Super fast hike. Very steep for the last 20 minutes. Fantastic views. When I lived in canmore I hiked this peak once a month, even at night. I watched Canada day fireworks from the top. This is a four season hike - brink spikes in the winter and spring! The top is almost always windy and up to 10 degrees colder.

Trail was in great shape and well graded with stairs on the steep parts and easy to follow. Not much snow and well packed on the trail. Micro spikes helped on the steep parts.

Nice sunny day and no wind even at the peak.

This is one of the best hikes I've been to so far, and it was an outstanding experience. The hike is pretty steep, and it requires both physical and mental ability. If you are hiking in the winter, cleates are mandatory because throughout the whole hike, there are a lot of places where it's slippery, and after the tree line, there is an unmaintained trail.
It's really windy at the top, so carry some extra layers.
Almost 80 percent of the hike is below the treeline, and the last 20 percent is the rewarding part. The last part of the hike gives you a real sense of mountaineering.
The weather was pretty bad when I hiked, so I would definitely hike back again in the summer.
Carry all the appropriate gears like cleates, hiking poles, proper shoes, and clothes. Also, carry plenty of water and food. Enjoy the hike, fellow mountaineers!

A beautiful challenge! The ladders are fun, and the scramble to the top is worth the possibility of being buried in an avalanche. High traffic trail. Bring water, bear spray, and snacks. Have fun out there!

Ha Ling ranks as s my most difficult Trail in my very short career.

The ice and snow made it difficult. We did wear ice cleats, we bought at Canadian tire which are important.

It would have been very helpful to have walking sticks as well for both directions.

My daughter climbed the hill in the summer and made it all the way to the top.

I just turned 67 and I am probably in medium condition for my age. I am not a daily active type person in terms of exercising.

What a fabulous hike, there are two peaks at the top to explore Ha-Ling and Miners Peak. Heading to both peaks. Makes this at 9 km hike and 900 m of elevation gain.

Nice trail, easy at the beginning, at the top more difficult. Lots of people. Very nice view on the top.

Ha Ling Peak offers an exhilarating adventure with breathtaking rewards. The hike boasts awe-inspiring 360-degree views of the Rocky Mountains. While the trail is well-maintained, it's a strenuous climb, so sturdy boots and trekking poles are essential. Keep an eye out for mountain goats along the way. Weekends can get crowded, so plan for a quieter weekday visit or an early morning start. The weather can change quickly, so dress accordingly. In summary, Ha Ling Peak delivers an unforgettable experience, making it a must-do for avid hikers seeking a challenging and visually stunning trek.

Ha Ling Peak at Sunrise. A must! Started at 5am, took about 1 hr 45 min to get to the saddle. Found a nice little spot on the ridge to sit back and watch the show. Everything up to the saddle is well marked with defined paths. You will l experience a steady incline the whole way up.
The last 400 meters to the peak is more of a scramble but can be done. Absolutely breathtaking up there. Was down at my car by 10am. Plenty of time to explore the rest of the Rockies.

Steady incline, beautiful trail. Definitely pack layers. Best description from my friend.not hard, just demanding.

Ample paved parking with washrooms just a short walk across the street from the trailhead.

Get hike. It was a little smoky but was still a great view. Lots of chipmunks at the top of the mountain.

Hard but rewarding experience. It is pretty steep the whole way and gets steeper the closer you get to the top. Be very careful. Gravel path and wind near the top makes for an uneasy climb up and back down. Took me and my husband 3 hours to get to the peak.

Hiker beware. When I went it was hot. I've observed families not wearing appropriate footwear or have adequate hydration. I'm not a pro and am fairly active and the hike was manageable (I would have found it difficult if I was not active). Not sure how those I have described faired by the time they completed the in and out of this trail as it had serious ascent/descents and hope for easy recovery. I'd do it again next time I'm in the area.

Take water with you. Switchbacks throughout, steep inclines on the ascent and a few scrambled areas. Give it two to three hours depending on condition—You’ll need it. Could spend an afternoon too.
Descent can be tough on the legs.

Remember to bring a rain jacket and wear the nice hiking boots! It’s very steep and slippery with all the sand and rocks.

A beautiful trail to visit with. Awesome view up there. I was almost reach the peak
I’ll definitely challenge it again.

First hike I've done and I gotta say, this had me beat. Lot of good spots to take breaks. Lookout points were amazing and reaching the peak was a treat. Hard, but worth it!

This trail is STEEP. A steady- even a slow pace can complete this trail in an hour. The difficulty is not the length, but the incline. Would not recommend tackling this as a beginner.

In the spring/summer bring a windbreaker for the summit. Near the summit there will be signs saying that the trail is not maintained at the peak- go there for the view. Absolutely worth the hike up. Do not settle for any lesser views given how few meters the elevation is to the top.

Make sure you have 2L of water per person and maybe a protein bar or two. Take plenty of short breaks on the way up!

Wow what a hike. Definitely a leg burner but the views are bring your hiking poles to make it a little easier. Recommend going up Ha Long peak first which was harder with loose rocks before cutting across to Miner's Peak for a fantastic view of Ha Long peak.

Absolutely gorgeous views at the top. Around 10km round trip with around 800m of elevation gain. Harder and steeper than I imagined. Not a casual hike by any means but worth the effort!
07 July 2023 22:46
This trail was too much for me ultimately, I didn't make it to the peak. Trail is good for the most part, but gets more technical than my comfort level at several spots and full disclosure I'm not a seasoned hiker. Loose rocks and exposure near the top did me in.

The trail is continously steep to reach the top. Not very beginner friendly but it is doable enough if you take breaks. Bring lots of water and extra clothing because it gets windy at the top. I would highly recommend to wear hiking shoes as it is scrambly for the last 20 minutes before reaching the top. It is a popular trail, so I suggest to go early to avoid the wave of people coming up. Overall, the trail is challenging, but extremely worth it!

The hike is challenging but rewarding, with breathtaking views of Canmore & the surrounding mountains, and a sense of accomplishment at the summit. Be prepared for steep sections and crowded conditions, but the experience is well worth it.
