Foothills Medical Centre Emergency Department

I really want to give 0 star to this place. Very dirty and unhygienic place. I could not imagine a hospital can be this much dirty. If you want to be sick come here, you can get sick here. Very rude staff and they are not care about patients.

Just walked into this hospital, and right away, the pathetic service was evident!

Pathetic. Got in at 10 PM it’s now 6: 20 AM still no doctor. Do better on your estimate. We got in estimate was 2 hours. Pathetic.

Rude staff, they rather chat about Mui Thai and giggle and gossip like high school girls instead of showing any form of urgency for all the people that need help. Also condescending and they’ll have one staff member tell you one thing just to be told the opposite later on. I watched a girl come in who fell and hit her head so bad that she couldn’t talk right and was vomiting for at least an hour and a half and she had to sit in that chair with no one to check on her for 6 damn hours.

Hey be polite and respectful when people call about information, we dont know you, we dont call to as you money, its our heatlh and our time andyou get pay for it

Worst workers in the emergency department that I have ever seen. You guys should not take money for your job. U guys only get paid to say I don’t know and the wait time is 10+ hours.
Very very bad staff. I would not even give u the 1 star.

The best care you can get in Calgary. Yes, it is difficult to manage the influx of people with minor problems. But if you have a real problem they are excellent. Shoutout the Neurology. Great people, I owe my life to them.

I suffered with very severe dizziness and nausea, and vomiting few times in the emergency waiting room. The waiting time is hopeless. After 7-8 hours waiting, I decided to go back home. At least I could lay down on the bed. I have got no treatment until I left. It is a really painful experience.

I am extremely happy that the EMS took me to Fotthills Hospital Emergency after my accident. I was treated promptly, with respect, patience and attention by the nurses, physicians and crew members. I cannot express in words how grateful I am to all of you that took care of me during my time at the Emergency room. Thank you so much all for your hard work and caring for me! I wish all the best.

It is terrible I waited for more than 5 hours eventhough I have a severe condition I have seen some people who arrived after me receiving medical attention there are many people talking and not much working I'm really dissatisfied and disappointed hopefully I won have to come back here if you can avoid this place

This ER does not seem to operate an effective triage system. Waited 6 hours to see a doctor and then she seemed unsure of how to approach my reason for the visit, and had to consult someone else. I left in the end and told them I would go private. The waiting room is extremely dirty, depressing and unappealing. Pretty disgusting. I wasn’t particularly impressed with the uncaring attitude of staff either. There was a woman crying and groaning, retching, in terrible agony there and they never brought her in before others who seemed less in pain. It certainly wasn’t a very nice environment to wait in. I would give this place zero if I could. The hospital in general is well overdue renovation and needs to be either pulled down for a rebuild or seriously modernized. I will never come here again. A horrible, horrible experience.

I Come to checking ER with some internal pain. Waiting time at 11pM 8 hours! Come back after 2 hours sitting. Do not willing to pay taxes and report all my income to government. Will use private clinics.

Nurses are exceptionally respectful to my mom and patient with her even though she does not speak English well, doctors were thorough and consulted the cardiologist and treated my mom’s heart failure ASAP

Had a great experience here! I got lucky that I hit a less busy time, but in general these folks are quite busy. Cut them some slack, maybe vote for a party that will help them instead of limiting their resources.

I went in at around 11pm with a broken arm and excruciating pain and I was pampered like a baby. I truly appreciate and look up to all the workers, nurses and doctors who work so hard even at such hours. While i completely understand and experienced the long wait time. It really how it is in Canada. I want to thank all of the people here with all my heart. Thank you, you have saved my life!

Day nurses don't get along. Triage staff don't listen to patients. Not really triage. More of a "I hate my job" atmosphere.

You think it’s the Doctor’s or Nurse’s fault you waited 4-10 hours?
Hospitals are underfunded and understaffed, the staff are overwhelmed and overworked!
They are doing their best to get you the help you need!
It’s called “Triage” for a reason!
Next time when you see a Doctor or a Nurse!
Look into their eyes and thank them for their service!
When you call 911!
It’s your “emergency”, for the 911 operator it’s a Job that they have trained to do, to the best of their ability!
They have been doing this all day and everyday.
You are being helped by a Trained Medical Professional who has been in medical school for several years and has missed many Thanksgiving and Christmas.
ER by the very definition of it is open 24/7.
Have faith in the people that serve us!
Donate blood or plasma if you can!
Become an organ donor if you can!
Volunteer at your local hospital if you can!
Have you done any of this to improve the society around you?

We elected these government leaders who hasn’t changed anything to our healthcare system for years! Talk to your local elected official!

Not sure how the treatment would have been. Emergencies always for just that, an emergency but this location is literally a life or death Emerg. Even with a broken arm and throwing up blood, people still have a five hour wait.

Absolutely the worst ER you could ever take someone. The triage nurse there (blonde bob hair, about 5’6”) had NO bedside manner and clearly doesn’t understand how healthCARE works. She spoke in a condescending tone to me and clearly didn’t understand the distress my sister was in. She made me cry in triage and would not listen to anything I had to say. Moreover, wait time was 7 hours. THATS NOT AN EMERGENCY. I left and went to Rockyview General and had a much better experience.

Wait time is 6 hours. Which is crazy. While the nurses and staffs are having fun and laughing inside doing nothing.

I'm sure the medical staff are either extremely overworked or non-existent, because we didn't get to see them after waiting for 6 hours.

The nurses were nice and I understand the wait times, but the doctor couldn't care less and told me they wouldn't operate based on him moving my knee around a little. I know I am just another injury to him, but this guy had zero interest. In the end, all they really did was tell me to go somewhere else, a sports injury clinic which told me almost immediately I would need surgery. Thanks Doc.

This review is for Dr. P and Nurse K from the ER. I recall both of your names but want to preserve confidentiality. Thank you for being kind and patient to my dad and myself today. Thank you Dr. P for going far above and beyond. You went out of your way to try to alleviate my dad's concern, the extra effort you put in means a lot to me. Thank you Nurse K who attended to my dad's concern as soon as he brought it up. It takes patience to deal with my dad and I and you had an abundance of it! Thank you guys both for still being kind and patient even when my dad (and perhaps myself as well) became a bit upset towards the end of his stay. (I wish we reciprocated your guy's kindness instead) I truly appreciate the effort you guys puth forth and cannot even begin to fathom the stressful situations that you guys are facing regularly. My dad should have taken your advice and he realizes this now. I think you guys are both a great representation of how hard working and dedicated health care professionals in this province and in this nation are. I truly and sincerely appreciate you guys, keep up the amazing work yo!

Went here 1am with severe stomach pain. The staff were rude, and clearly not in a hurry of any sort. The displayed time was 4 hours, and I waited there for over 6 hours before leaving because they started calling in people who showed up hours after me.

They saved my husband’s life. He came in on an ambulance and they immediately took him to CT, diagnosed a brainstem stroke and then quickly performed thrombectomy. My husband is now recovering very well. Thank you, Dr. Peters and team!
