We recently tried Fortuna's row and absolutely loved it! The food was impeccable, service was attentive and inviting and the atmosphere was very warm. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a fine dining experience that promises to deliver!

Because of this restaurant, I’m calling Calgary a city.

All over North America, places that are labelled as cites come up so short with culinary culture. For example, I currently live in London, ON. Yes, there are definitely some great spots in this town. Awesome and unique bars, burger joints, pizza, etc… Any attempt at a “big city restaurant” however is an absolute disappointment. I always leave saying “Nice try, London”.

Fortuna’s Row though. You could transplant this restaurant to New York, Mexico City, Seattle, Tokyo. Nobody would ever suspect it came from Canadian cowboy country.

At first I though I had discovered a hidden gem on maps, but as soon as we walked in and saw how the place was totally full and booming with energy, well… not so hidden.

The location is very unsuspecting. Away from the heart of downtown and in what almost looks like an industrial building. These amazing spots often are.

My eyes immediately darted to the kitchen. It’s a proper chef’s kitchen no question about it. A very well thought out line with a head chef overseeing everyone else in an effort to make a collective unit of culinary mastery. The massive brick oven is a great piece to be so prominently displayed.

I feel like a jerk but I can’t remember our server’s name. He was fantastic. Informative, charming, switched on. I get the vibe that the staff enjoy working here.

Despite being packed to the gills, we never waited long to be checked up on or for the dishes themselves. Our drinks came very quickly.

We started with the salad and whatever the concoction used as a base is, it’s definitely working. Fantastic start.

Causa was next. I’d never seen it served like this (not that that means a damn thing) in a deconstructed way. It was another win.

For a main, we shared the Pato (arroz con pato). I liked that for such a swanky joint, they offered this. It’s a staple Peruvian dish and not considered anything fancy there. It was served with a traditional humble feel too. Even a fried egg thrown down in the middle because why the hell not.

If I have one criticism it’s the duck breast portion of the pato. Maybe a bit rare for the thickness of the cut. I don’t know. I hope the chef doesn’t read this and throw their phone yelling “that’s how it’s supposed to be you uncultured hick! ” That’s just my take.

This place was entirely a fantastic surprise find for dinner. There were so many other things on that menu I wanted to try and I absolutely will in time.

Thank you for a great dining experience and cannot wait to try it again.

The food was so amazing! My table had the duck, avocado, pork belly sliders, and lomo saltado. All delicious! Dessert was the standout. I would go back just for the dessert! My table had the tamale with pineapple caramel and the chocolate mousse. Food and service AMAZING.

Docking points due to the sound. Not a fan of the acoustics. It's very loud and hard to hear the conversation at your own table. I wish there was more soundproofing.

Great ambiance but the dishes were very underwhelming, not as well seasoned as we would’ve liked but it was still a good experience. From the dishes we had ordered just all taste similar, so nothing refreshing. To be honest for the price and taste We will not be dining again.

I visited here on a recent trip to Calgary and I can see with confidence this is the only place you need to visit in the city. The space, the food, the vibe, nothing compares.

One of my favorite spots in Calgary - the highlight is definitely the ambience and decor - very unique. The cocktails are very tasty and the meal items were quite good. The daily bread mixed with the prawns as well as the empanada are excellent meal items.

Great food. Very original and tasty. Good service. If they added a few beers on tap this place would be a solid 10

Perfect for big groups! Celebrated my birthday here and the chef's menu we had was amazing!

Great atmosphere and service, food was ok ~ we got the dinner set menu for 7 ($90/pp). Part of the set menu was a quesadilla, they gave us 2 hand size pieces to share between 7 people, which I was quite confused about because how are we suppose to split it? I’m not upset about the portions as other dishes were pretty decent sized, but I thought it was just very strange how we got 2 small pieces of a uncut quesadilla to share between 7 people…. Wish I took a picture

Went with a group of 6, service was a bit slow but cocktails & food were good. Would try again another time.

The ambiance of this restaurant is stunning. It has high ceilings, a lot of natural textures, plants and light. The dishes that we ordered were all very delicious as well.

The few issues that I had were that our server could have been better. When she was carrying over the tray she spilled my cocktail quite a bit, it was all over the glass and subsequently all over the table. She just joked that it was a really full. Would have been nice if she wiped off the glass rather then me having to do it. She also was very chatty, and couldn’t give very good explanations of the food other than, “it is so good”. I want some detail, is it Smokey, tangy, sour, “freaking good” doesn’t tell me a lot.

I also found the menu difficult to read, they said it is a sharing menu, but some items are and others are not. It would be nice if they said how many servings each dish was suitable for.

As for the food, the pork belly taco was outstanding, the meat was thick and juicy, sauce that was on top was a bit Smokey. We also got the pato and Pollo sharing places. The pollo was pretty good, however the Pato was outstanding. Every element of this dish had so much flavor that paired well with each other. The sweetness of the carrots and the herbaceous ness of the rice were an excellent paring. The duck was cooked very nicely.

Overall, I think the place has great potential, the food it great and so is the atmosphere. They just need to tighten up a bit in other areas.

Very cool setting with great food and great service. The staff were very accommodating as we brought our young daughter for an early meal. The food was great, and everyone left full. Highly recommended

Great brunch menu, everything was amazing from overall decor to plates and food and drinks.

Brunch Review: it was my first time at Fortuna’s row and I have to say I was completely astounded at how beautiful the entire restaurant was. The decor was beautifully inspired by Mexico, Colombia & Peru. The food was amazing as well. We ate the Papas Bravas to start, the potatoes were incredible. We then followed up with the Bandeja Paisa which had an amazing fried plantain and a crispy on the outside yet tender in the inside pork belly. We finished off with the ropa vieja which had this delicious yuca Frita, and the Chilaquiles which had a unique and fresh cheese on top of these really tasty chips. As a Latin person this food really hit the spot. Authentic & delicious.

Overall 10/10 this was an amazing experience top to bottom and I can’t wait to come back for dinner.

Cocktails are great. Food is sublime. Music is super interesting. Only thing I found was a little bit of a slow spot was timing. We visited on a saturday and were part of a group of six and found both food and drinks a little slow. It was packed so I get it, but that would be my only complaint. The restaurant itself is decorated like nothing else ive ever seen.

The cocktails are fantastic! Hard to go wrong no matter what you choose. The scene was pretty dead but the spot looked nice. Without a crowd, it's not really worth the price for a drink.

We had a fantastic meal with a group of seven. They offer a set meal for groups over four and it is a big recommendation! The cocktails were great as well as the restaurant itself.

Was recommended this place by someone we know. The atmosphere was really cool. They are located in the old Bookers location. When you walk in you are led through their cocktail bar area and into the back where it opens up into the restaurant. We sat at the chefs bar. Our server Elaine was great, she was super helpful with the menu and a real delight to interact with. The food is on the pricey side, however the shareable dishes are huge (highly recommend the duck). Overall this place has a really good vibe and is worth the experience.

We went for a family celebration meal and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the meal. We all ordered cocktails before the meal and everyone was thrilled with theirs. We then talked to our server, and with taking into account our family's many dietary restrictions, the chef put together a fantastic dinner of shareplates. Altogether a fantastic experience. The only downside is that the tables are close together, so it is not a very intimate dining experience.

Delicious starters and small share plates: lamb ribs, scallop, calabaza, tostada AND dessert - arroz con leche. Beautiful, large dining area, efficient service, great selection of wine by the glass!

As per other reviews, the beautiful decor and ambiance made up for our lacklustre, impersonal and slow service (did you forget about us?). Our food was delicious (YYC Food and Drink Experience) which makes me want to give it a second go. But liven the vibe up! It felt so serious and stuffy. Womp Womp.

Came here as a group of four for my birthday and it was fabulous! Beautiful restaurant, delicious and unique dishes, tasty cocktails. It was so fun to sample several of the snack and small sized plates. This place feels like a restaurant you’d find in a city like LA, so cool. We’ll be back!
