We've been in a few times and absolutely love this store! The service at all counters, the atmosphere, and cleanliness is definitely a 5 star, thank you!
The ribs could use some BBQ sauce and the macaroni was so dry it was hard. I'll give it one more chance, but the store is awesome to grocery shop.
Update: I bought a pumpkin pie and Christmas cake, the pumpkin pie crust was stale and hard and the Christmas cake had a huge strand of hair baked into it. This store has gone downhill since the manager changed.
Had an extremely racist cashier stop my Black partner and I while we were leaving the store, and tell us she didn't believe we paid for our things. We had the proof of transaction in our phones (bank receipt) but she claimed she needed to talk to the cashier who helped us to confirm we weren't stealing. She did not once ask anyone else (majority White customers) leaving the store for proof of purchase. Just us. When we brought this up to the manager, he dismissed our claims and said that the cashier is East Indian so she can't be racist, and that he won't do anything else. This was a highly demeaning and unacceptable experience, and we will be advising everyone we know to refrain from shopping here. Unprofessional and overtly racist. Never returning.
Freson brothers is a big big supermarket! We also came to the store to have lunch. They have many, many sandwiches, grilled dishes and today was fish and chips Fridays. The salad bar has a big variety of salads and fixing. I tried the alberta steak sandwich. It is served over a sourdough bun. Very good value with the combo salad. There is a also a weekend brunch and seasonal all you can eats specials which will need to wait for another visit. The seating is self serve with self serve water and cutlerylies. Yum.
For general items the prices seem higher than competitors for sure. . So I just don't go there for that. They have hard to find items like shishito peppers. Their butcher is AWESOME. And their Bread section is chock FULL of fresh clean sourdough etc options for those of us who aren't fans of the preservative lists.
Don't even get me started on the gadget and naturalistic section.
Nowadays, I love to go there to have afternoon tea or coffee break with friends. Very good atmosphere and settings. Very relax environment. In addition, you can buy fresh meats, sometimes very good deals too.
I love the cinnamon buns there. I have gone there for lunch two times since her openning. The pizza was good and freshly baked. However, today,I went there for Cinnamon buns and sandwich again, I found out for the same price, the cinnamon buns were thinner and the tuna sandwich did not have much tuna in it. Very disappointing. I don't mind they charge more, rather than cutting down the quantity by so much. This can affect the overall taste of the food. This is much less enjoyable.
Usually get a pizza, one of the main reasons we drive out of our way, pizza we bought today was room temperature and doughy, had to struggle to get it off paper to put in oven, ended up with a mess.not impressed well i tried a month later after talking to an employee, turns out they dont sell frozen ones only room temperature, so you have to freeze them before taking out of plastic or you will make a mess.a lot of things should be mentioned on the box besides cooking time and temp, like the fact they say its ok to keep the black paper liner on bottom while cooking.okkkk
This store is just a pleasant experience. It has a huge variety of meats, vegetables, fruits and so much more.there displays are so inviting that you end up spending much longer in the store just to explore every cranny and nook. You would think because of that the prices would be higher but no. Truly wish ever store was put together like Freson Bros
Lots of gluten free selection at Freson Bros. It was great to see such an abundance of choices.
They also have a great butcher section. I was able to pick up chicken livers freshly packed in the meat department as opposed to packed frozen at other stores.
Came to do some shopping and stopped by the restaurant/bar for a drink, ended up staying for a few drinks thanks to their bartender Brenan! He was very nice and gave me great service, definitely recommend stopping by for a beer.
First time ever in a Freson store, impressive, unique bright and clean having said that, the bakery section is very poor, selection is forgettable and the stuff I bought for my coffee is also forgettable. Maybe some other parts of the store fare better but the bakery to put it plainly, sucks. Much improvement necessary to have me back.
Every time we go we always bring home something that's is very good. The prices are not cheap but. Never disappointed. I have to say we bought a pie. - very very good-
Hard call on the rating for this. There are many good things about this place. Restaurant is great, store layout is fantastic, staff is really good. Great location, many good things about this place. But the prices are ridiculous. For instance some chopped carrots were 9 bucks. Pretty much the same product, same amount is about 3.50 at Costco or 5 bucks at superstore. Their bakery is great, but is insane how expensive it is. At least they sell lube, and topical cream because you'll need one during and one after this shopping experience.
Great place, very clean atomosphere a better alternative to shop at rather than other big box chains. They truly care what they bring in and pick. Way better than other competitors. I recommended going here for all your grocery needs!
Amazing store. It's the best grocery store ever. And so much more than just a grocery store. They have everything. Best cinnamon buns in the city. The restaurant has great food. Amazing buffet on the weekends. And best of all the staff are always very friendly and helpful. I don't shop anywhere else.
WOW! I went in with a buddy after a round of golf to pick up some food to throw on the grill and was blown away. Fresen Bros south side is very clean and fresh looking with great staff and a plentiful selection of different products! I can’t put a finger on a favourite section in the store because it’s all so amazing. From the hot deli counter to the seafood and even the cheese section, all well stocked and priced.
I purchased 2 briskets when they had a sale on and I couldn’t believe the deals. I picked up 2 huge pieces for almost the price of 1 at any other store. I cooked one up for a Canada day gathering last weekend, the food was so delicious and for the cost it as even better. Also, the cheese selection is unreal, so many different types from an array of countries ready to invigorate your palate.
I highly recommend Fresen Bros, even if just for the quality of product you are purchasing. It’s a little more pricey than a value/chain grocery store, but, worth every penny!
July 01 four of us went for the fish& chip AYCE… the food was ok but not worth the price we paid. Coffee and water were included. Maybe if dessert or the salad bar came with the price then that would make it worth while.
Today I made a terrible choice by buying a cake from this store. I bought a cake thinking it's freshly made in store but the strawberries were frozen.don't kid your self it's made with fresh fruit and they don't even defrost there poor frozen fruit. $17.00 for half a cake, I must of been nuts thinking you could get something good at that price.
Everyone talks about food only, so what about service? I appreciate the store provide staff to help customers bag at cashier. But if a staff bags everything randomly into the bag, and fragile items (like cup cakes in clear plastic containers) gets damaged on the way. Who takes the responsibility? The CS staff would say this is customer’s fault not driving safely. What a good deal.
It looks like a high-end Grocery Store. Nice ambience country-style Store. They have different varieties of cheese. Bakery items are so good especially the cinnamon rolls. Quality of meats is good but pricey. Chicken is the cheapest. Most grocery items are pricey vs Walmart/Superstore. They have rewards points too! Staff are good looking/presentable/pleasant.
Some of the prices are higher than other grocery stores, but very clean an organized and have a lot for items you wouldn't find at a regular grocery store. Loved going here. People are friendly and love their meat selection.
Nice old-timey feel, great selection of products. If you have kids, you'll have a tough time getting them away from the candy section located at the front of the store. Overall great place to shop, very friendly staff.
I wish I could do 4.75 stars, as it's fine but it's missing a few types of items to make it the level it's trying to be. A nice store, new, good selection, just missing items that would make it a western Farm Boy kind of store.
Freson Bros. Is such an amazing shop, everything is decently priced and the cafeteria/deli is one of the best in Edmonton! Definitely recommend this place!
Grocery and fresh food mart that has a root cellar (where root vegetables are kept refrigerated), bakery, hot food area, and meat department carrying only local beef, pork, and poultry. Prices are competitive. Attractive looking place. Worth a visit.
Don’t understand what the hype is about. They are overpriced. Picked up a hot meal and it was tasteless and very expensive for what it was. Picked up a strawberry croissant and it was dead frozen in the middle still.
Great Food Market Windermere W Edmonton Bakery Fresh Baked Bread and Goods. Deli Sandwichs and Subs Home made Cinnimon Buns Fresh Products Fruits and Vegetables Meat Department B. B. Q.and Kitchen Supplies Eat In Take Out Fast Foods Selections { Vegan Food Choices } Restuarant - " Closed Covid 19 Restrictions". Market Open Monday to Sunday till 11: 00 P. M.
Amazing selection and fair, competitive prices! Our choices from the hot and ready section beyond exceeded our expectations, and actually tasted as good as home cooking. The vegetarian/vegan selection (and ease of finding it) was better than any other store I've seen. And on a balanced note the meat department was superb. It has a charming small town feel to it despite the size, but with a very fresh, modern twist. We'll definitely be regulars at this location.
Truly delightful. It feels a bit like a farmers market, a bit like main street Disneyland, albeit, of course, a grocery store. Great produce and good meats. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A bit expensive, but good for small trips in an enjoyable shopping atmosphere.
Store is beautiful and clean but prices are on the higher side for some things, biggest disappointment was coming home with a ready made pizza for dinner when the time came to cook opened the box and not sure how or why inside of plastic bag was full of liquid to the point where the dough was runny and stuck to bag, the cardboard it’s supposed to cook on was drenched, in to the garbage it goes, I don’t live that close so didn’t return it not worth the gas but extremely frustrating stuck last minute without dinner. Took my senior mother to get her out and go grocery shopping hope her pizza isn’t the same.
Previously all of my experiences here have been excellent. But tonight I asked them to make a pizza inside for me. After waiting 20 minutes I went to pick up my pizza and it was wrong. Instead of offering me a deal or a discount (and I asked) on the wrong pizza they made me wait an additional 20 minutes for them to remake the pizza.
I can’t recommend the pizza now, and it’s unlikely that I would ever use the service again now.
Freson Bros. Is not your typical grocery store. It’s upscale and designed for the customers that are looking for country feel with a unique experience. The ambiance is great. The produce section on the small side but contains some unique items. The bakery is awesome with their special sourdough bread and cinnamon rolls. The deli is great. The store caters to food on the go, with an in store Pizzeria and restaurant cafeteria. The prices are reasonable for the most part although pricey at times. You just need to be aware of sales and shop in the first day of the month for 15% off. I was already familiar with Freson Bros having shopped at their stores in Fort Saskatchewan and Stony Plain. For the first timer it could be overwhelming but I think it’s worth the experience. My wife and I enjoyed our experience here.
Have been to this place many times. Customer service has always been terrible, but the only reason we go back is because of the food. Unfortunately, our food today was inedible, the food tasted like left overs and seemed like it was warmed up from the day before.we didn't have time to go back but we phoned the manager of the store and he was extremely rude, offering nothing for us to bring us back. We won't be back to this place, go have lunch somewhere else!
This a clean, nice store with high quality items. I want this store to survive and I hope it does, but I have to be honest, the prices are a little high for me as a student but I understand that it is because of the local products and that is ok. Honestly, since I am on a budget I might shop Where the prices are a little cheaper for me, but I will still support this store for some items due to local products. I like the old school checkout turnstiles. It is a good store though, and I hope it survives. The store has quality items. Actually I must say that I appreciate the unique local products like these homemade baked potato balls that were super delicious.
I think it is actually ok to pay a little more to support our local growers etc.
Great market that promotes Alberta product but doesn't forget to carry international fare. The store layout works incredibly well by keeping the fresh/ perishables on the perimeter keeping the customers flowing. If you need to go down an aisle they are easily accessible. Produce and meats are exceptional but those cinnamon buns are to die for. Too bad I live in north edmonton otherwise this would be a regular stop
Great location! Clean, organized, and each department - deli, meat, bakery, take out are huge! Great selection of in store made products such as pizza, salads, sandwiches, freshly cooked prime rib and chicken, bread to name a few. Only disadvantage though many products are expensive compared to other store chains. Just need to watch your prices!
Love this store! Staff are really friendly, store is clean, items well organized. Also love the selection of local made goods. Most produce looked fresh. Was a bit disappointed with the cinnamon buns (had a hair in it) and strawberry torte cake we purchased but the other dessert looked good so will try those out next time.
It looks like a high end Grocery Store.
Absolutely fantastic store. Has everything you could need, in a carbon neutral package. Great smoked meat section and the fresh pizza is also delicious.
Beautiful new store. Very busy. Strange layout I had to keep going in circles ended up grabbing lots of stuff I didn't need. And forgot items I did need. Prices are a little higher but not crazy. Nice selection and friendly staff.
