HER GYMVMT Fitness Club - Northgate

They never told me that there is a penalty for a one year contract. I paid 145$ to cancel my daughter membership, and I don't know why they took one month after canceling 100$ pebalty+ 40$ one more month while I explained that my daughter can't go to the gym.

OK I’ve been in the gym 2017 my experience I have with the Tina and Carrie and kristine and Lena too. They are really amazing people and make the gym motivation and make me welcome and make you keep coming again and again and again. I love them really keep doing what you do I sorry forgot the lovely Mona & aki the bast they always helpful and and encouraging

I am registered with Myriam st. Germain for group training and it has been a great experience. I am motivated and am seeing good results. Myriam is an amazing trainer!

I became a member of this gym in may and I was new to all gym stuff I got Nikki Ozbak as a trainer and that’s the best decision I could have ever made thought me a lot in very short time built my confidence and made me obsessed with gym. She is sweet, caring and important of all fun to work with.

I love this gym, It is such a positive environment and my trainer Hiam is the best trainer I could have ever asked for. She knows exactly what to do with me at any given time. She has so many amazing qualities that make her an amazing trainer, she taught me how to manage my disability and change my body and habits for the better, I would not be where I am today without her. This woman needs a promotion and a year of free booster juice.

Lena and Christina were so wonderful and helpful towards my friend and I! They both had great uplifting personalities and motivated us to try our best and continue to reach our goal.

I’ve been back and forth about going to the gym but once I started a membership here I have no regrets! Hiam is a super good trainer and Lena is one of the best staff there! Facility is always clean and it is a very comfortable environment

I have the privilege of being trained by Hiam, and I am super happy with my results. She is very knowledgeable and effective, also super personable! You simply will not regret it:)

I was searching for an all women’s gym and came across this one not knowing much about the place I decided to check it out and I was greeted immediately by Christina, she helped me step by step to sign up for a membership and all the amazing perks that come with it. I felt very safe and supported just on the first day. On my way out I was saying my goodbyes to everyone and ended up staying to chat with Lena at the front desk, she is very bubbly and extremely friendly I am already enjoying it here! All the staff especially those two I talked to are absolutely lovely

If you ever need someone to motivate you, please sign up with the trainer Myriam St. Germaine! She is the best and will be able to teach you and guide you throughout every workout so that you can maintain great form to see the best results. Highly highly recommend Myriam as a trainer!

I can't recommend “ Myraim “ enough! As someone who has always struggled to stick to a fitness routine, I was hesitant to invest in a personal trainer. But after just a few sessions with Myriam I was hooked. I love her ability to motivate and inspire. I would definitely come back for more.

I been going to this gym since spa lady open, I go 3 or 4 x a week, it’s the best ladies gym ever, wen I come in the gym I’m always welcome by the front desk with a smile, and wen I work out, the ladies who work there are always friendly and supportive!

Great environment and experience! I signed up for the personal training sessions for added motivation and have found them to be absolutely amazing! Not only am I learning a lot but I am having a lot of fun too (all while making fitness gains). Carrie is a pleasure to work with and I always look forward to my sessions. I am so delighted that I made a decision to go back to GYMVMT at the Northgate location. The welcoming started at the reception and the FC (Aki) along with the best Trainers. After giving birth to two beautiful souls, I have lost myself within due to the massive weight gains and horrible back pain. Carrie, the trainer helped me to gain my strength back and lost the excessive weight. For that I thank all the staff at Northgate location!

The staff is very friendly and helpful! The gym is clean and well organized. The change rooms are large and well laid out.

Love this gym, it’s a great place and a great environment. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Getting personal trainer sessions with Breanne has played a huge role in my progress. She is very knowledgeable and will help you achieve your goals. She’s very friendly and personable and it makes working out with her a lot of fun. Would recommend for anyone starting out who wants to feel more comfortable in the gym and build up their strength to see Breanne and get your sessions in with her.

So far this place is great. Very quiet gym and the staff have been pleasant. The general manager is very helpful and friendly.

I attempted to cancel twice. Once during Covid. There was no one at the facility so I did it by email. Manager replied they would cancel my membership and never did. She only cancelled the personal training. Not my mistake! The second time I went in personally. They are still billing my credit card. This company has stolen thousands from me! This company is crooked and I wouldn't advise anyone to join them unless you enjoy being screwed over. They don't even deserve 1 star.

I emailed the gym to cancel my membership, and then was told I had to come in to cancel, fine that’s okay. I was also told that I wasn’t part of a contract so when I canceled I was then told I needed to pay 99$ plus tax plus this month and next month of my payments, which is weird because I was again told in the email I wouldn’t have to pay anything other than my month that was due. So I go in and explain to the lady why I needed to cancel my membership and she kept telling me I could just freeze it and come back when I have the time which I don’t, it’s out of my way now that I’m not coming into Edmonton on a daily basis. They lied to me about the amount I had to pay to cancel a membership. I would recommend a different gym that won’t make you pay 140$ to cancel a membership, that accommodates people who can’t afford to pay 140$ To cancel a membership. AWFUL service was provided to me and I’m happy to take my services to a better gym.on top of that pretty sure they charge my account twice a month and not monthly so I will be screenshooting if any other payments are taken out of my account as I was charged twice now for the month of July, (beginning of the month and again to cancel) and have 2 gym payments taken out from May if it continues I will be demanding a refund from this company as your stealing my money. If I could give negative stars I would. I’m very upset and disappointed.

Manager has no accountability nor compassion. Called and left an email to request a cancellation, but they did not cancel the membership for months and refused to even credit the remaining amount. There are gyms out there with better equipment and cheaper membership. Will not be recommending this gym to my friends and family.

It’s never crowded, very bright and well lit, feels safe, it’s very clean (they have cleaning staff around when they are open and they don’t stop moving).
Sometimes the front desk ladies can seem a bit unapproachable but not all of them. I suggest if you are worried about the contracts to ask as many questions as you can and document what is said to you before committing fully. I never had issues when they closed during COVID 19 protocols putting my payment on hold either (I called the head office directly).

Called to see if they have month to month option. The lady on the phone clearly said cant give you any Info over the phone. (lol fastest way to chase costumers away) I asked her why it's either yes or no. She replied book an apointement to get your answer. SERIOUSLY, WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS.
Any business will do their best to bring more customers but not this gym.

I was in Anna's class on Thursday February 10th from 9: 30 - 10: 30. I really like it and it was an awesome experience something different for the body and really really sweaty.felt so good afterward, thank you Anna.it was excellent class today

Good atmosphere, variety of equipment to use, clean area, professionally trained fitness consultants, especially Mona. She was very professional and knew what she was doing along with being friendly. Perfect place to work out in if you wear the hijab. Definitely recommend

When I tried to cancel my membership I was asked to pay a fee of a little over a $100 and by this point my membership was already expired, not only that but the gym I was going to on the west end shut down. I never agreed to renew my contract and they’re still taking money out of my account 2 years later.

I love HER GYMVMT. Ever since i started Muna and the other staff have been so helpful. Breanne My trainer is helping me achieve my goals so far and I love our session.she makes it fun and enjoyable to train and she is very motivating and encouraging! If motivation, flexibility, and a personal approach is what you looking for in a PT, then Breanne is the girl for you!

I signed up with Mona Swedan, she showed me an amazing full body workout that makes me want to come daily to the gym to achieve my goals, she is very friendly, I love the club.

FRIENDLY STAFF AND LOTS OF VARIED EQUIPMENT TO WORK OUT ON. THE INSTRUCTORS FOR THE VARIOUS CLASSES ARE VERY GOOD. CLEAN AND NEAT. GREAT FITNESS CONSULTANTS ESPECIALLY MONA.

HER GYMVMT is a great place to workout! Everyone including the staff are friendly, helpful and supportive! I've been a long time member, I had great experience in their group fitness! Group fitness offers so many types of fitness for every female to go into such as HIIT, strength training, ab work, and or Zumba!

Im so disappointed how you guys just taking my money without any notice i called in May i told you guys i want to cancel my membership you rejected my request and now you guys are taking money each month while my contract is expired already how come? !? !? !? ! But if you guys asking for money you gave your customers 1000 calls. Im not happy with this at all and i will never come back again to this company.

I’ve never in my life given a bad review on anything even if I get the worst customer service experience but with GYMVMT, I would like to just warn everyone to be very careful when signing up for anything at any of the GYMVMT location. Personally, I think that GYMVMT is a big scam, when you sign a contract, there’s a lot of information that are not given to you. I used to go to the one in Wem, it permanently closed, I had to find out on my own one evening I wanted to go workout. They do not bother to inform you when the gym that you go to permanently closes but instead they’ll still keep on taking money out of your bank account and when you realize that they permanently closed the gym in the location that is convenient for you, they will just tell you to go to a different location even if it’s across the city and mind you this will not be part of the contract that you sign. I am very disappointed because my friends warned me about this Gym but I did not listen. I would not recommend GYMVMT to anyone, if I could give 0 star, I would

Worst gym and staff in the city, horrible customer service. They made my wife to signed up for one year contract without knowing, even though my wife has limited in English language. My wife went to spoke with Mona and other staff member in Arabic language and asked them to try the gym month to month only, they charged her visa card every month and when she ask them to cancel her member they refused to let her inside and they refused to let her to speak with someone in charge. I personally went there to solve the problem, Mona never spoke with me and she was escape from this situation by blaming my wife and never spoke with me in person. I need someone in charge to settle this issue soon, as I see from pervious comments from many ladies has same our problem and obviously no ones are happy about their services.

This all women gym is awesome! You have everything you need for a complete workout! Helpful staff and knowledgeable trainers help you to reach your fitness goals!

A good place to go if you’re tired of the business of co-Ed gyms.
However, the place is incredibly cluttered. It is a rare sight to see clients replacing their weights and cleaning up after themselves. Equipment laying around haphazardly creates a tripping hazard, which is grounds for injury.
I spend a good portion of time cleaning up after others. Either re-racking weights needs to be strictly enforced to new members, or staff needs to clean up throughout the day. This is my biggest frustration.

Nice gym, good equipment and you can feel comfortable with no judgment when working out. Sometimes the receptionist (s) have an attitude when you have a question or an issue though

This is my humble request to everyone pls, stay away from this management they are scammers.they charged me monthly during pandemic and now they completely closed down their St. Albert location completely and still charging weekly though I requested them to terminate my membership long back during second lockdown (pandemic) I will never recommend this gym to anyone and guys don’t give your bank details these scam artist ever no matter what.pathetic management

Horrible place.will never deal with this gym again.have been a member for 2 years and 2 months ago decided to go in person with my mom to cancel our membership as they charged us during the pandemic and I decided against working out in a public space due to covid.was told that I get a free gym bag due to the credit I have with them from being charged while the gym was closed.then got papers to sign that I was CANCELLING my membership. I expressed that I do not want to use the gym anymore and have made a home gym instead.stayed there for an hour while the lady dealt with it all and assured me I will not be getting charged anymore - 2 months later, got charged again.called them to ask why I'm getting charged again and the lady was so snobby and rude.she said that my account was put on freeze instead of cancellation and when I expressed that the lady assured me my account is cancelled she said that what i'm saying makes no sense and that she wasn't there for the conversation so she's telling me what it is.absolutely disgusting service, why should I have to pay for their mistake? Why am I getting charged after i've expressed that I do not want to go anymore. I've heard plenty of horror stories about this gym and how they refuse to cancel memberships.should've listened.my friends and family are now looking to go to another gym.gymvmt needs to do better as the other reviews have said, their customer service is horrible and I will continue to recommend against this gym - the owner can thank the ladies' horrible attitudes for that!

This gym’s management is a mess. As mentioned in other reviews below, it is true all they said about Tina and contracts, etc. When I signed up I told Tina it was temporary as I was trying to join the army. I didn’t wanna make contracts or any commitments, but she convinced me to get the personal training + gym fees and said I could cancel it at any time for a single $100 fee. Now that I am trying to cancel, they’re not allowing me saying I have to pay the entire balance leftover for the 1 year. Plus, I’ve been paying for a personal training that I have barely used. I started since November and to this day I have received 2 different workout plans (it was supposed to be different every week). Last but not least, they charge my CC whenever they feel like it! Last time they charged me on April 30th, then again on May 7th for the same amount. A week later they’ve tried to take another payment (my payments were supposed to be BIWEEKLY). They’re also closed, and although my fees are supposed to be frozen until the gym reopens back up again, I told them I did not want to be paying for a service I’m not using. There’s no regards to my wishes, at the end of the day they’ll do whatever they want to keep your money. STAY AWAY!

Poor management, poor quality training.
Tina Olund who runs the gym not only doesn't listen to members, but will allow for members to be repeatedly charged while the gyms are shut down and then refuse to give a refund. I just let my loses be what the are the last time, but am still getting charged during this shut down. The personal training I did get was poor quality and always rushed. Absolutely will never go going to this gym ever again. If I could give 0 stars I would.

When I first came in to the gym I was not motivated and felt like it would be so hard to achieve my goal. However, when I met Asmaa, I was assisted in the best way possible! I appreciate her hard work and dedication and really want to thank her. She is an amazing person and shows nothing but kindness and has a great sense of humour. I signed up at the gym feeling nervous. I enrolled with Asmaa who is a manager at this location. She explained everything to me, how the membership works and other things in the gym. She offerred great services of workouts. She's always smiling and motivating me to continue to workout. I'm very happy that I got started with this gym and all credits to Asmaa who made the whole membership easy and great process. I highly reccommen you ask for Asmaa, best service offerred. The Manager Tina is the worst person to deal with, she does not have manners to talk to the customers nor she has phone etiquette. They charged us for over 3 months membership even though the Gym was closed during COV-19 pandemic. I was willing to pay the cancellation fee but why should I be charged for the time when the Gym was closed. Tina was unable to provide any satisfactory reply making it sound like this is in their policy whereas there was no way they could have known how to compensate or charge customers for COV-19 scenario. Worse still was that while I was talking to her on the phone she just kept the phone down and leaves without any explanation and my wife was left standing there in utter shock with her lack of respect. It seems she is only after money and after reading some of other reviews it seems I am not the only one who has had this bad experience. I highly suggest to avoid this place at all cost or be prepared for the worst customer service experience. I will not give this place even 1 star. I would also suggest GYMVMT owners to review all these cases and refund our money as customers feel cheated for been charged when the Gym was shutdown during COV-19.

I signed up with Asmaa and honestly she made me feel super comfortable. The membership process was very smooth due to the service she provided me. I recommend people to get started with her as I am very happy.

Nice atmosphere, and friendly staff! I only wish that the equipment was kept more organized. None of the free weights & plates downstairs ever seem to be put away or organized properly and it becomes frustrating during my workout. You can't even really put anything away properly without having to re-organize things yourself.

Also keep in mind, that as a women's only location they have a limited amount of heavier weights, so you have to spend time searching around and carrying things back and forth for what you want.

With covid, they do have some really great cleaning procedures in place. There is always someone walking around cleaning everything all day long which is nice!

Worst place ever, I had to cancel my membership because my schedule is being packed up and I wouldn't have enough time to go to. They told me I would have to pay a fee for terminating my contract and I agreed to do so. But during the time I wanted to cancel my membership they were under renovations and saying they would hold charges, but they continue to charge me during the time they were under renovations when they said they wouldn't! After the renovations were done I went in person to cancel, they terminated my contract, I payed the fee, and they took my card that was used to enter. But after cancelling my membership they still charge me every month! I need a refund now!

This place is a was of time and money! I have a 1 year membership and can not cancel it due to the contract, I was not told that I wouldn’t be able to cancel at anytime and did not receive my last personal trainer session. When I came to work out with my friends the staff were incredibly rude and made us feel uncomfortable, my friend and I ended up going home without getting our workout in due to the fact that they would not let her pay to work out that day. When my 1 year contract ended they still took money out of my card and charged me for 3 months after my contact! I have been trying to reach out to them through phoning and emails but still haven’t got a response, I am now forced to meet them in person during a pandemic to sort out the issue.

Dont sign a contract with them. They were renovating their Northgate location & I was told to come In an sign a paper to put my account on ahold so I drove all the way to their west Edmonton mall location just to sign that paper & turned out my account was never on hold & fees were still coming out even well they were doing the renovations So I have been trying get answers on how to cancel my membership cause I’m not happy with them but no one seems to answer to me at their Northgate location. Safe your money & the trip of checking this one out an go to a different gym that’s better. I Will never recommend anyone to sign up here or even bother checking it out!

I came in today because I was at the mall for my son’s blood work. I asked if I could take a quick look around since I am looking for new gym and didn’t have a lot of time. The girl at the front called a rep to talk to me, when I asked her to show me around she told me I had to go through a assessment to find out what my fitness goal are. I told her I workout regularly and all I want was some basic info and to look at the facility and equipment. She told me I had to do the assessment! I asked her how long it would take, she said she didn’t know n it depends. Worst customer service ever! They wouldn’t even give me an idea of how much it would cost to join or the classes they offered. I’ve been a long time customer with every gym From club fit, golds, to goodlife. Between 4-5yrs.

Do not sign a contract here. They renovated their location and told people they were on hold for memberships and then continued to charge. Ran me around to three different locations and I still have membership cancellation issues plus charges Even though general manager promised to cancel. I called head office and he wanted me to go back to the general manager again to clear up their mess. Will never recommend anyone to sign up here

VERY limited and outdated equipment, some equipment has even been removed ever since the renovation.

NEEDS better workout machines!

No one has gotten back to me in the last two months. I understand that branding has changed which made things more difficult. However, staff was relocated to other branches. I was not expected anything to come out of my comment until I was promised that something would happen. Quite disappointed.

I quit this fitness centre 1 year ago. My primary Spa Lady was Northgate. The changing room was outdated and the floors were rarely mopped. I preferred working out at WEM if possible for the clean change room, spin room and sauna. Just FYI.things seem to be looking better at Northgate as they are doing some construction work. I hope this makes your gym experience better! I did not mind the contract at Spa Lady, you just have to sign up when they are having a good deal. The fitness equipment was always clean, and they had every piece of equipment necessary for individuals of all skill levels. The basement was an awesome space for independent workouts as it was often empty.

My biggest issue was getting a nutritionist. I paid the full 300-500 dollars at once and I was so disappointed. My appointments were rushed and most of the time was used to push other products or services for me to sign up for. Additionally, I was forced to book appointments close together. I literally had to beg for information multiple time. Things I was promised to receive at the second session I had not received till my sessions were complete and I had to beg to get them even then. Because of these appointments I lost 10 pounds in 1 week which started an eating disorder that I still struggle with 2 years later. Signing up with a nutritionist at Spa Lady is a bad decision and I hope none of you make the same mistake as I did.

Must be nice to just steal equipment and say it's part of your personal training routine as an excuse I'm on the equipment and you just come and grab it because your trainer told you to. Utilize 3 machines a bench and other equipment all at once with that excuse.

It was really fun! But really strict

I wanted to give this review especially for Asma, one of the fitness consulans that works in this location. She is very good at helping others and making it very clear how the gym system works in general. VERY FRIENDLY STAFF!
