Staff is good in service.
However, there are ways to improve pouring skill.

1. Under extraction: the barista spent only 10 seconds to pour an espresso shot. Way too fast!

2. Tamping skill: it seems like the barista didn’t tamp the ground firm enough.

This place is great!
It's just one of the staff made me the wrong recipe for what I ordered and added vanilla whipped cream, instead of chocolate, it made it taste better and it was a better recipe,
Just kidding, I requested the vanilla cream and loved it.

Love this cafe! The baristas always make me feel welcome with their smile and fun attitude. I've been coming here for a long time and everything is consistently delicious.

This place is fantastic! The location is great, it has above average coffees, teas, quality food items, and amazing baked goods! Seriously sooo good! The cafe caters to those with Milk & Gluten issues, and also has Vegan options! It's so cozy, and the decor is pleasing. The warm and friendly staff makes this place truly special. Higher Ground Capitol Hill really does love you!

One of the best coffees I've ever had, plus the jalapeño cheddar scone was fresh and delicious, caprese sandwich was HUGE. I didn't expect the size of it all, really good value. Friendly staff and a nice environment inside and tables outside too:)

The Banbury Lane Crew greatly appreciated that the Higher Ground Capitol Hill locations skill in crafting the highlighted hot chocolate that they crafted for the YYC Hot Chocolate Festival. We looked at others but you had to pre order! Totally fine with that but it would have been nice to have that noted on the vendor’s advertisements! Thanks again for the delicious treat!

Ive been coming here a while and I've noticed a decline in quality as of late, specifically when the smaller woman makes my coffee. Each time I have gone and she has made my coffee the milk has been burnt leading to my latte tasting awful. Additionally, on my most recent visit I watched her set the milk to steam and then walk away to help a customer then come back and continue to steam it more. In my experience working as a barista for quite a long time, milk should rarely be steamed for more than 30 seconds. This locations training protocol should be reviewed because if the quality of the coffee stays this poor I'm unlikely to continue coming here for my coffee, which would be a shame because I've been a long time supporter of higher ground at this location as well as their Kensington location.

Nice location! Free parking out front. Coffee is good but on the more expensive side. Lots of people studying and working. Staff friendly!

These ladies work their hardest and everything is always on time. Last time I can in and was running late for work. They ask what I was waiting for and immediately got to it. Fast service is a big when you are working a good few minuets away haha

The vegan and gluten free brownie is seriously the best baked good I have ever had in my life, unbelievably delicious!

Very disappointing visit today i ordered a hot bannana drink which was good but sisters experience was terrible first we ordered a everything breakfast bagel when it came it had like undercooked bacon and no egg like the egg is the main part of the breakfast bagel we return it and tell them abouy the issue they go back and say they will add egg. We also told them plz add garlic aioli as there was none added the girl at front says she knows (how would she know)
shell add it. Next comes up the hot chocolate my sister order comes cold we tell them they say well fix it and we see the girl just putting choclate milk in a cup and warming it up.if i wanted that i couldve done it at home. Then comes back the bagel dry no garlic aioli but they added egg and then we realize the bagels not a everything bagel either im so annoyed $27 spent for a garbage experience guys pay attention to your order and we just didnt want to keep complaining and we juat left threw out the bagel and hot chocolate

Love this place so much. Always fresh, easily located and ample parking. Staff are friendly, they smile which is awesome. Great variety and some lovely treats from the bakery too!

The service was great. The few times I been there the customer service has been wonderful, for that I will give 5 stars. However I find the coffeeshop to be quite dirty, every time I been here I have seen flies and spiders everywhere. The tables seems to always have crumbs all over and the rail by the windows are pretty filthy too, seems like it hasn't been clean for months. I hope they can clean up the shop a bit to make it more presentable.

The coffee was really great! The service was incredibly friendly!

We waited over 20 minutes for 3 coffees which honestly didn't bother us because we were in good company but it would have been tough if we had been on a schedule.

First time at Higher Ground in Capitol Hill. We found it very dirty on the floor, tables and where the baristas were making our coffees. We ordered 2 coffees and a Turkey Club and it took half hour to receive our food which was just horrible for the price and there was no one in front of us that ordered food. The girl said it was just coming off the grill yet it was cold and put together very sloppy. The coffees were not to bad but unfortunatley due to the wait time on food and the cleanliness of the shop we wont be back.

First visit and couldn’t be happier. Food was excellent (breakfast stuff but I had a turkey club sandwich). One staff member on and she was wonderful. Think I’ve found a new regular favourite
