I have been a member for a few months, and I have to say that I am quite happy with this Gold's location. Even as an absolute newbie, I do not feel intimated at all. As it’s a huge gym, even when it is busy, the floor doesn’t feel crowded. It is bright, incredibly open and equipment seems decent. I initially met with the PT Manager who took the time to understand my short-term goals, addressed any questions I had, and hooked me up with my Personal Trainer Darrell. Both are fantastic to work with. Darrell was instrumental to building my confidence to work out in front of others even if my weight is light, helped me understand the logic of what I was doing, why things feel the way they do, and set me up on a path to success that I’ve never experienced in the past. Overall, my only regret is not coming in sooner as both gave me the advice, mentorship, and knowledge that I wish that I could have learned 20 years ago.

As far as my contract is concerned, I signed up for a year and it’s a standard contract where if you terminate the contact early, there is a financial penalty, but it’s nothing different from any other annual contract anywhere else.

Do yourself a favor and don’t Join them first they have a $203 cancellation fee if you decide to leave them before a year. Then they charged me additional $90 after because “company policies” worst of all I was not told any of this while joining them. The only way to dispute these charges is to contact them through email where they take days to reply and when they do they are straight up unhelpful if not rude.

Be very weary cautious of the Personal Training contracts. The manager did not print out the contract for reviews and was not sincere in letting me and my brother know that that any and all commitments are for 1 year. We were deceived into believing we were having a 1-month personal trainer trial contract only to be forced to pay out on a one year plan.

There is absolutely no communication pathway to reach their parent organization (ABC Fitness) for an escalation so you're left at the mercy of the same manager.

Plus even after a renegotiation and new contracts, the manger did not cancel the first contract and my CC got debited with over $1000 in 1 day based on the old contract.

Other than that, they have good equipment and very friendly front desk staff that are unable to help with anything else besides member clock-in.

PS: The only positive is the personal trainer, Breane, who is very professional in her duties.

The worse gym, management and associates!
No one cares about customers, all they care is money! They have the worst rules for cancellation that no one even explains to you when you sign in! I’m in the situation where I have to leave within few days unexpectedly, having my tickets and all the confirmations they make me to pay hundred $$$$ knowing that I’m leaving the city.

Rules are rules, that’s why there are exemptions and management who can assist customers to make sure that they are satisfied and will come back to your business at anytime and will suggest your business to their friends and family. But golds gym doesn’t care about anything!

No gyms in the city have such tricky rules as this gym! So disappointed!

Great gym experience 2 months in, only issue is lack of calf machines and abs area is meh, havnt had the pleasure of trying to cancel a contract tho

Booked a trial, with time and confirmation. Showed up on time, they said they don't take people on the weekend. They weren't very busy. Quite the audacity to tell you yes they confirmed for you to come at this time on the website, then refuse you when you arrive. Save yourself the frustrations, go somewhere where the business has some basic decency.

I saw a lot of reviews and you can already see how specific the problems are and how money hungry the owners in this Gold’s Gym. They charge you a lot and THE BEST PART is when you see a lot of people trying to sell their membership to transfer to other people bc the people who joined don’t want it anymore. MAJOR Red Flag! Beware guys before you get a membership here. If you’re joining 250$. If you miss a fee= Ur pretty much fked because they’ll charge you a lot of fees. I recommend searching them up properly rather than regretting and paying hundreds of dollars in a mere gym

Stay away from them. They pushed me to sign up for one year contract stating that I can cancel the contract with in 3 days. I came back next day to let them know that I want to cancel the contract due to location issue. At that moment they opened up about their policies of no refund. Moreover, when I submitted the request to cancel, I received an email about charging me $264 for cancelation.
Here is my concern, if I was told about no refund policy I would have never signed until I was sure about the location. I mean who is willing to pay 100 dollars for 3 days trial?

I'm very frustrated with Golds right now!
I have been told I have to start paying membership fee's in order to attend my remaining 15 sessions. The reason I was given, because I no longer pay training fee's, I paid these fees outright some time ago! Furthermore, I was Never told by Anyone that paying my training fee's out would be used as an excuse to charge me membership fee's down the road!
I was charged membership fee's in the summer however this was resolved with Dwayne. I told Dwayne that I've Never stepped foot in the gym outside of my training sessions, how is this fair?
Dwayne said he was not aware of this, fair enough, he had to speak to someone about this, I don't remember who it was. Dwayne contacted me later and said whoever he spoke to agreed it wasn't fair, fee's were stopped and Dwayne gave me 2 more training sessions for those fees.
Well, Dwayne is gone, so I guess that doesn't apply anymore. Furthermore, an employee, who was not present during this conversation with Dwayne has now come up with a completely different version. Apparently, Dwayne was only temporarily stopping the fee's " to do me a favour and give me a break" I was Never told this by Dwayne! This same employee has also made up a fabricated version of the day I joined golds in 2018, he didn't work there but I guess that doesn't matter. I joined golds because a trainer I had for a year at a different gym went over to golds, he was an amazing trainer. Short version, this employee made up some ridiculous story about my interaction with an employee who filled out the paperwork. I will not include the petulant and disgusting comments he made about the now ex employee, despite him saying he didn't know this employee but he's heard of him, I'll exclude the nasty little comment he made after that.
Update. This issue was resolved by Golds!
I won't take the rest of this review down only because it's not about Golds but the unprofessional behavior of the training manager! Thank you to Golds for resolving this!

You will get a ok workout depending on what time of day you come. Bright and early morning are the best because it’s empty and rarely anyone in your way. Noon - late evening don’t even bother you won’t be able to even break a sweat without having to wait long periods of time for a machine. Many machines are broken with cables lying around the floor. Many machines are being shifted around constantly which causes inconvenience for people getting around or someone using a machine next to theirs. Worst of all the gymnasium is very small and the guys that play their play as if their trying to make the league. Men’s locker room smells musty as hell a few more fans should do the trick. People don’t sanitize their machines before and after using a machine which is very arrogant and annoying. Parking is the worst of all.
Edit I visited this place again and wanted to show the weight racks. Employees usually just sit around on their phones and talk to clients instead of walking around a re racking dumbbells. I get that it’s the people who use the weights fault but this is just messy. Start to implement the rules with talking to them first and “saying these are the rules” or just start to hand out warnings

Was here yesterday. The lady at the front desk told me I can't train here because company policy says I must live in Alberta. Something with insurrance. I'm just here on vacation and every gym I have ever been to I filled in a paper that I train there at my own risk.

Location: country hills

I registered a complaint for sauna room not working for almost a month.
I ask everyday but they were not able to fix it. Today I asked Daniel, one of the employee at country hill location, he told me I was not allowed to use sauna, despite the fact that I am a gold member and it is clearly mentioned on the website that gold member has access to sauna. I showed him online about the benefits and asked to show me book in which all the packages are mentioned. He refused my request and told me gold members are not allowed. I asked for the manager and asked for the best time I can meet them, he refused again. One of the worst experience and location. They make sure to provide worst service possible and take the money for it.

This is the worst golds, walked today and there was a strong aroma of urine, The Mens locker is a disaster, Numerous doors ripped off and piled up in the corner, 2 large group of guys training together Sweating on benches then just walking away without wiping it down, these group of guys would also drop dumb bells and leave them on the floor …
This gold is 5 mins from my home and I not be going back to this location

Went there last weekend, great location. Very open and everything is spread out nicely.
Haven’t tried their pool lane/ hot tub or sauna yet but very easy to access it. It’s a big building but everything is easy to find.
Their trainer, Arzoo. I’ve know here for years. She’s helped me personally with knots, formations, how to do things right while exercising. She’s helped me with rehab and I can go to her for advice. She has delivered helpful knowledge anytime I’ve reached out for help. She’s an excellent trainer and very personable. She’s cares for her clients and patience. She’s got tone of experience in this field. She’s got her masters in physio therapy. The school in Sydney, Australia she attend is known for a great sports medical school. I highly recommend her for someone who wants to learn about human body. This trainer is very good at explaining and is willing to answer and challenge all her client to push themselves to be their best versions-

Please please do not sign up for this money grab. They breach privacy. A personal trainer (JOEL) cc’d all of us which is giving out personal information and is a breach of confidentiality and privacy. This place is a scam.
The trainers there pressure you so bad and then continue to harrass you.
Then they charge your card for charges that were never even discussed. It’s a gross place
Worst place is the worst ever.
So many better gyms out there, spend your money on locally owned gyms they are the way to go.
I don’t need a reply you guys can kick rocks lol.

I spoke to Shafique at the Country Hills Gold gym regarding signing up for a membership. Very impressed with his patience, honesty and knowledge. He went above and beyond to explain all the services they offer and I really liked that he did not intimidate or use pressure tactics to get me to join. The gym is great quality, I find it has lots of room to do any workout and the equipment is very nice almost brand new for all of it. Sochi and the other personal Trainers are great and help with learning how to perform you’re workout properly and safely while also pushing yourself to you’re limits

You have everything one could want in a gym as well as great equipment, great location and staff. After every session, I can literally feel the rush of endorphins. Thank you for holding me accountable, getting maximum results in minimal time at the gym, and making me feel great! I look forward to reaching our next target together.

Extremely messy, plates and dumbells are everywhere either on the floor or on the wrong spot. Watch your step, you might just trip on a dumbell. Tight and disorganized set up, the next machine over is within arm’s length. Defective cheap equipment - broken barbell racks, cables, cardio machines. No one wipes after use, and the wipes container was empty. Same goes for the women’s area. With the $200 joining fee, biweekly fees, and the gym improvement fee, you’d expect it would be well maintained. It is overpriced for such poor quality. I thought I’d give the gym a chance after working there years ago, but nothing has changed. Be careful with accounts, if you have any issues with billings, they take forever to get back to you. The star goes for Shafique at sales, he is a good guy.

Its by far one of my favourite places to train in YYC. Being a veteran of the sport with well over 15 years invested, one of the bigger challenges you face is finding suitable ways to get stimulated and I find this place does it all. From basic dumbells, to olympic platforms and other rec activities. Its truly a spectacle to train here

Customer handling/billing is handled very poorly, every time I’m coming into town from edmonton, I’m always pressured into getting a membership will be of no use to me as in my previous experience. I got membership (contract not month to month) which I was told that I can cancel with no cancellation charges as I stayed in Calgary for a month. What do you know almost $200 in cancellation charges. Shady business practices when they can be clear and direct

I can do my workout without worrying about my kids. They love Tanya. She is so sweet and patient. It is really good that Gold’s gym is offering a free child minding service for its members. However, women’s section needs more space and equipment such as mats, barbell pads, resistance bands etc. I always enjoy my time there anyway.

Love the gym vibes and variety of workouts you can do. The staff is incredible, super helpful and friendly. Highly recommended this gym. Make sure you ask for ANA and she will be more then happy to show you around, answer any questions you have and sign you up. I love that I can invite my friends to try the gym with me.

This gym is just another scam gym. It’s been months since I’ve cancelled my membership and I’m still being charged. No one will refund me and contacting cancellations is difficult as they won’t reply sometimes and you have to e-mail them twice for one reply. I still haven’t been refunded my money: (. Please don’t give them your CC number.

Got a little frustrated with golds because of recents payments taken out of my account. Last time I tried getting help I got told to email support but that’s not the solution I was hoping for. Today Diana at Douglasdasdale was able to explain everything clearly to me and gave me a small credit that took out my frustration and made me happy. Thank you!

Very bad customer service firstly they told you can use towels and steam bath in gold membership
but later they told me to pay 3 $ for towel not expected
its not about 3$ but they are not on their words
even i dont wannna rend them one star bur have no option
they should record their words
