Grande Prairie Public Library

It's a beautiful library, with very friendly staff, but lately they have allowed the teens in the teen corner to act out and be loud with no resprucussions. I have attempted multiple weeks in a row to simply read in a corner quietly, and screaming, swearing, and banging on keyboards keep me from focusing. I appreciate allowing computer access to teens is a good thing but there has to be a middle ground.

Edit* This review attempted to reconcile the bad expiriemnet with pleasantness of the staff but after today that's no longer true. While reading a personal book I brought from home a library worker took it and my notepad because she failed to notice they weren't gppl material. Which I find absurd because one is a notebook not even a book. If this employees mistakes were allowed to go any further before I noticed the library would have effectively stolen my personal book. Do not come here. Horrible staff, horrible atmosphere this place is a library in name only.

Friendly front desk staff - easy to get a library card. They explain all their services, policies, and online items.
Very open and specious areas. Lots of tables to sit at and corners to read.
Quite a few computers to use and a large childrens section upstairs.
Little pantry and in winter warm items for free.

Such a beautiful building and peaceful place. The new set up in the children’s area is very functional for toddlers and arranged so bigger kids can feel confident to explore. Recently, they have had a riddle to solve, that had my 7 year old poking around shelves she had before overlooked. The staff are always welcoming and I am so proud to have this safe and welcoming space in my community. Between exploring the art gallery and checking out the library, you can easily kill an afternoon alone or with kids.

Love going. Lots of fun programs for kids. Their library of things is helpful. I borrowed a sewing machine a while back to see if I found using a machine frustrating or if I should buy one. It was very helpful. We love taking the kids so we’re not always rereading the same books or constantly buying new books and running out of room. And we always enjoy going through the video games too for that same reason. I don’t want to spend $80 on a game and hate it. I actually almost did just that. The store didn’t have a copy so I borrowed it from the library to play and found I didn’t actually like the game.

It is the coolest library I have ever seen, it has everything, even a recreation area and video games. My respects

Decent - Great staff. Quick with the information. Do the intended duties. Small improvements could be made but not necessary.

Plant exchange night was great! Loved to hear that all the plants left at the end of the night go to the "Free Plant" library.

Beautiful building, great staff, excellent programs. This is one of my favourite places in the city.

Normally have a great experience with my kids there. This time Tuesday Dec 27, they were all rude. Told every one to leave early because they wanted to go home, when my kids asked for help looking for a book, they were ignored while the lady just sat amd played on her phone. Guess you can't always have a good day, but that was ridiculous
