Easter Monday. Lots of parking. Change areas Clean. Pool warm. Lazy river fun. Lots of mats for kids in water. Reasonable to take a family. Staff friendly. Not very busy! Other patrons very serious haha. Maybe Easter overload.
Greasier than mcdonalds, not so nice food court, food is not worth $10 a fries lol. - $20 to go swim in a pool with a single hottub & slide. West Ed Waterpark is $40 btw.
Been going here for 15 years now and I love it. Have never had an issue and I bring my daughter here to swim. I love the work out facility, it's my favorite. Only complaint I have is that I wish they cleaned the place better, particularly the women's change room at the pool. Sometimes it smells and the floors look dirty. Other than that I love Genesis place.
If you want 16 year old lifeguards power tripping and telling you how to parent your children and question/critique your children’s swimming abilities because apparently they know them better than you go here. When I told a lifeguard I was watching my child better than they were and am aware of their comfort in the water he got very short with me and then I could see him talking to all the other lifeguards and pointing at me. I smiled and waved every time I saw him doing it, very professional. The amount of rules is ridiculous and does not leave much room for doing anything fun or independent.
They wouldn’t even let My height appropriate child (who is 1/2 foot over the height requirement) go down the waterslide if I wasn’t standing at the bottom waiting for him. The pool is ok, was warm which was nice. Our first time here and will be our last.
Good place. Very busy but there is nothing they can do about that. The change rooms are disgusting. But other than that, an outstanding facility with nice staff
I love coming to the gym here and doing the bike. I would also recommend that genesis installs a wave pool as I feel that the community of Airdrie deserves one and would greatly benefit from it. The staff here are lovely especially tanner and riley. Thank you for the great experience everytime
Good for a nice swimmy swim. Wish the lockers were bigger and more hangers to hang stuff in the change room.my family has a lot of stuff! Overall good nice warm pools though. Keep up the good work ya hear.
Fantastic to be back after 6 months. This place really does have it all and the price you pay for all these services is unbelievable! Well done Airdrie! Highly recommended!
One of the best rec centers in the entire Calgary area. Massive pool and great gym.soccer fields, basketball courts and a couple hockey rinks. It's perfect for families.
Great facility, feels clean and well maintained. Love the aquatic sections with lots of options for adults and kids. My only issue which isn’t specific to only Genesis place is there isn’t enough lanes to accommodate swimmers and large classes and lessons. Sometimes the availability of public swim times are not convenient due to lessons as well.
Visited the aquatic center for parented swim class with my 11 month old and it was wonderful. The pool is beautiful, nice and warm. The splash pool and lazy river were super fun for both of us. The womens change room had plenty of room, the showers were very high pressure. The family change rooms were a bit too cramped and busy during the rush of the swim lessons.
The pool and the instructor we had for are babies first swim lesson where perfect. The instructor was friendly, fun and could tell she loved her job. The pool is a great temperature and lots of room. The reason for the 3 star rating is that in the family change room it is beyond cold. I did mention this everyday after are lesson to the lady up front, but nothing changed. I thought maybe it was just me thinking it was over cold in the change room, but alot of people I heard were mentioning it. 14 degrees in a change room when you have a toddler is just far to cold in my opinion.
Great venue for a football game. The Airdrie Irish won against the calgary wolfpack 77-32 and the fans were loving every minute of it. Awesome to see Airdrie rally around it's home team
Super disappointed with the lifeguards at the pool. Between the dirty looks that the very large female lifeguard gives out like candy and the very unknowledgeable and rude old woman at the front counter, I really wish there was another pool in Airdrie.
I go to life mark at Genesis for therapy and am thrilled to see how well the upkeep on the building is. Always clean and well maintained. The building staff as well as Lifemarks staff are the best in the industry.
A great facility with lots of different activities to partake in.when COVID restrictions are not hampering them. Genesis is so good and busy, Airdrie wants to build another one
Nice clean gym, can't wait to swim here again after COVID. Love the indoor soccer fields and basketball courts. My favourite part is the gymnastics club!
Lots of smiling faces here. I like genisis place for the cool interactive workout technology like the stairmaster and it has a vere large 3 part swimming pool with water slide. Also there a very nice commissary
I'm 71 with arthritis everywhere and swam for the first time since close down this a.m. Warm leisure pool, sparkling locker room and smiling staff made my day. Thank you thank you thank you.
I have mainly been using the fitness gym and it's very well equipped. There are free weights stations as well as machines. Treadmills and Ellipticals are adequate. The swimming pool is okay as well as the basketball courts. Overall, a very nice facility here in Airdrie.
I love Genesis place. I have spent so many hours there. My son has taken swimming lessons 3 times there and is now like a little fish. The toddler area is so much fun and the water is warm. I love the lazy river. It’s fun just to float around or go against the water for a little exercise.
There are so many activities to do at Genesis place. I have used their gym in the past and found it amazing. The staff is very knowledgeable if you have any questions.
Love the fitness facility at Genesis. Very spacious, tons of machines & free weights alike, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. My only gripe is that I wish it were open later on the weekends.
We've been going here for many years mostly for our kid's swim lessons. Last year we could not register the kids during times that worked for us so we ended up singing them up at the new YMCA in Rocky Ridge NW. We immediately realized that the swim levels were completely different there than the program at Genesis place. Our poor daughter who was only on Level 5 in Airdrie, swam with Level 5 students who were probably 2 or 3 levels higher than the Airdrie program. All in all, Genesis is a nice facility. Drop in fees is about $13 which gives you access to everything.
Excellent place to work out. Best childcare staff who take care of my little ones so well. Membership includes track, gym, pool and family activities. My toddler loves the family track time
Genesis Place just hosted the 2020 Alberta Winter Games. What an amazing place. Twin rinks, Field house with twin fields, Massive Gymnastics room and a huge aquatics facility. Separate pools for swimming laps, recreation swimming with a curly slide and even a hot tub. For the adults to soak away tired muscles. The place if you just want to relax in the pool or participate in organized sport. Dont forget the exercise area also to tone up if you wish.
Great place to take the kids swimming! Their family rate is very reasonable and staff are helpful and friendly. We live in the city and travel all the way to Airdrie just to go swimming.that says something!
I only use this location for indoor soccer and basketball. Soccer fields aren't the greatest in the city and the basketball courts are multi purpose floors which I hate.
I have been living in Airdrie for 4 years now. I took my family to Genesis for the first time yesterday to go swimming. I must say we had lots of fun. I really liked the variety of swimming pools. If you have kids even small toddlers and babies they have a pool for them. The only thing I have to say that is negative is the family change rooms. They only have a small amount of lockers directly in the walking path to the pool. This gets extremely congested as you have to wait because when people are putting there belongings in the lockers with the kids you cannot get to the pool until there done and the separate change rooms are always being used, so your doing allot of waiting to get into the pool area and waiting when you want to get you stuff to change. It’s not a good set up at all for the amount of families that come here. They should have went the extra mile on the family locker room.
Not a bad facility but needs better security as lockers are constantly broken into. They need a locker room attendant or at least someone patrolling the areas.
Love this place, the pool is warmer than NE leisure center, not as crowded, they have a slide, lazy river, swimming lessons, climbing rope and then you jump into the water, lane swimming, lifeguard and instructor courses. They have hockey, basketball, skating, badminton, rent a room, and lots more.
Excellent sports complex. Well maintained and full of activities everyday. Membership prices are reasonable. Annual passes allow for a temporary suspension when not in use which is a great feature.
Amazing facility. This was my first time here and I was working a hockey referee camp. The room was perfect, the facilities were exactly what we needed. The folks in Airdrie are lucky to have such a wonderful facility.
Clean, big and VERY BUSY. The pool was a zoo. Long lineups for the waterslides and the "lazy river" was packed with older kids hoarsing around. I guess thats the drawbacks of only having 1 rec centre in a town
My mind is still 25 yrs old, but my knees feel like they are 95 yrs old.which is why I finally dragged myself to the Genesis back in April of this year to take up swimming (or my version of swimming). I took the 30 day membership, as I wasn't sure I would be able to discipline and commit myself for the long haul. I really appreciate the ability to upgrade to a yearly pass anytime within that month - which is what I did.
I am NOT a morning person and I normally dread going to the gym, but I LOVE and look froward to going for my morning swim. I go at around 7 a.m. Because I don't have to expose too many people to seeing me in a bathing suit LOL. I like this time of day as it is peaceful and quiet with only a handful of charming and friendly seniors who I've taken a liking to. The pools and the shower areas are also generally CLEAN in the morning - which is very important to me. I hate the idea of overcrowded pools with people doing who knows what.
Like any establishment, there are friendly, happy staff, and there are staff who are just so-so. This, along with the chlorine levels which seem a little high at times, and the showers which are too hot or all over the place in terms of temperature sometimes, is why the rating is not a 5. Sorry, I can't speak about the rest of the facility.
Grateful to have this facility in my small but awesome city of Airdrie!
p.s. As our city continues to grow, I do see there will be a need for renos, upgrades and expansion.
My children have attended swimming lessons and we have hosted numerous birthday parties here. The customer service is almost always amazing with staff willing to help.
