I wouldn’t come again. It’s not horrible but the noodles are soggy and there’s about 3 pieces of seafood in my seafood soup. Also ordered “fresh coconut juice” and got canned.
Used to order from here all the time, food quality and service has depleted terribly. Asked for “extra veggies” in our soups (extra $8) and this was what we got.
**Issue was resolved, as a full refund was provided. Thank you.
I have been ordering take out from Golden Bell for a few years now (preferably the 17 ave location as they tend to give a bigger portion than the Bridgeland location) and have always been pleased with their vermicelli boxes.
I usually get the super bowl vermicelli (74B) or the char-broiled pork, shredded pork, pork meatball, and spring roll vermicelli (64). There is a nice variety and amount of meats, which are tenderly cooked and always arrive still hot. The sauce that the super bowl meats are cooked in add a nice sweet (and perhaps mildly charred) flavor to the vermicelli so you do not just eat it with the fish sauce that it comes with. Spring rolls are crispy and have a good amount of pork/vermicelli/carrot. I definitely finish these bowls feeling quite full and for the price, is quite worth it!
A reliable place that I will keep coming back for my vermicelli bowls!
This might just be my new go to spot to eat dinner on 17th Ave! The food is so good and the staff are friendly. They have a lot of vegetarian options which I really appreciate! I always get the Stir Fry Vegetables With Tofu In Yellow Curry Sauce On Steamed Rice. The portions are pretty big and relatively affordable. For that meal it's around $17. I love that they have a vegetarian section on the menu, I wish more places did that. Overall I'll definitely be coming back here soon!:)
The food was really good. I got a mango bubble tea and some vermicelli with beef and spring rolls, but the service was so slow. Was waiting for over 20min before I went to go looking for someone to take our order. Only time we were talked to, really, until we were ready to pay and we had to get him to split the bill. The decor is nice, though. I'll be back but probably just for take out.
I highly recommend number 44 with chilli oil. The service at this place is overall impeccable. It has a very cute aesthetic. Very kind servers and customer service. The broth has a savoury flavour that stands out compared to other pho restaurants. Also, order their avocado bubble tea… There’s this one server and she makes it perfectly. If you get the chance, request her to make it!
It is really enjoyable, their bubble tea is really soft, perfect texture. I definitely recommend the 34, the bread is the perfect texture, the meat is well cooked and the sauce is amazing
Super yummy spring rolls. I chose the vegetarian one, really so good. And the Sate noodles is also highly recommended! Would be happy to dine in again!
I used to come here quite a bit several years ago. Not sure if owners have changed since then. I visited twice recently and found the service rude and unwelcoming. The portion sizes were pretty small for the price.
Great Food Great Service I didn’t expect such a taste here. Great broth, but kind of sweet. Great quality of meat, not too chewy and not to soft perfect texture. I highly recommend extra meat! Great service! Only two servers were there but they manage to handle everything!
I went on a pho binge not too long ago and this was one of the better ones in the downtown area. Most were too sweet but they had a more balanced broth. Good portion for the price you pay. My only gripe was the smell of the place, not sure from the furniture or freshly painted walls. Not enough for me to dock stars since it isn't a permanent thing (I hope)
Golden Bell has been one of the best Vietnamese options in Calgary for some time. That hasn't changed. They put a little extra care into every aspect of their dishes right down to the size and cut of the meat and vegetables. And the sauces aren't just " run of the mill" bland sauces you'll find in many Vietnamese joints, they are bursting with flavor. Every meal from here whether it be dinein, take out or delivery is fresh, flavorful, inspired and will get you out of your boring ordering take out rut.their sate beef soup is one of the best in the city with the broth so creamy and just the right amount of spice or try the chicken stir fry on crispy noodles or the salt and pepper seafood or or or anything. You won't be disappointed
Absolutely amazing service! I had a mix up with a courier service and was delivered the completely wrong food, so I talked with the courier and he attempted to tell me that it was the restaurant that mixed it up, so I spoke with the restaurant and they still had my food waiting for me, so the courier was wrong and didn't want to own up to it, so I was reimbursed for the total amount. The restaurant then proceeded to tell me that if I ordered through them again, they would make me a fresh batch, and call the courier service to get a courier to deliver ASAP. The food arrived and it was absolutely delicious and exactly what I ordered.
Would definitely order again. TLDR delicious food, best service.
Food was good. Pork was dry but still tasty. First server was not good but the manager stepped up and took good care of us after. No Alcohol served even tho it is on the menu
First time ordering from Golden Bell and ordered off Uber eats. I ordered the RARE beef pho. It came fully cooked. When I called, they said they half cook the beef, but I received it fully well done. Of course nothing was done about it. I probably wouldn’t advertise rare I’f it’s not going to be rare.what a waste of my money. If it is a health and safety issue, why can every other Vietnamese restaurant serve rare beef for takeout? Broth was bland and the noodles over cooked. I RARE-ly order in for myself so it’s so disappointing when you do, and the food ends up being awful. Way better Vietnamese restaurants out there.
Ordered some food and picked up Order was done promptly and was absolutely delicious I was so happy with the food, service and I choose 5 different dishes all were perfectly done Thanks for the great food Sheila Haire
Incredible service from manager Angie! She recommended and helped with changes to our order of pho that made the soup exactly what we wanted! Will be back!
Delicious food and kind staff. We order from them all the time. One time they forgot to include something in our order, they called and had someone for the restaurant come deliver the missing items immediately. Going the extra mile!
I just waited 40 mins for my takeout order of 5 subs and I am not mad the people who were on staff, but rather whoever is in charge that only scheduled two people to work. The place was busy. Dine-in, take out orders, and Skip/Uber/Doordash pick ups.
The two staff members were literally running back and forth from the kitchen to serve customers, take payments, give food, refills, etc.
The delivery drivers were understandably frustrated at having to wait so long but they were inexcusably rude to the servers. Shoving their phones into the one woman’s face as she was giving my my takeout and a quick apology for the wait.
Whoever is in charge should be on the receiving end of these frustrations. Those servers were very kind and were doing *literally* all they could with their FOUR hands combined.
I normally do not write reviews unless it’s very bad. The food I ordered was there hue beef noodle soup. Very disappointed with the food. First thing is that I waited 30 minutes for it, after the fact the noodles were over cooked and the beef itself was bland. I literally took a few bits and had to quit because it was that bad. Second thing is the service team keeps missing things were they shouldn’t be. It looked as if they were all chaotic when it wasn’t even busy. Very disappointed with this place.
Ordered peanut saute pho and the bag of bean sprouts was very rotten, a lot of slimey brown liquid in the bag, also the fish sauce for the spring rolls tasted very sour, decided to try the soup anyways just without the veg and a few bites made me feel very nauseous, they are serving old or unrefridgerated food.
Before restaurants shut down, my husband and I decided to check this place out since we heard good reviews. Soup was fairly meh and lacked a lot of flavour. Service also could have been friendlier. Don't think I'd return.
So, if you love cold delivery, use these guys. Uber eats driver left it on wrong street. Yum. Cold microwave Vietnamese. Can you ask for anything better. Oh, and paying for cold food is terrific. On a better note, the salad rolls were excellent.
I ordered a Bo Kho, yet it is usually thick and flavourful, the flavour I had is very watery and weak. It almost tastes like canh chua which is Vietnamese soup that is sour.
Worst experience ever! Ordered with Uber they cancelled when ready for delivery. Then we called to pay direct and get it delivered. They took 50minutes. Food was ice cold and forgot our drinks. Never order from here
We ordered through Uber eats and uncertain if Uber or restaurant canceled, but when called the restaurant they didn’t send there delivery person initially. And 1.5hours later offer to come for more than Uber price listed, after multiple prompts offered 20% off. They ensured would be hot after long delay, was very cold for all 4 meals. Then their own delivery person did not come with bubble tea that was ordered with meal, we asked not to pay for it until it came.never did. Needless to say will not be ordering again.
Horrible service. Order was placed through uber eats and canceled without reason by restaurant half an hour later. When we contacted the restaurant they informed us they had the order prepared and would get Uber to pick up or send their delivery driver. After a long wait our order had not arrived so we contacted them again and were informed the order hadn't been sent for delivery yet. They confirmed the order and assured us it would be warm and sent right away. Ultimately it took two hours to receive the order, it was cold and all drinks were missing. The restaurant never offered any discount or compensation for all of the errors or delays.
Ordered takeout of a beef satay pho and the shrimp salad rolls with the peanut dipping sauce.
The soup was average. Found it odd to have wilted lettuce in it instead of bean sprouts. Stingy on the amount of beef and low grade beef is used. Also, not very satay. Normally satay makes my nose run, this did not do that at all.
Salad rolls were uneventful, and the peanut sauce was almost watered down.
Ordering was easy, it was ready when I arrived and the service was pleasant.
Cost, high for the lack of quality.
Overall, I'm glad to have tried this restaurant as I've gone by many times. Just won't be returning as it was low quality (kind of like a McDonalds burger. It's a burger, just rushed and without the quality ingredients.)
This place was one of the best vietnamese restaurant in Calgary, the food was good and most important was decent priced. I just went for the first time after a month and they raised the price of every bowl not just $1.00 or $1.50 but $4.00 it's insane. I will never be going back to this place!
Not a fan of their broth, it taste like it was made using the dried dog bones you find at a pet store. Besides that their meat and noodles were pretty standard, I just cannot get over the taste of their broth. Will not be returning and would not recommend: (
