I have a love hate with this space as when my mother suffered a stroke and at the hospital she was denied entry to the Glenrose. They would come unannounced and look at patients- i was told by nurses that they want people in and out quickly so they look like they are tops in their field- anyone needing more rehab time is denied.

My parents option was a town away from their city which my father would not be able to get to. Cut to endless changes made to bring her home only to have Glenrose reach out after many calls from family and referrals from doctors she was seen in endless appointments as an outpatient a year after of little to no rehab at home. The staff has been great but I always think how her rehab would have been if she was admitted and helped right after her release from hospital.

She is currently in a wheelchair not walking.

Knowledgeable, professional, caring staff. Their goal is to get patients back home and they do a great job at it.

To those who reads this comment,
I am 31 years old Deaf person, living a normal life without Cochlea Implant, and uses ASL (American Sign Language).

Please hear me out,

Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital medical workers are a hater and against of American Sign Language. THEY ARE SO WRONG ABOUT THAT.

As Deaf person here, used ASL, really communicate very well and understand things thanks to this - Canada's third official recognized language.

You, parents with Deaf child (ren), need resources of information about everything with Deaf child (ren). PLEASE contact with Edmonton Association of the Deaf. (DISCLAIMER: It is my personal recommendations without EAD involved).

They will provide you sources you need to know about what to do with your Deaf child.

It depends on you for the best of your child's future.

I recently read the notes from my autism assessment that was done as a child in 2007. I was repeatedly misdiagnosed with many things and spoken about horribly in the notes, and refused an autism diagnosis because “I’m friendly and I make eye contact. ” As an adult we now know that I have autism with moderate support needs, yet I suffered a lifetime of abuse, trauma and no accommodations because of this hospital. I’ve now had to pay a huge amount of money to get all of this straitened out. Do not go here for autism assessments!

While I enjoyed the care staff, and physiotherapy department. I was disappointed to learn, after having to leave due to a severe infection, that sent me to U.of A. Once recovered, I hoped I could return, as I felt I was doing well. Alas, no.

Haven't heard back from them as of yet and it's been over six months since my daughter's autism referral was sent and her disability is now getting out of hand.
