working on the renovations. Happy Wife, thank you Dr Kelly and Family first Chiropractic and Wellness!

Had such an amazing experience the first time there without a doubt expected the same for my second time ever. It was less then 8 mins and I originally came in for my back the pressure of breastfeeding causes between the bra straps to be tight. For some reason it was my hips and pelvis that was the focus. I thought I made it very clear I do not like fast or loud things. There should have been notes that manual manipulation is never an option always prefer the thing that clicks.well it all happened so fast by the time she did one side I was so uncomfortable I do not like anything touching my neck. I asked for the other way. (Click thing) for the other side. It felt so rushed it literally took my longer to drive there then actually being in there with the doctor, if there was notes in my file then absolutely more time and consideration should have been applied. I sat in my car for a good 10 mins not knowing what the heck just happened. Inbetween my shoulders is so tight as the problem was not fixed like the first time. (first time she applied pressure with her forearm bewteen the shoulder blades) I CALLED reception only to be told she will call me but to no avail. Here I am next day cant even move my neck. Super sad about the whole experience feels like for 50 dollars less then 8 mins was excessive there should be more time for people who have on file special notes to acutally listen to those. I don't think i will ever go anywhere else the manual manipulation on my neck really threw me off as I know specifically that was everything I did NOT want loud and sudden. I am mortified and in super pain on the side of my neck she cranked with her hands. Wish we were looked at as individuals and not just money. Ptsd is real. Specifically charted notes should have that and be absolutely followed. 50 dollars for that experience was absolutely mortifying.

I had been going to Christina (RMT) for many months for deep tissue massage therapy when she worked in Sylvan Lake and when I learned she was starting at Family First Chiropractic in Red Deer I booked with her right away. She is great at what she does and I would highly recommend her for anyone looking to start massage therapy or looking for a change.

I love Family First. I became a patient off and on as needed since 2015ish. I can not say enough good things about every single person there. Thank you!

It was my first time seeing g a chiropractor 2 days ago and just went for my second treatment, my body feels great and they walk you threw the while process, highly recommend.

Update: emergency MRI completed, pinched nerve in two places due to herniated discs. Goodbye everything ive worked for in life.

If you ever want to trust a facility for proper care i dont suggest you go here. First off their assessment consists of someone with questionable experience take a couple pics of you standing against the wall while she holds a ruler up. I walked in for routine adjustment before working a 20 day hitch instead i limped out with my torso out of line to my lower body due to a bad adjustment. After 24 hours of trying to ice it and babysit it i found myself laying on the floor of an ER. Xrays showed 3 severely inflamed discs in an area of my back that has never given me grief ever. Now into my 5th week out of work i have ridiculous nerve pain that is almost disabling from my lower back all the way to my now tingling left foot. It causes terrible digestive issues, doesn't allow me to sleep much and has me on multiple prescriptions.

This "wellness" center has caused me extreme, financial, physical and mental pain as well as a growing stress of no income. I went in there a couple weeks later to collect my file and the people at the front desk did their absolute best to not even look at me. Real classy place, steer clear and go absolutely anywhere else!

Since telling this story ive had a few more folks contact me with issues and injuries sustained from this place. The best part is they dont care a single bit about my condition.

As long as you got paid, who cares, right Family First? !? !

If I could give no stars I would, one star is too generous for this place. I used to come here, after my old chiropractor passed and it was the biggest mistake. I went in for minor back pain and ended up with sciatica as I was adjusted in ways that were uncomfortable and unnecessary, adjusting places that were never issues making everything much worse to the point where I couldn’t get out of bed or walk and still had back pain, I even had to take a leave from work due to being bed ridden. They wanted me to come 2-3 times a week and used my benefits up for the year in a month, they also didn’t inform me my benefits were up so I had to pay $200 up front. They only care about money and making sure you keep coming back and spending more money than necessary. They should change their name to money first. Joelle is as rude, verbally abusive and unprofessional as a person can possibly be. I cannot believe the disrespect I have received as a paying client as well as her bullying and belittling me. I would recommend literally any other place but here, I’m sure even hell would be better since that’s what I’ve been through here. Needless to say this place ruined my chiropractic experience along with my health and I will never be able to trust another chiropractor again.

This clinic is great! Dr. Joelle knew exactly what was wrong and treated it accordingly, plus they got me in the same day. She was very reassuring and explained everything before she began. The great reviews really are true, very professional and knowledgeable in what they do.

One of the best chiropractor place you could go too, the very pretty young lady at the front desk, believe to be named kaitlyn, one of the sweetest girls every, she deserves a raise for doing an absolutely an amazing job like always

Absolutely awful experience. Came for a Cranialsacral adjustment. The doctor did not stop saying “oh god. Oh no. This is awful. This is the worst I’ve seen. Wow how is this so bad? ” The entire adjustment on my 7 month old. Provided no hope, only said awful prognosis’s. Was very rough on him, winding him with every push. Cracked his neck with the fast head snap. I wish any parent would research anywhere else first.

Dr. Kelly was so much help. I honestly can't thank him enough. Truly great service combined with a great set up. I highly recommend Family First!

Best chiropractic clinic I've been to. Super friendly and helpful. They're great with little ones too. My daughters love going here to get adjusted. They really do put my family first. Highly recommend!

We have been coming here for years! This is the only place I would come with my newborn (s) -once at only 8 hours old!

I been seeing chiropractics for 15 years and I've never had such detailed chiropractic care. Dr Elton is the most in-depth Dr I've ever seen. This clinic takes the time to work with you on your needs and also leaves you feeling awesome with everything put back in place from c1 to your distal phalanges and everything in-between you didn't know was out of place. Great care here. I highly recommend if your looking for chiropractic care.

Have had pain for a long time and tried physio chiro and massage and dr.clemence is the first to show me any real relief!

He also helped our newborn son, he was in pain and gassy and dr clemence showed us how to help him fart and realigned him so he has a much easier time and can now sleep through the night!

I had started to go to this Chiropractor since I was in the second grade.
My mom brought me to see Dr. Joelle Johnson as that was the women she trusted to crack her neck. When I would complain about my back, and she herself if she could feel a migraine coming on we would book an appointment or set up for a time schedule as the Dr.would recommend.
Not only was Dr. Joelle, so kind and considerate when it came to our wellness and adjustments. As the years past and we continued to see her personally, she had began to follow her passion with bringing wellness to pregnant women, and their young children.
She gave us a recommendation to see Dr. Stephen Kelly.
With that I felt safe in the same environment, while still an adjustment had to be made.
P. S. These Dr. 's are very good at what they do in my personally opinion and they really helped me feel comfortable with my bones.

P. P. S. I would travel from Edmonton to see them again, and would recommend to any of my friends or family, as I do believe my mother still goes there time to time.

Terrible. The doctor over books her time. Waited 45-50 min. And got so fed up I finally just left. I’m sure they are great doctors but this is ridiculous.

The people at the front desk are very nice and polite but I had to give 1 star because Joelle Johnson is really all about money, she overbooks, makes you wait a long time and see you just for 2 minutes, really does not listen to you, I told her I was too tense to have my neck snapped and I did not want her to do it, yet she insisted saying she knows what she is doing and tried twice on both side of my neck with no popping sounds, this means I went home with even more pain. I phoned in after 2 days to let her know and cancel all my appointments, the receptionist told me Joelle would phone me to check on me. It has been 3 weeks and she never called, I don't think she cares. Save your money or invest them in physio and massages instead.dont go here.

We needed to wait 45 minutes before seeing the doctor. Then were rushed through without even listening to the problem that needed to be addressed. Currently looking for a new chiropractic clinic that will actually care. Very rushed clinic and long wait times.

Friendly front desk staff and awesome chiropractors. I have had excellent experience with Dr. Clemence (hopefully I spelled it right) in the clinic for me and my family as well as Dr. Kelley through CBI physio. They also direct bill which makes it even more convenient.

A great atmosphere here.for all.last summer.the big picnic they put on for us patients and families was truly amazing and muchly appreciated.so much for kids to get involved in.a personal touch from Dr. Kelly and staff was so nice.great burgers and picnic overall.first time ever for me attending such an event.was great. Kudos to Family First for doing this.thanks to all.and thanks to Dr. Kelly for 'fixing' me up!

Highly recommend Dr. Joelle for famy/children. Took my new borne to her and her proper and thorough examination has contributed to my first month as a new mom being so much better and enjoyable. I was really struggling with breast feeding but due to her adjustments and recommendation of getting a lip tie looked at changed everything. Lactation consultants and doctors didn't even notice why we were struggling.so very thankful for her careful, compassionate, and caring service!

I've always had back pain for as long as I could remember and was vaguely diagnosed with 'arthritis' when I was 20. I've been to several doctors in my life time and always been told it's just genetics. My father has Ankylosing spondylitis, and I was being told at 20 that I was doomed by my genetics. I'd tried everything to deal with my pain; muscle relaxants, heavy duty pain killers, physiotherapy, acupuncture, I had even tried chiropractic care years ago but don't remember much long term relief. I've had bone scans, radiology, x-rays, blood tests, E. C. T's and cat scans to try and solve this issue, but everything turned up blank.

When my back pain got to the point where I could no longer dress myself, or be conscious at all without it aching, I didn't know what to do.

Dr. Kelly not only found out that my posture was out of whack, but that the muscles on one side of my spine where atrophied, while the other were enlarged from over compensation. My back was THAT misaligned. I could never sit up straight because it would send my back into immediate spasms, and any sort of strenuous activity left me drained from having to work through the pain constantly.

I wanted long term relief instead of tearing my insides apart with anti inflammatories and Dr. Kelly did just that. After a few months of care not only did I learn how to rebuild the muscles in my back but I could sit up straight and dress myself again! Suddenly I wasn't in pain all the time.

A+ place and doctors. Would highly recommend to anyone suffering from back or joint pain!

Friendly staff, and Dr. Elton has been excellent. This clinic was recommended to me and I would whole heartedly continue that by reccomending it to anyone else that is in need of chiropractic services.
