1 star is too many. They are a very frustrating company to deal with. Took months for work to start and did minimal work when they did work. Contractor that they hired left a complete mess, did not clean up after themselves, and left my dishwasher disconnected. This was not rectified for multiple days and they refused to pay the after hours rate for the dishwasher to be reinstalled. Very unprofessional

I've never in my life had such shoddy work done in my house! The asbestos abatement team damaged my hardwood floors.the plumber left the toilet line leaking after removing it and damaged my laminate floors on another level.the drywallers didn't put up a vapor barrier on my ceiling in the bathroom.my bathroom vent fan was left venting into my attic.which was a easy fix after ripping the ceiling back out and re- using the drywall.i finally had to stop the work and do the rest myself! As for getting paid out for the damages? It wasn't enough to fix one of the floors. I'm not joking when I say my bathroom looked better after the fire than after these guys touched it. The lack of communications was unbelievable.half these guys had no clue what they were here for or what the other did. 3 months we had to live with no shower! Run from this company! These guys couldn't build a raft to save their lives! On a good note. Jen that works there was helpful to work with and Jordan Krafts roofing team were amazing.i should add yes they paid me for the damage but I ask is 2500.00 enough to refinish a worn (but now 10ft of WATER DAMAGED HARDWOOD) And the laminate floor on the other level? That wouldn't cover the work if I did it myself.thanks for nothing.i learned my lesson well

The worst contractors i have ever come across, if you are using them through insurance, avoid them at all costs. Extremely unprofessional.

I am grateful to Jared and his team for their support in a time of crisis when water damage was unexpectedly discovered in our new home.

Our experience with First General was excellent. When Jen took on the coordination of our water damage repair project, things clicked along very smoothly from beginning to end. She kept us well informed throughout each stage. All of the contractors were very courteous and respectful, on time, and their quality of work was excellent.

Had a significant flood and First General arrived quickly and started the restoration process. After the flood I had a couple of electrical problems that the Electricians handled quickly and professionally. Once the drywall and carpeting was replaced my basement was as good as new. All in all a first class job.

Top notch from start to finish. Christian was very thorough & professional, team Chris were oustanding with the installation, Tracey & her team were superior with move-out & in (so impressed) and cleanup. Last but definitely not least, Jen - so professional and kept me apprised every step of the way. Many thanks!

This company hires subs I am assuming for the lowest possible quotes to get the job it seems. Being in the trades for 40 years I have not seen such poor quality work. Their staff that cleared the area of furniture and decor are phenomenal. I am more than disappointed with the final product than one could imagine. Stay clear of this company

First General was great to deal with. They were prompt in their communication and the finished product was excellent.

This company is outstanding! We had sewer backup in the fall & they were recommended by our insurance company. They were quick & efficient with the initial cleanup (in 5 hours our entire basement was emptied & cleaned up). They then discovered asbestos in our older house & quickly dealt with that issue. Joe & Elle were quick to respond to any emails & calls. They had excellent recommendations & good companies for flooring, painting, & plumbing. All issues were dealt with professionally. I even had a recent plumbing issue (not related to the first claim) & immediately called them for their advice. They responded within minutes & actually came over within a couple hours to sort out the issue. They will definitely be our go-to company for any future work.

I did glance at the negative reviews & was quite surprised. Yes, our entire claim took a few months to complete, but it is a lengthy process with many puzzle pieces to put together. I was happy with how well they put the pieces together, & we are very satisfied with the final result!

I've had many clients use First General for emergency clean up and rebuild work on both insured and un-insured damages. They understand the process and need for communication with our clients. They respond quickly and provide great service. The owners are very involved in the company and always reachable if needed.

Great company, came in and saved the sale of our house, by finding the real issue that a home inspector wanted a $ 50,000 fix and we fixed it for $200.00 and sold our house. They are the only ones you want for any type of insurance work.

Excellent company. I had a bad mould problem in my garage and they got rid of it right away and followed up afterwards. Very impressed. Would highly recommend!

Great response time, excellent work, great communication with the project manager and access to the owners if we felt it was necessary which it wasn’t. First General understands how you feel when your basement is filled with water and you feel helpless, they take care of everything!

First General was great to work with after a neighbours garage fire damaged our garage and house. They walked me through each step, and started the clean-up process the same day. Work was done well and quickly. I highly recommend them.

Attention attention to all Homeowners. Stay away from this company. They are so bad and cheap. I used to work from this company and when I started working for them, I thought that they were a good company because insurance company uses them so I thought that they had a good reputation. Wrong. I found out that they where charging more money to the insurance company in order to keep more money. They use cheap materials and cheap labour. I was very unsatisfied to find out that all the jobs I did the customers remained unhappy as the contractors are so rude to the customers and there is no proper management or good customer services and I thought it was ridiculous that an insurance company would use such a bad company like these. If I could give 0 stars to this review I would but unfortunately I cannot do that. Please people don’t go with these guys. Stay away.

Excellent initial communication but once work started all communication ended. Subcontractors had no idea what the repairs were supposed to be. This resulted in several damaged areas just being ignored, other areas being repaired smaller and less fully than the original, no real understanding of how to prep oil based walls, tile work contract signed by me and the subcontractor later amended behind my back by First General. This tiny project was a gong show from day one. Half way through the project my insurance company offered to change from First General to another of there preferred contractors, I wish I had done so. The only part that worked out right was the electrical because the electrician called me directly, on his own initiative, asking for pictures and a description of the work before he showed up instead of relying on First General to tell him. I guess he's familiar with their poor planning.

Another example of a company that just focusses on their PPN contract with TD and forgets all about customer service. PPN contracts should be all about providing the best service to TD customers. Had a very disappointing experience with this company. They don’t even tend to follow the basic rules of providing information to their customer. I hope I never have another water leak and will under no circumstances use this company again

Great customer service from Ashley (Director of Operations). Very professional and helped me order replacement cabinet doors through a company that no longer exists in Calgary. So appreciate your efforts!
