Never will I bring my pet here again. $265 just to have my dogs toe nail to be broken and medicine for the toe. To have everything to be checked for was put down as declined by a dog REALLY. I still don't know what is wrong with her.

UNBELIEVABLE! Worst Experience Ever.
0 STARS. Brought my dog in because she was vomiting every couple hours, and disorientated and weak for a full day. I understand it's a weekend and pretty much the only place open in Southern Alberta, but $2200 for a blood test and hooked up to an IV for 24 hours is a little Ridiculous I think. Then! They say it is possibly Addisons disease and would like to keep her another night for more tests, as they didn't have the test for that disease on hand. OK, Then, a day later go and pick her up and they say she seems to be doing better now, but get her tested for Addisons disease at your Local Vet when you get back home. Then the Vet goes through the tests on paper with us about blood cells, sodium, creatinine, urea, phosphorus, potassium, etc. Like really, I know your just trying to justify the $2200 Bill. But I'm not a Doctor, nor a Lab Technician. I just want to know if my dog is going to be OK.

I would give -5 stars if I could.
I took my 15.5 year old dog there on Friday July 7th because I came home in the evening and found her unable to stand or walk, her gums were white and she was overall just not doing well. They took her to the back right away and said they put her on oxygen and prepped for an IV. They then came out with a form they wanted me to sign authorizing $950 + exam fee. I told them I only had $400. They didn't talk to us for about 40 minutes. The girl working the desk came out finally and basically said she stable and we recommend just taking her home and keeping her comfortable. The way she spoke made it sound like she was relaying information from the vet, they made it sound like they were doing me a favor and told me I didn't have to pay the exam fee. I had to call back a few days later to ask about putting her down, the lady told me it was $600 + exam fee. I told her I had brought her in on Friday for an exam already. She told me that the vet didn't even examine her while she was there for an emergency because I couldn't guarantee I could pay over $1000. I still don't understand why you need to examine her for euthanasia.oh wait, more money in your pocket, that's why. Not a single other clinic I called required an exam. No compassion, money hungry vets! They only care as much as you can pay. Absolutely disgusted with this place, how you are still in business I'll never know. Preying off of peoples emotions, shame on you! Do not take your pets here.

Worst clinic in town, hands down. You deserve 0 stars.
The vet couldn't be bothered to look at a my friends 15.5 year old dog that was brought in for an emergency visit, she was anemic and falling over but because they couldn't sign a form authorizing a minimum $1000 payment, the vet couldn't be bothered to look at her. They literally just told them to take her home. Shame on you for calling yourself "animal lovers", the reality is your money lovers. You would rather let a dog die than work with the funds the owner has available.

DO NOT GO HERE! A 6 month old puppy died yesterday going in to get spayed. Too much anesthesia then tried to reverse it and she passed. Read all the reviews - especially the low rated ones!

I took my cat in on a Saturday. Because it wasn’t regular hours they told me that I would have to leave her there and couldn’t stay with her; she was there for 11 hours.
When I picked her up she was soaked in her own urine, her crate and towels were soaked in urine, and was in a state of panic. She was kept in her crate the whole day and was not given food, water or a litter box. It cost me $800 in tests and the vet told me he didn’t know what was wrong and to bring her back in a week.
The following Monday I called the clinic to talk to the manager about the way my cat was treated while in their care. The manager didn’t reply to my calls until I repeatedly left messages. Two weeks later I was able to speak to the manager and she guaranteed me that the vet would call me to discuss the ongoing symptoms my cat was experiencing. Needless to say, the vet never called back.
So for $800 I got no answers to what was wrong, a cat in far worse shape than before the visit, and no treatment plan. I will not be returning to this clinic.

My cat recently gave birth to kittens and I came in to check on her and she was lethargic and panting, her eyes were dilated and she was shaking. It was around 10: 30pm at this time and I called the vet clinic to see what I should do. The receptionist was very attentive and We both agreed to bring her and babies in. After she was brought out they let me know that she was okay and what her physical exam and ultrasound results were. They also even tested babies too! I was extremely happy with the care my kitty and her babies received and How compassionate, attentive and helpful the staff were during our time of need. I even received some information on how I can help my cat with her first litter. I will definitely come back. Thank you so much for everything!

The conversation I received regarding my sick elderly dog was devoid of compassion, empathy, was very judgemental. I relied on the medical expertise of the vet to provide the best medical solution to my pet in the absence of my knowledge pertaining to the pets medical status.

I was charged an exorbitant amount being $735 dollars for euthanization of a 10 pound animal. Their approach and attitude towards me was presented in my opinion in a very judgemental manner. A traumatic event turned into devastation.

In the future, if any of my animals require urgent care, I will drive to the United States if required to avoid any further interaction with this location.

Please do not reply that you are sorry for my experience, as I do not feel that sentiment to be sincere.

I had a terrible experience there. The vet didn't care about my dog's well being and wanted to risk him with an unnecessary test. I suspected it was risky and my vet confirmed it the next morning. And now it's been a year since my dog passed and they are so insensitive, they sent a happy birthday wish by email, when it's not even his birthday. Ayear ago, the vet didn't want to release the xray I paid for so that I could go to a different vet. I find it incredibly rude and unjustified. I strongly suggest people to avoid this clinic, even if it's at night, go somewhere else out of town.

Will not help old cats that can not travel. Not willing to come to house or do on phone conversation about animal. It’s an ear infection like come on, it’s a 16 year old animal.

My daughter's pet was ill and we called up to see if the vet would look after the animal.apparently the vet is allergic to rabbits and Guinea pigs. Does not make much sense having a vet that can't treat animal. Because of that aloan.

I'm giving this place a very low rating.

Veterinarians are supposed to be there to help your animal when you need them.not to give you excuses why they can't.

The animal has a life threatening respiratory disease she could have took a Benadryl.

Worst veterinary clinic.

Rescued a kitten who was malnourished and in very rough condition, said they would have a look when they can. Had the kitten for 6 hours did nothing because they were too busy with emergencies to take a look and charged me for holding the kitten who when returned, was covered in urine. Then asked for a simple allergy medication to get refilled because i didnt have time to run out of town to get it from my good vet. They said they would have it done in a few hours, and they would call me when it's ready. 4 hours goes by and nothing, so I call them and they say that it takes 24 hours to get a prescription made up and that they didn't get the email from my vet. Even tho they said they did and knew what the prescription was.sucks this is our only 24h clinic.

The vets here are all very knowledgeable and I will always be grateful to Dr. Thomas for saving our dog Max.

The vet tech was extremely helpful and kind was very sympathetic to the situation and tried her hardest to be accommodating for price. They wanted to charge us 2800$ to perform xray, blood work and a 24hr stay.thats not including the cost of any sort of treatment.its very sad there's no regulation or competing 24 hr vet clinic in lethbridge. You're left with no other option during weekends or after hours and I can only imagine how many people have refused treatment or help for their pet because this clinic prays on emotions at the cost of your savings account.

Never again. It's taken me a few years to come to terms with the anger. I saw pets have their hair clipped and surgery performed IN FRONT OF THE KENNELS. Afterward, when the blow drier was used it blew on the first rows of pets surrounding the table. The pets were traumatized to have their kennel facing the surgeries. This is a horrific place to take your pet.

Devastating the prices that are charged. I have a little 4 week old kitten dying of heart failure (a rescue, not mine) and the method of putting it to sleep is a needle to the liver. It takes all of 5 minutes to do and they would charge $700 so now I’m forced to sit here and watch this kitten in pain and suffering for something that would take them all of 5 minutes. So sad. Vets have every right to make money but this is capitalizing on pain and suffering. Just awful.

Brought my very injured cat that was ran over by an SUV and the first thing that was mentioned was it’s $300 to see the vet.

***24 emergency service advertised does not exist. They're telling us to take our pet to Calgary if it's an emergency. All other vets in the city we've called thus far (including our actual vet Green Acres) refer after hours emergency to this proper joke of an establishment.

Definitely not the best experience. Front desk girl was ver pleasant, only saw the Vet once. My dog had a minor procedure that required sedation, when I picked her up she was covered in her own urine, it was actually dripping off her. Whoever was taking care of her sure wasn’t doing their job, this was inhumane making an animal lay for who knows how long in their own urine! And the person responsible for her care didn’t even notice, he brought her out to us in that condition. The procedure went well which I am very thankful for but aftercare was very disappointing.

They way these guys price gouge and pressure sell is unethical in my opinion. I’ve (thought I) had to use them a few times for some emergency procedures on my pets in the past and every time have been just astounded at the prices they try to charge. Literally at least double what I ended up paying at the vet I ended up going to every time. And then if you question their prices they get so condescending and make it seem like you’re some sort of bad pet owner for delaying by going somewhere that actually charges reasonable prices. It’s crazy to me that these people can sleep at night. They quoted me almost $4000 this last go around, all in, and I ended up paying just over $1600 at the place I ended up going. There are other emergency options in Lethbridge, I do not recommend this vet clinic to my worst enemy.

Edit: they respond to this as you can see, like they are going to actually change something. Yet if you look back at their reputation, this kind of shady stuff has been happening for years now. Not really sure what they plan on changing.

I phoned to order my dogs eye drops on Monday. I was told 24 ho order them but they would try to rush them. I stopped by that evening and was told if they can’t get them in they would send them to a regular pharmacy. I had to call back as they did not let me know what they were doing. I spoke to a different person and she is telling me Wed or Thursday to get the eye drops in. She also is telling me she needs to check with a veterinarian about it. You can tell there is no note taking on the animal’s files. The customer service is terrible. Rude staff even if they are the incompetent ones. I would take your hard earned money elsewhere.

Excellent service and care, I had a student vet who went above and beyond, the front desk staff were so helpful, and handled my animals better than I could while I was in there. They always go above and beyond what you expect. The cost was fair and worth it. Highly recommend

Horrible! Do not take your pet there! My German Shepard was hit by car taken to vet by person who hit him. Vet put him to sleep when questioned the vet said " my dog was trying to die" years later took a cat late at night vet refused to open door twice cat got away outside of clinic. Took us over a week to find the cat who by then had his eye hanging out of socket. DONT TAKE YOUR PETS THERE!

We bring our rescue Sphynx down to Lethbridge all the way from NW Calgary, just to see Dr. Kate and the staff at Family Pet Hospital. Recently, he had a full dental, including multiple tooth extractions, and cleaning under anaesthetic. He healed up so quickly and cleanly, and has more energy than he's ever had, thanks to the precision job Dr. Kate did. She's incredibly skilled with dentals, and all aspects of kitty care. The clinic is filled with kind, wonderful staff, and we are so grateful for his amazing care. We would HIGHLY recommend a trip to see Dr. Kate and the staff at Family Pet Hospital:).

I have alot of animals and have seen a ton of vets. We brought my 8 year old dog in who was having seizures. I was quoted 250$ to do her blood work and was charge 189$ for an emergency vet visit plus 80$ for seizure medications. We took her home that night and started her medications. I was also quoted $500+ for euthanasia for a 32kg dog.

Then next morning my dog was extremely lethargic, so I called the vet from the town closest to our farm. Within 5 minutes I felt more confident in his abilities to help my dog. He explained that the drug prescribed was not a good one for a dog just developing seizures, and that the dose she was given was to high for her (yes an overdose) he also ran blood work on her, and came up with a plan to ween her off this medication and see how she does without it, and if the seizures continued, to get her on proper medication. Yesterday being a holiday, I was also charged an emergency exam fee.my total bill $189; blood work INCLUDED!
Out of curiosity, I asked how much euthanasia would be. With the cost of drugs, cremation and a box for the ashes. 340$

I'm extremely disappointed with Family pet hospital, who are clearly only interested in making money and not caring for their patients.

Never take your pet here! I needed emergency help for my cat a little while back that was hit and they could care less. My mother was just there with her dog and the way they treat customers is absolutely terrible, very rude and the lady with the red hair needs a SERIOUS attitude adjustment. Save yourself a headache and go to Green Acres in Lethbridge.

Paid 200 for them to do nothing but tell me my dog had a fever which we already knew. And to find any other information would require an insane amount of money. Would not recommend for emergencies.

Took my 22 month old dog in because he got some water in his lungs, they put him on oxygen and sedated him, they told me he was stable then called 2 hours later to say he was dead, it was all about money from the start, I would have sold my soul to pay for my dogs life, I was told years ago to avoid going to this place that they wouldn’t help bully breed dogs and as far as I’m concerned they proved that yesterday, I’ve seen dogs brought back to life after drowning, but my dog walked in and was dead 2 hours later, I would never advise anyone who loves their pet to go anywhere near this place, if I could give no star rating I would, I only wish I hadn’t gone there then my dog might have had a chance, please don’t trust them with your pets.

While out for a walk around 5: 30 this afternoon, our daughter's visiting chihuahua cross accidentally stepped on a porcupine quill, and it embedded in the pad of his little paw. The professional, kind.and empathetic service our little guy received was second to none! The problem was taken care of quickly, and within 15 minutes, Paco Sanchez was back in our arms and begging to go for another walk! Thank you so much to the doctors and staff at the Family Pet Hospital. Will recommend to all!

I send my little chihuahua cross down to Lethbridge fairly often to visit with his grandparents. A few weeks ago, I set up an emergency plan with the local vet hospital, just in case. Sure enough, yesterday he stepped on a porcupine quill at a local park. It was stuck in his little paw, and my parents rushed him to Family Pet hospital. They were so kind, and gentle with him, and within a few minutes he was back like nothing had happened! Great job to the kind staff, especially Lauren!

The staff were very good with my cat, who is not good with other people. The vet also took the time to recommend food for my cat to avoid the problems I took her in for. The staff are professional and friendly and their covid practises are safe.

I appreciated the kind and knowledgeable staff with an emergency situation. Clean and comfortable environment. Treatment plans are discussed and fees are presented helping you make informed decisions for your pet. Great service!

Shattered that you were unwilling to provide a humane euthanasization for our pet because the oncall vet was allergic? Watching our pet suffer shouldn't be an option when you are a PET HOSPITAL.

Years ago I was stressed because my cat had an accident and needed part of his tail amputated. After a couple of phone calls I was very upset because I couldn't afford what other clinics told me it would cost. Family Pet gave me the best price and Dr. Kate saved my pet - not to mention helped me to choose appropriate pet insurance for future needs. I think this facility has the best equipment and resources available in Lethbridge. I know some people complain about the cost of after hour services, but this is meant for emergencies. If at all possible, wait until regular hours to avoid needing to pay extra for accessing services after hours. I do appreciate knowing the option is there if absolutely necessary. Thank you, Family Pet Hospital, for all you do for our furry family members!

Kind, knowledgable Doctors. Have taken our dog and 1 cat here so far. Will not go anywhere else. Upfront about costs which are very reasonable considering the level of care and compassion given to animals and their people. We drive 40 minutes to go here even though we have 3 different vets within 5 minutes of our house.

Short review: Excellent 24 hour veterinarian services in southern Alberta. Kind and considerate staff who helped us say goodbye to our dog in the middle of the night.

Long review: In June my husband and I were camping with our dog in Writing on Stone Provincial Park. Our dog suddenly became very ill and we new we had to pack up and take her to the vets. We did not know where the closest 24 hr vet was and started driving towards Lethbridge.

We called on our way to the vet and described our dogs symptoms. They reassured us that we are doing the best thing by bringing her in. Over the phone they told us it might be GDV and if it was they could stabalize her and we could take her to Calgary for surgery if that is what we decided.

When we got to the Family Pet Hospital they greeted us right at the door. Our brave girl walked herself in and gave the staff a feeble wag as they greeted her. They immediately assessed her and told us that she did have GDV and that they couldn't do anything more for her.

Being the old girl that she was at 12 years old we knew we had to let her go. My husband and I were a complete mess but the vet staff helped us say goodbye. Afterwards, they even offered to let us stay in their parking lot with our VW bus. We asked for her ashes and they cremated her separately. They also sent us a card in the mail and let our vet office know of Lexie's passing. We drove back to Lethbridge for her ashes. They also did a paw print in clay for us but I have not had the time to go pick it up (it would be nice if you could mail these to out of town families).

Thank you Family Pet Hospital for making one of the worst days of my life manageable.
