Grumans Delicatessen Britannia

I just wanted to share that we took my parents for lunch at Grumans Deli on Saturday and all four of our meals were delish! The team are friendly, the restaurant was clean and we all enjoyed lunch.

We purchased frozen Matzah Balls, coconut macaroons and the Smoked Meat rolls and the quality and taste were all excellent.

Don’t forget the Kosher Pickles … get some!

I have loved Grumans on 12th for ages but just got the chance to visit the Britannia location! Wonderful food and very helpful staff - we brought in a baby so it was a bit of chaos.

Love the food but when it gets busy they do not serve people in the same order they ordered, with some waiting longer than others. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for what seemed to be a degree of disorganization.

WOW. The most incredible Jewish deli. The Reuben was moist, stacked with meat, and so flavourful. The latkes were equally delicious. The staff are so sweet and we absolutely loved having lunch here. Highly recommend a visit to Gruman’s.

Wow! My sister and I were visiting from Edmonton and were blown away by the amazing food and kind staff. We were greeted by cheerful and warm employees. The food was top notch. It’s the best Reuben sandwich I’ve ever had and the potato latkes were amazing! I wish we had an Edmonton location. This place is fabulous.

We often grab Sunday lunch here after yoga. I get the chicken salad sandwich with a side of potato salad and he has the Montreal smoked meat (large size) and mozza ball soup. Both are good choices. Lovely staff.

I loved Gruman's downtown location. The food, service and atmosphere were wonderful. Unfortunately the Britannia location does not measure up at all. Pass on this one. We might try the Garrison Woods location before we totally give up on Grumans.

We are avid Deli fans and have had the great luck to eat at well established Jewish Delis across the USA and Canada. We were excited to learn that Calgary had a Jewish Deli. Our visit to Grumans at Britannia however was a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the food was great. However it is more of a takeout experience than a dine in thing. The servings were miserly and everything served in a paper container. Not the Deli experience we were used to. Tiny, tiny spoons for your soup served in a cardboard tub, and no potatoe salad or pickle with your sandwich. We felt a little short changed. Every other deli we know gives you a scoop of potatoe salad and a pickle slice to round out the order. Com'on Grumans give us a proper bowl, a bigger spoon and fill out that sandwich order. Your food is good its just not plentiful or well presented.

It’s so wonderful to get a delicious Montreal, smoked meat or Reuben sandwich from Grumman’s. I also highly recommend the potato salad, it’s delicious. It’s nice to see they also having a little freezer section that has some of their favourites to go. Definitely worth a visit.

One of my favourite lunch spots in Calgary! The service is always super friendly & fast, and the food is outstanding! Thank you all for always being the best of the best!

I attended this Elbow location Nov 8th just after noon and ended up getting Food Poisoning from this location. I know it was due to this food as it was the only thing I ate that day. The most concerning part was that I called the deli after hours and left a message on Tuesday so I could inform them of this issue. By the next day when I hadn't heard back, I called again. After a brief explanation the woman asked my name as she had clearly received the message, and not called back. She then proceeded to try and suggest it could have been something else I ate the day prior. It was only after I told her that I was a health care provider that she even paid attention to the fact that I knew what my symptoms were caused by. She apologized that I was sick and basically said the next time I was in she would "take care of me" I assume by offering me a free meal. This is of course not what someone wants to hear when they report something like this to a food establishment. It isn't that I think no one should ever eat here again, it is that I wish the manager on staff would have paid more care and attention to a very real concern. I would have hoped she would have showed more initiative by calling me back in the first place, and tried to investigate what might have gone wrong. Too late to report to AHS now but I absolutely feel it necessary to write this review. This all could have been solved if I was called back by a manager and if they seemed concerned and less like they wanted to blame something else.
