This used to be a good place to find deals but much like all the second hand stores the prices have become ridiculous and barely save me a trip to buy brand new. The staff prices things "wrong" so when you get to the counter everything is priced higher than the sticker price. (If it wasnt a non-profit this would be illegal) They then blame "sticker swapping" on the customers. Very sad to see the last of the second-hand stores.
Previously gave this place a five-star review but over the last couple of months I've noticed the prices have become a little crazy. See the pictures for stuff that you can get new at. Canadian Tire or princess auto and they're the same price. An incomplete drill bit set for 23 bucks and a used grinding wheel that might blow up in your face for 5 bucks. With that being said, some of the items are still a good deal. You just got to have patience and dig really deep. Do your research or you could get burned here.
Prices have risen steadily in recent years, but this is still a great place to look for gently used (or new!) items and support a good cause at the same time.
This is my favourite place to goto. The store is huge and easy to find what you need. The people are nice and everything is organized good. The only thing is last time the employee broke my cousins desk putting it in the van because they didn’t lift their end up. Other than that I like the store
Good selection but whoever sets the pricing here is pricing items like they’re new. Most of the items are 20+ years old and quite worn out. You can buy most things cheaper and new at Canadian tire.
I always enjoy walking around to see what deals are available today. Picked up a new 12 ft nylon tow rope (4500 lb capacity) for $10. Hope I never need it!
Be wary of their prices when you shop here. This location has a habit of pricing over retail on some items. Check the prices for what you are after before going here. When I questioned the price of an item they only used one online site to get the price, not the best place for price by the way.
I recently had a bad experience with this store, they say they pride themselves on working with people with mental illness but when it comes down to it this is not the case.a recent employee was let go and told they need professional help and they cannot accommodate someone with mental illness they are not doctors.because she disclosed their mental illness when they were hired the company was well aware and then used it completely against them. If this is is how the mentally ill are treated its no wonder so many are angry this issue needs to be addressed and it is shocking that this store can get away with being so cruel.shame on you.
I went to all the Habitat for Humanity Restores in the last few weeks. I notice different prices per store on Underlay. I purchased 200 Sq ft for 15.00 at the South 99 st location. Yesterday I went to 82St location and they were selling 100 Sq ft for $50. I asked about the discrepancy in cost and was told by a rep they have to sell items at 60% of retail otherwise it is deemed a fraudulent sale in terms of their tax status.don't they get these items for free? And why does each store sell at different prices? I went to Sherwood Park yesterday and they tried to charge me $35 dollars for 60 Sq ft of underlay.the rep looked up the price on their database and reduced to $15.
Shop around from store to store to find a deal. They all don't follow the same pricing!
Lots and lots of stuff. Staff was very helpful in our search for weird colors of paint. We hit the jackpot! You have a DIY project but have a tight budget. This place is a must. Everthing from bedknobs to broomsticks. Have fun!
Waited forever to get parking. Finally parked. Saw dozens of MUST WEAR MASK signs. Carried my 10 month old in. Since mask mandates have been dropped and I have a medical exemption, I didn't think me and my child not wearing a mask would be an issue. I was wrong. I asked the lady at the counter if they had carpets/area rugs. She directed me to the back of the store saying she wasn't sure. Did not mention the masks at all! I walked to the back where she where suggested I look. Passed by a male employee with a long ponytail and glasses, he gave me awful looks and muttered rude remarks at me. I was at the back of the store for not even two minutes before I was greeted by two employees one of which was a female manager handing me a mask kit and the other was a large male that looked like club bouncer. I put the mask on for two minutes as I left the store. They immediately lost my business. I'm not one to make a scene in a store so I just left. I just thought all of this was extreme overkill for a young woman with a baby and a medical exemption! WILL NOT BE RETURNING.
Great items, always something new, staff could be friendlier, they seem kind of grouchy throughout the whole place. But other than grumpy staff it's a good place to find those odd items you didn't know you need.
I go here for low-price refurbished appliances, second-hand furniture, home-improvement goods and other 'odds and sods'. Flooring is especially discounted, although usually only available in small quantities.
Recently got supplies here to upcycle a free coffee table into a turtle habitat coffee table where the pet can be viewed and interacted with!
My first time here, lots of furniture that appeared to be quite good quality, in decent shape, at a reasonable price. I don't know as much about building materials, but they had quite a bit, not always large quantities but enough for small projects or crafts.
Furniture can still be a bit pricey for the defects they have, but you can't beat a $5-25 door. Lamps and fixtures are really nice and really cheap too. Nice staff, clear layout, no confusion over where anything is.
Incredible assortment of home building supplies. This place is definitely worth a look plus all sales go towards building homes forvthise that need a hand up.
Great place to find household odds & ends, housewares, and furniture. It’s a little disorganized, but staff and volunteers do their best. There are always great finds at this place.
We went in today to find cabinets and found a bunch so that was great, the first person we tried to deal with was very snappy with the answers to our questions and so was the second, the guys that helped us load the cabinets were helpful and happy to help. It would have been a more enjoyable experience if everyone had been more pleasant.
Great place for finding doors windows from excess on building sites to gently used from home owners. If you have a new sink or taps this is a good place to drop them off so someone else can use them.
Bought tiles here for DIY project, and I made a mistake of not checking whats inside of each box realizing as I slowly tackling my project that half of what i have purchased is not the same color. The store has a 7 day return policy which I'm totally aware of. Having half installed already made it impossible to make it work. So i went back to the store hoping they can help me. And Im thankful for All their great volunteers/Staff working at the store for accommodating my mistake and honored to replace with the right color of tiles even after the 7 day return policy.
Hardware and protective construction clothing for a price that can't be beat. Only one cashier open, so there are lines to pay, but so it goes. Helpful staff and very good selection of merchandise.
Amazing place, very friendly staff and volunteers. A bit of a "discovery" for I was familiar with their north side location, but not this one on the South side. Found a particular can opener I had been looking for some time now. Must return for a more comprehensive visit! LCA
Great place for the creative mind that likes to do projects or someone who just wants to save a little money on small/large home renos. They have dinnerware, furniture, cabinets, counter tops, electrical, lighting, plumbing, doors, etc. You name it and it's probably there.
Great reuse store for everything but area rugs. We are converting a spare room into an air bnb short term rental and got a desk and end table for super cheap.
