Staff does not care. Some juiced guy harassed a woman here and hasn’t been banned from location (that I know of). Sad really. Would love to see retraining of staff. If this happened at my home gym, dude would not ever see the inside of the gym again.

Train your staff to deal with roid ragers. If he assaulted her, would your staff say it’s not their problem? Fire Lucy and get security. Absolutely unacceptable. I can’t believe I actually liked this company.

Excellent environment with very friendly staff and tons of space to accommodate your everyday training session. Noah has been especially helpful from day 1 and the rest of the staff is always greeting you with a smile on their face!

I’d say this is one of the most crowded Goodlife in Calgary, and I haven’t even been here during peak hours. Other than that it’s really good and has a great variety of machines and the people and staff here are really kind.

Brenan gave me some really great tips and suggested workouts for my knee, which I've been having trouble with even after physio. He was really nice, professional and personable - would be fantastic as a personal trainer!

Gym is really good with many variety machines. Only downside is the often broken machines which will get fixed pretty quick. Noah who works at this gym is very friendly and helpful with any questions you may ask; as are other employees.

Pretty good Gym. Front desk staff are generally good, helpful and professional, especially the regular front desk staff. I think the staff have improved over the last 2 years as far as keeping the men’s washroom cleaner. The interior upgrades this past year are appreciated for sure.

I would up my rating to 4 or 5 when I see staff wipe down the machines/equipment on a regular basis, because I never see that happen. I also highly suggest replacing most of the cardio machines.

You cannot have anything here, the internet is terrible, half the equipment is broke (they’ll take a good 6 months to fix it) it’s crowded as hell, the bars and ropes are ALWAYS missing, you pay $70/month. Just amazing, I’m waiting on LA fitness to come to Calgary and I’m outta here. TERRIBLE GYM!

As mentioned by others, the state of this facility is shabby at best. There has been anywhere from 6-10 pieces of equipment broken for the past couple of months with no end in sight. Many other machines are barely functioning or not very smooth to operate. There hasn’t been a new piece of equipment in what seems to be years. Two of the TV’s in the giant TV wall are broken and often the satellite signal is “lost” or unavailable.

The customer service is also terrible. Many times the front desk is not manned and you rarely ever see any employee going around cleaning or tidying up equipment. I have tried speaking to a front counter employee on numerous occasions over the past two weeks but they can never give an answer on when the equipment will be fixed. The last excuse I heard from them was that there is only one equipment technician for the entire city, and because Beacon Hill is a small club, they get serviced last. GoodLife is a multi million dollar corporation…hire more technicians!

The employees will often state there is nothing they can do and to speak to the manager. The problem is, the manager never seems to be around, especially in the evenings. My father and I have been waiting two weeks for the manager to contact us after we left our names but have never received a call. Why are we paying full price for a half functioning gym? The only reason I stay is because of proximity to my house, otherwise I would save my money and go elsewhere. They spent all this money painting the walls, but they can’t be bothered to update their equipment. Stop cheapening out GoodLife and get your club in order!

Nice facility. The only problem is that it is only 24/3 and not 24/7. Not good if you are a night owl.

This is a great gym for all of your needs. There is a lot of space and clean and modern equipment.

They do a great job of cleaning and maintainig the gym floor and the change rooms/wash rooms. There is an artificial turf area for sled push/pulls which is a nice addiiton.

Overall it is a great place to work out!

This location is usually packed during peak hours, but most of the time all of the equipment are available with little to no waiting time. This gym would be greater if it closed a bit later on weekends!

I’ve been to a few of the GoodLife locations around the NW area as well as Airdrie, and this location has the nicest and most helpful staff. This includes the front desk as well as the fitness class instructors. The change room is always clean and most machines are completely functional and not out of order. I decided I’m not going to be checking around other locations anymore and will stick with beacon hill.

- In case you are specifically looking to support local businesses with a history of ignoring public health measures and consistently turning a "blind eye" to massive non-compliance by patrons during the worst days of the pandemic, this particular club is exactly that and should make your list.
- If health and personal safety are important to you and you expect your provider to follow the current public health laws, safety mandates, and honor its own posted rules, be aware that people managing this location will be blind to ongoing violations and to continuous exposure of members to unsafe (and unlawful) activity of others, and will be completely deaf to any expressions of your concern.

Nothing but great experiences here. It’s my go to gym. Feel welcomed every time. Almost feels like family as every often greets me by name. Shout out to Noah for always being patient with my fitness questions.

Dogwater location. Good gym for those who go to the gym for 3 months in January and then take the rest of the year off, at least that's how they act and treat their clients. Stick to better goodlifes like deerfoot and northland

1 star because impossible to give zero star. This is undoubtedly the worst customer service I have ever received.
Save yourself the headache and find a different gym. The employees are very rude and dismissive even after they've made an error. I have only received a pleasant treatment once, and that was when I was setting up the membership.

I couldn't help but wonder if their attitude towards me had something to do with my appearance, because I'm black. This one girl today clearly knew how to be nice, because the way she interacted with her fellow white people was glaringly different from how she interacted with me.
Long story here if anyone cares to read.

When I initially set up the membership, the person who helped me was very nice but it all went downhill from there.
They set me up and were deducting the biweekly fees, only for me to receive an email about an outstanding payment; I called to confirm what the problem was and the person over the phone said it must've been an error that my account was fine. Then a week later, I go to workout and the lady at the front desk stops me to say there's a problem with my account which I found odd. I proceeded to reconfirm my account details and she said it was fixed only for me to receive yet another email a couple weeks later. I called again and tried to fix it and got the same response, that nothing was wrong.
Then a month later I get an email that my outstanding balance will be sent to collections. I called, the person over the phone said apparently the very first payment was never deducted but mind you, all the subsequent payments were being deducted so this was clearly their error. I had to go in person to fix it. I did.
Then I asked them to put a hold on my account, as I was traveling for a month. I return from my travel a month later, go to the gym and am told my membership is cancelled. This girl was super rude, didn't want to find out what the issue was and just passed me onto the sales associate who I had to wait 20 minutes to speak to. Sales associate comes out, and first thing he says to me is, he looked at my account and there were a bunch of emails sent to me about an amount owing, insinuating that that was the reason why my membership was cancelled. At that point, I explained the whole ordeal and the run around I had received while the other girl stood in the back rolling her eyes. At this point, I just told him not to worry about it and left.
Can't pay a gym over $30 every two weeks to receive a nasty attitude everytime I go there.

I sometimes go to this gym when my regular Goodlife gym is closed. I happened to be working out at this gym recently at a late hour on a Friday night and saw some free equipment in the personal training area. As I was using one of the machines, a Goodlife employee approached me (short hair, wears glasses) and told me I am not allowed to use the equipment in that area. The reason she gave was because personal trainers don't like it when people leave it messy. 2 days later I find that some front desk employee using the personal training area which at the time was occupied by other members not accompanied by a personal trainer. Best part was another front desk employee was casually chatting with the first employee and not a conversation to be had with the other members.

All I'm saying is if you are going to create a standard, don't be a hypocrite and be consistent. This is the reason I prefer not to come to this gym which has a terrible culture. Just my 2 cents.

This place is a scam! Froze membership from one & half year still they charged, told to refund but never refund. Online system is scam, you can’t cancel online & only accepts bank account for payment. Automatic unfrozen
However, they lied and for refund, Few months down the road they reactivated my membership without my knowledge and started taking money out of bank.
Watch out for these crooks.

Over all I don't have problem with the gym, but u r booked the class 3 days ahead and turned around bcoz there's no room is a bit un organized. Class number of capacity is way too much, and people just won't give u some space. Waste of driving to the gym. And we r still in middle of pandemic.shouldn't you have less people in one small room.

They keep taking out money from my bank and claim that it is because I have unbalanced account, I can literally see I got charged, the money is deducted from my account but they don’t care. I want to cancel my membership and the front desk said they need one month notice but they never tell me that, I called the front desk a month ago what they said is there was no other people can assist me. Why don’t the front desk tell me that I need to call early in order to cancel my membership? I still need to pay the money, this is ridiculous!

Juts started here 2 weeks ago.
It's a great gym. Except the cario machines are old like treadmill are really old and have lots of mileage on them. Should be replaced.
Deerfoot city has better equipment. Please try to keep upto date with your machines
Other than that it's great

Sarah Whiffinn is an amazing coach! I love her energy, she’s absolutely fantastic. She always knows how to encourage everyone. I go to her classes every Friday evening and Saturday morning. I really enjoy her classes. She definitely knows how to get you ready for a workout.

Time is your most precious gift. You only have a finite amount of it. At Goodlife Fitness we understand the value placed upon your time. On occasion, and for your convenience, we will schedule mandatory trainer meetings without adequate notice. You will be required to rebook your session, but you can now benefit from the free time that we have given you. No need to thank us.
Customer service is lacking and seems to play second fiddle to the almighty dollar. Spend your money elsewhere. 11/20/2019

Update #2: Just when you think the situation can't get any worse. After nearly a calendar month of getting the runaround from these guys, I was finally able to set up a schedule with a new trainer. I show up yesterday for my session and they (Goodlife) have rented out the private personal training area for 3 full days for a "private function". I already knew they didn't value my money, but boy, have they ever managed to cement that fact. I do feel sorry for all the other personal training clients that have paid a lot of money only to be put out by this situation. Unbelievable.

Update: Stay far away from this company! I am now on day 18 without any resolution to my personal training situation. The only word that I have received from Goodlife is that I am unable to cancel my contract under any circumstances. Hey Goodlife, if you refuse to release me from my contractual obligations, maybe you should consider following your own obligation- providing a trainer. You have one job which you are clearly not very good at. I wish nothing more than to be finished my dealings with your business. Clearly, the health and fitness of your clients is not priority #1.

Looking to take advantage of their personal training services? I strongly suggest that you look elsewhere. Unfortunately, my trainer of 5 months recently quit GoodLife. I have 13 sessions remaining on my contract and have been kept in limbo for 10 days and counting. After 2 visits, 2 phone calls and 3 emails later, no resolution has been offered. I find this completely unacceptable.

Cant wait for my year membership to end. Always packed, the platforms are terribly made, it always smells gross everywhere in the gym plus I've seen equipment with maintenance signs for months on a single piece of equipment without repair still to this day. As someone who's been through multiple gyms, the staff here act and look like they are running a bank not a gym. I was fortunate enough to not get scammed by there terrible deals they try and sell you into but I feel sad for those who do.

High ceilings, great light. The only problem is the sound selection in all units.
Clean environment but the washrooms need to be cleaned more often, the problem is not the workers it's the people who used the washrooms

Great well though out layout. Good staff. Clean locker room. Good focus on cardio, flexibility, functional fitness, weights and machines. Good schedule of classes. Open 24 hours most of the time. Very friendly and welcoming staff and atmosphere.

My fear of gyms was cemented by this place! The lady who signed my partner and I up was great and I felt super optimistic about coming despite my apprehensions. But once I came back to have my “free assessment with a trainer” or something along those lines. I had to cancel my membership and I will never come back.
The assessment went well, I was able to talk with the trainer and he gave me some tips and helped outline a plan. But then he talked me into signing up for a paid plan to train with him and I felt like I couldn’t say no. So I paid a few hundred dollars and left, saw my partner and cried because it wasn’t something I could really afford, so then came back shortly after.
Told the receptionist I felt pressured and I couldn’t really afford this training plan. She calls the trainer. I explain myself again and he tries to talk me into something cheaper and I say I really can’t right now. Supervisor comes along and I explain myself AGAIN, practically in tears with embarrassment, she also tries to talk me into the cheaper plans and I kept saying no. Then was told we needed to wait for a manager to process the refund. Waited for half an hour before the receptionist suggested I leave. I went home and called the GoodLife customer service line and they were able to refund me instantly, but I had to also cancel my membership. So I did. And I will never get another membership with this gym. You made me feel humiliated, pressured, and all around awful.

Just joined this September and really enjoy it here at Beacon Hill. I was assigned to a great trainer and the location is perfect for me. I find all the staff to be approachable, friendly and knowledgeable. The location is clean with a nice variety of equipment too. I look forward to 2019/2020 and the challenges to getting and staying fit with Goodlife's guidance!

This gym used to be decent, but has steadily been trending down over the past couple years. The equipment is falling apart and is the same vintage since they originally opened up. I would not become a member here for the state of art equipment if that's your jam.

The bathrooms are in ruff shape, dirty and aging (At one point there wasn't even panels in segments of the roof as result of the roof leaking and very poor air circulation).

They recently did some cosmetic upgrades to the gym IE paint, red lights and pictures, but that doesn't exactly address the failing equipment which is the main concern for people coming here.

This morning the staff forgot to show up for work and the gym never opened. I watched and sat with 100 people in their cars in the parking lot for 1 hour before I had to leave for work (the gym still wasn't open).

I am told there is no immediate plans to upgrade the equipment apart from trying to maintain what is currently there. Again it seems they have prioritized cosmetic upgrades over equipment which in my opinion was a very poor decision.

This is one of the better goodlife gym's where the facilities are clean, equipment are kept in functioning order and have friendly staff. Also RPM with Sharon and Denise in the am @ 8: 30 will really get your day started with an amazing workout!

This gym use to be amazing. The machines are run down and often a lot of out of order machines. The cleaners are always cleaning while people are working out which is irritating. I would definitely go to another gym if it were as conveniently located.

Went here for a couple years, great clean facility. It is safe and does not have a lot of locker room thefts. Despite the small size, it was still great to work out here. The people who go here are great, have never really had a toxic experience with another person in this gym. Staff are friendly and approachable. I do go to the ymca now because of friends who wanted me to go with them, but this gym will always hold a special place in my heart.

Machines maintenance is slow, staff should put more efforts regarding this as the gym is always busy. Showers need more care!
