It's a beautiful place to visit. Do not visit in the heat there's not enough places that provide a cool enough atmosphere. Fall or spring would be the best season to visit in, rides are fun with medicore wait times food stands are unique and good. I often end up overheating while I'm here, lots of walking. Family friendly but would not recommend visiting with young children.

For the first time since I've lived here in 2017, finally managed to make it out to fort Edmonton Park in order to participate in the Christmas market events.what an amazing place, that brings you back in time. Will definitely have to visit this place again during summer of 2024!
04 January 2024 14:04
Overall, an interesting park, especially for children. But there is also something for adults to see. Be prepared for the fact that you will have to walk a lot because the park is simply huge and it is impossible to explore it in a couple of hours. I really liked the town where there was a bakery, a pharmacy, a small corner with animals and a telephone exchange where you can call. Why 4 stars and not 5, because the problem with parking is catastrophically small for such a large park. Or you have to arrive very early to grab a seat or even be without a car.
16 December 2023 8:27
Very nice, the first time I visited.
But the problem doesn't updates the open hours 2 times I went thier and it is closed and last time today it was the open hours 12 pm to 4 pm at maps but doesn't open it and many people was there with thier kids in first day in winter break but all going sad.

I went to see “Dark”, what a great and scary experience. Absolutely recommend this adventure. If you dare…. Lol.
03 November 2023 4:22
Went for “Dark”, the lines were short and it wasn’t too scary for an 11 year old, it was definitely a cool environment for a haunted house
23 September 2023 6:47
Love the Park. I bought my seasons pass at the beginning of the year and I haven't missed a single day. I get my 10000 steps in, I get to de-stress, I get to transport myself to another time. Not sure what I will do in a few weeks when they close for the season. Fort Ed is good for the soul.
08 September 2023 5:19
Went to Where dark things dwell. Difficult to find where it is but it's super fun once you get there
29 August 2023 7:07
Very cool park, lots to do and see. A highlight of my stay in Edmonton. Unfortunately, they have limited hours and close at 5. Due to their limited hours, I didn’t have time to see everything.
14 January 2022 12:12
The interpreters at the Indigenous Peoples Experience were so willing to dig deeper in their answers to our questions. It made for a rich visit.
14 January 2022 2:15
Went here for Dark this year! I thought the Haunted Houses themselves were imaginative and a great time. However the 50-60 min wait time for each one of them only to walk through them in 10 mins was a huge let down. Especially when it’s very cold outside. For not only the cost of the entrance ticket, but also the food tickets, they should have let in approx. 200 less people, especially with the pandemic going on. There was absolutely no social distancing waiting in line to get in, which itself also took about 50 mins. I do appreciate that they checked immunization records however.

Overall, I thought it was a fun experience but would not do it again based on cost/wait time. Both were outrageous.
13 January 2022 6:38
The horse-cart ride was pretty good. Also, the indigenous experience was very good! Seems like most things are closed in shoulder season here, but maybe now that winter has arrived, then we'll see some more activity down here!
28 December 2021 18:58
A little expensive, but definitely a fun thing to do for the season!
Three haunted houses, a maze, games, food and drinks to purchase, fire pits set up to warm up.
14 December 2021 7:33
The new indigenous experience is amazing. There is a lot of info and it will take multiple vists to take it all in.
05 December 2021 17:06
1st time going after living here for so long. I cant wait to come back next year. You seriously shouldn't miss out on it. The staff stays in character and the work they put into their character is nothing short of amazing.
04 December 2021 2:01
I kinda like this store. The guy at self-service tonight was really great - great customer service from him. Keep it up
01 December 2021 20:40
It was pretty fun! Was here for the dark event. The little mini games like skee ball and carnival games were fun. The actors walking around were good to. The haunted houses are terribly scary but there are 3 so that's cool!
01 December 2021 13:10
I was doing some construction work here a few years back. It was a really neat place, even working there was a pleasure.
01 December 2021 10:43
DARK Edmonton Review: Attended on Thursday Oct 21st, 2021. The front security doors open at 6PM as advertised, but they fail to mention hat you are stuck waiting for the Main attraction gates to open until 7PM. I don't understand the logistics of standing there for over an hour. Why not just open the front door at 7PM? On another note, all 3 "haunted houses" had security in plain clothes standing in the rooms in plain view completely ruining the experience. There was maybe 2 things that you left saying "oh that was cool". Not scary at all unless you were 7-9 years old. Overpriced (drinks were essentially $9 bucks each), Food price changes randomly, very unorganized as a whole to be honest. I don't mean to compare different events but Deadmonton blows this out of the water! Save your money honestly.
27 November 2021 21:19
Dark and Fort Edmonton Park in general are great attractions- there is something for everyone. I love going to DARK every year. This year though I did find it a bit less interesting and less organized than previous years.

Love that they continue to put on events and have this attraction in Edmonton! In the summer, Fort Edmonton Park is so pretty too!
25 November 2021 17:00
Love fort Edmonton Park! So many great adventures and things to see. It's definitely an all day visit. We were there the entire day and didn't get to see everything we wanted!
Hate all the wasps though. Seems like a never ending problem! Other then that, fun times!
21 November 2021 12:35
Dark 2021 was a huge disappointment this year. Don't get me wrong we were very happy that dark came back in person this year however, I thought they would come back with a bang. This year there were way less actors which could've been due to Covid, however there seemed to be more security staff then actors in the haunts and their bright yellow vests and red batons directing you where to go really took from the creepy atmosphere they use to have.they could've at least dressed up or been hidden.they also crowded different groups together so you would see a scare well in advance of you getting up there leaving nothing to happen for your group except someone standing there looking at you not knowing what to do.the acting was done pretty poorly this year as well.food and drink were ridiculously expensive with the ticket system making you spend more money then you normally would if they just had tap and pay which is way less contact then tickets anyways. Half the park was closed off which also contributed to a lack of eerie Halloween feel without the old town.the event largely appeared to be focused on the big top with the Midway which was honestly the best part.we really enjoyed the Midway games. I really hope the downfalls this year were only due to Covid and this wont keep being repeated because we really use to love coming to Dark every year!
10 November 2021 1:46
Overall it was a great experience. My only issue was that several interactive exhibits were closed and there was no indication of this when we purchased tickets. Had we known, we may have picked a different day. What was open was great!
19 October 2021 12:34
Felt like Westworld with staff dressed up in period costumes and playing their parts! Oh, we had a great visit. So much to do for the family. Excellent value for the admission prices. Now, freeze all motor functions.
15 October 2021 5:02
We had an amazing time. Could have spent 3 days there to "have seen it all. "
There's so much to learn about Edmonton's history. It really is a great place to go. Just make sure you bring a water bottle, and a pair of good walking shoes.

If you do get the chance, you want to talk to as many of the in character staff to find out extra fun information details about the history of Fort Edmonton.

100% going back next year
12 October 2021 8:24
Visited the park on Saturday this past weekend and was extremely impressed with the renovations. The Indigenous Peoples Experience was really well done. You can tell from the new exhibit that a lot of consultation was done to make this a great experience. The staff working in the IPE building were friendly and eager to share information. The content was a lot to take in, I suggest taking your time going through the building and reading all of the information presented. As an Indigenous person, I was grateful to learn more of Edmonton's history. There was great content about Metis people as well - my family is very grateful for the work that was done to present this history.

The remainder of the park is always a great experience, we really enjoyed the fact that you no longer have to buy tickets for the carnival rides. All of this is included in your ticket, it makes the $95 Family Pass extremely well worth the price. There are a lot of bathrooms conveniently located throughout the park. Food and beverages are quite pricey, and the food is not the greatest, would suggest packing your own lunch! The adults in our group really enjoyed the fact that you can grab a beer and take it as you explore the park. Nobody was rowdy because of this, it made the experience a bit more enjoyable for the adults. When we visited, 90% of the buildings were open and the actors were very engaging. Had a great experience at the auto shop with an actor stopping to do some Edmonton headline facts - true or false with us! Kids really enjoyed this.
03 October 2021 22:45
A hidden gem, it's inspirational the hard work and effort that goes into making something this good. It has a real working steam train you can ride, enjoy the period fairground or ride the streetcars. There are multiple historical periods beautifuly done that you can go into with volunteers you can interact with. Honestly this place is truly excellent and it will be hard to enjoy the whole thing in one day. One price at the door and you can do almost all the attractions. I recommend season pass so your not rushed.
30 September 2021 1:02
It's different, awesome feeling, very good place to spend a day there. I would recommend to go with family and friends you will have lots of fun, take some snacks though you can buy there also and wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Try to arrive early so you will have enough time to enjoy, it's open till 5pm. I had great time and good memories.
24 September 2021 23:05
Absolutely loved it! You should definitely visit. I had several highlights. Went up and down the staircase twice! 200 counts each way. There's a beautiful bridge which stretches across the river, a nice trail, fresh air and a beautiful nature's walk. Your lungs will thank you for it. Thank me later! Enjoy!
23 September 2021 19:28
Was very relaxing being there as well as experiencing how people lived in the 18th century Edmonton, with exact replicas of houses, businesses and activities reflecting that period of history. Unique digital section showing history of the indigenous people in the area. Train ride showing scenic trails of the park. Good modern restaurant. I recommend this place, it makes me feel as if I'm outside of the city, yet I'm in the middle of it. Thanks
23 September 2021 17:43
If you're into Oldies but Goodies, you must come here. It is the perfect place to learn what was the life back in 1920s. Lots of parking space. Systematic in the ticketing, by buying it physically in front or online. You may start to lineup for the train early. Otherwise, you will wait forever. Old bars, restaurants, bank, post office, bakery, old houses. And the Fort Edmonton itself. The highlight for me is the Indigenous Centre. It suddenly stopped my heart from seeing the entirety of the place.

I highly suggest to turn an Avenue here in Edmonton named after EMMA ROWLAND AVENUE, PARK or BOULEVARD. As she is the Indigenous woman married to Kenneth MacDonald, where most Metis descendants come from.
22 September 2021 1:41
This place is gigantic. LOTS of things to do and our kids had a lot of fun at the amusement park there. I do wish things were a bit closer though. We couldnt manage to visit 1/3 of the site since we were in a rush, and different sections of the park were quite far away.

Good thing is that they had trams and a train going around
09 September 2021 9:21
Very intriguing look at the past.loved the antiques and the people in character.fun way to spend the afternoon petting animals, riding the rail car, park rides and the train all for the cost of admission was well worth it
04 September 2021 15:45
Great place for family. We had a total of 16 of us and we had a great time. There were 9 children ranging from 6 to 15. All had a good time. The Indigenous centre is amazing and extremely interesting, would definitely recommend a visit. Great place for all.
25 August 2021 14:38
Looks like an abandoned construction site with gavel, piles of debris, and large weeds growing everywhere, and stomped out grass in high traffic areas. Visited in Aug 2021. Paid $100 for family of 4 with kids aged 3 and 8. Found it to be poor value for the kids and adults. The park looks poorly finished outside the amusement carnival area. Hardly any info boards to describe the exhibits. Poor housekeeping evident everywhere. Fine if it was $50 and outside city limits, but considering this is inside the City out expectations were higher, and since it is newly renovated, our family did not think $100 was a fair deal.
25 August 2021 12:28
Great to see this place reopen with a new indigenous pavilion but it was not super little kid friendly as it was mostly reading. Would need to go again without the kids to get the full information posted inside. The door to the pavilion said no photos and no touching but I saw children climbing on the display canoe and people taking photos so I didn't quite understand what the rules were actually.
11 March 2021 20:42
Wilderness, great views of the North Saskatchewan river, beautiful, peaceful walk through the bridge
28 January 2021 7:05
Our family loves Fort Edmonton, especially the train and the horses. The animators are always fun and interact with the kids. My favorite place in Edmonton!
15 January 2021 11:34
Świetne miejsce gdzie można zobaczyć historię Edmonton. Świetny klimat. Polecam!

Great place to see Edmonton history. Great vibe. I recommend!
09 December 2020 12:32
This is a great place to expose young people to the conditions that our society once had, but is mostly devoid of today. If you enjoyed your experience, leave your own review!

Also, there is a haunted house here. Instagram: jasonvanjason587
24 November 2020 4:08
A stunning garden with so many different plants all expertly maintained.
Although Right now you need to buy your ticket ahead of time, since they are only letting in a limited number of people. Making it a peaceful experience.
02 October 2020 20:01
Been here several times every summer sometimes twice in a week kids loves to play, enjoy the train ride, the theater almost everything I should say. The staff are friendly and the place were clean. Looking forward to visit again once it opens.
03 February 2019 0:25
It's a fun place, great idea to take kids there to show them a rough idea of what things used to be like. The only problem I had is the churches were hosting weddings, which stopped us from being able to see them, not a huge deal but me and my friends were pretty disappointed.
26 January 2019 4:39
Nothing like it and I have fond memories of this place.one day I need to go back to edmonton to see the new stuff they are building
24 January 2019 22:36
As always the park was a great experience. This place is always a joy to experience. My 2yo daughter even loved the playground despite it being older than any other she has seen before.
20 January 2019 10:25
We planned our first Christmas party with FEP this year and the service was outstanding. Right from the quotation experience to the commitments from our private events coordinator, they were very thorough and informative. Would definitely recommend considering your private event here!
19 January 2019 3:56
Rich and diverse in history, the Fort is the prime historical attraction in Edmonton as it has reconstructed the city's history in a real playground that you can traverse easily. Buildings are stocked with informational signs or people dressed in period clothing happy to talk about the history and importance of the location, and the buildings are life-sized and explorable, although some are not. The food is alright, not amazing but the park functions more as a full-day attraction. It's best to go during a seasonal event or during the summer, when Fort Ed is running on high gear!
04 January 2019 12:10
Love this place for random date nights and so on. It reminds me of old school towns in BC and some in the US. It's nice that the community and city of Edmonton are invested in making this park even more than it already is.
18 December 2018 15:56
This place needs a bar! And to get ride of the illuminati exhibit that your children are learning about.freemason should not be here
26 November 2018 19:32
Fantastic place to visit in the summer! A great way to experience and live the way Edmonton did through the generations. Different decades and centuries of history to explore. I particularly enjoy stopping by the auto shop and looking at the old cars. The Capitol Theatre is a hit as well - They have a show that runs frequently outlining the experience of people in Edmonton which is really cool. Then of course there is the fort - hard to believe that people would have lived like that. Certainly makes you appreciate a lot of the modern amenities! And if all of that doesn't turn your crank at minimum it's a beautiful summer walk in the Edmonton river valley.
03 November 2018 18:49
I have yet to visit Fort Edmonton Park to tour it but I did attend a recent event called DARK. I was mildly disappointed with how the haunts went. It was not as scary as I would have hoped for. The Slaughter Pack had us go through in groups of 9 and then only the front people got the scares and no one else behind them. I know the other couple ahead of us told us they felt the same way. We went in A Taste of Eternity as the last 2 people before the actor break but it was a ghost town inside the haunt, they must have decided not to wait for the last 2 people to enjoy the haunt because I saw them on a break while we were moving though. Lastly, the Dead Wedding Haunt was my favorite because I got a couple scares and it was creepy. Overall I was still happy to have gone out with my husband and have a good night but unhappy with 2/3 haunts. I would rate DARK 2 out of 5.

Had nothing to do and no where to go this last weekend because being a long weekend and we hadn't booked anything we were hooped.
I've wanted to go to fort Edmonton Park and stay at the Selkirk Hotel for quite some time so me and my girl booked a room overnight.
We had no idea this was going to be the last weekend it was open for two years!
Checked in to the past as we entered the Selkirk.
Dropped off the luggage and went next door to the theater that was showing a short 20 min flick.
OMG not prepared for the experience at all.
It started with the young gentleman at the entrance tipping his hat (like in the old days) to all who we're going in, he was the best.
He explained what the flick was about and warned us of the experience. The immense sound and rumbling seats and the show was incredibly well thought out.
A definite must see
Then we briefly strolled through town before it closed at 5, took the trolly which was a great experience and headed to the hotel bar for a couple before we ate.
The bar is a recreation of the old old one that used to exist
It was very long and for the most part it was a stand up exept for six or so chairs against the wall.
Then one of the best parts of the weekend was how deserted the town was as we strolled through with our water bottles (spiked of course) and really got a good look at the history of Edmonton.
The place was truly a pleasure to visit.
We explored the entire park and the fort the next day when everything was open.
The ppl that dressed in old fashion spoke to oneanother in old days speech, they made the experience so much more real.
The boats on the river, the fort inside, the fiddler's and the rest which is too much to mention all were so realistically well though out.
The blacksmith showed a small crowd how a nail was made and I have it as a souvenir. Thank you sir.
Nailed that weekend and wont forget it.

Goodbye till next time Fort Edmonton Park
It was one of the best times my girl and I could have asked for. See you in two years!
Cheers!
24 October 2018 15:30
Do you to weather conditions Ft. Edm Park it is closed June 12/18, due to High-winds. Call 311 option 2 for more info.

It is best to see the park on weekends, due to more volunteers that are there.
The park has changed, strongly recommend to see the theater, pony rides, and exposition.

Highly recommend to Come in as early as possible, due to it takes a day (Maybe more) to view all the sites on the park.

Takes 2 days to go throughly the park and ask questions.
23 October 2018 22:30
I highly recommend Fort Edmonton Park. We had 2 adults and 9 year old and there was so much to see, it was a very enjoyable day. My son was fascinated with everything! We were all blown away with the Capitol theatre! We watched Northern Light- The Edmonton Journeyand it was a wonderful experience. The train was under maintenance though sadly.
21 October 2018 16:03
My husband and I had a great time at this park. The houses are very well preserved. Some of the actors are friendly and knowledgeable. Our only disappointment was with the food. Also, if you would like to take an antique picture make sure to go to the parlor as you arrive at the park (you can walk around while you wait for your turn). The lineup is long so if you go too late you might miss out.
19 October 2018 4:47
My family and I loved this attraction. It's a class act. The volunteers that help out at the park really make the park come alive. They give very friendly talks in a natural way about the era they depicting. I love how the park holds true to Edmonton and the time line of the park. Go bring your family and you will realize one day is not nearly enough and you will go again! Loved it! Easy 5 stars!
15 October 2018 18:39
Lots of historical goods and variety. Mini golf, Capitol theatre, fair and some farm animals to see. Nice to walk around. The only thing is some reenactment shops weren't open nor the train ride. Perhaps next year.
11 October 2018 3:46
My toddler kid got to ride on the mini horse this summer! He was so excited to have the experience. Although we didn't have the chance to take the train this summer, but street car was fun to ride too. However, the stroller was not be able to take with us on the street car and it was a little inconvenient for us.
10 October 2018 7:20
If you are into the early 1900s or late 1800s and you want to be reminded how much better we have it these days, then by all means go check it out. I went as part of a birthday and the only redeeming part of my visit was the bar. They serve Alley Kat at the bar, which is great (and why they get 2 stars) but the rest of the place made me appreciate living in the modern times. Probably better for kids, but this place felt like a chore to go through. It was hot and full of mosquitoes. Sometimes the past is best left in the past.
18 September 2018 16:25
Nice place. But I don't recommend coming at the end of the season as most of the summer students are heading back to school and a lot less interaction and empty buildings
16 September 2018 7:53
The park isn't what it was years ago they don't seem to be as committed to keeping the part in its former glory and it just didn't seem alive just wasn't the same but the people were nice and it was really cool to go back in time it's a great place to take Friends or family to explore all the old things that they have on show! And I would definitely recommend going!
