The ER is ridiculous! When I arrived, I had to wait in a big lineup that was moving extraordinarily slowly. I only had a chance to see the triage nurse after 3 hours of standing and waiting. One man even collapsed while standing in that ridiculous line. I was told that it was going to take from 6-8 hours till I get seen, but it's been more than 16 hours since I got here. I arrived at 6 PM and now it's 11: 15 AM the next day, and I'm still waiting. I don't know if they're really testing my survival endurance or if they're waiting till I drop dead or faint. This is absolutely ridiculous. I do not recommend this hospital at all!
05 October 2023 8:49
Extremely long and slow line, and it took over 12 hours to be seen by nurses and doctors, but the best hospital I’ve attended.

All staff related to patients on an emotional level, and explained all they were doing.

All the sick patients were kind to each other. One young man dialed the phone on the wall for an Elderly lady, multiple times. Patients offered to help one another whenever it looked like they needed help.

This is the way we should all live, everyday!
25 September 2023 23:53
The triage here is the worst I have ever received from any hospital completely disrespectful and rude with no thoughts or cares for the well being of those entering the emergency room. Honestly shameful.
22 September 2023 16:38
Emergency:
*Extreme wait times despite online times
*Unclean
*Symptoms overlooked/dismissed
*Packed waiting rooms
* One triage nurse
*Patients stand, not sit, at triage
*Patients are told to go sit after triage only to be called to registration one minute later. Registration shouts out names from desk
*Respiratory virus illness patients not separated from others in waiting area nor rooms
*Patients lying on waiting room floor
*Dirty washrooms with cold water
*Minor injuries taking precedence over cardiology or stroke like symptoms
*Some waiting 7 hours to see a Dr, let alone testing results etc
*No pillows or blankets offered in rooms
*Nurses talking loudly and constantly in hallways discussing patient status and room info; swearing; referring to some female patients as "chick" in their conversations
*Patients left alone without attention/check-ins for hours at a time
*Impatiently and cooly telling patients to go back to waiting room to wait for pickups immediately after discharge
21 September 2023 6:44
Worst place in the world to be, takes so long to get seen with a overfilled room where people need to sit on the floor or stand.how is that sanitary or safe? And the room to sit in is tiny compared to the amount of people.
14 September 2023 3:50
Long wait times and the nurses have really bad attitudes when you’re trying to ask for help! Kids sitting there crying in pain and they don’t offer anything and make you wait all damn night!

What’s the point of even going? Better off calling an ambulance and going In that way
12 September 2023 12:14
Brought in at 12pm for a suicide have to wait till after 8am to see someone cause they have no therapist on staff, horrible hospital, horrible staff, don’t go here
11 September 2023 22:34
When you go for an emergency, it will take 6 to 8 hours to see a nurse or a doctor, which is painful but okay. But the more distressing is the behaviour of the staff, inhumane, no value for the human life. They treat you like they are doing some favour to you, they forget that they are getting paid from the common civilian’s hard-earned tax money.
16 August 2023 17:09
This hospital discriminates against me and my brother, not only did we wait for 8 hours, they didn’t even give us a bed to sleep in, well all of the white people had a bed to sleep, literally ever people who come after us. The stuff were mean as well.
22 July 2023 17:32
All the staff that helped me in emergency/triage were amazing last night (2: 00amJune3). All the nurses that took care of me were lovely friendly caring people. I have extreme fear of medical needles but they were able to keep me calm enough for blood work and an IV. If anything I owe them an apology for all the extra work they had to go through to get me comfortable and ready. It was a medical nightmare for me but the people doing there jobs really helped me to stay calm a did the best they could with a hysterical person. I’ve been to the other major hospitals in Edmonton before but this was by far my best experience with emergency/triage.
24 June 2023 10:05
Orthopaedics very nice and close to main door. Drs. Balyk and Leong talented and kind.
Parking not as good as it should be.
17 June 2023 23:11
I was at grey nuns coz I brought my husband to ER. I have to parked at the front coz it’s cheaper to park there since we’ve been waiting for over 2hrs already.
I went to the Information desk to ask where is the best way to get back to ER and the lady at the front (black long hair with eyeglasses) was not friendly at all and seems to be annoyed to be interrupted. No smile and just b**** face as she pointed me to the direction where to go.
She shouldn’t be at the front/ help desk with this attitude!

*Happened on April 26th, 7pm.
09 February 2023 8:37
I wrote a review before. But after last week I wanted to write a new one.

Firstly, almost all my experiences here were bad. But however last Thursday at 7 am. I actually had a very good experience.
To the triage nurse. I believe blonde and one black hair older ladies, you were amazing. Thank you for showing me such understanding and compassion when I was in pain and not shrugging it off. And for pushing my file ahead because you knew the pain I had was unbearable.
Thank you to the nurse who was assigned to me in the room who gave me the pain meds and letting me vent to you on why I’m so cautious about “newer” meds that I’m not familiar with and showing compassion.

Here’s where some of my problems are

The nurse with the glasses who is younger who gave me major attitude because you said I was text and then you gave 4 other people a room 5 minutes later and I said, you said I was next.
And gave me a rude response. Get some bedside manners. Did nursing school not teach you that?

I also was really confused why the dr would take me to the ambulance loading area for consultation and then send me back in the waiting room to wait for a bed? Should it not be wait for a bed then see a doctor. A place where I can lay down and you can do a proper exam

Why would you take blood in the waiting room? Why would you not wait until I’m in my hospital bed or room to take the blood? I was in my patient room for 3 hrs could have taken it then. It just doesn’t seem super sanitary.

Also as much as the dr did his best he was a little stand offish. He did his job. But very black and white and straight to the point. Not very chummy. I get it you’re tired. Which I understand. But trying to sound compassionate or friendly helps ease patients trust.

All in all. It was a better experience than previous times.
04 February 2023 4:56
The staff and management need to understand a meaning of emergency medical needs. I went to Emergency room with my wife. She is 19 weeks of pregnant and can’t stand and sit more than 5 minutes due to severe back pain and complications. They made us to wait 8 hrs at hospital. They need to give a first priority to kids, pregnant, and seniors.
10 January 2023 11:55
All the staff that work here seem to be working at their own pace. They have no sense of urgency what so ever. I understand there were some cut backs in healthcare but if they worked a bit faster, there would be less wait time. I couldn't wait to get out of emergency while I was waiting for my results so someone else could take my place. The waiting rooms are jam packed!
Everyone who works there seem friendly. If
they referred to patients as "patients " vs "my guy "or "that lady' would sound more professional.
08 January 2023 17:42
Had day surgery and the pre and Post surgery care and knowledge of what I was going though was Fantastic!
Could not have asked for more.
Even the call the next day from my Nurse practitioner was great!
04 January 2023 19:47
I had a great experience with my first delivery. I was scared about everything before but hospital staff is fantastic, kind and helpful. When my labour started I had no idea what to do but nurses took great care of me one nurse I want to mention her name is Karen she took over in second half and she was so so amazing my baby was born in her presence just a minute before her shift was ended. Everyone was so kind Doctors and nurses they took care of me like baby my husband was standing in corner. Only terrible thing was small benches for fathers to sleep.
01 January 2023 23:02
Hell no to this place. They don’t care even if a person is dying. After waiting for 4 hours in the emergency room, I asked the nurse how many patients are before me. She answered 9. After two hours, I asked again and she replied the same. My husband was not even able to digest water. He was standing at the first place in the waiting queue and the nurse completely ignored him for good 15 minutes. Then I asked the receptionist and told her to send us any help. I requested the nurse if they can help in anyway before we see the doctor. His reply was “I cannot help you in any way, We are not forcing you to come here”. I asked him your waiting time online is 2 hours. He said thats never correct. What is the point of showing online waiting times if they are never true? They really need to understand the meaning of emergency.
31 December 2022 9:50
If you have mental health problems, come here and the doctor in charge will fix you up real quick. Trussssst me. He knows what he is doing. Love this place. They care ️ Just be honest with them, all I gotta say.

Bunch of activities to keep your head occupied from the bad things.

Be HONEST, and you will get the help you deserve, all I gotta say. I suffered from anxiety and depression and now I truly feel as if I can face my fears. If this can happen to me, this can happen to you. Love this place, they care. Trust me.

26 December 2022 14:51
Rude nurse, when I first arrived, no one offered a mask as I didn't bring my own, knowing all hospitals have a policy to give fresh new ones when walking in. No direction or help when asked where the elavators are.
1st nurse, I saw once in the day surgery ward, was not very directive. She acted as if I should know what to do and where to go as if I'm there every day. I think she didn't give me standard care as we have a mutual aquaintance. She was very forgetful and unattentive. She eventually passed me off to someone else and they treated me as a pincushion as they just started doing IVs for day surgeries and "are out of practice" according to their fellow nurses and doctors had mentioned to me.

The surgery went very well over all Dr. Otto from Glen Sather Clinic was splendid and assured me everything would be ok, settling my nerves and answering all of my questions. He has a fantastic and calm precedence. The anesthesiologist Dr. Bucyk was very reassuring and informative her told me every step from the moment I get into the operating room. Very lovely treatment by my operating team all very welcoming and happy in the operating room as well.

Compliments to the aftercare team as well.

Not a terrible hospital, If you like people touting religion, when you're just there to have your surgery done.
They recite prayers over the intercom, and some of the posters on the walls are offensive to those of us who aren't Catholic.
I wish I had been at any other hospital in Edmonton or even Leduc with the same operating team. A choice I wish I knew I had when booking.
20 December 2022 9:07
Honestly, I have never really been to an emergency waiting until now. My mom doesn’t properly understand English so I decided to go with her so I could explain things in an uncomplicated way for her to understand. I thought people knew as much. Some people like my mom just need someone to be there, really believed it was common sense. There was no need for these triage workers to be humiliating us like that. Making faces when she doesn’t understand something and having an attitude of some sort like I truly do not understand what is going on in these places. I know some of these people work hard and you have to be immediate and straightforward and all that like I get that but aren’t hospitals supposed to be welcoming and suitable to everyone? Why treat people like that when we are going through stressful times? I know some patients that come there are rude to these workers as well, most of us understand that but regular people that come there like us who are just scared and seek help get the unnecessary thought of being unwanted there which is truly heartbreaking to me. Imagine being in a serious matter and someone is making fun of you for not understanding some things and genuinely not caring. Seriously like I am so disappointed at how these hospitals are working, I supported all these free healthcare and talked about it with people from different countries. It truly opened my eyes today, so never do I want to go back here or anywhere with similar situations. Anyways, to anyone reading this stay safe, you are loved by many, and you are wanted. I hope these similar situations don’t come your way. Have a blessed day!
30 October 2022 15:40
Waiting time was too much but the reason was due heavy rush. However once accepted the care was excellent inspite of the fact that there was acute shortage of Nurses and Doctors.
15 October 2022 17:09
Worst place a human can end up. After 5yrs of waiting we ended up leaving. I had a torn ACL, and sitting in a chair with my knee just dangling made the pain unbearable
18 September 2022 13:03
I don't even want to give them one star, the worst ER
Do not trust the AHS wait time estimate.wait time was 1: 40 but i was waiting for more than 4 hours.
13 September 2022 8:34
Literal worst place ever have more luck operating on yourself than going here. Waited 6 hours when they told be it was a 2 hour wait and when I asked they said there was 8 people in front of me. 16 more people went in that time. When I asked again they said another 7 people were in front of me. When I die from not getting care I fully plan my family to take legal actions
31 August 2022 5:34
I came today morning 10am, my health issue is dizzy and back of head pain. I am waiting all most more than six hours no one call. I went to ask front desk she said that you want to wait or go home. They treating very bad. Treatment all so. Any way my opinion wast of GREY NUNS Hospital.
31 August 2022 3:58
Staff is rude. Only judges you based on the your file. Nurses believe er they are better than the patients they’re treating. Continuous gossip about the patients there
21 August 2022 1:28
Triage is terribly set up. This isn’t the hospitals fault but a reflection of the current crisis in AB. They were turning people away. Low star for the admin/triage clerk while tired wasn’t listening to those who were talking to him.
09 August 2022 21:24
If you value your life or that of your loved ones, please do not come to this emergency room. I have never seen a worse emergency room. I have been here since 6 pm in excruciating pain, it’s 2 am. And I was given a medication after some blood being drawn. I didn’t get a single physical, mind you I am a women bleeding and should be seen by someone from Gyne. I only saw the emergency doctor who popped in and out.

The staff value their chitchat time with the EMS workers more than they do about the waiting room full of patients.
I have never seen more incompetent nurses in my life. The reported wait times on the AHS website is also absolutely fraudulent. The average wait time in this hospital is 10 hours for those who stay and there are many who discharge themselves when they see the nonsense happening.

Shame that this is where our tax dollars go.
09 August 2022 12:21
Avoid coming to emergency today, June 26th 2022. It’s 3: 19pm and they just started calling in people that arrived at 9: 30am. Current wait time according to staff is 8 hours, even for kids.
31 July 2022 16:32
The quality of the medical care that was provided was excellent. The personal well being was not taken into account at all. I have never come across such a large amount of miserable nurses like I have here! And they didn’t seem to care who knew or not. I was talked down to and treated as thou my intelligence had disappeared. I was in “Ward 43” palliative care.
While there I threw my neck out making my bed after a nurse refused to make it. I was told I wasn’t supposed to make my bed but after a bout of the night sweats, the nurse just threw the sheets on the bed after the bottom sheet had been put on and walked out!
I ended up straining my neck so badly and I was in so much pain I had to be fitted with a neck brace. I’m still using the neck brace to this day. I’m concerned what kind of treatment I’ll receive if I have to go back the Grey Nun’s because the nurses whom I will not name and damage their record, but they will definitely recognize me. It’s unfortunate I and others were so abused and no one except other patients. This abusive treatment has to be looked into and has to stop.
It’s sad.
09 June 2022 5:27
No all day parking.
Get ready to keep feeding the meter even if you're in emergency.
1 year old child went in with breathing problems, waited 7 hours and never got through.

Estimated wait time was 2 hours.
08 June 2022 3:45
1 doctor works in emergency during the night. Waited for 6 hours to see them, and eventually gave up. Not helpful, and a waste of time.
01 June 2022 1:47
Front line staff do the best they can in the ER but my god something has to give. I really feel the ER manager needs to step it up or get the right people to get a grip of the chaos. I don't want to come to the ER to come home with something else. Masks don't get changed on patients waiting 6+ hours in waiting room, no access to fresh water and both beverage vending machines don't dispense, there is literally no room left to put more people in the pink side but go ahead and keep stacking us up like sardines. You put someone who tests negative for covid with others who have those "symptoms". Well thanks! PUT US IN THE AMBULANCE BAY, A MAKESHIFT WAITING ROOM IN A TENT, ANYTHING. This was a catastrophic experience and I see why Healthcare staff are leaving in droves. What's the point when Covenant and AHS don't pick up their own feet?

I've never been one to advocate for privatized Healthcare but this experience had me shook. Clearly Covenant Health cannot manage.
08 May 2022 16:04
I have had to come to the hospital a few times since last year. Mostly with my grandparents. All the doctors are superb. The cardiologists, the ones in ER are so kind.they are quick and through with assessments. BUT I cannot seem to understand why the Triage nurses are so so so rude. So mean! The guy nurse is nice but the older lady and one wil long hair would roll their eyes or just pass remarks that so hurtful.
12 April 2022 7:35
I delivered my second on 23rd feb. With my frst one the experience was really great. Every RN was taking care But this time i had to call then they came. I met the one and only RN Brenda She was very dadicated to her job. She cares me as her own daughter. She bathe my boy. She is really nice. I met hannah over there i will not say she didn’t care. But she kept her back in everything she didn’t helped me for anything
09 April 2022 22:46
This is the worst hospital in the city. Do not go here. If your ambulance wants to take you here cause it’s closer, fight them on it.
04 April 2022 1:54
Years back this place was a 2 for me but in recent years its been better. Most ER doctors and nurses are very good - caring, and compassionate. (Of course, with every bunch there are a few bad apples. There is one doctor there who needs a different line of work.) The ER operates like a well-oiled military operation during COVID - everything they've done to segregate and isolate non-COVID from suspected COVID patients is obvious even to the untrained eye. What's sad about this old hospital is not the staff - it's the dated inefficient (and cramped) ER department that probably needs a complete overhaul. It just seems too small for the number of people it serves. With massive growth to the east and south, Millwoods area has practically tripled in size. One criticism I have of this (and most Alberta hospitals) is when people with non-emergent problems come in just so they can get their imaging and blood work done all at once. These same people complain very loudly about wait times, while being the reason wait times are as high as they are. People triaged very low should be sent to an adjoining medical clinic which all ER departments should have. People using the ER as a medi-clinic should not be taking up valuable beds that are needed for more critical patients. The problems with Grey Nuns hospital are systemic in nature and the fault of Alberta Health Services which seems to be swollen with excessive middle management, dated facilities, and too few front line workers. Add in a premier that hates doctors and nurses and you get what we have. Thanks to all of the front line staff who are not only working in a less than great system, but dealing with a brute of a Premier during a pandemic. Most of us out there appreciate you very very much. PS - this place is adjacent to a large field - yet a dozen parking spots for the entire ER? REALLY? C'mon.
26 March 2022 21:36
I had severe abdominal pain sat in the waiting room for 8 hours even though is was quoted a 1& 1/2 wait time. They gave no medical instructions. Mean while people with sprained wrists were getting pushed through.
I left the hospital went to another one in the north east.
First thing I was told at the new hospital was to not eat or drink because my symptoms were for appendicitis I seen a doctor within two hours and was sent out for ultrasound and had surgery later that day.
I do not recommend this hospital to anyone unless they have a sprain or broken bone.
24 February 2022 18:26
The hospital staff here lack everything you think a health care professional would have - they lack compassion, dignity, professionalism and so much more. We know someone who got admitted at this hospital and it was an absolute nightmare. Because of the COVID mandates we were not able to visit - which understandably so; but you would think that the staff would be more willing to give updates over the phone to alleviate some stresses and worries but they were not willing to do that whatsoever. I understand that we are in a pandemic and the staff may be tired and run down, but this is the lively hood of people in our lives that we love and they did not care or bother to give us the time of day. When we would call to ask for an update coincidently the nurse would be on their break every time we called, and when we got told we were speaking to the unit manager we asked for an update on the patient and they asked what we needed an update for. I was in absolute disbelief. When we asked what unit they were admitted to, we were told that they were discharged (which is not possible without us, the family, knowing) later, they apologized and said let us transfer you to. Meaning they are using any excuse they can to get rid of the person calling. I have lost all and any trust I had with this hospital because of this horrendous experience. If you can go to a different hospital, I recommend it.
17 January 2022 7:54
If you wanna feel like you MH issue dosnt even matter come to this place! Sat here for over four hours watched people needing two stitches in a finger that showed up ten mins ago get taken in. Mental health does not matter to these
People at all!
12 January 2022 4:34
Do not go to the psych ward, is very haunted; you will get cursed.

I have been here wont go again, my sleep was affected by spirits.
08 January 2022 23:54
My wife showed up to their ER after an episode with her suicidal thoughts/depression. They said they wouldn't be able to do anything because she had a counsellor lined up and the appointment was today. Thats great and whatnot but I had to stop yet another suicide attempt from her when we got home, so thanks guys.

There was a few people at the main entrance who were quick about helping me find her so I could pick her up, and they were great, but I I can't give even one more star because of the garbage experience we had. Definitely not an option to anyone with serious mental health concerns.
06 January 2022 21:53
The way you have I had to stay there for 2 days oh my god they don't care about your time!
like I accidently ate a nut granola bar and I'm allergic to all nuts and when the second day happened I ALMOST DIED CAUSE I COUND'NT BREATH!
so that is when they took me in to the emergency room an took care of me
06 December 2021 13:41
I was at Grey Nun’s Hospital for 2 weeks because of covid 1 week was in a coma in the ICU ward, and my only gripe with the hospital was that the staff where overworked, understaffed and looking after few dozen patients and some where working shift after shift. But other than that the staff were overall very understanding, helpful and kind there was the odd nurse that was taking their time but I never minded because I understood that there was covid restrictions and they had to do their job of wearing PPE. As for the the food from the time I started to regain my sense of taste and smell the food was a bit bland but filled you up until the next meal and I was even able to order take out when I was on my last couple days of Grey Nun’s Hospital. As for visitors they only allow a couple because of the restrictions so I’d advise using them for family members or close friends. Overall positive experience, the nurses are hard workers and very responsive when you press the cowbell for help and they move as fast as they can, as for the doctors they where very professional and even went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable some even had a sense of humour to boost moral. Keep doing gods work
05 December 2021 20:03
My husband has had a few visits to the emergency and I have nothing but gratitude to the staff there, especially the nurses! They were nothing but a god send and they need more appreciation and support. Thank you to everyone working there.
28 November 2021 8:24
My family doctor ordered a biopsy of my Thyroid gland after an anomaly showed up on a ultrasound.

I went here not knowing what to expect, but was warmly greeted by the nurses doctors and other staff.

Because of my neck structure, it took a 14 inch probe and two doctors with a ultrasound to find the gland. The only things I felt were some pressure and my right ear drum popping.

You folks are true professionals.
26 November 2021 12:07
Worst in terms of wait times and general staff attitude and behavior. Doctors and some nurses are good. Being heart patient with angioplasty and stent, came to emergency with chest pain and palpitations. Still in the waiting area after 2 hours. No body tells how more wait, although they tell chest pain patients get top priority. They don't walk the talk.
20 November 2021 13:50
While I enjoyed the nice, friendly & helpful staff, the linens could be cleaned a bit better. Don't enjoy anything spilled on my blanket, but not a bad place not all
05 November 2021 12:40
Came in at 12: 05!? Sitting for 5 hours now and counting, my mom developed rashes on her body and was told by 811 healthlink nurse to bring my mom to the emergency room within 4 hours, cause she might getting an allergic reaction to something, since she's taking pain medications.arrived at the emergency room stood for 30mins to get called by the triage nurse, got called and gave my mom's health card and ID then phone rang and she decided to answer it and left us there standing, then she told us to get back and stand back in the line, I told her my mom's getting an allergic reaction to something and her answer is she doesn't look like she's having a difficulty in breathing! How Unprofessional is tha, are they gonna wait for my mom to drop dead before they take it seriously? T! You should prioritize patients infront of you instead of answering phonecalls!

we got called back in line and she told us that her case is not an emergency! I told her the Nurse at 811 healthlink told us to bring her to the emergency room within 4hours! She cut me off while explaining to say "I don't care what the 811 nurse said" "She's not having difficulty in breathing if you want to wait, you'll have to wait overnight, I have people waiting since 4pm", wow nice way to discourage people to wait huh? !

811 told us to go to the ER and the ER says it's not an emergency and shrugs my mom's condition!

worst ER in Edmonton! Will never come back here and would just drive to UofA ER! Instead of dealing with Rude ER nurse here
29 October 2021 7:24
I was taken to the Grey Nuns yesterday in an ambulance for some breathing issues. The paramedics were amazing. The hospital staff I came in contact with were aril calm, professional and very kind. Sure I had to wait, not very long. I appreciate all medical professionals so much and I am so sorry and angry that they are dealing not only with Covid, but all the political garbage. Please know the majority of Albertans do care, and we see what you are going through. Please stay safe and sane.
17 October 2021 21:06
I understand the government is cutting back. The wait times are horrendous- Like really long! Good luck to those who end up here!
18 September 2021 9:17
I waited here for 17 hrs only to receive no treatment. Took 40 minutes to just get registered and signed into the emergency.
Was taken to the back of the emergency right away due to the condition. I was told repeatedly I was going to receive treatment soon. Only to find out after 16 hrs that it will be another 12 hrs or so. I ended up leaving and going to a different hospital.
22 April 2021 6:28
My wife had delivery early this year, I want to commend all the healthcare workers especially nurse Tiffany and Kassandra as well as Dr. Bow for doing a great job despite the pandemic. You truly are our heroes without capes. Thank you to all staff who take good care of us. - Jay & Roville
16 March 2021 14:21
We just had our first born at grey nuns and the maternity staff and infant icu are absolutely amazing. There are no words to express my gratitude. Thank you for taking care of my wife and my boy.
21 February 2021 0:14
Was told to go to the nearest emerg ASAP by my OB as my ultrasound showed I might have a Heterotopic pregnancy which is life threatening. Waited for over 2 hours only to be seen for less than 5 mins and be told they had never heard of my doctor and what she’s suggesting is very rare so I’m fine and should go home. Had to go to RAH before anyone took me seriously. Ill rather give birth in the car on my way to any other hospital than come here ever again.
11 February 2021 17:24
May of 2020 Leduc Community Hospital, EMS, Grey nuns emergency services, doctors, nurses, ccu unit, Colleen and staff and last but not least Dr. Gordon saved my life. I will never forget any of them and thank you for everything you do!
10 February 2021 23:27
Nadine is the nicest nurse we ever met in family ward (unit 33). She is extra polite and took extreme care of baby and mum.
Dr Mccubbin is very experienced gynaecologist and handled our case with full responsibility and care. She was really fast in doing c section. Fully satisfied

I had breathing problem while I was in my 7 th day of the covid. I called 911 and EMS team brought me in this hospital emergency ward. EMS team was awesome. I left in emergency ward more than 5 hrs, no one asked me anything. I had feeling hard time in breathing. Then a doctor came in my waiting room and said there is no bed. I said him just check me up and send home, I will take rest in home instead of waiting in chair. Then a nurse sent me in a room. ECG blood work and X-ray was done. No doctor check up, no one showed up. Then the same doctor told from the door that you can go home. He never asked what happened, where is pain and what time breathing difficulty. I realized it was not a problem of bed, I was ignored. Then I said him can I take taxi? Then same ward nurse laughed teasingly on me and said we don’t provide loudly. I felt untreated and regretted to call 911. I came home midnight.

My partner spent 4 days in Grey Nuns CCU at the beginning of November 2020. I was very impressed with the level of care, especially considering how busy this unit was. I can't imagine how stressful this job would be, especially during a pandemic. The staff are very selfless and put the patient's needs above their own. Thank you so much for everything!

This is at the entrace of main lobby where everyone is required to change their mask and sanitize their hand. I walked in to ask if this is the way to walk to the diagnostic department.my question was never answered by the nurse in yellow disposable gown. Instead, she asked me with high tone Why? Itold her I have an appointment, again she questioned me if I was registered. I told her I had an appointment. Well, again my question was not answered if this is the way to diagnostic department. I was asked to sanitize my hand and throw my own mask. I told her I need to call my husband to inform him that I m at the right place.as he was waiting outside in the car.she never listened to any of what I had to mention, she raised her voice and said you can't bring anyone, you have to go on your own.which I never intent to bring in.i have a todler in my car for my husband to look after. I ignored her and walked out and called my husband to say I'm in right place. I walked in and sanitize my hand.then again she scold me WEAR YOUR MASK? SANITIZE your hands, I told her back that she asked me to throw my mask, then she gave me a new mask. Her arrogance had completely occupied her head till she doesn't watch what is happening. Repeatedly asking me to sanitize my hand which i just did right infront of her. Pushing what she had to say but never LISTEN. The tone of her voice and body language is very much rude and unprofessional. After done with covid 19 exposure questions she asked me to check if I'm registered for diagnostic procedures. I just told her i had an appointments! Again listening issues with her. I walked to the patient information where a pleasant lady told me, yes I'm registered and guided me how to walk to the diagnostics department.
This is my first bad experience in this hospital. Assigning health care professionals with unpleasant attitude like the nurse in yellow gown, such a bad stigma to this hospital. Respecting every single person who walks into the organization is highly required.
I had visited emergency few times and the experience were awesome and the staffs, doctors were very professional.

This is the closest hospital to my house therefore the hospital I keep going to in emergent situations. I will not come back to this hospital after my experience here the last 2 weeks. I have been hemorrhaging for 2 weeks, the diagnosis has been "I don't know" this whole time whilst pushing medications in "hopes" it will work. Asking a nurse for a mesh pair of panties and wipes to go to the bathroom to clean myself up after bleeding all over the place. I got laughed at and asked "is that the new trend these days" until I stood up and she saw the amount of blood, didn't even apologize and walked away. I have never in my life had every ounce of dignity stripped from asking for mesh panties.

I always avoid going there. Always a bad experience. Nurses avoids you. I ve asked a nurse cup of water so I can my medicine it took them 40 minutes to bring me a cup when I could hear them outside of my room talking about what dress they will wear on wedding for 20 minutes.

I had a knee surgery at Grey Nuns a few weeks ago, and my experience was wonderful! The staff were very knowledgable and kind, and the facility was clean. I felt very taken care of, especially by my post op nurse Patti and the lovely nurse at patient pick up whose name I can't remember. They both went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable in such an uncomfortable situation. Thanks team!

I cannot say enough about the staff at this hospital. My husband was there for a short visit and the nurses all seemed to be very caring for him and he is 73 now and needs more care. God bless the doctors and all the staff as they do a great job.

I just had my baby here and it was the most humbling experience due to the absolute selflessness of the nurses and staff. I cannot believe the amazing treatment I was given in postpartum and honestly the nurses are angels sent by heaven. I don't know how anyone could ever give the labour and delivery ward or postpartum a bad review on here. The speed at which they attended every need. Just incredible. I am so honoured. Thank you to all the nurses who helped with me, my partner Jamie and Baby Dodger. Thanks to Dr. Laura Karis-Allen and Dr. Mcubbin. Just an excellent team. Every doctor was so attentive. I couldn't believe the speed at which they attended every need especially since how many other couples were there. I'll never know what they deal with in the run of a shift. This hospital needs more credit.

My Experience at The Grey Nuns Hospital unit 23 was very good. The staff were all very polite, quick, and knowledgeable about there field. When the nurses weren't tending to patients, they were offering out warm blankets and checking on others. I'm thankful to live in a place with such great healthcare.

Came in today 7 weeks pregnant. Low blood sugars. Can’t keep them up. 2.7 and dropping. The nurse at front told me to wait at triage. I did but only one nurse and taking forever meanwhile blood sugar still dropping. I asked the other nurse if there’s someone else that can triage me don’t want to pass out. She said have to wait. I tried to explain my situation she offered a wheelchair. I said no I just don’t want to pass out which is how I’m feeling. Then triage nurse wouldn’t help me unless I apologized. I didn’t do anything just asked for help. Now I bet if I had walked in and passed out I would have gotten help faster. The doctor and nurse have been nice while in a bed but still upset how I was treated when I’m worried about not only my own health and safety but also the safety of my baby. I live 5 minutes from nuns but I think I would rather deliver at RAH.

When you get admitted in this hospital, it seems they don’t mind you, and you’re not important. Er Doctor Mitzi Aisha has no care to us patients, “ you’re in severe pain she’ll just move you in anyway she wants “ and talk rudely. You will spend a night just to get IV and to wait what will be tomorrow’s plan.

Health care in canada is disgusting the wait time is unbearable the quality of services is horrible we pay a lot of taxes to get barely anything and we keep taking immigrants but we dont build more hospitals

Very horrible experience last night at grey nuns. I was brought in by ambulance due to chest pains, difficulty breathing, faintness and an irregular heart beat they put me in the admissions waiting room for 5 hours. No nurse checked on me or asked if I needed anything. (which would’ve been understandable if I was there for something minor, not my heart!)
They finally brought me to a room for an ecg and then shoved me into a cramped hallway with about 40 other people where I waited another hour. Still no answers.
They then had a nurse come and take my blood in the hallway along with taking the blood of the other patients in the same hallway.
Waited another 1-2 hours before the dr came and In front of the hall way of people talked to me about my situation and said doesn’t look like a heart attack you’ll need to see your doctor your free to go and ran off before even removing the IV from my hand that the ambulance had placed in.
So we had to track a nurse down to have it removed.
I will never go back to this hospital. So now I have an ambulance bill and still no results.

Found the staff quite good all around from the admin to the nurses to the doctors. The parking was plain crazy though. Not nearly enough spots, there was never a moment people were not circling the parking lot. I parked at a family member's house a few blocks away due to frustration.

2 stars is all they deserve most of the time the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. I've been dealing with them for over 30 years never really had a problem. But now it seems like the almighty dollar is the only thing on their minds. To be fair almost all of the nurses under 30 were good but all of the senior ones need to go back to school and get a refresher course on compassion and remember that they are not Dr's they need to realize that every patient has different needs and it is not up to them to make sometimes very critical decisions. Just got home and I am still very much upset and I will be taking my concerns to the next level and all the way to the top if I have to

Doctor paid no attention in an Emergency Room with little to no patients. Nurse was rude and stabbed the injection into my partner's arm like she's never done it before. I do not recommend this hospital for proper service

Went there for gallbladder removal. Sadly I was still slightly loopy after the surgery, so I could not remember the names of the nurses, but I wanted to express my gratitude and genuine thank you to every single one staff member that I ended up in care of today.
Everyone was absolutely amazing. The lovely nurses made me feel welcome and safe, making sure I had all I need, with absolutely no rush, being patient, understanding and caring.
I am feeling overwhelmed with how much genuine care and attention I was provided before and after the surgery in the recovery room and in the waiting room later.
I was monitored closely, and before going to the hospital I was incredibly nervous for it was my first ever surgery, and the one with general anaesthesia as well!
I am so thrilled with how nice everyone is, and just sending a huge thank you to everyone today, I could not have wished for better care and treatment than what I got today, it was absolutely lovely.
Thank you to every single person who made this experience painless and as little worrisome as possible. All the love <3

Unfortunately I have had the opportunity of dealing with this hospital for the last 10 days as my 90 year old mother had to be rushed it.
Lets start with emergency. Know it well, the staff there are pretty good but it is so crammed and unsanitary it is ridiculous.people lying all over the place in the hallway on stretchers. PLUS.at least 25 paramedics standing with people they have brought in for hours on end. WOuld be pretty simple to have a doctor roam the collector hallways instead of paying the paramedics to stand there.
The only good thing about emergency is NOTHING>>>>>of course, after waiting nearly 30 hours to be transferred to a room I can say that with 100% certainty.
THe rooms in the hospital are dated with a lot of non functioning equipment, it is what it is I suppose. HOWEVER they are also filthy, and when I commented to the heathcare aid who was helping my mom on her walks she said, she knows, and agrees with that. I asked her if she would let her mom come here and she did not answer.
THen comes the moving around.from room to room, closet to closet, not having the right equipment, not even a chair for a patient to sit in.
THere is NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THIS HOSPITAL>

Parking is absolutely ridiculous allow yourself lots of time as there is only one lot plus a small emergency lot and you can easily drive in circles for half and hour before finding a spot and once you do you have the great pleasure of paying an exorbitant rate. Tons of staff parking that is empty so if the administrators had any brains they the would open up some of those lots to the public. Even better, have the staff park off site and take a shuttle bus to the hospital. That would free up space and you would not have to pay parking rates like you would pay in New York.oops. One problem I guess.the administrators are not smart and have no interest in making a visit hear bearable. More important to them to line the pockets of the monkeys at precise park link who manage and get to ticket everyone at these lots

THIS HOSPITAL NEEDS NEW MANAGEMENT > HOPEFULLY OUR GOVERNMENT WILL REALIZE THAT THEY ARE GETTING GARBAGE RESULTS FOR THE MONEY THEY SPEND AND DO SOMETHING TO FIX IT. THE ISSUE IS NOT THE MONEY THAT IS SPENT, ITS WHAT WE AS TAXPAYERS GET FOR IT AND THAT. IS DREADFUL

Terrible double standard place for delivery recovery area. 2016 we went for normal public room for recovery for our first child. We spent 2 days and literally it was a nightmare horrible experience. Most of the nurses were rude. They were expecting us to do all their work from changing catheter to feeding baby. 2020 we unwillingly went to Labor. This time we spent $400 for """ private room""". Most of the Nurses were amazing. We were stake of shock during our stay.
Government must intervene in this situation if anyone can't afford the ""private room"" they won't get a better service vs who pay from their own packet.
And suggestion for nurses that please do your job and make patients and new born babies stay smooth not miserable.

My wife recently went in for a surgery.the nurses and triage were the most unorganized rude people I have ever seen. The actual Doctor doing the surgery was excellent.but after the surgery they made her recover in a hallway with tons of people walking by and bumping into her. Also the hospital doesnt seem very clean.

Went to meet my parents as my dad was taking mom in to the ER. I honestly have never seen such Carelessness when it came to procedures. Mom needed to have water sample taken that she was storing which her liver caused. The doctor dropped the needle on the floor and left it there. Got another and did the procedure. He had also removed a heart lead from her. The doctor didn’t clean up after him self and my mom needed to eat. Needle, procedure stuff remained in the room for a good hour. It was me that cleaned up the novicane, the towels and needle off the floor. It was me that silenced the ECG by reattaching the lead the doctor removed which btw came in to check manually cause the machine was being erratic! Yes cause you took of the lead!

Seriously if you can go to the u of a or Alex go there instead! No wonder people usually don’t come out of this hospital!

Update: unfortunately mom being so close to this hospital (East Sherwood) ended up having to go back. She remained in the ER for almost 4 days before finally getting a room. By this time she was gone from her liver not detoxifying. We witnessed the pump never getting drained from the night. And mom hallucinated as she was in the noisiest part of the ER. People constantly coming and going and she remained in there 4 days. Mom was moved up stairs and eventually got reunited with her prior roomie before finally losing her mental ability and was moved to her own room. October 16,2019 mom passed. Entire time they kept asking us what do we want to do. Give her the transplant spite what your seeing! Was the most worst! My dad was losing it every time that question got asked!

I had asked them to not go back here but they did anyways as moms specialist was here. Considering how he was when I met him, mom actually needed a specialist at one of the acute centers! He was too new! His drug therapy gave her the cancer that blocked what she needed and why would you not scope it sooner! They switched it to a lymph node instead telling us nothing about her liver! Yet she swelled up enough and had no detectable alubimum! Day before she passed was when they gave her that the first time. She started to un swell and warm up.
But she was to gone to stay with us. She passed beside dad. Took me many months to update this. I love you mom and think about you all the time.
