One of my favourite stores to go to because of all the international foods from all part of the world, and I like to try them all as they say if you don’t try something, you can criticize it where you find out if you like it or not, and the majority of FreshCo stuff that I buy I love it
First off I will let you know that I’m a indigenous woman. I’m also a registered nurse. I was followed around the store by 3 males pretending to shop but were obviously floor walkers looking for thieves. I know I was racially profiled and that is why they were targeting me. I do not steal nor do I look suspicious while I’m shopping. This store is nearby my house and so it’s convenient for me to go there but after this experience I’m not going to shop in there anymore. I would rather go further and shop at Safeway where I’m not treated like a thief. Shame on your team for making me feel this way! While you are watching me you probably missed out on the real shoplifting. Not all Indigenous people are scum. Some of us actually work and are successful. Check your stereotypical views!
Staff was too busy talking to each other instead of helping customers (Overstaffed but no one is working). I came across at least 10 staff members in one hour I spent there and not single one said hello/Hi including the lady in white shirt (manager?) who was pretending to train the staff. This store is not going to fare any better than Safeway (probably worse) Every item is overpriced (one example Lettuce is $5.99 here. Co Op and Superstore $2.99) Quality of dals (Legumes) is quite pathetic (Teja brand). There is no Deli. Better change/fire the manager and retrain the staff before it's too late! There are 3 stores close by who sell better produce at much cheaper rates.
The manager yells at customers, barely speaks English, empty boxes available but instead of respecting the customer and letting them know that some empty boxes are store display boxes, they yell and scream. Sad that Tariq claims to be the owner of the corporation as he is the Sobeys group associate. Hope the district manager talks and coaches the store.
This is a great spot to shop! Just don't forget your shopping bags! And their fresh meat section is great! I love being able to get reasonably priced marinated chicken.
I absolutely love the huge selection of ethnic foods (spices and others) from all over the world. A « go-to » store for halal food, a huge selection of Mediterranean teas, rices, jams spices, and other authentic products, directly from India, China; East Europe and other places. This store is not your average Sobey’s/Safeway, but a specialized ethnic store; where New Canadians will find food from the old country. It is mainly geared for the local Muslim and East Indian population of the area.
Read the fine print! Bought a bag of almonds.on sale big sign. 3.50 a bag, big bin full near the entrance in produce.at the cashier its 5 bucks.cashier tells me.thats 175 gram.that bag is 500, theres also 250 size.all mixed together same bin.who would guess.customer service then says.its your prob if you dont read the fine print.we dont care if we lose a customer. Earlier they had watermellon.same exact item, same item number on the tag.the "sale" bin by the door. 10 bucks, inside it was 3.97.and also mixed kinds same bin by the door, seeded and seedless.and two different prices if you didnt look close. So.buyer beware! Thats called deceptive marketing practises. Safeway owns Freshco apparently. But now that I know they are tricky and customer service dont seem to even care.thats the end of shopping there. Oddly enough also.press 7 for store manager.no answer.unavailable says the recording.press 2 customer service.they say they have no less than five store managers.five? FIVE managers to just run one store? Wow!
Avoid this store! Many products are priced wrong and not in the proper spots so when you arrive at the cashier many products are more expensive. You tell the cashier then the employees go to check and magically the tags are gone or replaced or they tell you you need to read the barcode on the label. Not my job. Customer service here is a frill so don’t expect any of it. Don’t waste your time here go to Superstore down the street.
Terrible store. They say their prices are lower, well I don’t see much difference comparing to other regular grocery stores prices. The produce area is not clean and the floors are filthy dirty and some of the produce is not fresh and the expiration dates are so close to expiring with most of their items, especially dairy and expired dates in produce. The staff who does the stocking are not helpful and look miserable being there and some are just standing around doing nothing. The owner of this store doesn’t know how to run this place at all. I will not be returning to this horrible place and will tell anyone I know to avoid this overprice joke of a store. I will continue shopping at Safeway. At least they are clean, and more organized and the staff are way more friendly. I wish Whitehorn Safeway never did close. I miss it so much!
Finally a store with wide selection of European foods! I used to go to small Italian, Polish stores, the prices there are unbelievably high. Fresco has the same products at friction of their price. Also great selection of ready to cook meats, and some prices are lower than Superstore or No Frills. They have products from all over the world. Polish, Ukrainian, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, and more. We only shop at Freshco now.
