I like this gym! The staff are really friendly, they never fail to say goodbye when you're leaving. The facilities are really clean and the number of machines and equipment they have is really good. The only negative is the opening hours, especially on weekends. 6pm is far too early to shut for a large gym, 8pm at least would be nice.

I have been with gym movement for many years now, in the last year and a half /2 years I started working with Bryce Wallis and I couldn't say enough great things. He is a good person and he cares about his clients. He knows how to motivate people and do so in a way that never makes you feel like you've come up short. He made me feel comfortable in a space that historically has not been one for me and helped me feel confident in taking steps to further my journey into fitness. I strongly recommend you hit him up if you are looking to start your journey.

This place is amazing I've never stepped foot in a gym before and all I can say is this gym is great in my opinion the cleanliness is incredible the staff is amazing jesse is just incredible and super helpful with mine and my wife's first visit I even got myself a personal trainer named Josh and this guy is just amazing and incredible he just so helpful and is looking out for my best interest and is gonna be a major part in my journey there love this gym and the staff if I could give 10 stars I would give 10 but to me it's not enough

Great atmosphere and super helpful trainers! One of the trainers Jesse got me back in the gym with a good routine. Not too familiar with the equipment but they have been very helpful to help me figure out what I'm doing and kept me motivated to keep coming back on a regular basis.

The policies are like any other gym, $100 gym equipment fee upon signup, hard to cancel (must be in person), 30 day wait period after cancellation. Locker room smelled like BO/Piss for months. Equipment is average for calgary, overall expected better

I love this gym, the staff are very nice and accommodating. The ambiance, energy and classes are amazing. They have lots of different classes that I really enjoy. And Will the Manager is very hospitable, helpful and very approachable.

There is a lot of sales pressure to get you to enroll on the spot. The place has a strange smell, although it looks clean, perhaps because it is a basement. I think that for the price, particularly the fees for personal training, you can find something better.

Honestly this gym & location is my favorite. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, they have become such a positive aspect of my daily workout routine and visits to the gym. They are so personable and make an effort to get to know their clients.

Not to mention the cleanliness & freshness of the location. The two helpers they have to keep the place running smoothly are so inviting and I appreciate the work they do.

North Hill is just a great community and gym to be apart of, thanks for making my workouts much more enjoyable!?

Tried signing up for the 3 days for $3,1 hour later of orientation and tour of the facility. I found myself still sitting in an office talking about annual and cancellation fees.

It's a gym and you are offering a trial, why not let customers actually use the machines and workout first before going on about all the benefits of the membership the first day.

Havent gone to this location in 3 yrs and i keep asking to cancel my account. Then suddenly my bank got charged for something i never use. Dont ever become a member here they will charge you even if you dont use the gym.

Poorly run organization that is only interested in taking as much money from you as possible while providing as little service as possible.

They robbed me of my pre-paid training sessions during Covid, and added hidden fees when I tried to cancel. Manager did not care at all, and tried to get me to retro-actively sign agreements to give them more money in order to cancel.

Stay as far away as you can.

Showed up to buy the 7 day gym special. They had me talk to some sales person for 1 HOUR (waste of my life). I kept telling him that I just wanted to buy the week special and he kept going on and on.just listen to the client! I eventually gave in and bought the stupid membership but then canceled a month later because I was soooo annoyed by the unprofessionalism and the aggressive sales person. Dark, stinky gym with annoying sales people.

I cancelled my memebership with spalady on 2018. Gymovement is harrasing me to pay them, stating that they bought the contracts people had with spalady. Conviniently my cancelation document was lost. They are asking me to pay a cancelation fee.

They must be suffering from low enrollement numbers if the are scraping the past digging for money.

I would avoid this "gym" at al cost. Shady business practices. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Berau

Worst gym ever! Looks like I'm not the only one who has said this. The staff is not helpful at all, I have sent many emails and called many times and I get a different story every time.
My boyfriend cancelled his membership no problem over the phone a month ago, what has changed?
Was also planned a free gym bag when I signed up for referring 10 friends, never once saw that bag. Every time we go in they say they are locked up in managers office. Is there never a manager around?
Save your money and go to a different gym. Not like they will let you cancel your membership anyways!

DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY. I was a member of the Mcleado trail location (since closed) and it's been a nightmare! They refuse to acknowledge my cancelation request from over a year ago, which I have in writing!

Not only did they charge me for personal training sessions that weren't delivered, they refuse to cancel my account and threaten legal action. Terrible.

This is a cooked organization that will take advantage of you! Do not attend any of these gyms - you will be taken advantage of

Horrible gym to deal with, they are not helpful and make it hard when you want to cancel your membership. For some reason you have to go into the gym to sign documents that my husband was able to get done over the phone a couple of months ago. I don't know why customer service is better and things are easier because of COVID-19, but when COVID-19 is "over" they are making things more difficult. I will never recommend this company to anyone unless they want a headache.

Seriously, no one wears a mask when walking around. It’s very crowded. I don’t feel safe especially this time of COVID. Social distancing can’t be maintained. Staff don’t even where masks. The big guy who cleans though is great, he gives his best to keep areas clean. It’s best to have some other cleaners who do sanitize equipments due to the location being over crowded.

It's like Scientology- once you're in, good luck trying to get out. GYMVMT continues to withdraw their membership fees from my account even though I canceled my membership back in the summer. Horrible communication, horrible customer service.

I joined GYMVMT a couple months ago and I've really enjoyed my membership so far. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the membership rates are affordable, the machines are in good condition, everything seems clean and well-kept. I also really enjoyed my personal training sessions with Jason, which were included in the cost of my membership. Highly recommend!

Membership prices are good relatively, staff extremely friendly, trainers are awesome. Have been very fair and communicative through COVID issues. This the gym to go to if you live nearby.

So far, totally satisfied. Interesting mix of older and new high end equipment.

4/5 for cleanliness - not complaining, it is more than satisfactory but, some constructive criticism: consider cleaning plates a little more often, and men changing room could be vacuumed also a little more frequently.

All the equipment that you would ever need, in the future, I would like to have a safety bar (for squatting) and a newer machine for upper chest

Does get a little crowded, but with minor adjustments to your routine, you won't have to wait almost ever

Would recommend.

Gymvmt stop getting your staff/friends of staff to give you 5 star reviews. This is totally unethical and solidifies my 1 star review. Personally witnessed employees not wash their hands in the bathroom.

There aren't enough great things I could say right now about William Sheppard. I came forward with an issue and he made me no promises but he did create a more then wonderful solution.

I also want to take this opportunity to remind people on this forum to be professional and polite with the people you speak with. I recieved amazing customer service and part of why is because I know the job. Remember that people are trying to help you and will do what they can but it is important to remember to be a good customer. Just because you pay for a service doesn't give you the right to treat employees disrespectfully. I'm very happy with my experiences and I'm greateful that they valued my contribution as much as I value theirs.

They can sell memberships but they can’t stop them. Even after closing the club joined and getting an email saying they received my cancellation they have billed me twice.

Great gym! Uninterrupted workouts, it's not too packed, machines are well maintained, Easy to use phone app and the staff is very friendly. They have been doing pretty good in following the Covid-19 safety guidelines.

Absolutely the best place to work out.

Edit- April 02,2021: This is no longer the best place to work out. I have to change my five star rating to a one star rating.

1. I asked for my MasterCard to be charged, not my Visa. You charged my Visa.

2. I asked for my account to be frozen until such a time that I am able to go to the gym. Everything seemed right, but then on Mar 26,2021 I was charged 28.35. I am not currently feeling safe enough to go to the gym on account of my underlying conditions and the current pandemic.

3. Since becoming GYMVMT, you have:
- In January 2020, you charged me after I asked for my account to be frozen WEEKS in advance, leaving me stranded for two days in Florida with no money and tons of overdraft charges while I waited for my paycheque to go through.
- I asked for my account to be frozen indefinitely after the gyms were closed the first time. You did this, but some time after that, you unfroze my account without contacting me, disconnected my Visa, and allowed my account to accrue over $3000 in charges.
- You thankfully forgave this debt that I should not have had in the first place, and during this conversation, I asked that my payments be switched to my MasterCard. They evidently were not, as I discovered a charge on my Visa today.
- One of your personal trainers quit in part because your company is so poorly managed and she was embarrassed that clients were constantly being overcharged and charged when they weren't supposed to be charged. I don't blame her, this is absolutely embarrassing!

Just started with a new trainer Jason Lee at GYMVMT NorthHill mall location. He has been great. Seems to be very dedicated to his clients. Super knowledgeable, reliable and flexible with scheduling. I have had great experiences here with trainers so far and would highly recommend it.

Awesome gym with great trainers! I have been training here with Jason Lee for the past few months and he is amazing! One of Jason’s many strengths is in providing a program that never becomes redundant. He is able to make workouts interesting by using new and varied techniques with different types of fitness equipment to challenge areas of the body that need work. I've been working through some injuries to get me back into competitive sport and he has been so helpful with the process. He is always very motivating and inspiring others to achieve their best - not only with specific fitness programs that meet every client's needs, but also with his cheerful and fun personality. I can't say enough great things about him.

The staff at GYMVMT North Hill are wonderful! Friendly and helpful. The personal trainers are awesome! They really know how to help you get the job done, whatever your goal may be. I am currently training with Jason who keeps our workouts challenging and fun! He is also very supportive, encouraging and great at keeping you motivated!

First time I have ever had a personal trainer for private sessions and not in a group. Jason Lee gives you workouts based on what you want to be doing and pushes you to do your best to see your goals and still be able to have a fun while you're there.

I’ve been training with Jason Lee for almost 6 years now and it’s been fantastic. He pushes you when it’s needed and eases when necessary. All done within your capabilities. I’ve had a couple of injuries in the past 12 months or so and all my workouts are scaled so that I don’t re-injure myself but he still moves me in the direction of healing and making me stronger, I love it.

Professional and personal all at the same time. I strongly recommend Jason for training.

Like the gym, like the people, but this gym needs to do more to keep things clean during Covid. You can't just rely on your patrons to do all the work in this area. It's worrisome to me that above the gym, in the mall, people are taking tons of precautions but down in the basement where there are no windows and people huffing and puffing, I don't see much of any precautions being used. I would like to see the staff here take a more active approach with cleaning. Lastly, please offer more recycle bins in the gym area if I will be using 20+ wipes per workout to keep things clean for myself and for you.

Great first experience here. Scott gave a great tour and really got across the mutual commitment that should come between a gym and their attendees. They ultimately want to see you get the most out of your time at the gym and in your health goals. Great price and all the equipment one could need outside of maybe some high performance athletics.
Got recommended by a friend and would recommend to anyone.

You are “valued”. You are not just “a time filler. ” “We will give your money back we took from you” — they said. These guys are complete thieves and not to mention the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. They kept charging my credit card as if the gym was open and I had a trainer. Even after cancelling my membership and talking to management, 2 months later, I still cannot get my money back or feel like I am somewhat of a priority. I do not feel valued. I feel used. Very disheartening to feel this after 6+years.

I signed up online as it’s close to my home and work! The gentleman on the phone was wonderfully energetic and excited to answer my questions.however when I came to the club I was clearly a bit nervous and the lady at the front desk barely said a word to me and was a bit rude. I’m going to try and give the benefit of the doubt to her but it still did not make me feel comfortable when I was way out of my comfort zone

I was a client here for a little over a year and I loved it. Every face was a friendly one, and the commitment to providing the best service in all facets was very apparent. I trained with Alex Hutton before he moved on, and then with Daniel Lee; both amazing trainers and people. They put in the time and effort for me and I'm extremely thankful for it.

As a young man with very low self esteem and self confidence, this place was very welcoming and I felt comfortable right away, and I recommend it to anyone I can!

Wow. I signed up two weeks ago but have been having issues with the app so haven't worked out. Was supposed to get a complimentary training with a PT, nothing. No calls. I even texted the assistant GM about it, nothing. She'd texted me a week ago to set up training but heard nothing. So went in there today to cancel and she was so flippant. Just a disappointing situation.

If I could give 0 stars I would.

World health now known as GYMVMT did not send any communication about continued monthly fees or gym closures. In three months since COVID-19 emerged this company continued to take out money from my account. Every other gym membership I have was put on hold (they also sent regular updates in emails) during the shut down except them. When I call to have my membership cancelled I’m talked over by the staff. This is why I’m leaving this gym, I’ve been a member since 2012-2013. I’ve had no problems with their Edmonton locations but it wasn’t until I moved to Calgary that this gym company has completely lacked in customer service. When I call to ask to get my membership cancelled, I’m offered a credit. Why would I want to remain with a gym who cared so little of their memberships during covid? Had there been more transparency or better customer service, this could’ve have ended differently. My info has not changed, this is just poor business practices and I rather spend my money at another gym with more accountability to their members. Join at your own risk.

I was still being charged on my CC after the gym closed in March and I had to call in to stop the payments and be credited. What kind of holier than though business model is that when you do not stop payments immediately and people are losing their jobs during a global crisis? Is Gymvyt more special than the rest of us?

North Hill location is in a dingy basement with no windows. Not my favourite gym but the closest.

This is a great club and the staff is friendly and helpful. They have quite the facility with lots of equipment. They have everything you need to accomplish your goals. Free personal training sessions included with membership purchase towel service Steam rooms private showers etc. This is all great but I find it hard for me to fit in a weekend workout as the hours of operation are quite short and I’m usually busy on my weekend during the day. I understand this is partially due to the malls hours of operation however it’d be nice if they incorporated something to make up for this. Wether that be a discount or something else considering how many gyms are in the area that would support a early AM or night time weekend workout. I wouldn’t walk in expecting to be able to quickly ask how much a membership is unless you have got 30 minutes to hand over a bunch of information and sit through a PowerPoint. High pressure sales tactics are not exactly appreciated by me, however the information seemed to be there. I understand a reason they may use this tactic is because they are slightly pricier than other gyms and they want to make sure you know what extra services you are receiving by signing with them before shocking you with a price higher than competitors. I would say the price is defiantly worth it considering the perks and facility

Been going to this gym for over a year. The staff is extremely helpful; I have never seen such dedicated and knowledgable trainers like the ones at North Hill Mall. I looove having the free booster sessions every month with Daniel Lee. He helped me work on my shoulder tilt and made me tone up!

Good gym, lots of equipment and the dumbbells go up to 125 which isn't common enough. My only complaint is that it can become overrun with personal trainers running circuits on multiple prices of equipment with multiple clients making it hard to workout during rush hour time 4-7pm

Got offered a free trial membership and figured why not try it out? Took off from work early and rushed over to make it on time. Sat around for 10 minutes past my scheduled meeting time with no sign of the trainer. Guess I’ll just stick with the gym I’m at now
Update: Got a message from the trainer when I got home. Was blamed for not being more patient and taking more time out of my day for him. Also got guilt tripped because apparently it’s his birthday, extremely unprofessional to talk to. Awful first impression of this company.

I am looking to sign up at another gym. The weekend hours are inconvenient, weekdays are too busy to even use the majority of equipment. I disliked the layout of equipment everywhere except the small side room with power racks. This gym has made me lose faith in weightlifting due to such a unenjoyable experience. I used to go to Sunridge and loved it, now I dread going and can't even go unless it's later during evenings or early in the day, which I struggle to do.

I have been at this World Health location for over a year and have seen it nicely upgraded. Joshua Cairns has been my trainer for this time period, and he trained my son. He truly inspired my son to follow instructions and to push his limits. The mind and body training certainly helped my boy with his first part-time jobs - in construction and office moving. Joshua also has helped me to progress in weight training and is supporting me in losing weight. He is a super human being, an inspirational soul, someone who can bring you up on a bad day. I highly recommend him and the gym itself.

Walk in, ask for there Price on member ship for no contract, they wouldn’t give it to me. Then they force me to sign into there system and give my info up to get a Price out of them. Then the lady I wait for wants to know about when I get off work and whatever else m, asked 5 times for a price, said I’m walking if u can’t give me a Price. Why do you need to know my life? U don’t. I asked a simple question but had to spend 5 mins being bombarded for my personal life lol next time focus on the sale and listen to what I’m asking. I should have to ask 5 times and literally say I’m walking if u can’t tell me a Price lol back to busy GoodLife downtown. At least they understand and respect what u say.

I first walked into this gym 4 years ago and was ready to cancel the membership I had already bought, when Darine Alame sat me down and I explained my fear. I was scared to be there, I hated being looked at, and I had no idea what I was doing. Over time (and I mean years of ups and downs), and with the amazing support, knowledge, and enthusiasm of Darine and Alex Pronchuck, my outlook on physical activity continues to undergo unbelievable changes. My confidence within this community has transferred to many areas of my life and I highly recommend this gym to everyone!

Although I've been a member of WHC North Hill since the fall of 2011, I only started serious resistance training in April of 2018. My hard work, coupled with training I've received from WHC staff, has paid off. On June 8,2019 following 12 weeks of training with and adhering to a program designed by David McNeil, I had my 1 RM test day. I achieved new PRs in bench press, back squat and deadlift. I never could have imagined achieving these benchmarks over a year ago when I began serious resistance training to lose weight and get my blood pressure down to normal.

David is a consummate professional and testament to WHC's mission statement. His patience and coaching over these past three months improved my range of motion, corrected my form, and resulted in an increase in my loads by about 30% for the bench press, about 40% for squats and about 20% for the deadlift.

I would recommend David to anyone who's seriously interested in improving form and increasing loads. He is attentive, serious about his craft and has an easy-going demeanour that makes him a joy to work with.

Keep up the great work folks!

First time here so maybe my views will change but.
I told the front desk it’s my first time and asked where the change room and women’s section is. He vaguely told me they are in the back to the left.
Didn’t ask if I wanted to be shown or offer to grab someone. I had to ask someone in here how to find the women’s section because it is so badly marked, needs a sign.or show new people.

In the women’s section, there are male trainers in here. It’s a women’s section and shouldn’t have ANY males in here, this isn’t acceptable.

Women’s section has no room to lay a mat out to do stretching, need a full stair climber but the little guy they have here. I’d suggest the sunridge location, hands down. Much further from my place but worth the drive.
