Kids had a blast very well organized. Lines were a bit long to see the animals. Other than that was alot of fun

Closes at 5 but shuts it's gates at 3 apparently and we got there at 4.it looked alright from the outside but other than that I couldn't tell. There were no notifications that I could tell that would make one aware of this. Rather disappointing.

Heritage Village was absolutely stunning, a true labour of love.
The buildings were beautifully preserved, as were the contents and the Village circles a central performance space which was utilised by musicians and DJ's for Canada Day festivities on our visit.
Each building had a designated theme and detailed who lived there. There was a rich abundance of clothing, furniture, weapons, tools, and household items from hundreds of years ago.
The bank was a particularly interesting building with historic equipment and price lists for commonly used items of the day.
There was a good balance of interactive and written displays. The language was succinct and to the point.
I mostly enjoyed the wonderful stories of the buildings' inhabitants encapsulated with the utmost respect and honour in the displays. The everyday people, the heroines fighting for land rights, the very first traders risking their lives for the development of the area. Each individual is crucial to the rising and longevity of a new world.
It brought the buildings to life in a much more meaningful way.
The gift shop had beautiful, hand crafted, locally sourced items. It certainly wasn't cheap by a long shot, but there were some lower priced items to suit everyone's budgets. There was ample parking too.
I would strongly recommend this place to adults visiting alone or to families with kids. I really feel they hit that balance perfectly in offering something for everyone. I shall definitely be returning.

Great staff, lovely atmosphere. Really love all the family/kid events that they have put on in the last couple years.

A great place to learn about Fort McMurray's heritage. The gift shop has improved tremendously with the new vendors they are bringing in.
On occasion, you will have the opportunity to meet their volunteers, many who are our city's senior citizens. The stories they share will make you laugh and creates an even better experience.

Was a bit shocked to see some of the new items on display. I always shop there, especially Christmas time, as it's my go-to place for local items and art from local Metis and Cree artists.
The phallic and profanity laced items on display, in my opinion, really take from the culture and respect that we should have for our local artists and shoppers (especially young shoppers). I'm not saying that it shouldn't be sold. It can be fun gifts, but is this the right setting to be selling it in. Especially when people are under the belief that it is a Heritage Shop, not an adults only shop. You should put a warning on the door for people who bring their children in.

I only visited the gift shop, the staff was friendly and helpful with finding specific items, and they took the time to carefully wrap the ornament I purchased to ensure it made it home safely. The Christmas shop room is a must visit during the holiday season, they have lots of customizable ornaments for every size of family and feature lots of amazing homemade ornaments and gifts as well, made by local crafters.

A must visit on your next stop to Fort Mcmurray. Check the gift shop! Full of amazing giftwares, lots are creation of local craffters, artisans and small home based businesses!

I can tell you that Fort McMurray Heritage Villagep is a museum and educational facility that is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history, culture, and people of the Fort McMurray community. This facility includes exhibits, displays, and interactive activities that allow visitors to learn about the past and experience a sense of what life was like in a different time in Fort McMurray.
